@annie1994 You do whatever you feel is best for you ๐Ÿฅฐ Don't let anyone push you into a decision you don't want.

DH & have been very fortunate over the years that we never had any unplanned pregnancies. What I didn't anticipate though, was how long it would actually take to conceive once we did start trying ๐Ÿ™ˆ Completely goes against everything you were taught in school! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyone else massively struggling with their energy levels? I've not long woke from a nap & feel like I need to go nap again ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Wow I've missed so much on here today! Been busy on my last day at work, what an incredible feeling it is to put your out of office on for a year! ๐Ÿคฉ

@Capricorn8990 so exciting! Sounds like things will be happening soon.

@annie1994 I think I am going back on the mini pill after the birth as had no issues with it before and mainly as one side effect of the pill I was on is it stopped periods, and have really liked not having any whilst pregnant and would like to continue!

@KizboBaggins think I have only seen the same midwife twice so far, we moved house half way so had to change surgeries, and then the midwife was on holiday one appt and she had covid one week too. I don't think it really matters as long as all the right checks are done ๐Ÿ™‚

@Lianna93 glad you had a lovely scan, they are a great chance to see baby again. It's lovely they still give you photos, we got a brilliant selfie as well at a recent growth scan with her head and face in full view ๐Ÿฅฐ

CaptainCarp · 17/06/2022 18:21

@Capricorn8990 oh sounds like your body is definitely preparing for baby to come!

@annie1994 no idea about birth control after... My periods seemed fairly regular after stopping to become pregnant so I may give myself a while before going back to anything.

@Lianna93 glad your scan went well. How many weeks are you? I wouldn't have thought 6.5lbs was that small..
I've felt a bit more tired the last few days but not sure if thats the heat so I'm not sleeping so well.

I feel like baby has dropped in the last day or so. My boobs don't seem to be resting on my belly anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚
Also went for a walk today and almost felt like getting a bit of a waddle on as I had a lot of pressure / full feeling very low down.
Could do with them hanging on 48hrs so we don't have to sort childcare for DSC though ๐Ÿ˜‚

SamanthaVimes · 17/06/2022 18:46

@annie1994 Iโ€™m hoping my DH will get the snip after, neither of us want more than 2 DC and Iโ€™ve had enough of hormonal contraception and donโ€™t want a coil.
Judging by last time itโ€™ll take me a few months to be up for it anyway ๐Ÿ˜… so weโ€™ll have time to think properly!

Lianna93 · 17/06/2022 18:55

@CaptainCarp I'm 37+3 now - on the chart, baby is under the 50th centile line. Kinda praying she stays small - I was a chonk of a baby ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚ I don't think have HG has helped though, I'm just grateful that through my months of puking & unable to eat she's still managed to grow perfectly.

I'm constantly feeling like I'm needing to sleep right now but then I'm getting really frustrated cos I've got a million things I want to get done in the house before baby makes her appearance. DH finishes up work next week, so hoping he'll be hands on & help me get things organised ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

OP posts:
KizboBaggins · 17/06/2022 18:56

@annie1994 im the same as @SamanthaVimes - I reckon the baby will act as a natural contraceptive for a while ๐Ÿ˜‚ DH has already volunteered to get the snip. This is his second, (I have a 12 year old step son) and I think realistically we'll be done after one. Can't afford any more lol. But I'm tempted to go back on the pill at first because I don't really want my periods back!

@CaptainCarp eee how exciting! Hope they hold out for you a little longer tho lol. The boob on belly thing still feels SO weird to me! I've always been pretty flat chested so am not used to handling these new bazookers ๐Ÿ˜…

@Lianna93 is she just under 50th centile? She sounds like the perfect size for minimal damage lol

Lianna93 · 17/06/2022 19:01

@KizboBaggins Yeah under the 50th centile but my fundal height has measured huuuge - like way above the 97th centile ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
But my bump isn't even that big! ๐Ÿ˜‚
Sonographer couldn't understand the measurements when she was looking at my chart yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
KizboBaggins · 17/06/2022 19:05

@Lianna93 just goes to show how much of a guessing game it is! My bump has consistently measured under 3rd centile but baby has scanned on 50th so fundal height itself clearly doesn't mean much, more about the growth of bump I suppose

NamelessBaby1 · 17/06/2022 19:19

@Lianna93 that's so funny, will be so interesting to see what size your baby actually is when it arrives! The pics sound lovely though ๐Ÿฅฐ

@KizboBaggins @CaptainCarp I've always been slightly larger chested, but oh my goodness it's crazy now! And wearing non wired bras just leads to soooo much under boob sweat, it's so disturbing lol. I feel like my boobs have gone slightly more saggy too which is a bit sad as I always liked the way they were!

@annie1994 that's as good a reason as any to go on the pill or something, I definitely haven't missed dealing with periods! Been nice to have a wee while without it.

I've been quite on and off with the tiredness, some days I've had to have a nap at lunchtime and then the next day I'm fine all day long. Finished work today too though so looking forward to being able to do things in my own time from now on.

LaurenGame · 17/06/2022 20:05

@Lianna93 were exactly the same - used withdrawal method for over a decade with no issues, then took ages to get pregnant when we started trying.

We only want one kid so I'm really conscious not to fall pregnant again as too many friends fell pregnant straight away after starting having sex again !

I also can't take a pill as high chance of blood clots/stroke. Haven't decided what to do as DP seems a bit ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜ณ at the snip idea but I feel like I can 'persuade' him but I really don't want to do that as I don't want to put pressure on him to do something with his body he's not comfortable with.

So not sure where that leaves us! Good to hear others' plans Grin

Lianna93 · 17/06/2022 20:19

@LaurenGame Thankfully it's been DHs decision to get the snip - primarily because he doesn't want me to have to go through pregnancy again, it's not been a great experience for me at all between the HG & my mental health.
But practically, we just simply can't afford to have another either.
Baby will have an over abundance of cousins anyways (lots of siblings on my side!) so I don't feel like I need to give her a sibling - despite what inlaws & my parents are saying ๐Ÿ™„ 'Need to have at least two' No ta Hun x

@NamelessBaby1 I reckon she'll be no more than about 7.5lbs but definitely will be interesting to find out after all these measurements ๐Ÿ˜‚ When I did my gender scan at 16 weeks, the sonographer told us she had really long legs & arms so fully expecting a long baby. Gonna be tall like her daddy ๐Ÿฅฐ

@KizboBaggins That sounds like you've barely got a bump at all ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I look at my bump & im convinced it's just a bit more than my usual bloat ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Was so desperate to be one those women you see that can balance their cereal bowls on their bump but there's no way I can do that ๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
Mattieandmummy · 17/06/2022 20:27

@Capricorn8990 exciting times! Hope it all goes well whenever small person decides to make an appearance.

I think we'll just carry on without contraception, sounds a bit irresponsible when you say doesn't it! But I'm the same as quite a few of you, can't take anything hormonal as I get terrible migraines and black spots in front of my eyes which apparently means high risk for stroke whilst on them.

CaptainCarp · 17/06/2022 20:37

@Lianna93 ah yeah you're only a day behind me! My baby was estimated at 6.5lbs at 36 weeks so a bit bigger.

It will be really interesting to see how many of the growths scans are correct or not!

@NamelessBaby1 I had a reasonable size bust before but the last few weeks there hasn't been a gap between bottom of boob & belly & yes the sweat has been grim!
I've been glad to have the gap back today ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think being at work hasn't let me nap although I have had the odd 1 on a weekend.

NamelessBaby1 · 17/06/2022 22:59

I'll look forward to having that gap back again soon then too hopefully. I can't balance anything on my bump because my boobs are in the way!! I sometimes can't quite tell how big the bump is unless I'm standing side on and lift them out the way ๐Ÿ™ˆ lol

@Lianna93 I was watching a programme on iPlayer earlier about premmie babies at Wishaw hospital in case that's of interest- I know we're all well past that stage now but it was really interesting, poor wee souls that they are though! So reassuring to see all they can do for the wee ones these days though.

Lianna93 · 17/06/2022 23:21

@NamelessBaby1 Wishaw is where I'll be delivering - so will definitely give it a watch so I can familiarise myself with the hospital. Haven't seen anything past scan department & triage so far ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
NamelessBaby1 · 18/06/2022 04:23

Ah that's cool! It was really just the NICU they were showing but all the midwives seemed so lovely and caring.

I haven't been in the St John's L&D department at all yet, but they have walkthrough videos on the NHS Lothian website which I found helpful! Still dreading actually being in hospital though, and my midwife said since I'm planning to breastfeed I'll be in at least one overnight ๐Ÿ˜–

MollyRover · 18/06/2022 04:37

Re contraception, I have to recommend the implant. I had one since 8 weeks after dc1 was born and conceived within one month of it being taken out. I'll get another one in asap, we've set ourselves a deadline of early 2023 to decide whether we want another child or not (we're 90% sure not) then DH will get the snip.

ShellUK09 · 18/06/2022 05:46

Struggling to sleep due to the heat, and it's not even that hot where we are compared to down south! It's always dangerous when I can't sleep as I end up looking at baby stuff online and I probably don't need more clothes... I need to catch up on sleep more now during the day, can do that now I'm done with work ๐Ÿ˜

annie1994 · 18/06/2022 07:33

Last night was so dreadful because of the heat!! Iโ€™m in Kent and our bedroom was 29.5 all night!! I ended up coming downstairs for like 3 hours and slept a
bit on the sofa. Also I genuinely thought my waters may have broken as bed and knickers was so wet but nope was just sweat ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿคข TMI sorry ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you everyone on advice of contraception, I definitely wonโ€™t need to worry for a good couple months or so at least having a newborn ๐Ÿ˜‚ maybe Iโ€™ll just see how I feel then!

strawberrysummer19 · 18/06/2022 07:44

@annie1994 I'm in Kent too, it's sooo hot isn't it, slept with the fan.
And I've been waking up earlier than usual, can't seem to lay in.
I think I still have thrush, been uncomfortable on and off with it this pregnancy
What hospital are you giving birth in? I'm WHH. X

Coco9910 · 18/06/2022 08:11

I donโ€™t think I will go on any contraception..I wasnโ€™t on any for 2 years before we conceived and we were actively trying for 4 months. The pill didnโ€™t react well with me and I donโ€™t like the idea of having the coil or implant incase they donโ€™t react well with me and I canโ€™t just stop them. Weโ€™ll see..bring on the male pill so they can have their hormones messed with ๐Ÿ˜…

Yes so hot! Our room was 25-26 degrees last night. I froze a hot water bottle and put that down by my feet which definitely helped!

missv556 · 18/06/2022 09:10

Sleep last night was terrible. Took me hours to drop off because I was just hot and uncomfortable and then it was a very broken sleep as well.

With contraception I don't think I'll take anything tbh. I was on the mini pill and had no issues with it, loved it in fact because I didn't get my period on it. But then it took me a year to conceive after stopping it. I'd like to give my body a chance to be "normal" without hormones and see how it gets on. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I fall pregnant again but I'll be tracking my cycles by temping once they start back up.

kiwi17 · 18/06/2022 09:36

I'm in the north west so I think we were lucky that it was a bit cooler yesterday than down south! A question - is everyone else having period type pains pretty much every day now? I would say I get them on and off once or twice a day for the last week. I don't remember having this with DD who was induced at 41+3 because she didn't want to come out but also don't want to get too excited ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lianna93 · 18/06/2022 09:51

@NamelessBaby1 You're not far from me at all then - I had the option of St Johns or Wishaw because of where I stay - in an ideal world, I would have delivered in Edinburgh at the Simpsons though (avoid having a wee weegie baby ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚) but Wishaw is closest to me & every experience I've had there has been fantastic & I like that they're not an absolute massive hospital as well.

Oh that's interesting you're being told you'll need to stay in at least a night for breastfeeding... my Midwife hasn't said anything about that. I'll need to ask her... Ideally, I want the quickest turn around in the world ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sorry to hear everyone seems to have struggled to sleep last night - Scotland doesn't seem to be nearly as warm as what you guys are getting at the moment but it's definitely coming ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚
I was getting the most intense lower back pains again last night & I could feel baby pushing her way done - really don't think I'm making it to July ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

OP posts:
SamanthaVimes · 18/06/2022 10:02

@NamelessBaby1 @Lianna93 I didnโ€™t have to stay overnight for breastfeeding help when I had DD. I wonder if thatโ€™s an area difference or if it was a pandemic thing?
DD was born just after 6am and we were home about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Iโ€™m hoping for the same again this time as the brief stint on postnatal ward convinced me that is one of the circles of hell (appreciate thatโ€™s probably hospital dependent though!)
