@missv556 sorry to hear your consultant is being a bit of a d**k. Iโ€™m sure if he declines giving you a C section (whether medically indicated or not) youโ€™re can be referred to another consultant who will but obviously itโ€™s getting closer to due date so I can imagine thatโ€™s a bit stressful!! Maybe see what your midwife says?

paintfairy · 31/05/2022 18:23

@CatMumFTM22 I'll have a look. Thanks.
@missv556 like this whole thing isn't stressful enough? But yes I'm also fed up of it all. I'm back at the hospital tomorrow and dreading it. But I would definitely think you need to know about options and risks etc of all of it, in case the plan changes later? Not just go in blind?! Its your body and you having to go through it. Not his.

CaptainCarp · 31/05/2022 19:13

@missv556 sounds like he was a bit of a dick. To give you all the negatives of vaginal & then still just say "i think you should go for that". Obviously hasn't brushed up on his debating skills.

I'm not sure who would book in an elective c-section usually? I assume midwife as some ladies wouldn't be under consultants...

My consultant booked me in but that was only because I was scanned breach so that does have many risks to try & go vaginal.

Mattieandmummy · 31/05/2022 19:21

@missv556 you can't be refused a c section, if your consultant won't agree to you having one then they have to refer you to a consultant who will agree to it.

It's ultimately your choice, not the midwife's or the consultant's.

Mattieandmummy · 31/05/2022 19:34

So I caught a glimpse of my leg in the mirror earlier and I think I might have the beginning of some varicose veins!!!!!! I know you can get them in pregnancy but I wasn't actually expecting to ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

Also just spent the day in hospital for unexplained bleeding and reduced movements. Everything is ok with bump this evening but it scared the life out of me when I went to the loo and found blood in my knickers. Really hoping little bump stays in and doesn't make an early appearance.

SamanthaVimes · 31/05/2022 19:48

@Mattieandmummy that must have been really scary! Hope youโ€™re ok now

Mattieandmummy · 31/05/2022 20:22

@SamanthaVimes it hasn't been the best day in honesty but everyone was really reassuring at the hospital. I'm 34 weeks on Friday, just got to make it to 37 ๐Ÿคž

CaptainCarp · 31/05/2022 21:09

@Mattieandmummy sending big hugs. That must have been heart stopping when you saw the blood.
Glad you've been checked out & everything is ok. ๐ŸคžBaby sticks in until 37 weeks as well.

strawberrysummer19 · 31/05/2022 23:14

I'm sooooooo uncomfortable! This has definitely been my worst day so far

Have felt more pressure last few days and growth scan showed head down but tonight she's feeling so low and so much discomfort and bouncing away on my bladder
Actually feel painful and a fair few braxton hicks going on

Anyone else? X

SamanthaVimes · 01/06/2022 06:40

@strawberrysummer19 Iโ€™m super uncomfortable too!
Had a little sob last night because I was trying to get DD to go to sleep but was so uncomfortable on her bed, I had to give in and get DH to do it.

DD wasnโ€™t even being particularly difficult, just not tired and wanted to read books but the bump was getting in the way and my back really hurt.

I hate being so physically restricted in what I can do. Roll on July to get this kid out of me!

missv556 · 01/06/2022 07:30

@strawberrysummer19 baby has been head down for quite a few weeks and is 3/5 engaged, his movement does something to my bladder which makes me feel the urge to wee lol he must think it's a punching bag ๐Ÿคฃ

My midwife is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. When I mentioned to her about an elective section she said I'd have to speak to a consultant. And yet despite the fact I'm a high risk pregnancy and having growth scans every 4 weeks, I wasn't booked in for any appointments with a consultant. And it does say on my badger notes that I'm under shared care of midwife and obstetrician. She had to ring the hospital to get a call booked in which I had and there's nothing else scheduled as of yet. Its all a bit of a joke really. Seems like no one gives a damn about me or my child.

Omg it's 1st June. We can officially say our babies are due next month! Some of our babies will even arrive this month!

Lianna93 · 01/06/2022 08:29

@missv556 I use badger notes too & was instructed to start my birth plan in that - if you click on conversations, there's a bit specifically for doing your birth plan. Maybe worth putting on that you want a C-section so you know there's a note of it on their system :)

@missv556 so uncomfortable isn't it!
Woken up with back ache too but not as much bump ache as yesterday
She must have been in a funny position but it's not fun and feel a bit fed up with my mood - can't believe I haven't 7-8 wks left
Feels like if it was 4wks I could get my head around that which is silly I know

My midwife is exactly the same! Nice enough but like yourself under consultant but only spoke to him at 24wks and then nothing
Thought I'd speak to him after my 1st growth scan
Had to call and chase and have booked an app for next week
My midwife always checks something online and says same thing 'no internet' so i had to call round myself
Just feel like you with regards that it's a high risk pregnancy but had no consultation booked in

My friends 4wks ahead had consultant and had 3 letters in one go scheduling her appointments
My midwife said not to compare ๐Ÿ™„

Hopefully on 8th I can get some clarity as im feeling anxious x

strawberrysummer19 · 01/06/2022 09:12

@SamanthaVimes oh bless you, I felt I could have a sob too but i haven't got a young one to deal with. My daughters 10 and an absolute dream, I always say I think women that have toddlers and younger children and pregnant just find it so much harder.
Obviously I still have school runs, work, dinner
To cook and the usual errands but I find that enough
Fiancรฉ has been doing more and more
So like last night I cooked but didn't wash up
He came down and said the kitchen looks awful! (He works long hours and used to me doing everything and house immaculate)but he's off today and is currently sorting it as I sit down and have breakfast!
I'm letting it go now 1/ it's physically draining and I was so uncomfortable yesterday 2/ it's what happens when you have a new born initially! It's the biggest thing that made me feel depressed last time
Basically not being able to keep on top of everything drove me mad
This time I'm taking a different approach
And letting fiancรฉ do stuff around the house now - to be fair he's great he's just not here enough as he does long hours so I do what I can and leave the heavy stuff like hoovering and washing floors to him! Find it hard lugging the hoover upstairs
X

missv556 · 01/06/2022 09:25

@strawberrysummer19 I had all my scans come through at the same time when I was maybe 22ish weeks cos my growth scans were starting from 28 weeks. But nothing consultant wise.

My baby boy is so heavy, I'm having difficulty walking around my flat even, let alone outside. He's been hanging out around my pelvis for a long time, I've had pelvic pain from pretty early on in the 2nd trimester but it's been especially bad since about 30 weeks. Definitely got the pregnant waddle going on ๐Ÿ˜… I've got, at most, 6 weeks left of this though which is bloody scary ๐Ÿ˜ณ

missv556 · 01/06/2022 09:27

@Lianna93 I have seen that on badger before. Worth a try I guess

strawberrysummer19 · 01/06/2022 09:29

@missv556 oh I see, I've had no scans ! Even though they were supposed to be 28, 32 and have one 36wks
In fact I got a call at 28wks saying can I come tomorrow ?! Which I couldn't but went that week so that's what I called to find out when my 32 wks one was and called to say where is my consultant call and they said sorry it's missed but they can book me one for my 32 wks one so that next week when I'll be 33wks
I thought that was ok as the midwife went through the scan and plotted it and it just shows a large baby on 97th centile

So I'm looking forward to my consult call next week

I feel your pain, in limiting walking now !

X

Coco9910 · 01/06/2022 10:19

Sounds like everyoneโ€™s starting to feel a bit uncomfortable! I donโ€™t know if thereโ€™s a foot or something in my ribs but Iโ€™m struggling to sit at my desk and work! ๐Ÿ˜…

Can you believe our babies are due next month!! ๐Ÿฅฐ (Or this month to the late June Mummyโ€™s!)

MollyRover · 01/06/2022 10:26

@Mattieandmummy that's very scary, sending lots of virtual support your way xx

I'm exhausted because of not getting any REM sleep- think maybe I'm having 2-3 hours at a time only ๐Ÿ˜ฅ. I'm normally a very active person but need to conserve my energy a lot now so frustrating that a) I'm not active enough during the day to be tired enough at night and b) I'm packing on the kgs because I CANNOT stop eating. Have an event next year so want to go back to normal asap- anyone want to start another thread to help eachother's motivation in that respect? Not trying to create peer pressure but I'm already depressed about it.

MollyRover · 01/06/2022 10:29

Oh, and another general question for the most esteemed group: any good resources for what kind of support partner's can provide during labour? Like I said we didn't get a chance to do a course together this time around so he'd probably benefit from something. I was just thinking it might be better if I screened different methods in case there's something that I really don't like the sound of ๐Ÿ˜…

missv556 · 01/06/2022 11:09

@strawberrysummer19 they've booked me in for an extra scan on the 12th when I'll be 35 weeks then I've still got my original 36 week scan 11 days later. And then one more 2 days before my due date which I don't think I'll be having somehow lol I swear I've been to the hospital more than any pregnant woman I've ever known

annie1994 · 01/06/2022 13:24

Ladies iโ€™m with you all on how uncomfortable it is now!! Iโ€™m 36 weeks today and am just so fed up. My baby is still transverse I think so itโ€™s making everything so hard physically. Then at night time I obviously canโ€™t lie on my back, I canโ€™t lie on my left because babies head is that side and I squish him so he boots me like crazy. So Iโ€™m stuck on my right side most the night which after a while hurts my hip!!! So Iโ€™m sleeping s**t. I feel so guilty that I canโ€™t get down and play with my toddler or take him out as much. So feel like Iโ€™m letting him down. The housework Iโ€™m still just about doing but am really struggling. I feel like my partner has no sympathy this time round.

No point in this post really, just feel so fed up and thought you all would understand more!

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 01/06/2022 13:44

I feel you @annie1994 !
my hips are aching too from having to lie in mine position all night

on the plus side I just spoke to work and brought forward my maternity leave by 3 days, so I finish next friday!! Doing a happy dance at my laptop right now, literally cannot wait to switch off (sorry baby to be, a bit more excited about finishing work than you arriving at this particular moment in time! ๐Ÿ˜‚)

annie1994 · 01/06/2022 14:10

@HotToddyColdSauvignon woooo thatโ€™s good ๐Ÿ˜ It definitely gets near the end when you canโ€™t focus or find the motivation to work at all!

NamelessBaby1 · 01/06/2022 14:32

@Coco9910 I laso have the permanent foot in rib thing going on, as well as fairly constant what I now think is Braxton Hicks, meaning the top of my stomach is like a constant hard knot - makes it so uncomfortable! I used to always roll my eyes slightly at pregnant women standing with their hands on their bellies and stuff but now I totally get it, haha!

@Mattieandmummy eek that would have been scary! Must admit I still keep expecting to see blood every time I go to the loo as I still can't quite believe I'm finally expecting, even at nearly 34 weeks!!

I'm off the rest of this week, and then I have 2 working weeks left, so it's coming around very quick. I've been able to start getting some of my work handed over too which is such a relief, I feel like I can start to relax a bit now.
