Well growth scan showed baby is abit of a fatty.. I'm 34+4 and EFW is 6lb at the moment! RIP my vag! ๐Ÿคฃ

ShellUK09 · 08/06/2022 14:15

@ChinChilly ah wow she has grown! I have my growth scan tomorrow so will see what happens there, my bumps feels really heavy so I'm a bit worried about the weight as well!

Had 34 week appt today and baby hic upped all the way through heart beat check. It felt strange as I could feel the hic ups going against the Doppler and my belly was wobbling all over! Midwife didn't seem concerned anyway and heart beat was normal, noticed she is getting hic ups more lately. Was glad to hear she is still head down anyway!

DayToNight · 08/06/2022 15:37

Those who have children already what are you doing about childcare for the birth? I was hoping for a home birth but have been advised against it. Nearest relative is 6 hours away. One friend had offered but is away when baby is likely to be born.

strawberrysummer19 · 08/06/2022 16:02

My consultant called back after my 32wk growth scan app yesterday and I've been booked in for an induction for 20th July! 6 weeks today so feels real now.

I was always going to be induced 39-40wks but it's nice to have a date and good it's 39+1

Got the last few bits for my bag I was missing
Nappy wipes and nighties which is me done now.

I even bought a tub of formula as I parked in Asda and needed to purchase something over ยฃ7 to get my parking back ! So that felt weird ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

annie1994 · 08/06/2022 16:10

@DayToNight My mum will have my son as she lives near and he absolutely loves her.

Thatโ€™s hard for you though! Do you think youโ€™ll have a planned (ie induction or ELCS) or spontaneous birth? If itโ€™s planned beforehand you can probably organise your family to help but maybe if youโ€™re wanting a spontaneous birth, do you have any neighbours you trust to look after them?

kiwi17 · 08/06/2022 16:10

@DaytoNight I'm attempting a homebirth for the second time - was induced last time as I went too far overdue annoyingly but fingers crossed that won't happen this time! We have a couple of friends locally who will have dd and then in-laws 45mins away who will collect her from there and take her to theirs overnight if needed. If I go into labour at night I'm tempted to leave her asleep upstairs - that's what a friend did with her homebirth and first dc!

Very much depends on the situation because DC1 is school aged. Maybe the neighbours who have a child in the same class, maybe MIL but hasn't been terribly reliable recently, maybe DH will be pulled in both directions. Not ideal but the best we can do at the moment.

We have asked DC if they wanted to be woken up if it happens at night to let them know what was happening or just let them sleep and they've said wake up- we thought that they would have some understanding and that they're old enough to have a say about it.

missv556 · 08/06/2022 16:25

@ChinChilly I'm due day after you and I have a growth scan on Friday. Baby boy was 5lb 4oz 2 weeks ago so will be interesting to see if he gets up to 6lbs too. My bump has grown for sure though

DayToNight · 08/06/2022 16:27

@annie1994 it's likely to be spontaneous. I was 2.5 weeks early last time and ended up emcs. Trying for a VBAC. A friend has offered but is away for a week close to due date. Thinking of asking PILs to stay that week then everything will be covered. Otherwise will labour alone.

If MIL is here when the boy is born my DM will be very jealous. But PILs are retired and DM is not.

DayToNight · 08/06/2022 16:30

@kiwi17 I hope the homebirth goes well. I just finished watching Yorkshire Midwives on Call and it made me really want a homebirth

SamanthaVimes · 08/06/2022 16:39

@DayToNight weโ€™re lucky to have PILs around the corner so they will look after DD whilst Iโ€™m in labour. If they were further though Iโ€™d ask a couple of friends and have them on standby.

ChinChilly · 08/06/2022 18:37

@ShellUK09 I'm not sure where she is hiding because everyone keeps telling me my bump is small.

@missv556 will definitely be interesting to see how heavy your little boy is.

Does anybody know on average how much weight they put on weekly now, kinda worried I'm gonna have a huge baby now lol

Ah we watched that too! So lovely although shows you all the ways you miss out on a homebirth ๐Ÿ˜‚ fingers crossed though!

Mattieandmummy · 08/06/2022 20:07

@DayToNight my Mum is going to come and stay to look after our first, I'm having a C-section so it's a bit easier planning wise. Although I am very grateful she's going to be here I'm not sure how I'm going to get her to go home! We didn't get to do the whole paternity leave thing with my first as she was in hospital for almost two weeks post birth. She came home on the Saturday and my DH went to back to work on the Monday so I'm really hoping for some time with just DH, DD1 and new DD2 this time around.

laurenGame · 08/06/2022 20:27

Last day of work! ๐Ÿฅณ I've been awake since 3.30am so I'm definitely ready to put my feet up and do nothing but chill and take daytime naps. 36+2

My pelvic feels broken or dislocated! It's crazy (albeit normal). I literally cannot walk sometimes when I get off the bed.

@strawberrysummer19 I'm also getting induced at 39+1, 29 June a SO close ๐Ÿซฃ mine is elective, does yours have a reason? I can update you with my experience Smile

CaptainCarp · 08/06/2022 20:33

So my c-section has been cancelled now baby is head down however they are still keen to get baby out so I'm booked for an induction (at 39 weeks) on the day that I was booked to have the section.

They were on about doing it at 38 weeks but I told them no.
If they could wait for the section it can wait for the induction.

1 thing is if baby comes after being induced then we won't have to sort childcare for DSC as they aren't with us.
Not sure what will happen if baby decides to make an appearance when they are here... I'm not convinced that MIL will be on call & my DPs are an hour away.

strawberrysummer19 · 08/06/2022 20:56

@laurenGame yes please ๐Ÿ™
Well I'm under a consultant for 3 factors
Age (40) previous thyroid issues but has been under control for a year ๐Ÿค” and Ivf pregnancy so they weren't happy me going full term

I'm now scared of induction ๐Ÿ˜ฌafter having a little read through peoples experiences on Mumsnet

But I was also scared of elective c ๐Ÿ˜ž

X

strawberrysummer19 · 08/06/2022 21:14

My mother in law is my birthing partner ๐Ÿ˜€absolutely love her and she's like my own mum

So my fiancรฉ will be at home with our daughter then it's home from home for her x

Purple1181 · 08/06/2022 21:21

I had an induction with my first and it was fine! I found reading peoples birth stories helpful - the ones on thepositivebirthcompany.co.uk/blog cover every eventuality

Iโ€™m a bit worried about sorting childcare. No close friends/family within an hours drive and my last labour was fast so I think Iโ€™ll need to get to hospital quickly. My husbands work colleagues would likely step in but my little one doesnโ€™t know them and I donโ€™t want it all to be a bad experience for her. Hoping I conveniently go into labour during nursery hours but might be being overly optimistic! Our local birthing centre and home birth service have been closed all year due to staffing so very limited options :(

strawberrysummer19 · 08/06/2022 21:45

@Purple1181 that's good to new
Thank you for the link I'll have a read x

kiwi17 · 08/06/2022 22:32

@strawberrysummer19 I was induced last time and it was completely fine - had a pessary at about 8.30am on the Saturday, labour started in the late afternoon after we mooched around the hospital for a bit. Waters broke in the bath at about 10pm and after 1 1/2 hour active labour she was born 12.25am Sunday morning with just paracetamol and gas and air. Honestly I think she was ready to come out though at 41+3 so I didn't need the drip or much intervention so it felt straightforward. I think induction like any birth is very personal to you so try to not read too much into the negative stories- people love to tell those! The boring ones like mine don't bother to share ๐Ÿ˜‚

strawberrysummer19 · 08/06/2022 22:40

@kiwi17 thank you for sharing - a nice positive one which is lovely to read
So they let you have a bath and a mooch beforehand then which is good
Hate the thought of being tied down to a monitor but then I guess that's when the drip is in I guess. X

Oh definitely- the pessary is the first stage and you're not tied down to anything with that so once it was in they were happy for us to do our own thing! I don't know much about the drip but I think that's if Labour isn't progressing later or if the pessary didn't work they'd use that. I was even offered the low risk birthing unit and birthing pool if I wanted it so as if I'd gone into labour naturally and was on the way to the pool when I wanted to push so didn't get there!

missv556 · 09/06/2022 08:03

@ChinChilly I've read that they put on about half a pound a week during the 3rd trimester. So with 5 weeks left it would be roughly another 2.5 lbs. I dont want to gain even another ounce at this point! I already feel like a baby elephant, I can barely carry around what is already there ๐Ÿ˜… I haven't gained weight anywhere other than my belly, its all bump so there's a little sumo wrestler in there weighing me down haha

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 09/06/2022 08:21

Morning everyone!

Iโ€™m 37 weeks today! Canโ€™t believe it, actually at full term as it were.
Final day of work tomorrow (Hurrar!) and then Iโ€™ve got a luxury pedicure next Thursday booked (ha). Soโ€ฆ Iโ€™m aiming for next Thursday to start lots of spicy curries and ball bouncing and trying to get her to move ๐Ÿ˜‚
