I’ve gone for the ickle bubba double with newborn insert because I have daughter that’s just turned 2 and not ready to walk yet, and the mother care Zuba car seat (dosnt attach) but that’s okay for our lifestyle

She's still being sick, poor little girl. Day at home in front of the tv for dd. Praying I don't get it, but also she just wants cuddles.

amorningperson · 17/05/2022 21:17

@annlee3817 your story about your baby’s scurrying feet really made me laugh! So cute!!

@madeleine85 OMG do not feel bad for not going, I would do the same. What a treat to yourself, being quiet and having time to tie up loose ends before May leave! Sounds perfect!!!

@stimpyyouidiot urrrrgh that sounds so rough. Poor you and poor kid. I’ve heard that norovirus is on the up (it almost went away during cv19) now that kids are back in school and people are being less stringent distancing and hand washing… perhaps it’s that? Hoping you don’t get it!!!

move had a bump since 10 weeks I feel, it just popped out and kept growing. Sadly my bum has done the same 😂

So cool to hear what everyone is buying. It’s a balance between getting everything ready right now and then it just sitting around vs rushing at the end. My DC was 2 weeks late however and I sat twiddling my thumbs maddeningly so I’m keen to wait until at least 35 ish weeks to start Really prepping .

stimpyyouidiot · 17/05/2022 21:22

It's been a rough day! Dd just gone off to sleep. I've done so many loads of washing. So tired. I haven't eaten properly as I felt cruel eating in front of her as she was so ill but hungry. Going to let the dog out in a bit and go to sleep myself. Praying she is over it now. She hasn't been sick since early afternoon.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 17/05/2022 21:28

Anyone else struggling with baby clothes?? My boys were spring/summer babies have no idea wether to buy any pram suits or coats etc I have ordered sleep suits and vests only as my 2 lived in those for a while but no idea on this one please tell me this all comes back 😂🙈 xx

madeleine85 · 17/05/2022 21:57

Thanks @annlee3817 and @amorningperson :)

I did all my baby prep last time at 31 weeks in a panic after preterm labour round 1, but then she came at 35 weeks, and was in the NICU and I had all this time with absolutely nothing to do at home as it was all done, and I could have used a distraction. I think this time around i'll get a bag ready at around 32 weeks for me only, just in case. Generally if the baby comes before 36-37 weeks, they aren't coming straight home with us, so there isn't much point prepping the baby bag until near that time. We are being very baby minimalist with stuff until we move next March, so I think all I have left to get are some new nipples for bottles, and a bottle warmer. Our in laws kindly gave us their hand me downs for their boy who is 9 months older, and I think the only onesies I am buying are the bonds wondersuits due to the folding feet and hand mittens (read from this no need for socks, they are truly amazing). I do plan for the little one to live in sleep suits for the first 6 months, it just makes everything so much easier in my experience!

madeleine85 · 17/05/2022 22:03

Although i do need to buy a dog stair type thing for the car boot as he is going to be moved to travelling there once we have 2 car seats in the back of our car. Poor neurotic pup is going to be beside himself at losing his usual spot on the floor of the back seat. He is a 75lb lab mix so not small, and I doubt he will willingly jump into the car boot though he is a very nervous (good) boy.

annlee3817 · 18/05/2022 04:22

Similar to you @madeleine85 we're trying to be minimalist as moving this summer, all being well, so just getting what we definitely need.

So after saying DD didn't have a sickness bug as was only sick once due to coughing, was fine all day yesterday, we're now awake with a vomiting six year old :( not the best week after the bleeding yesterday, could do with a few days off!

madeleine85 · 18/05/2022 05:07

@annlee3817 no not another victim to the norovirus! Hope it’s short lived.

the last 3 nights I swear I’ve had Braxton Hicks contractions, but actually quite painful. I don’t remember them at all from my last pregnancy. Are there any posters on their second or more time noticing this starting too? It feels like bad period cramps, but I definitely feel them and have to breathe a bit. I’m reading the second or more times of being pregnant they can get a bit sore. my belly feels hard so I think that’s a sign it’s BH. Also my exhaustion/nausea from chocolate has migrated to ice cream, so that may also be part of the stomach cramps 🤦‍♀️.

annlee3817 · 18/05/2022 05:17

@madeleine85 just sick, so not norovirus thankfully.

Might be worth mentioning that to your doctor, as Braxton Hicks shouldn't be painful, I've been getting them but painless tightenings

stimpyyouidiot · 18/05/2022 07:24

@annlee3817 aw man I'm so sorry! Sickness bugs are the worst. Think dd is through the worst now.

annlee3817 · 18/05/2022 07:25

@stimpyyouidiot glad she's on the mend! Take it you haven't succumbed yet?

amorningperson · 18/05/2022 07:41

@Sweetbabydust1989 my DC was a summer babe too- I asked this on mumsnet if you search it on the parenting forum it will come up with lots of mums giving great advice!

amorningperson · 18/05/2022 08:00

@madeleine85 im having the same struggle with our old dog. She’s very rickety now and has a large bed on the back passenger seat behind the driver’s seat and she loves it. I feel bad too to relegate her to the back cause she is also neurotic and whines when she’s in the back and she’s too old to adapt. Comparatively she curls up happy as Larry on her bed when she’s in the back seat. Dilemma!!! I’ve though of different options including the foot well under my DC, or the front seat with a safety harness on :/ I’ve had a few period style cramps but mainly the BH I get are like being a bit winded. I actually thought they were the beginning of a panic attack before I realised!

how is your move plan going? We are also moving by we are still unawar when. We put an offer with a long date on entry last summer and the owners have been weird and flakey throughout and finally pulled out just after Christmas. So we are looking for another place in Glasgow and I think I’ve said so- it’s absolutely madness here win terms of housing. People paying £100 000 over asking prices for a tiny flat. It’s a bit depressing. I secretly want to buy a fixer upper and fix it up slowly… I can’t stand the thought of over paying for a tiny flat. Thankfully our small flat also went for a max price so we have something in the bank but it will only go into over paying for something else 😂

stimpyyouidiot · 18/05/2022 09:15

@annlee3817 thought she was on the mend but then she threw up her toast! Over 24 hours now the poor thing. I haven't yet, no, but there's still time :(

Redapple21 · 18/05/2022 10:07

Sorry to hear about all the bugs, hope everyone is ok!
Needing a wee has really ramped up this week (23 weeks). I'm needing the toilet a lot more often but when I get there it's only a little wee!! Anyone else?

GlitteryGreen · 18/05/2022 10:14

Wow! I'm coming back and catching up after a week away....feel like I'm so behind!

I am 23 weeks 2 days now and still not really feeling much (anterior placenta), just the odd flutters low down here and there. Not regular and days where I'm busy I don't seem to feel much at all :-/ Definitely can't feel anything from the outside yet.

All this talk of prams etc!! 🙈 I haven't even thought about buying any of that yet, maybe I need to get started. All I have bought is some tiny trousers and a tiny tracksuit in the Primark sale, and even that was only because my sister has started buying loads.

I am sooo confused by which pram is best. We are in a one-bed, 2nd floor flat so pram will be living in the boot of my car mostly, so a compact fold is one of the priorities for me. Briefly looked at the BabyZen Yoyo but seems like it doesn't last for long if your toddler is taller (DP is tall and I was a tall baby, although not a tall adult!). Been thinking of the Maxi Cosi Zelia as the seat changes from carrycot to normal without having to get something separate.

Also don't know whether to get a cot straight away, or just get the moses basket/next to me and then get a cot nearer the time. It would be nice to get it so we could set up the baby's corner in the bedroom, but equally it's a spend that can wait I guess??

Arghhh

Redapple21 · 18/05/2022 10:26

Hi @GlitteryGreen yes lots to think about!! My DP has also suggested we don't need the cot just yet but I think I would rather get the little nursery set up before baby comes, as once it's here you probably won't have time and also my Mat pay isn't great so thinking I'd rather just get it done now. It's hard though yes with so much to buy! We have ordered a Bugaboo Fox from a shop who does refurbished prams, but won't pick it up until the beginning of August probably. I think as long as you have the essentials, all the rest can follow in time. I keep trawling FB marketplace for bargains but a lot of the stuff we won't need for a while, so im going to hold off now.

ALYGirl · 18/05/2022 11:09

Hope everyone is ok. Just had my 25 week midwife appointment and it was so quick. Just a urine sample, blood pressure, listen to the heartbeat and then out. Got another appointment in 3 weeks for my GTT test and anti-D injection. I'm pleased everything was good today, it is such a relief to hear the heartbeat as I don't feel much movement from my anterior placenta.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 18/05/2022 11:20

So who has been buying?? I am still so worried to shop xx

annlee3817 · 18/05/2022 12:28

@Sweetbabydust1989 we've bought the main bits apart from the buggy, we'll hopefully be moving in August, so don't want to be thinking about shopping when we need to unpack etc, although moving will be interesting I feel, that's if the house goes through

Sweetbabydust1989 · 18/05/2022 12:51

@annlee3817 so bit the bullet and just ordered a swing, playmat and change bag feeling ok still anxious x

Butterflytulip · 18/05/2022 16:14

Great news @ALYGirl I am sure you are relieved.
I have gestational diabetes again, expected it but because last time it was in lockdown it wasn't picked up after 30 weeks. Now at 24 weeks I'll have to start eating sensibly!! No treats for me! Lovely to have a 25 check. Not sure all areas offer the same reassurance checks. My next appt is at 26 weeks but that's cause they monitor growth closely with the diabetes.

madeleine85 · 18/05/2022 17:05

@annlee3817 thanks for the advice, I have an appointment next Thursday so i'll definitely bring it up. I was up from 3-5am last night with really bad lower back and stomach type cramps to the point I kept going to pee and expecting blood, but there wasn't any. Cramps have subsided now, and lower back is still sore today (dull pain), but not the coming and going contraction type pain, so guessing it has stopped. Every damn time I get ahead of myself and start talking about evicting this child at 37 weeks I get a day of this, so I should just stop! I hate that it could be anything. It could be round ligament pain from stretching, it could be cramps from ice cream which I shouldn't have eaten (bad with dairy), it could be BH or real labour. I'll just try rest, drink water and stay away from dairy to see if this stops completely.

@amorningperson you are in Glasgow? I was born there (rasied further north though) and studied/lived there for 8 years before going to the US. I really miss it, loved park days at Kelvingrove in the summer back in the day! Interesting to hear the housing market is so crazy there too. Here it is beginning to slow down (finally). Though there isn't much on the market as people are beginning to not want to sell, knowing the values aren't quite as good as 3-6 months ago. What is there now is overpriced and needs a lot of work done too. The area we want to be in for school districts is just insanely expensive, so I think we've resigned ourselves to renting in that area, or nearby for a year starting next March before seriously looking at buying, and crossing everything that prices do really drop if interest rates keep going up. We have a good chunk of cash for a deposit, but we just can't bring ourselves to buy at what feels like a real market peak if that makes sense. Hope that the UK is similar and things go back down for you too, especially if you have already sold your place at a high point!

annlee3817 · 18/05/2022 17:11

@madeleine85 it's not easy is it, the littlest thing can take my positive back to a negative, was freaked out that they couldn't find my cervix yesterday as really wanted them to confirm it was still closed after the bleeding. Midwife said today that the fact that they couldn't find it would mean it's high and closed, which made me feel better, but like you I worry because of my previous pregnancy. Hope the pains ease off for you
