Oh that's too funny @larrythelizard 😂it dies hate me. All of them said they hadn't posted!

Kate105 · 26/04/2022 10:03

Omg what is Mumsnet on this weather 😂😂😂

Sorry @larrythelizard I know I'm such a catfish 🙈 thank you! Very much enjoying my creeping...

Well. Made H do the sad overtired bedtime last night. The fucker bungled it so I got a 3:30am wake up call because PTSD's nappy wasn't on properly and he was soaked through to his sleeping bag. We are not amused. I hope H doesn't think this excuses him from bedtime duty, since the teacher in me says we need to repeat the exercise until he can get it right... he's WFH today so I'm doing a lot of yawning and sighing so he gets the message 😂

larrythelizard · 26/04/2022 10:50

Haha I can't talk with my triple posting @Minster2012!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 10:57

God this is so annoying
@larrythelizard 😂😂

@Kate105 he def needs more practice

DKDK123 · 26/04/2022 12:13

Laughing at all the repeat posts, mumsnet really doesn't want to play ball these days does it 😂

Just a quick pop on during my lunch break as I found this video on harvesting colostrum that might be good for some people. I don't want to start until I hit the 36 weeks just incase it does trigger things early but I did have one little practice after the video just to try out the hand positioning and I had a tiny leak! It was more clear like water than colostrum but I'm sure if I had kept going there may have been colostrum at the back of it. Makes me so happy that my boobs are ready to do something this time round 🥳

whatwonder · 26/04/2022 15:33

what is this new mumsnet update. honestly.

@DKDK123 that is a lot of info to take in at your appointment, plus being in so much pain, really feel for you! you have done an amazing job keeping Emily safe and we all know how strong you both are! glad to hear that DH is being so attentive, really hope you're able to find some comfortable positions and get some better nights of sleep!!

@2under2in2022 8 hours of monitoring?! oof, that is hectic. like you say, take it one day at a time. you're doing everything you can do to keep you and baby safe and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that your little one stays in there as long as possible! how many weeks are you now?

@InkyPaper 13 weeks, wow! that's really gone by quickly hasn't it! is 13 weeks the start of the 2nd trimester or is that 14 weeks? always get confused with the dates haha 🤔

@Kate105 how annoying, deffo get DH to practice until he gets it right

@larrythelizard glad to hear the chat with new boss went well, hopefully that's a weight lifted!

@Minster2012 oooh what's all in your Aldi haul?

Nappy question - how many nappies should you have ahead of baby being born? I feel like it's probs a good idea to buy some but no clue as to how many we should have on hand? I know it's one of those things that's easy to pop down to the shops to get, but also probs worth having some at home?

2under2in2022 · 26/04/2022 16:08

@DKDK123 I'm glad it's not just me. New MumsNet doesn't like me and I'm not too much of a fan of it now 🫤

For all asking I'm 27+2 ❤️

BellatrixK · 26/04/2022 16:38

@InkyPaper so so pleased to hear about your scan and the sonographer treating you to extra pictures. Well deserved little treat!

@DKDK123 it’s so nice to hear how caring your DH is being (as of course he should be). I totally understand the being strong until sleeping- everything is so much harder to keep together when your tired. Glad that you managed to get a bit of sleep this morning at least. Very impressed with the boob progress too!

@Franklydear I’m the same, I was so chilled and relaxed during my Easter off (even just at home!). Why can’t life be a long holiday? That support sounds useless for your nephew. Is it the school that’s not great?

@larrythelizard it’s always a worry getting a new boss/team, so it’s brilliant that he was great and you feel reassured. Definitely take as much as you feel comfortable with - it’ll be so valuable.

@Minster2012 haha! My DH is exactly the same. We have 1 boy’s name and 1 girl’s name that we both like (not love) and he doesn’t understand why I want to keep talking about names! Love mumsnet trolling you and @larrythelizard

Gosh @2under2in2022 that is really intense even just reading it. It’s good that they are so on it, and monitoring things so closely. Like you said, just focusing on a day at a time is the way.

@Kate105 fellow teacher supporting you here. If he don’t try again, hope will he master the skills?!

I am officially being beaten by nausea. Just got home and was in the bathroom for half an hour lying on the floor and head down the toilet. I swear it’s the most sick I’ve ever felt… but nothing is coming up. It’s only lasting for short bursts of time, and after it’s passed I’m excited thinking at least it seems like a good pregnancy sign?!

Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 16:55

OMG it's just lost my reply too ffs this is awful @2020mission have you seen this horrendous update??

Nearly as bad as the wardrobes drawers for @paintfairy did you (or DH) talk to the joiner?? I agree maybe not use him for the bannisters 😂

@DKDK123 I've just saved that thanks! I got a couple more syringes from midwife on Friday but she said wait until 37 weeks & there's no rush for me but I'm pleased your start looks promising. @bez91 how you getting on with it?

@whatwonder in my Aldi haul is couple of packs of the travel sizes wipes which are good for saving weight in changing bag, some large packs of nappy bags as we use them as dog poo bags too! 2 x maternity leggings, one grey one black. I shall report on sizing when I've tried on as annoyingly they don't do a 10/12, I also got another pack of nappies so I've now got 5 packs of nappies & they are dotted around. So pack for hospital bag, pack for "back up hospital bag", a pack for upstairs changing unit & a pack for downstairs changing unit. My friend who has a 3 week old has again said to me today "I can't believe how many nappies we get through" so I figured get plenty. They also have LOADS of other lovely stuff like the hooded towels which were gorgeous, axel scheffer books, toys and great books for toddlers too

if anyone knows a toddler in need the tom fletcher books "there's a monster/alien/dinosaur in my book" which are such good books for £1.99 at Aldi

@2under2in2022 keep that baby cooking you rest up!

Argh it's not letting me check back so posting this

Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 16:57

@BellatrixK MN trolling us 😂😂have you asked a doctor for anti sickness meds? I think it might be time for that

Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 16:59

Just snuck in a child filled bath whilst our cakes cool down then icing & cooking tea, ahhhh it's the best thing for my back

2under2in2022 · 26/04/2022 17:00

What is this 💩

It doesn't work anymore

2020mission · 26/04/2022 17:05

@Minster2012 I'm quite glad I don't work for a company that has message boards it's bad enough having a load of bugs reported by QA or colleagues never mind the public 😆

larrythelizard · 26/04/2022 17:34

Stupid question on the colostrum syringes @Minster2012 @DKDK123 @bez91 - do you freeze, thaw then feed to baby out of the syringe as and when?

@whatwonder probably not loads in the first size because they grow really quickly and easy to get hold of. Don't think DS was in size 1 for more than about a month although he did get through a LOT of them as he hated the feeling of a wet nappy as a newborn!

Jeez @2under2in2022 sounds like you've done amazingly to get to 27+2!!

Got to be a good sign @BellatrixK - when's your scan? Agree on the meds if it's affecting your life so much. Heartburn meds have literally revolutionised my life!

Ooh DS has none of those books and would love them @Minster2012 - I may find the time to swing by Aldi and see if my local one has them in!

Pleased you've found some sort of relief for your back @Minster2012

@2020mission I sell IT shit and can imagine what's going on behind the scenes only too well, there will be some people not sleeping at all id imagine! Apparently this upgrade has been 3 years in the making...I'd say they did not test the message board functionality properly before going live 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 17:35

@2020mission I think there's more like a Trojan horse in their system than bugs it's so bad! I can post one pic but not two? Then take off one & it won't let me post at all, but actually does post that post a million times! Wtaf?!

@2under2in2022 yup awful 😂

Right cakes done now it's iPad/chill time whilst cooking phew! I don't know why ppl think I don't like pink, I do! As does X (his choice of topping had to be pink icing!)

Franklydear · 26/04/2022 18:17

@BellatrixK its the school and the country, the get on with it mentality, and nobody helps, and children get left behind, I am going to send her some materials from the British dyslexia association
@Kate105 we can see through that, I would say he needs consistency, so every night until it's right
@Minster2012 glad you found some relief
What is it with men and names, it's kind of important

BellatrixK · 26/04/2022 19:03

@Franklydear My DH has dyslexia and when he was younger, the LA he was in ‘didn’t believe in dyslexia’. Luckily, his mum challenged it… but that was 20 years ago. At least she has you to help!

@Minster2012 and @larrythelizard I haven’t thought of them yet, as it’s only been bad for the last few days and it doesn’t last long really. But I have my booking in appointment tomorrow though so I might mention it. Thank you for the advice though.

@2under2in2022 it is so bad. Often when I’m trying to refresh the page it won’t load at all.

@2020mission I definitely couldn’t work in IT… bet you get stupid questions far too often!

Franklydear · 26/04/2022 19:27

@BellatrixK ds has dyslexia and all I ever got from a teacher is let’s see how I can help, that’s the only reason I know enough to say hang on a minute, try this and that, but without the help of school is very hard and taking him out of key subject lessons is just criminal, lad needs an education, one way or another
@2020mission @larrythelizard working in it must be the staff of nightmares

bez91 · 26/04/2022 19:42

@DKDK123 oh that's lovely of your DH 🥰 I have pure pregnancy rage at mine today, I single parented all week last week as he had that many call outs which is fine then he's come home from work today and his #1 priority is to plant some plants in the garden 🤷‍♀️ the getting comfy for sleep is such a challenge isn't it!? I am hoping for more comfort despite being more knackered in a few weeks. I think @larrythelizard is right, you have adrenaline and hormones to power you through in those first few weeks 💪🏼

@larrythelizard sounds like a good boss, pleading poverty but it's so bloody hard being female and trying to have a career. I think with maternity leave especially you'll always regret not taking enough but you'll never regret taking "too much" so if you can why not

@BellatrixK names are so hard 😩 we have one of each, we have agreed on first names but can't agree on middle names so I don't know what will happen 🙈

@Minster2012 I got conflicting info on when to start between 36/37 weeks so I stated at 36 🙈 it's going ok, it's just having the time tbh at the moment to do it twice a day. I got a decent amount (well 1ml) a couple of days ago but my body has to be in the mood like totally totally relaxed, in bed, over-hydrated, not to a time, undisturbed 😆 so it's been taking up my evening once DD is asleep. Cannot wait for mat leave next week when I'm home alone and can do it as I please!
@larrythelizard yes that's the general jist I think that they can be defrosted or run under a tap to feed (hence why storing in small quantities) TMI but the ones I've frozen (or even kept in the fridge for a couple of hours) look weird as the fatty bit of the colostrum seems to separate from the liquidy bit but I assume once they're normal temp it all mixes together 😬

Minster2012 · 26/04/2022 20:09

Right let's try again!
@larrythelizard they are fab books, if you can't get them I can post on? On the colostrum yes freeze in syringes, date & then try to remember to take to hospital & once defrosted they are ok for a while, as my midwife said I c oh I'd actually just put in fridge but it's pushing it a bit, in fact I think @2020mission said before there's a 6 week rule?

@BellatrixK def ask as you need some relief & it's no issue

@bez91 that's brilliant on the colostrum but loving how your body has to be in the mood 😂. DH thinks middle names are unimportant so he doesn't really care on that front all my choice! Your DH wants to plant plants? Eh?????
Mat leave countdown whoop whoop 🙌🏻

So I spoke to my endocrine consultant at Leeds today (where my care is for steroids) & she said "so what's the birth plan for the hydrocortisone then?" Errrr not discussed. "And when's your next appointment?" 10th may. "Well that's not good enough, so write down what I'd do & get an appointment"

Also had a call from the doctors & they won't prescribe me the pain relief suggested by the midwife without speaking to them.

Luckily my midwife has got me a consultant app tomorrow to try get some resolution on both fronts.

Honestly FFS this shouldn't be down to me

This update was 3 years in the making?? Pahhhhhhhhaaaaaaahhhhhaaaas

Franklydear · 26/04/2022 21:27

Is the person in charge of executing the update working her notice?😜

InkyPaper · 26/04/2022 22:27

@Minster2012 that sounds like a super irritating series of appointments 🙈 why can no departments just talk to each other? It's so frustrating that you have to try and sort it all yourself

@bez91 he came home and started doing the gardening?! Sounds like my DH 😂 he gets an idea in his head and he just has to go do it, regardless of what else needs doing. I'm learning so much about colostrum from this thread! I had no idea that it didn't just...happen. Which sounds stupid now I write it down 😂

@whatwonder I'll be honest, I genuinely have no idea! There seems to be some discrepancy in the various apps and trackers as to when first trimester ends, so on some I'm now in second trimester and on others I'm at the end of the first trimester. It's all very confusing

@larrythelizard either they didn't test the message board properly or they only tested it with like 20 people using it at once 😂

@BellatrixK sounds daft but are you eating regularly? My nausea always got a million percent worse when I was even slightly hungry. Either way, perhaps something to mention at your booking in appointment tomorrow? Hope it goes well!

I told my manager's manager today as the team is having an away day tomorrow and I figured it would be a handy way to tell people in one go. She was thrilled and immediately asked what timeslot I wanted in the agenda 😂 very lucky that I'm in a great team at work, my manager is super supportive as is his manager. Still feels weird telling people I'm pregnant though 😂 I'll start actually feeling pregnant at some point, right?!

DKDK123 · 27/04/2022 02:50

@whatwonder I'd buy a small pack of a few different brands of nappies to try out incase your LO is allergic or doesn't quite get on with a particular brand before stocking up. I used to find I'd need to brand hop a few times as he grew as some fit him better than others or caused less leaks depending on what size he was at the time.

@BellatrixK pregnancy nausea isn't fun at all just keep holding onto the fact that it's a good sign it means all those hormones are doing something inside your body to grow that baby, and that it's not forever it will pass in a few weeks (tho it may randomly rear its ugly head for a week or two at the end of 2nd tri/beginning of 3rd as a few of us experienced)

@larrythelizard I know on the NHS site it says if you want to take your colostrum syringes to hospital then to freeze and date them then on the day bring them to hospital in a cool bag with ice pack and the nurses will store them according to their facilities so I was going to leave the working out of the thawing and when/how to give to them 😂 I know at home you can defrost stored bags of milks in the fridge or in warm water if you want to use it promptly. It's all new to me too as I didn't manage with DS so I'd best read up a bit more on it!

@Minster2012 all I seem to do is bake cakes with DS at the moment as it's one of the few activities I can do with him quietly at the table .......although you were at least proper baking, I've resorted to packet mixes where I just need to chuck in an egg and get him to mix 😂
Very frustrating on the lack of communication between the people caring for you, it shouldn't be up to you to run about chasing up and passing info on 😡

@bez91 I'd have sent DD out to the garden to 'help' him 😉 I did read on the stored milk that it will separate but to give a shake to mix it back together before feeding and it's fine so don't worry.

@InkyPaper fab that you've got a supportive manager and that it's out in the open now 😁 You definitely will feel pregnant at some point......then you may be wishing you felt just a little bit less pregnant particularly in the uncomfy kung fu baby latter stages 😂

Today is officially my last working day before mat leave kicks in 🥳 Then DS is travelling down to my mums tonight to stay until Friday night so that I can have a few days of proper respite and DH has the whole weekend off for when DS returns so not even sleep deprivation can get me down today when I know I have some proper rest days ahead.
We haven't told DS the exact date she's coming out but he can sense that it's soon as his growing excitement is becoming like the lead up to Christmas hysteria that those with kids will know and understand is hellish scraping them off the ceiling every day 😂 He keeps coming up and shouting to my belly "Come out, come out Emily, I know you've grown mega big now I can see mummy's tummy is too too fat so that means you need to come and meet me now!" 😂
I asked about our hospitals visiting policy now but still no visitors at all except the Dad and he's only got 2 time slots a day 😔 I don't mind about grandparents etc bit I would have liked for DS to be allowed a quick visit to meet her. The good news is she said they're discharging people ASAP even sections as long as they've went well can be home into the community midwife care as soon as the next day. I'm not holding my breath for a next day discharge as they're expecting me to lose a lot of blood again but hoping I might only be 2-3days if they're aiming for quick discharging 🤞

Franklydear · 27/04/2022 06:38

@DKDK123 I would ask the midwives if they’ll allow a sneaky quick visit for ds to meet his sister, you’ll be surprised what they’ll allow if they feel is right

Minster2012 · 27/04/2022 07:13

Morning ladies throat like 🪒 here!

@DKDK123 aww it's so lovely he wants to meet her now, not long left! Unfortunately my friend was in for a week & DS wasn't allowed into the ward. They said they could go to the cafe & meet there but not on the ward, but it's always worth an ask. Last working day AMAZING and some time off whoop whoop

@InkyPaper sooooo pleased you told your work & they are lovely bout it that's so fab. I started to feel pregnant at around 20 weeks or even just after as didn't really show at all & wasn't fussed about shouting it from the rooftops
