@Sweetbabydust1989 it's so annoying isn't it! Feels like a cramp pain all down my leg and definitely makes me hobble! Baby must be pressing on a particular nerve.

Hi ladies ... the last couple of weeks I have started to get a pain/cramp in my right buttocks that goes all down the back of my leg. It's only now and again but it's quite uncomfortable. I think it's sciatica, but I've never suffered with it before. Has anyone else had this and any tips to ease it?

Have you got a heat pack thing, with the beads in? That might help x

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/05/2022 09:06

@Butterflytulip I got a nice pair yesterday from H&M need to try them on but couldn't be arsed after shopping lol once summer is here I can just wear dresses. I lived in leggings with my boys I didn't wear anything else xx

stimpyyouidiot · 02/05/2022 09:07

Starting to feel really really ugly :( I am huge, my stretch marks from dd look like they're getting bigger.

None of this bloody glow. I mean obviously it would have helped if I wasn't so big in the first place.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/05/2022 09:09

@Redapple21 I work in retail as a bit of pocket money for me and to get out the house and when it happens at work it's bloody awful I cannot move I had spd with my second baby and had a support belt for the rest of my pregnancy hoping I don't need it this time round. Also how do you sleep?? I always sleep on my left side so occasionally have to mix that up and sleep on my right side which feels old but gets the blood pumping around my left I also have a maternity pillow thing which is amazing xx

Redapple21 · 02/05/2022 09:11

@Sweetbabydust1989 luckily it hasn't happened to me much yet in work, I'm a teacher so would struggle if it kicked off! Im the same, usually sleep on my left so have had to try and mix it up, I haven't slept great the last few nights! Yes I have my maternity pillow too but sometimes it's still quite uncomfortable.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/05/2022 09:11

@stimpyyouidiot I never had that glow with any of mine I just looked like a bag of crap with my pregnancies worse this time round as I was blessed with acne and greasy dry hair I look like a spotty teenager and my hair feels like a Brillo pad 🙈 xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/05/2022 09:13

@Redapple21 oh no bless you lovely!!! If you find the maternity pillow uncomfortable just shove a normal pillow between your legs that's what I tend to do as my maternity one can be a little bulky sometimes and gives me the ump as I am only 5ft 1 xx

Redapple21 · 02/05/2022 09:14

@Sweetbabydust1989 awww same I'm only 5ft1 too, maybe this is more common in us shorter ones ha ha. Ok thank you I'll try that tonight x

Oh don't say this!! Not that I know what you look like, but I know you can't possibly be ugly. You are growing a new human. Sending you a hug!

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 02/05/2022 10:01

@Redapple21 definitely sounds like sciatica. Bloody horrible it if. I would definitely try soothe it with a heat pack/ hot water bottle.

I get some pain in my hips, I think that's down to me being a bit chubby and carrying this baby bump.

I think my womb has moved position as I'm feeling quite a bit more movement now, which is such a relief. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and have my scan tomorrow. I'm so excited!

My poor DD who is 4 is poorly today. So we shall be snuggling under a blanket together.

Celyn22 · 02/05/2022 11:42

@RedApple21 sorry you are experiencing sciatica! A couple of friends of mine suffer with it quite badly and they said ingesting sulphur really really helps! So black salt/namak salt (which is cheapest from Asian stores) is really good. It takes a big eggy so I tend to put it on salads or in curry which is how it's traditionally used. Also taking MSM which I do usually anyway for joints and inflammation. 1-3g daily is recommended amount. 3g is one teaspoon.

I hope this helps!

annlee3817 · 02/05/2022 12:32

@Redapple21 putting a tennis ball or something similar under you and moving around on it so it digs into the bottom can help massaged the area and ease the nerve. Pillow between the knees, if it carries on Physio, I've had it on an off since my early twenties, radiates down to the ankle when it's bad. Also when sitting make sure you're properly supported, avoid slouching, and get up slowly so you don't throw it into a spasm

stimpyyouidiot · 02/05/2022 13:40

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher just having a really moody few days, tired, huge heartburn that makes me feel sick. Caught sight of myself in a mirror and was just disappointed in what I saw haha. Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful to be pregnant but I'd much rather be one of these beautiful people who look incredible just with a belly. I have swelled up all over!

I hear you.

I see pictures of celebrities with their nice nest bumps and I've look like I've been pumped up with an air pump all over. I never really lost the baby weight after having DD, I know I need to do something about this time round. I'm hoping breastfeeding will help!

How is everyone's bank holiday Monday? I finally got to the bottom of my washing basket. Now frantically trying to dry things without using the tumble dryer.

stimpyyouidiot · 02/05/2022 15:18

We've had a lovely day today, out for breakfast and a walk round the broads, I was exhausted so just had to have a nap! Now really looking forward to some dinner :)

Redapple21 · 02/05/2022 17:02

Ahhh thanks everyone I will try your suggestions!! @TurquoiseDreamCatcher @Celyn22 @annlee3817

madeleine85 · 02/05/2022 17:51

@Redapple21 plenty of good suggestions above. I'd second the using a regular pillow. If on my side I use it between my knees, if on my back, under my knees. It has made a world of difference to my sciatica. I try to do some maternity lower body focused yoga when it really flares up. My doctor had twins and mentioned that a good physio/chiropractor can really help as it is usually caused by fluid retention causing a pocket at the bottom of your spine and putting pressure on the sciatic nerve.

@stimpyyouidiot sorry you're feeling rubbish, we all have good and bad days during pregnancy. Some feeling ok, some like a beached whale at the moment. Just know you are not alone, and you are more than half way!!! I keep telling myself that every day further through this I go, and that the little bean becomes more viable is a day closer to never ever having to be pregnant again. That definitely helps. Plus a lot of water and sleep. 14-17 weeks and I'll be falling asleep half way through my first glass of wine (assuming a 37-40 week gestation) :). It is amazing how quickly the side effects go after the little one comes out, or at least mine did the last time.

stimpyyouidiot · 02/05/2022 20:39

@madeleine85 thank you xx just feeling so crap. And my h said today 'I thought you'd be the happiest pregnant woman ever because you wanted another one so badly!' I said yeah I am but it doesn't stop me feeling like crap 🤦🏻‍♀️

Billymay · 02/05/2022 20:59

Hi girls. Happy bank holiday Monday! I’m having my scan on Friday… really anxious as my 2nd dds 20 week scan didn’t go well so I can already feel the anxiety building up. Let’s hope this week goes quick! Hopefully if all goes ok I’ll be able to refer to baby as he or she when we find out the gender… pretty sure it’s another girl and I’ve even dreamt twice it was. Hope everyone is ok? I’ll read through this thread when my eldest is at school, husband at work and my little girl down for a nap. Xxx

Redapple21 · 02/05/2022 21:06

Ah thank you @madeleine85 if it gets any worse I will maybe go and see a physio to see if they can help. In the meantime I will definitely try all of the other suggestions. I'm 21 weeks today and all of a sudden the last few days I feel like my bump has had a growth spurt and started to feel more uncomfortable in the evenings after my evening meal. I think I need to start eating smaller portions more frequently maybe. Also feeling a bit emotional. I did put a deposit on the pram today thought which was very exciting :-) this is the first week where I've felt very 'pregnant' since the initial sickness etc, and it's definitely making me a bit weepy! So glad we have this thread.

HHomebird · 03/05/2022 00:40

My 20 week scan is on Wednesday, I'll be 20+4 and really hoping to see them wiggling away. I've been so nervous with such a big gap between scans, and still half in disbelief there's someone still growing away in there. Still in my regular jeans and work clothes, although they're definitely a bit tighter after 4pm and the bloat kicks in. I do feel a little rounder all over though.

DH accidentally smashed the bathroom scales last week with the hoover, so I haven't been keeping an eye on weight gain...but maybe that's a good thing 😂

Redapple21 · 03/05/2022 06:26

@Sweetbabydust1989 @madeleine85 I tried a normal pillow between my legs last night and had a much more comfortable night. Thank you both so much for the tip. xx

Butterflytulip · 03/05/2022 07:39

I tried the big huge pregnancy pillow last night as I remember it being so lovely the last time! It was just irritating and I kept waking! So out it went in the middle of the night and I slept a dream without it! It's defo too early for me to have it!!
Hope everyone is keeping ok and managing ok with all the different aches and pains.
Good luck for scans today.
I have one tomorrow 😊

Butterflytulip · 03/05/2022 08:02

Has anyone bought maternity denim dungarees yet?? I have been looking at Uk sites like gap, river island, jo jo. Lots of places seem to do then, I just can't decide what to order! Would love to be to go in shops and try them on but it's all online!!
I feel like an absolute balloon, I'm just not thinking twice about what I eat at all!! It's awful. Went for a swim yesterday, was harder than it was pre pregnancy!!
Should probably start weighing myself... how's the fitness group going?? If going well I might join !!
