Hi everyone
I'm just catching up with the thread. I've been having terrible back pain, low down on the left hand side. I've had this before, many years ago and I found heat patches helped but I can't use those now I'm pregnant.
How is everyone else doing? Lovely everyone mostly had their scans now and everything OK

Rbts1 · 05/05/2022 12:39

Hi all!! New to this thread. I’m due end of September, currently 19w!
Started with braxton hicks (I think!!) this week. This is my first pregnancy so I was shocked they can start so early, I didn’t have a clue! Getting regular flutters now throughout the day which is lovely. They’re very low down and baby was breach at a private scan couple of weeks ago so I suspect still is!
how is everyone? X

Butterflytulip · 05/05/2022 20:33

Hi everyone,
Welcome @Rbts1 and congrats!!
I had my re check of the 20 week scan this week and all was fine. Relieved now and can finally feel I can enjoy the pregnancy.
Can't remember who has their scan tomorrow but good luck for it and enjoy 🥰
It's lovely feeling movements. I still have diabetes check again in 6 weeks and some other bloods to check iron but all manageable 👍

LaddieCthulu · 05/05/2022 21:42

I can't believe how much movement there is ... I have been able to feel it for weeks and my partner could see and feel some of them at 20 weeks too.... Earlier today baby was having a good wriggle right over on one side and it was actually ticklish to me. I cannot imagine what it will be like as time goes on!

GlitteryGreen · 06/05/2022 09:59

@Carebear99 I think you can use heat patches as long as they're not directly 'on' the baby? So I think lower back would be fine. I'd use one :)

@LaddieCthulu I am quite depressed about the whole movement thing! I have anterior placenta (which I only discovered from my scan report, wasn't mentioned to me) so I can barely feel anything at all. If I do it's very low down, just by my knicker line. I am hoping it will increase as the baby gets stronger but I'm a bit sad I can't feel it like everyone else :(

ALYGirl · 06/05/2022 10:13

Hi everyone,

I am new to the thread. Currently 23+1 and due September 1st with my first baby (baby boy). I have been told I have an anterior placenta so movements could take longer to feel, but I am still so anxious that I have only felt a handful of 'butterfly' movements in the last week or so. I am a naturally anxious person and unless I am physically being scanned or hearing the heartbeat with the midwife I feel so worried that something is wrong with baby.

Does anyone else have an anterior placenta and is still not feeling much movement?

Glad I found this thread and I look forward to the rest of this journey with you all. xxx

GlitteryGreen · 06/05/2022 10:28

Loool @ALYGirl , snap!! We may have cross posted.

I am exactly the same, anterior placenta and can barely feel anything. If I do, it's really low down and just small flutters, but nothing else at all.

Butterflytulip · 06/05/2022 11:27

@ALYGirl congrats! I'm due around the same time (c section planned a week before due date). I also have an anterior placenta.
I find that when I rub or tap my belly I feel little movements, or eat drink something sweet and lie on the left side. I usually feel something when lying on the bed very still and in the quiet and rub my tummy.
Such an anxious time but all is fine, baby is happily snug under the placenta

SoOverThisCrap · 06/05/2022 12:37

I've got my 20 week scan this afternoon and I'm starting to feel really anxious 😕 it doesn't help
that I've been awake since 3am with a splitting headache 🤦‍♀️

LittlemissMama67 · 06/05/2022 12:48

I’m 20 weeks today! So excited after a rocky start to this pregnancy never really thought we’d get here 🤭😍

felt her move from the outside for the first time last night which was super nice.

really enjoying gathering all her little bits and prepare for her arrival. This is my last baby so I’m really loving doing everything just right because I know I’ll never get the chance again. 💖

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 06/05/2022 12:54

@GlitteryGreen I have an anterior placenta that is blocking the exit. I have only been feeling movements for a week, from when I was 19+4. I literally went from zero to feeling frequent movement. I hope this will be the same for you. How far along are you?

GlitteryGreen · 06/05/2022 13:24

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher Sadly not, I am 22 weeks on Monday!

I'd say I've been feeling movements from about 17/18 weeks but they've always been the same, just a little bit of wriggling/pressure really low down - I guess when the baby's feet are down there?

I've read that with anterior placenta you only tend to feel it around the sides or down the bottom below the placenta so I guess that's why. Stressful though, I don't know how I'd ever be able to monitor movements if it stays this way.

I had an anterior placenta with my first baby too. Yes, all the movement was felt round the edge, although, I could see movement happening in the middle. My first was a breech baby, the strangest movement I felt was when her head was in my ribs and she moved her head from side to side!

I've got everything crossed that you start to feel movement soon.

I've got a rare child free day, my DD is going for a sleep over at my parents in preparation for when they baby comes. She thinks it's the best thing that has ever happened to her!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:32

@LittlemissMama67 this is my last one too so actually enjoying it so much despite the anxiety and sickness 😂 this one is definitely a calmer baby like my first one unfortunately my second one was like a feral cat inside bashing around at all times of the day and night xx

Goodgoodthings · 06/05/2022 13:32

@GlitteryGreen know how stressful it can be not feeling anything, I'm 20 weeks today and just about feeling very slight flutters.

I also had anterior placenta with my first though, and I will say that when the movements started they were so noticeable, almost out of nowhere! Big belly moving kicks and rolls that kept me up some nights! Always really cherished that after fretting for such a long time. Fingers crossed you will experience the same very soon ♥️

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:34

So come on who is next in line for the 20 week scan?? Mine is in 4 days time I will be 21 weeks 1 day so they should get a really good look if baby actually moves cannot handle them tummy shaking me again to get baby to move 🙈 feels like it's taken forever to come round xx

kitkat2022 · 06/05/2022 13:35

Friday Funny: Found some great pregnancy cartoons and thought I'd share them here. So relatable 😂

Goodgoodthings · 06/05/2022 13:35

@Sweetbabydust1989 literally waiting in the hospital for mine as we speak! Fingers crossed all okay. Felt like such a wait these past few weeks! Sure there are a few others today too?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:36

@GlitteryGreen have they told you which side your placenta is on mine anterior and the lady said it's at the front on the right side so when baby gives me the odd good whack it's usually felt more on my left side xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:38

@Goodgoodthings I am so jelly!!! I really hope all is well lovely this scan is definitely hard to wait for I have been taking my mind off things a bit but I no I will be leg shaking in that waiting room on Tuesday xx

kitkat2022 · 06/05/2022 13:40

@Sweetbabydust1989, I had mine on Wednesday and they made me jump and down for a few minutes to get baby to move! 🙈 He actually did and they got everything they needed in the end. All the best for your scan.

GlitteryGreen · 06/05/2022 13:43

Thanks @TurquoiseDreamCatcher, I'm sure I'll catch up eventually, just would be good to know what it's up to in there!

@Goodgoodthings Yeah I think maybe I'll just have to wait a bit longer, I'm sure when the baby is bigger I will feel much more, even if not exactly the same as people without anterior.

@Sweetbabydust1989 No tbh the sonographer actually didn't even really mention it at all beyond saying it was at the front, and then I just saw on my notes afterwards that it said it was anterior. No idea if it's further to one side or not Confused. She didn't mention anything about struggling to feel movement or anything either, I only know that from on here!

20viona · 06/05/2022 13:43

@LittlemissMama67 that's so weird I'm
Also 20 weeks today and felt movement from the outside for the first time last night!
Got my scan on wed can't wait to find out the sex. I have a nearly 3year old
Daughter who's very excited.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:44

@kitkat2022 it's bloody horrible isn't it when baby wont play ball I have a diva in the making far too relaxed in there. I just drink a sugary drink before I go in that usually does the trick but makes me gag as this is my only pregnancy that I can't eat junk makes my reflux worse my boys I was the size of a house 😂 I am glad all went well for you lovely xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/05/2022 13:50

@GlitteryGreen out of 3 of my pregnancies I have had 2 anterior placentas and I felt more movement after say 22 weeks but this one I can feel the odd movement but nothing like my first the placenta for him was at the back.. They never say much do they I was quite lucky as I said to the lady my placenta is on the front and then she said yeah it's on right definitely explains a lot to why I can feel jabs on my left side would love to no if baby came out of my right tube I had 2 ectopics in that one xx
