@Billymay I'm sorry to hear the reactions you've received, it's really not helpful. I've had comments including it's about time as my DD is 5. Admittedly the people who said that have no idea I've had 3 losses since having my DD, but it still stings. I'm sorry for the loss of your mum.

@annlee3817 thank you. Yep felt rotten for almost 48 hours now and paracetamol and using bowls of steaming hot water aren't doing anything 🤦‍♀️🙄 thats a good tip about Google Chrome, I have noticed the app to be pretty glitchy at times.

annlee3817 · 23/04/2022 10:50

@Billymay sorry you've had that reaction, and sorry you lost your Mum too :(

Anyone else on here super anxious for their 20 week scan?? Mine isn't until the second week of may and I constantly feel anxious over it just want to get this one out the way now so I can relax x

Carebear99 · 23/04/2022 17:56

@Sweetbabydust1989 yes! I am petrified and so anxious about my 20w scan. Mine is next Wed but I have been dreading it for weeks, I am older (aged 39) and overweight so I am just convinced something will be wrong. Time will go by, it has for me, I have literally been counting down the days.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 23/04/2022 19:05

@Carebear99 I have like another 17 days to go and the wait feels like forever I had a private scan done on Tuesday for reassurance I am more anxious time than I was with my bits due to my 2 ectopics last year I will definitely feel more relaxed once I no baby is all good I just can't feel much movement yet due to the anterior placenta had it with my boys so no the drill on that one. Yours will be fine lovely I think we're all going to get anxious they say it's natural I am 33 so still worry about things I have anxiety disorder so these waits kill me thankfully my partner is so good and we both agreed to do a private one in between schedule scans to ease it a bit xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 23/04/2022 19:06

*boys not bits 😂🙈

Carebear99 · 23/04/2022 19:10

@Sweetbabydust1989 thank you, similar with me as I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I have had a fair few private scans, I've got a posterior placenta but haven't felt baby move yet I don't think. I'm 20+1 but had a private scan last Monday and have a doppler so I know she is still alive. Pregnancy is hard going, emotionally. I was 18 last time I had a baby, it was so easy then.

Good luck when you do have your scan, I'm sure it'll all be fine which is what I'm trying to tell myself. I'll just be glad when it's over. I'm glad mine is really, 840am.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 23/04/2022 19:37

@Carebear99 oh I no that feeling I was 22 when I had my first 24 when I had my second and now 33 for this little one shame by body feels like an out of warranty car 😂oh you will start getting those jabs soon. This one is a girl had 2 scans to confirm it as we were in disbelief partner thinks he only creates boys lol I honestly won't believe it until baby is here I am struggling to refer to baby as a girl think we are still in shock lol. Mine is early too but have to go to London for it as it's at the fetal medicine hospital so. I have had far too many scans but it's lovely seeing baby from basically a sac all the way through just think we will all have our little ones soon time is going quickly xx

GlitteryGreen · 23/04/2022 21:21

@Sweetbabydust1989 Yes I am proper nervous about the 20 week scan, if anything even more so than 12 weeks because everyone knows about the baby now. The thought of getting bad news is hard enough on its own, without thinking of how we'd need to tell everyone we know. Really hope it will be ok 🤞 Mine's on Wednesday.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 23/04/2022 22:17

@GlitteryGreen oh I no it's awful isnt it i wish mine was sooner they seem to be over fully booked for this particular scan. Be nice to see little one again and can start getting a few little bits not the big bits yet I want something to do when I go on leave xx

MummyToBe2022 · 24/04/2022 07:11

Hi all, just joining this thread as I'm due 10th September. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow but I've been having scans every 2 weeks due to short cervix after lletz treatment in 2014. Cervix currently measuring at 26.2 but was previously 28.4 two weeks before.
Obviously will find out new measurements tomorrow and a plan if I'm under 25.
This is our 3rd child and will be our last due to all the stress and anxiety of it all

Peauela · 24/04/2022 09:03

@GlitteryGreen it's the same here in Ireland unless you go private. I've seen a midwife once at my 12 week scan and if I have any concerns I can only call emergency, which I did two times because my round ligament pain is really bad, and they were so not helpful and I spoke with a different person on each occasion who doesn't even know my circumstances. I don't know, just seems a bit weird that there's no relationship to be had with a midwife. I'm looking forward to my 20 week appointment with a doctor and then a scan two days after to see what way they will carry that out. Not having high expectations though.

@Sweetbabydust1989 that's awful. I hope they take things more seriously. There's only one hospital in my city so i don't have a choice 😂 I think we have our 20 week scans close together, mine is at 21 weeks on the 13th May. I do feel a bit anxious but I'm trying to stay positive and not stress. On my private scan they found four fibroids so that made me a bit more anxious. Just want to know baby girl is ok.

@MummyToBe2022 hope all is well tomorrow, I'm sure it will be! No one has ever checked my cervix is that normal 😅

MummyToBe2022 · 24/04/2022 09:51

@Peauela it's totally normal not to be checked. I'm only getting regular checks because if having cells removed in 2014. I was never checked with DS and DD as there was no need to

Sweetbabydust1989 · 24/04/2022 10:00

@Peauela mine is the 10th so yes very close together lol I have my cervix length checked as I had cells removed 4 years ago but never had it checked with my boys as I had that op done years after I had them xx

BlueSky57 · 24/04/2022 12:23

Hi again everyone, hope you don’t mind me asking but when are the next midwife appointments meant to be? My experience with midwives has been horrific so far.

I have my 20 week scan on Friday this week - will I see a midwife then? 🤔

I’m then meant to make an appointment with the midwife at 20-something weeks I think but can’t remember what she said as the 16 week ‘appointment’ lasted 2 minutes on the phone without an opportunity for me to make notes or ask questions as I was in work 🙄

First baby for us so any advice on when I should be making appointments and what I should be doing right now would be welcome! I am 19 weeks pregnant today.

annlee3817 · 24/04/2022 12:46

@MummyToBe2022 welcome, I had the same in my last pregnancy due to lletz, shortened to 2.3 at its shortest, I had progesterone pessaries three times a day and then was signed off at 31 weeks as my cervix was soft and baby engaged, so was told to pretty much stay with my feet up, I went to 40+5.

I'm being monitored this time, next scan in just under two weeks to check my cervix, hope all goes well for you tomorrow

annlee3817 · 24/04/2022 12:48

@BlueSky57 if you look in your green book it will stipulate how many appointments you have, from memory it's usually from now 24 weeks and then 28, can't remember after that. As I'm second my next isn't until 28 weeks

Ambii · 24/04/2022 13:21

@annlee3817 It's bizarre how maternity care differs! I'm 2nd too but was told appointments are the same and I'm seeing MW at 25 weeks same as 1st time ladies, which I'm happy about but surely there should be consistency across the board - clearly something midwifery is lacking going off everyone's experiences! Has anyone had a telephone appointment with consultant? I'm low risk on paper but due to emergency CS under GA and large birth weight of my son coupled with fetal distress and resuss after birth, I'm consultant led but no idea what the call is for. Its been 9 yrs since I had him so also feeling like a first timer again but really appreciating having you ladies!

MummyToBe2022 · 24/04/2022 13:49

@annlee3817 Hi, I'm currently on one pessary at night. Thank you for your experience as it has been very nerve wracking. I work in a school so will be going off at 33 weeks due to the summer holidays. So hoping to get that far.
Hope all goes well for you x

annlee3817 · 24/04/2022 15:42

@MummyToBe2022 I'm the same as you, one pessary at night 🤞

petitlapin1 · 24/04/2022 16:25

Lovely normal 20 week scan here today. Sonographer was great and showed us the heartbeat at the start so I could relax a bit. Talked us through it which was good for my anxiety.

Can go and start measuring up now to check the cot fits in our room (we've moved house since the last time) and the pushchair fits in the boot etc (we've gone through a few cars since last time 8 years ago!). Can start looking out for bargains too :)

Flibbyjibby · 24/04/2022 19:47

I have been quiet on these threads since they started but I do come back and read them. can’t believe we are halfway through this pregnancy already!

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow (at exactly 20 weeks)! I really want to find out the sex this time but my husband doesn’t. Is anybody else in the same boat? Annoys me because I’m the one who buys all the clothes/looks up baby names/ puts all the effort in and I’m just asking to be able to be a bit more prepared this time but he won’t let us find out!!

GlitteryGreen · 24/04/2022 19:55

@BlueSky57 I have my 20 week scan this Wednesday but my next midwife appointment isn't until the end of May, which will be about 24 weeks I think.

Looool @annlee3817 green book?! I don't even have that!! So shocking how different maternity care can be depending on what Health Trust you're under. All I have is the Badger App and Tommys, which I think is a trial thing with my hospital.

GlitteryGreen · 24/04/2022 19:57

@Flibbyjibby My DP doesn't want to find out either, and even though I always thought I would want to, it turns out I actually don't mind...makes it all a bit too real for me, finding out 😂

But he did say if I wanted to, we could, so I definitely think your DH should let it happen if you really want to, especially as it's you doing all the organising etc.

stimpyyouidiot · 24/04/2022 20:24

@Flibbyjibby that's a shame... if you want to I'd maybe say I would find out and not tell him. You are the one carrying and birthing the baby after all!

I like to plan, decide names, pick outfits etc. and although I'm not someone who gives a crap about stereotypes it does affect what I'd buy!
