@ChinChilly I know she was very blasรฉ
Thank god it's not her deciding and I'm not even clear c section is the way I want to go but I want to talk and be listened to
My midwife hasn't been great - as in she just feels like she ticks boxes, she's nice enough but is very faffy and forgetful at each appointment which doesn't feel me with confidence

Hoping my consultation call next week they may be more informative ?

No iron tablets for me - no ones mentioned them

Not seeing midwife now until 34 wk app

@Lianna93 I did the same at the weekend and washing bag bits as we speak!

I'll save the washing for other clothes when I go on may leave 3-4wks before but want the hospital bag bits washed and ready
I've packed my bag, just washing baby bits

I also have told myself no more long works
I feel I can't walk and in so much discomfort
Like I can feel her head so low feeling

X

@strawberrysummer19 glad you GTT was clear!
Sorry to hear the midwife was dismissive of your concerns about birth.
I know c-sections are major surgery but previous trauma may impact your birth & potentially cause issues. Hopefully there is someone you can talk through all the options with.

strawberrysummer19 · 30/05/2022 19:46

@CaptainCarp I hope so, it just doesn't seem clear who I actually talk to about it?

Having growth scans for a big baby and she said today they aren't always accurate ?!
So I'm currently 4lbs 9 at 31.5 wks and was 97th centile at previous scans so if she continues to grow big will they not take that into consideration? I just felt that was a bit contradictory of her who initially said my bump was measuring off scale and having growth scans for a 'larger baby'

Just be nice to talk it through with someone as feel like I'm getting anxious now x

2littleloves · 30/05/2022 20:15

Thank you
@Lianna93 and @ChinChilly!

@beetree1 I'm only 32 weeks on Wednesday! Now to find something to keep me entertained until baby arrives! Thankfully I've been full on nesting for months now and it's only getting worse so cleaning/organising everything in sight!! Yes we decided to find out again this time, we are having our first baby girl after 2 boys!

Wow hopefully baby doesn't come as early as the last! I'm kind of hoping ours doesn't come as early as her brothers as I want to enjoy every bit of this last pregnancy. Feel like I've aged 20 years this time round it's been rough!

How's everyone feeling about birth? I'm trying not to think too much about it yet until my midwife can give me more clarity on what my options with be!

SamanthaVimes · 30/05/2022 20:39

@2littleloves Iโ€™m trying not to think too much about the birth. Iโ€™m 34 weeks tomorrow so itโ€™s hopefully a little while away yet, donโ€™t want to get worked up for it too early!

JJ1992 · 30/05/2022 20:58

We mentioned birth plans in my 32 week appt last week but other than that I havent thought much about it. Planning on going with the flow and listening to my body but not sure if this is a blissfully naieve plan!!
Kinda feel like its in there now, gotta come out somehow and Im gonna trust the professionals to guide me though! Also got the labour anteneatal class soon hopefully will feel more educated after that! Have any of you girls had your antenatal classes yet?

2littleloves · 30/05/2022 22:12

@SamanthaVimes that's probably the best idea! I feel like after 30 weeks time is so weird, feels like forever to go but no time all at the same time ๐Ÿ™ƒ

@JJ1992 you're so right! They will come out one way or another ๐Ÿคฃ I just want confirmation if I can have my home birth then I'll be able to relax a bit! We aren't currently running antenatal classes with my health board, for the same reason as to why I waiting to hear about home birth, we have a shortage of midwives! Hopefully they can pluck some out of thin air in the next 8 weeks ๐Ÿคฃ

ShellUK09 · 30/05/2022 23:01

@JJ1992 I've had some antenatal classes although at my hospital they were all done online via Zoom. They were still good as you got to hear from the midwives who work there and it felt like you got to know them a bit as the classes were 2 hours long, they also gave you a tour of the hospital rooms. You could ask questions throughout as well. I learnt quite a lot about the practical side of caring for a baby and they made me feel more prepared, as a first timer I've been crying out for info. I had no idea about cord nubs beforehand! Got one more class but it's not until 20th June, think that one is more about breathing techniques and being fit for labour

paintfairy · 31/05/2022 08:05

@strawberrysummer19 I had a letter yesterday about a health visitor appointment on 4 July! (Due date 24th). Mine is in person though. Not sure I'm looking forwards to that?

I seem to have the opposite problem to most of you and my baby is measuring small. I've another growth scan tomorrow (32 weeks) and I'm hoping she's improved a little. They said they will induce me early if she stays small and I don't really want that.
Also have leaking nipples on and off but it's mostly just my right one. ๐Ÿคฃ Only a bit though.
And my baby was transverse too. I'm hoping she's going to move but it still feels like she hasn't. So it'll be interesting to see. I've got my local midwife appointment today. They usually poke about but if not I'll know tomorrow at the scan.
I still have no hospital bag packed. I need to sort that soon. I also need to pick up more pants! I did buy some maternity ones in case of C section. But I maybe need some just normal big ones for otherwise. The ones I have are getting tight now. ๐Ÿคฃ And they have lace tops, which is maybe not ideal for comfort after birth.

MollyRover · 31/05/2022 08:53

Having a lot more movement the last few days and feeling pretty tired- insomnia really killing me. I'm getting about 3 hours then 2 hours per night. Last night was in bed from 7:30pm dozing on and off. It's just so frustrating having to conserve my energy all the time to do what feels like f* all.

Roll on leave, 4 days work to go! Although I do feel a bit of a failure. My DSIL is due a planned delivery (or section?) next week and is only finishing today. Don't know how she's able for it, even if I could go so late (can't go later than 4 weeks before due date here) I'm completely knackered. Off with DC1 and DH next week and can't wait for it, MIL will be able to have DC1 overnight for the next 2 Saturdays so we can have a little bit of quality time both on our own and with some friends. It's been over 2 months since we had dinner out together so really needed...

missv556 · 31/05/2022 09:44

I was rebooked for a 2nd gtt but I've cancelled it. Not doing it, they can fuck right off. Already done it and I didnt have GD. My baby is just big, simple as. No rhyme or reason to it. I am sick to death of being proded and probed and scanned. It's beginning to stress me out tbh. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow but its not with my own midwife cos she's off this week. But I'm gonna make it clear that I want a c section 100%, no ifs or buts. My body, my choice

beetree1 · 31/05/2022 10:14

@strawberrysummer19 sorry to hear your midwife isn't being very helpful. When they thought my baby was measuring too big my midwife said I would see a consultant then discuss having a c-section / being induced before due date depending on what I preferred. So hopefully your appointment with the consultant will give you the answers you want / need?

@2littleloves awww how lovely to have a little girl! Have you got her name all ready? I'm kind of just winging the birth I had all these ideas with the first and it never happened lol I would really love a water birth but don't want to get my hopes up as there's only one pool.

@MollyRover I feel you with the insomnia I've been suffering badly with acid reflux as soon as I get into bed and I'm barely sleeping. Feel so lazy and grumpy all the time now haha. I'm finishing at 34 weeks next week and that's enough for me. I work in an office and I just can't get comfy and my heart is completely not in it anymore. I've officially checked out!

MollyRover · 31/05/2022 10:34

@beetree1 thanks, at least I don't feel alone in it now! The only time I'm really comfortable is lying down, my bump is too big for much else at this stage. I'm 34 weeks today but have a niggling feeling he'll be here around 38 so giving myself some time to get prepared, emotionally and with all the things we still need! With the house move and work I really haven't had much space for concentrating on myself, himself and pregnancy, apart from 4 sessions of pregnancy yoga. Slowing down a bit and making sure I'm engaging enough with DC1 is really important to me now, going from being an only child to having a sibling will be tough, although they're so lovely, helpful and excited about it ๐Ÿ˜Š

missv556 · 31/05/2022 10:35

@beetree1 my baby is consistently measuring on the 97th centile. I had a consultant call on Saturday and he didn't give me any option really. He just said it would be best to still crack on with a natural birth basically. Didnt ask me what I wanted at all.

beetree1 · 31/05/2022 11:42

@MollyRover I'm also hoping to have some much needed 1 on 1 time with my daughter. That's the main thing I'm really worried about is her feeling pushed out or replaced. Makes me feel awful even though she's really excited I'm just panicking on how to juggle them both.

@missv556 Oh no that's not very helpful! I saw my consultant in person as well and it was much easier to discuss worries etc. I guess it depends who you get my midwife and consultant have been really helpful throughout. Have you had your appointment where you do your birth plan yet? Can you mention then that you would like to opt for an elective c-section?

missv556 · 31/05/2022 12:03

@beetree1 I asked my midwife way back when about when we start the birth plan. Must have been around 20 weeks and she said not until 36 weeks. I think that's pretty late in the game personally especially when I did speak to the consultant and he's toying with the idea of induction at 38 weeks if I continue to measure large at the next scan

MollyRover · 31/05/2022 12:10

@beetree1 , who knows, maybe they'll cope better than we will! The one thing I have in my corner is that I'm not really the favourite parent so maybe they won't even notice that I'm not as available ๐Ÿ˜…

Effram · 31/05/2022 13:27

@strawberrysummer19 scans really are notoriously inaccurate - up to 20% out! What they are really focussing on is whether baby is following its line and growing at the rate they would expect. which centile they are on is not really relevant! some babies will be big and some will be small, they can't all be 50th centile. so if it is following the 97th line that's fine as long as it doesn't suddenly look bigger or smaller than that at the next scan, if that all makes sense!

CaptainCarp · 31/05/2022 13:55

@strawberrysummer19 do you have a face to face with the consultant? I would speak to them about it especially as you're having a "big" baby.
I'm not 100% on which centile my baby is on but it was 5.5lb estimated at 34+2. They induce with diabetes due to the risk of a big baby so I'd have thought an elective c-section would be OK for the same reason.

@ChinChilly my iron levels were fine on my 28 week bloods so no iron supplement. I am still taking pregnancy vitamins & I think they have some in. Also I seem to be eating broccoli quite a bit at the moment because it "goes" as a veg side on most meals & is cheap.

@missv556 did they give a reason why not to have an elective c-section?

I've found a template for birth plan on the NHS website last night so going to print it & take it to my midwife next week to discuss.
No one has really mentioned it & the midwife I saw when my usual 1 was off sick basically signed me off them! Because I was going for growth scabs.
Luckily the usual 1 rang me up & booked me up as the consultants only reference to a the actual birth was booking in a section as baby was breach!

missv556 · 31/05/2022 14:27

@CaptainCarp he went over all the bad things that could happen as a result of natural birth. The only mention made of a c section was to say it isn't without risk either. Didnt say what those risks were. He just decided on balance I'd be better off trying naturally. Didnt ask if I had any questions or concerns or anything

Lianna93 · 31/05/2022 16:04

If anyone is using the badger notes app, there's a section for opening up the conversation about birth plans. It goes through all the options & also has sections for you to add your own thoughts & notes - this will then go straight to your midwife so yous can discuss it :)

Just had my midwife appointment at 34 and 3 and little ones head is already 3/5 ths engaged !
is anyone else mega uncomfortable ? Xx

SamanthaVimes · 31/05/2022 16:11

@missv556 sounds like a crap consultant. How on earth are you expected to decide without all the information?!
Just because he thinks vaginal will be best doesnโ€™t mean it will be for you - you and him could have different risk thresholds / values on what is acceptable to risk. Youโ€™re the one who has to live with any consequences so they should let you make an informed choice!

CatMumFTM22 · 31/05/2022 16:19

@paintfairy I just got a multi-pack of huge pants from M&S for post-birth, they seem great, soft and not too grannyish! Full brief high cuts. I went up a size.
