@IzzyLeigh it's a good job I sleep on my left anyways!! I have an anterior placenta ie on my front and on top of baby, often wondered if this was dangerous?? I hear it's very common and fine but the placenta is bloody huge! I asked to see it when it was delivered after my c section and I was shocked at how big it was !!

IzzyLeigh · 19/04/2022 13:34
@ShiningStarz I'm assuming maybe left since that's what they recommend for sleeping? More blood flow to the baby = more movement? Once we're all having regular movement, we should do an experiment and see if lying on a particular side for a short period of time makes any difference over the other!
For clarification on the above, I meant the following:
Once we're all having regular movement, we should do an experiment and see if lying on a particular side for a short period of time makes any difference in increased movement over the other!

@ShiningStarz I've got the same placenta placement and I haven't heard anything about any different sleep recommendations for anterior placenta besides the standard advice of sleeping on your side, preferably the left side. It is a good question though. I'll ask my doctor next week at my appt and will report back!

@IzzyLeigh

Has anyone been developing linea nigra yet? If so, when did you first see it and where? I thiiiink maybe I'm developing it, but it's super faint and down really low (completely pubic region and only there). For those who have had it before, does it tend to develop kind of all at once or does it spread? Like, for me, do you think it'll stay where I'm seeing it now or will it maybe start growing upwards in the days/weeks to come?
I never had a linea nigra with DD and no sign of one this time. I have, however, grown quite a nice belly beard 🤣 not even ashamed of it.
annlee3817 · 19/04/2022 13:53

I had Linea Nigra last time from the bottom of my bump to the top, but nothing yet, am sure it had started developing by now with DD, mine grew slowly last time

HaresHoping · 19/04/2022 14:02

@TotoAnnihiliation I have a belly beard too! My DH refuses to say he can see it's there but I can 😂😂😂

TotoAnnihiliation · 19/04/2022 14:09

@HaresHoping - I'm quite proud of it 🤣 it's my body responding to what is happening inside and that id pretty special.

Carebear99 · 19/04/2022 14:12

No linea nigra here either but my belly is more hairy, is that what you mean by a belly beard?

MOLWI · 19/04/2022 14:50

@nearly8 @Carebear99 @IzzyLeigh my 20 week scan is also on 27th! I still haven't felt movement either but have anterior placenta so not too worried xx

TotoAnnihiliation · 19/04/2022 14:52

@Carebear99

Yes - that's what I mean. Mines looks like teenage bumfluff 🤣
MOLWI · 19/04/2022 14:57

Oh and my belly also looks like it has more peach fuzz hahah

Carebear99 · 19/04/2022 15:05

@TotoAnnihiliation that's funny...I noticed earlier I have the same!

ShiningStarz · 19/04/2022 16:17

@IzzyLeigh I have a linea nigra from belly button to pubic area. I can't see it lol, DP pointed it out !! Last. Then though it was the whole bump but much later in pregnancy.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 19/04/2022 17:36

Anyone suffering with horrible round ligament pain and sciatica pains it's bloody awful spoke to my midwife today as I was panicking like mad about these weird pains and that's what she thinks they're have a private scan booked for tomorrow hoping my baby is ok anxiety is too the max today xx

Em85kk · 19/04/2022 19:21

@Sweetbabydust1989 yep! Sciatica comes and goes but just been away and wearing sandals has set it off. Ligament pain is everyday at the moment, but my belly has just gone massive so sure it’s all related. Lower back pain too, but I think having an anterior placenta can make that worse?

Had the odd feeling of movements but it’s so hard to tell. Nothing regular yet, which doesn’t help with the anxiety. But like someone said earlier, the anxiety will be through the roof when you get the movements and then maybe have a quiet day! I went in a few times last time when I hadn’t felt much and they were great, so definitely don’t put it off if you’re worried. I was overwhelmed with the responsibility of it last time, only you can feel movements and know if it’s different.

ShiningStarz · 19/04/2022 19:42

@Sweetbabydust1989 ligament pain is totally normal, I have it too, when I cough or try and turn in bed it's worse. Your carrying a lot of extra weight including the placenta so all normal.

Trying a dominoes pizza tonight for dinner as I think it'll make my sugars go up!! Then I'll have to be super careful with the gestational diabetes which I'll prob be diagnosed with soon!!!

20 weeks scan tomorrow, nervous and excited !!

TotoAnnihiliation · 19/04/2022 19:47

On top of the covid misery, I think I have a uti. I'm calling the midwife tomorrow, fingers crossed they can help me.

annlee3817 · 19/04/2022 20:24

@Sweetbabydust1989 are you sleeping with a pillow between your knees? That's always helped with sciatica for me.

@TotoAnnihiliation oh no, my mum was the same after covid, hope you get some antibiotics and feel better soon

madeleine85 · 19/04/2022 20:42

@Sweetbabydust1989 i've had sciatica since very early in pregnancy. I am finding that running makes it worse (annoyingly). But if I do some lower body prenatal yoga online to stretch my hips, and sleep with a pillow under my knees, it is getting much more bearable. Pain is barely there now and i'm at 21 weeks vs a month ago when I was hobbling around.

@TotoAnnihiliation you are not having an easy run of it! I hate utis. You get antibiotics, which in my case 99% of the time give me thrush when they are done. You can't win! Hope you're feeling well soon.

@IzzyLeigh my insurance covers all prenatal care at 100%, so I honestly don't look at what is being charged, hope yours is the same. The only part that matters to me is when the baby comes out as that is when I start paying. The NICU bill the last time for 3 weeks was close to $200k which thank god I paid only $750 of, but getting the initial bills was terrifying. In many ways I like the US healthcare system for preventative medicine, but in others it is so broken. The fact that I can't wait to get out of the hospital just so that I don't have to pay more is insane. I think i'll be genuinely crushed if I have to have a C section just for that reason.

IzzyLeigh · 19/04/2022 21:42

Loving the belly beard positivity! I’ve seen some stats say that over 75% of pregnant women get linea nigra, so I’m surprised to hear that not many of us have it! Or maybe it will just come later? My friend was telling me of this theory today about how it’s from our primal days and was meant to be a guide for the baby to follow from the birth canal to the breast. Whether that’s true or not, I kinda love that.

@Sweetbabydust1989 no sciatica yet but definite round ligament pain when I cough, laugh, or sneeze. It’s pretty brutal feeling. It’s so weird because it feels like something is going wrong each time! No matter how many times I have had it, I still forget and panic for a split second every time!
I'm also getting pretty intense pain in my left knee if If leave it bent too long. Is this pregnancy-related or am I just being weird?

@ShiningStarz good luck on your scan tomorrow!

@TotoAnnihiliation oh nooo you just can’t catch a break you poor thing! Feel better soon!

@madeleine85 mine covers a lot of it, but sadly not all of it. Either way, I suppose it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things since for me it’s just a race to get to the max out-of-pocket every year so that I don’t have to pay anything after that. I always meet it within a few months bc of how expensive my infusion drugs are, so I always know I’ll be paying at LEAST whatever that amount is (usually upwards of $7k) within the first few months of the year every year. Sucks, but at least I know it’s all free after that unless something is denied or out-of-network.
Woof on that NICU bill! Yikes! Medical bills and what the insurance companies do in this country is just criminal. Take a look at your EOB next time you get a big bill and see how much the contractual adjustment is for being in-network. That’s a pretty good indication of how much the hospital has agreed to overcharge if they’re willing to just write it off with the insurance company as long as you’re in-network. It’s insanity. And if you’re unlucky and uninsured, you’re just stuck with it all. It’s so predatory. I obviously have very strong feelings about this—I used to work for a collection agency that handled consumer medical debt mainly, so I've got lots and lots of opinions haha

Jumping on the new thread. This pregnancy has gone from 0 to 100 over the last week.

18+3 (EDD 17th Sept) and I've finally told all friends and family we really wanted to tell in person, colleagues all know and have been incredibly supportive, I've had to get some maternity jeans as my normal ones just don't cut it after 5pm 😂 and I've now got friends giving me a date for a baby shower.

So excited for the 20 week scan now as the gap has draaaagged. Still no sickness or nausea from day dot. And no movement (that I can think of - I get a tummy rumble every now and then but think that's me being peckish). Its almost like I need a little sign it's still cooking away in there!

Carebear99 · 20/04/2022 08:26

@ShiningStarz good luck with the scan today

YouPutTheScrewInTheTuna · 20/04/2022 09:58

Hi everyone, glad to find this thread. We are due 26th September, however will definitely be earlier (hopefully still Sept) as expecting identical twins! Even with 2 of them in there and being my second pregnancy I can't feel too much movement yet at 17w, except for the odd intermittent kick, haven't had any fluttering at all. It has all been a bit stronger than that but it's reassuring to find people a similar time along who are also thinking/feeling the same re movements.

annlee3817 · 20/04/2022 12:55

@YouPutTheScrewInTheTuna welcome and congrats! Think we have one or two on the group with twins :)

Sweetbabydust1989 · 20/04/2022 13:42
