Talking of which, bunting & wreath are up 👑

Minster's 8th Side Car - Best not let the men see our post-partum bodies eh?!
Minster2012 · 31/05/2022 18:20

Also. One last thing. It's lovely island starting soon, which I think is PERFECT mat leave /feeding viewing, much easier than silent witness, where, now there is a running story as opposed to just the 2parts, @larrythelizard im DEF gonna lose track of due to baby brain!

Minster2012 · 31/05/2022 18:21

LOVE island. Ffs. See!

Soph0105 · 31/05/2022 18:58

Feeling marginally better, think there is light at the end of the tunnel. H of course has man flu which is so much worse than mine so go figure 🙄

Yuck for AF and awkward neighbours. We have some VERY interfering neighbours who I cannot wait to get shot of! On the other hand, our next door neighbours are awesome and I'm really going to miss them when we move.

Soooooo our house went on Rightmove this afternoon and we've already got 2 viewings tomorrow! OMG

larrythelizard · 31/05/2022 19:14

Yeah I spotted it wasn't just a two parter @Minster2012 which I don't think I'm in for, I like that's it's different every week!

I wasn't sure if I was prepared to commit to love island but I think I will @Minster2012 - its something to do! Bunting is looking very patriotic!

Ooh excellent work @Soph0105 - two viewings!

hi everyone, still here, still pregnant. in laws arrived this week so have been busy catching up with them (hoping to get some face time in with them now and then ignore them for a while so I can focus on getting this baby out).

@Lexber glad the doctor took you seriously, and I hope the gaviscon makes a difference. your night routine sounds pretty full on. and unbelievably unfair that you already got AF.

@Juno231 that is so frustrating about your neighbour. I would definitely bring up her works next time she has an unreasonable demand "hmm that might be tricky to ask of the builders, when you did all the works on your house, how did you manage to get the builders to agree to that?"

@paintfairy hope the scan goes well, and hopefully you were able to get some reassurance from the MW. I've been seeing the same MW for practically all my visits but the information she's given me seems to be quite different to friends of mine who are at the same trust who see different MWs, so not sure what to make of anything really!

@Soph0105 @bez91 hope you're both feeling better!

@Minster2012 I'm afraid to ask what your plans are for the BH weekend, I'll probably be exhausted just reading them!

@larrythelizard hope you get your GTT results soon and with no dramas! and lovely that your sister can come visit.

@BellatrixK hope you're having a lovely holiday! where in Egypt are you? and how was your experience at the airport, I've seen some shocking videos of people queueing for hours trying to leave the UK!

officially over being pregnant now. have got an acupuncture appointment today and then going for a reflexology appointment on Friday. also having as many 🍆 sessions as possible. Managed to collect 1ml of colostrum yesterday which was a win! but welcome any other tips for getting baby out!

paintfairy · 01/06/2022 08:52

@Minster2012 migraine? I thought that should stop after birth? Aaarrrgghhh. Lovely island sounds better! 🤣 And see below update for the joiner.
Soph0105 flu season is over. You can't have flu. 🤣 Sounds awful. I hope you are all better soon! 🤞Exciting about the house.
@larrythelizard yeah the drink sounds less than fun. I hope your results are OK though! I got told my veins were bouncy and awkward? No idea what that means.
@juno231 yeah the MIL would piss me off. But then anyone in my house taking over and telling me what to do would piss me off. Please leave. 🤣
@Lexber I'm glad you have a plan with Elsie and can look forwards. As for AF - WTF?!
@bez91 the measuring puts me 3 weeks behind which hits the 10th centile and so is the trigger. Oddly I measured only 1 week behind last time (the scan was then terrible) so I've no idea what to think now!
@Vil10 I've sat keep seeing reference to your single digit weeks with absolutely no clue what it meant. Its finally clicked. My brain atm is literally not working. 🤣 But yes- ots scary. From today I can say I'm due next month. 😱
@Franklydear I don't seem to have time to read too many AIBU posts any more but I still enjoy the odd one here and there. 🤣 Somehow cheers me up.

Back hol - we are at a friend's for a bbq Friday afternoon. Sunday I'll likely be packing if we do end up going away Monday. There's a street party Saturday but DH is out at a band thing in the afternoon. Thursday i need to do some weed killing at the horses (this hinges on my ability to walk, as suddenly I'm crippled with my back/hips).

So- more joiner debacle. Mum asked someone she knew who's OH is a joiner if he could sort our banister before the baby arrives. The rest of the hall will have to just wait. But at least it's then safe. He's taken ages to get back to me with the quote. But I honestly nearly fell off the sofa when it came. Problem is- I've no idea if it's about right or what? This is for a new hand and base rail, 3 newel posts, a half newel and spindles (25 ish by my reckoning). Plain square softwood. We have a 90 degree turn at the top making it more awkward than a straight set of stairs but it's by no means that unusual for someone that knows what they are doing. He's quoted £1700?!
I may be way off but I was expecting more the £1000 mark? I literally cannot pay £1700 for just that? But I don't know what to say as I've no idea if it's over priced or I'm just deluded. 🙈🤣
Either way- christ knows what we are going to do......

Minster2012 · 01/06/2022 09:47

I'm prepared to commit to my brain turning off each day @larrythelizard cos that's my perm state currently!

Good luck with the scan @paintfairy so on the back of that are you gonna decide on a holiday? A joiner here charges roughly £20/25 per hour so then materials on top, not sure where that leaves you as depends how much work but it seems pretty hefty?

No migraine here today! Yeyyyy, hoping to go into town over lunch to eeek, change a couple of presents we got a gift receipt for & hoping to meet my friend too 🤞🏻

Minster2012 · 01/06/2022 09:48

Oooo @whatwonder do you have an eviction plan for if you go over?

Juno231 · 01/06/2022 10:02

@paintfairy that sounds more like London prices to me lol - I would have expected more like 1k as well... problem is I bet you can't even get quotes from anyone else for comparison!

@Minster2012 aaah lovely bunting - can't wait to do stuff like that to when we have a "real" house at the end of these renovations.

Update on the house - the stuff neighbour was moaning about this week has been dealt with yesterday (ie covering the bare roof on our house), but instead she bombarded me with pics yesterday of some of our windows on the 1st floor being left open... so?! I didn't even open the messages so it's not registered as read.

@whatwonder have they offered you a sweep yet? would you take it? Bounce on your yoga ball and go for walks is the only thing I can add to your list... Hopefully the reflexology works, I'm planning on scheduling a labour inducing session in too!

@Soph0105 two viewings already!! madness.

bez91 · 01/06/2022 11:50

@minster2012 never watched Love Island (it’s a big commitment haha!) but think I will this year as can catch up in the day, yayyy to no migraine. Snap here too wahooo! Enjoy lunch out with your friend

@soph0105 that’s great – fingers crossed for a quick sale for you!

@whatwonder afraid no advice for bringing labour on, I think walking worked for me the first time but could be a coincidence, keep at the *aubergine enjoy your free time too and relax. Any talk of a plan if things don't by themselves

@paintfairy it may be a little overpriced but I would expect around that to be honest in Midlands area, most subbies I use at work would probably charge more even smaller outfits; price of timber has increased massively in the past 2 years its ridiculous and labour too in line with cost of living, maybe try get a comparative cost if you can?
I need to get a bespoke baby gate made up which nothing will fit in the opening, expecting that to be a shock. Good luck with the scan today, keep up posted

Life admin day today talking of £££, I enquired with the nursery DD goes to about a term time only booking for when Z starts as obvs we’ll need to book time off when DD off school anyway. Little did I know they operate on a different fee structure which is a lot more expensive, I just assumed they’d charge 39 weeks instead of 52! No. So it works out only about £500 more to send him throughout the year for the 3 days a week so we’re going to do that instead of having to juggle paying for extra sessions we may need if we struggle for childcare out of term time – madness!

Minster2012 · 01/06/2022 11:53

OMG @Juno231 you left your windows open?!! The scandal. YOUR windows?! Wtf she's clearly deranged 😂. Will you be having gnomes after the renovations?? Do I remember that right? Maybe I have a good long term memory but no capacity for what's going on currently in my brain 😂🙈

@Soph0105 come on house!! That's fab, let's hope they love it (so you don't have to then keep it tidy & clean constantly!) 😂

Franklydear · 01/06/2022 12:01

@paintfairy we need an aibu to check we’re not that crazy yet
@Juno231 your neighbour looks like an annoying busybody, I get on with my neighbours by method of not engaging with them, on the mil, I have to go to them so no escape, the good/bad thing, I married so young and long ago, they really treat me like one of their kids
@Minster2012 yei for no migraine! I am wearing very colourful patterned flowy trousers, you’ll be proud
dh says we need to go for a long drive so the car battery won’t die, so I chose the Sandy beach, about two hours away, don’t laugh, here there’s pebbles on the beach, marine defences they say
@Vil10 finally, a house! get nesting now
@Lexber hard work but glad you found your rhythm, and some help for Elsie

i found a nice swimming pool at a reasonable price close to work, so hopefully I can go a few times a week

paintfairy · 01/06/2022 13:21

@Minster2012 yes I thought I'd just wait to book it until after I knew things seemed OK. Rather than lose money. I reckon my last joiner charged about £200 a day, but I'm not sure.
@whatwonder it sounds like you are already doing everything! Bar giving it an eviction notice. 🤣
@juno231 open windows? What?! 🤔 Yeah good idea- don't open the messages.
@bez91 they must be charging £500 labour a day is all I can work out! 🤣 I'm tempted to do it myself. 🤭 Not sure where I'm meant to magic that money from. Bloody hell on the nursery. Yes I would expect that too? How ridiculous. Everything is a joke. 🤬
@Franklydear yes it helps me stay sane. Although some do make me angry reading them!

Scan update- better news. The sonographer asked how I was when I went in. I said stressed. 🤣 And explained. She was actually really lovely. Said her own baby was measuring 10th centile or just below all the way through and was born 6lb 10oz perfectly healthy. No issues. And some babies are small but it's fine. She was reassuring doing the scan as well and looking at my last centiles etc. Managed to get a head measurement today but she was being awkward all round mostly. 🤣 But all centiles were back up over 20 this time, abdomen 29th and others higher. And my EFW is now 9th centile. Which although still low- its better than the 6th it was last time. So I didn't need to see anyone. I've got my consultant call Monday. But she said they'll likely just carry on with the scans and monitoring and check that things stay consistent. So fingers crossed they do. 🤞
Useless midwife from yesterday hasn't sent my iron prescription through to my GP though. 🙄 So now I have to chase that.

feliznavidad2 · 01/06/2022 13:48

Glad scan was better this time @paintfairy that's really reassuring. I have no idea how much joiners cost so I'm no use...

Your neighbour sounds mental @Juno231

Lots of luck for the viewings @Soph0105

Ooh following to hear your eviction plans with interest @whatwonder - have also heard good things about reflexology and acupuncture🤞🏻

Bunting looks fab @Minster2012 and lovely comment from MIL!

If everyone recommends Love Island, I may jump on the bandwagon...

I've been itchy so had obstetric cholestasis bloods done on Monday and it's come back showing I've got it again. I had it during last pregnancy with DS, and ended up being induced at 37ish weeks because of it. Really keen to avoid induction this time if at all possibly (albeit not to the detriment of baby, ofc).

I've got 36 week scan and consultant appt a week on Friday and weekly blood monitoring now to check on the bile acid levels. Doctor at the hospital said guidance has changed a bit since last time and I may be able to push induction to 39 weeks which atleast gives me a chance.

Soph0105 · 01/06/2022 15:34

Well @paintfairy was right, flu season is over. We've all got the rona 🤦🏼‍♀️ viewings pushed back until next week. Didn't realise there was a separate strain of man covid also doing the rounds, H is not coping well 🙄 if the covid doesn't take him I think I might be putting him under the patio after all...

feliznavidad2 · 01/06/2022 16:45

Oh no @Soph0105 🙈 hope you all get well soon, and hope H doesn't umm succumb to the patio... 😂

Minster2012 · 01/06/2022 18:07

Argh wrote a long reply & lost it ffs.

@Soph0105 noooooo you spent so long avoiding it!! I've heard it's particularly bad for man folk...though a new patio might be a great selling point for the house?

@paintfairy that's great on the growth, honestly I think it's all BS. Someone I know has just given birth at over 40 weeks, and she (apparently) had a HUGE bump that required a support girdle that went over her shoulders & helped to hold bump up. She was told baby measuring big but they weren't concerned & I don't know how big. Anyway, healthy baby born at 6lb 10! No idea how that came about as B was more than that at just under 37 weeks! I hope that was the Exception but just shows. Don't ask me how much washing has been generated today AFTER I've put a wash on. Bloody girls weeing up their backs 🤦🏼‍♀️

@feliznavidad2 what does the itching mean for baby? Why evict early? Does it drive you mad?!

@Franklydear I am proud of your colourful self, you'd not be at me though as I'm boring in black. B in bright yellow & bright purple though so she's making up for it

Another random thought for you...after all you post partum ladies have said about your AF's appearing I now have added sanitary pads in my changing bag. Life is grim.

2020mission · 01/06/2022 18:18

@Minster2012 girls worse than boys with nappy changes? I thought anything would be better than the pee fountains. Also I had no idea until I had Matthew that baby boys get erections which makes the pee fountains messier! It's grim with the pads but hopefully yours like mine won't come back too soon. I'm dreading the day. In fact I'm so used to no bleeding now I can foresee an embarrassment ahead since I don't even carry sanity products around just incase 😅 I better get prepared.

I will regret saying this @Soph0105 but we seem to have avoided covid this whole pandemic so far. I'm in for a shock when it does hit which is inevitable! My husband gets bad man flu so he won't cope at all 😆 hope it's not too bad for you

We must be due another baby arrival here soon....

2020mission · 01/06/2022 18:19

sanitary products not sanity! 😆

Minster2012 · 01/06/2022 19:11

I DEF need some sanity products if you've got any @2020mission?
Yes I think a girl might be worse!! At least with a boy you can flip the nappy off, get the wave of fresh air & the nappy back over & it catches it, somehow, and I don't know how, when she wees it isn't caught by the nappy underneath, it runs up her back & all over any clothes. I also put old towels on our changing mats so it's not as cold for her & today she weed on one, and on those clothes she was wearing. Somehow (I don't even know how) she went through the next set I JUST put on 30 secs later. (This was last night), she went through the nappy onto her sheet & mattress protector then was sick in my bed after a burping. today she's weed on another towel, then pood on the next. That was all after I put a wash on 🤦🏼‍♀️add that to X coming back from preschool in a full clothes change cos he got wet in the sand pit, a DH who wears one pair of trousers per day AND my post partum sweating and i am now officially running a laundrette 🤦🏼‍♀️😂and that's if X hasn't wet the bed either. Ffs

Oh and you wait til he can talk about his erection @2020mission. X has always said "my Willy is fizzy I don't like it" 😆🙊apparently his friend says similar so it must be a weird feeling I guess

feliznavidad2 · 01/06/2022 19:43

Ooft, changing girls sounds hard work @Minster2012 🙈 it was bad enough last time with DS, he was a vommy little thing though. Hope the laundrette closes shop for the bank hol?! 😉 😂

I agree @2020mission - @whatwonder is nearly up!

It means that the bile acid levels in a pregnant woman's blood are elevated which has been found to increase the likelihood of baby passing meconium, premature labour, admission to a neonatal unit and in a small amount of women (those with severely high levels) still birth. My levels never went dangerously high last time but it's still associated with increased likelihood of fetal distress - just would have preferred to escape it... but did know this was likely in future pregnancies.

I'm on treatment for it now and weekly bloods so that's reassuring, if they go over a really high level, that's when they'd talk about imminent induction otherwise as long as the bile acid levels stay fairly low, hopefully they'll let me keep going.

feliznavidad2 · 01/06/2022 19:43

Lengthy reply was for @Minster2012 doh

Vil10 · 01/06/2022 22:37

Thankyou all so much on the comments about the house and for listening to me rant for the last 3/4 months!! (Can't believe that's how long it's been) it's definitely been a stressful journey but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, a week tomorrow and we'll be in🥳
Nothing much to update here, nothing came up on my app about my wee that showed for a possible uti but it did say to pick up an iron tablets prescription from the chemist, so been taking those this week, got my next midwife appointment next Wednesday so will ask about my urine then, and also got a letter through for a phone call app with the anaesthetist on the 27th when I'll be 35 weeks, think it's about my back operation and epidurals, options, etc, I ideally don't want one anyway but when I had my operation 2 years ago my surgeon did say something about child birth being a struggle so I'm praying induction/section isn't brought up, obviously it's something I'll happily agree to for the safety of my baby but I really wanted a fully natural birth, so hope they have good news for me🤞🏼

Also am I the only one who hasn't had leaky boobs?? Even though I know it doesn't determine if you can BF, I keep thinking what if it does mean that, ahhh the constant debates we have with ourselves🤦🏽‍♀️

@whatwonder ahhh you're so close! How bloody exciting!!

@BellatrixK hope you have a lovely holiday, not at all jealous🙄

@InkyPaper any chance of any bump pics?? Also completely get the whole worry of bumps, 2 of my close friends have had babies and they were both so small with cute little bumps, whereas i felt mine was so big compared, but I've told myself to get a grip, we're growing a human and we're all different so who cares!! (However I did cry over my first stretch mark the other day and I feel so fat, my thighs have expanded and the tops of my arms and my face has gone chubbier, but we move)

@DKDK123 the sleep deprivation is definitely worth it, your pictures melt me🥰 wow look at all that liquid gold you collected!!

@larrythelizard you're definitely right about FIL, will absolutely be his loss!! Woooo for your holiday in June, will be lovely to get away just before baby arrives!! We don't get tested randomly got GD here, only if we're st risk, I feel like it should be something that's checked though

@bez91 piles and palpitations do not sound fun!! Hope it starts easing soon x

@Juno231 oh god your neighbour would drive me insane!!! Surely she knows at some point you would've been having work done? I don't know how you keep calm, I'd end up sending her a very arsey email back!! It's crazy when you think about the single digits isn't it!! Ahhh how exciting! I always think "what was I doing 9 weeks ago" 😂

@Lexber you're doing an amazing job lady!! Also yes to getting out and meeting new mums, that'll definitely help clear the mind!! But af already?? That's definitely not fair!!

@Minster2012 love the bunting and wreath!! Also bonus compliment from MIL! Yesss for love island!! Cannot wait to be watching it settled in the new house!

@paintfairy omg you're due next month, that's so exciting!! Have you got majority things done and prepared? I haven't at all🙄😂 I'm rubbish with joiners and quotes, I'm clueless so not sure if that's a good or bad one...
So glad the scan went well and better than you thought it would!! Bet you feel so much more at ease and reassured!!

@Franklydear oh I wish the house meant nesting, lots of decorating, windows and wardrobes spraying, fireplace being knocked out, wall being knocked down, furniture being delivered, before any nesting can start🥴 ooo yes to a good swimming pool near work, I find swimming so relaxing too!!

@feliznavidad2 who'd have thought itching was linked to bile acid!! I've had such bad acid reflux again, some physically came up in my mouth yesterday and it was awful, is they linked?? Glad you're reassured by the weekly bloods and treatment hopefully they do the job and you won't need to be induced as early🤞🏼
