So glad it went well @GlitteryGreen !

SoOverThisCrap · 27/04/2022 16:53

@GlitteryGreen I'm glad your scan went well 😊

Carebear99 · 27/04/2022 16:57

Hi everyone, had my 20 week scan which went OK. Baby was face down then managed to turn around after I went and emptied my bladder and did some star jumps. I got the usual line in my notes saying about my higher bmi affecting the scan.... it says they discussed this with me which they didn't. Never mind, all was well

SoOverThisCrap · 27/04/2022 16:58

@Carebear99 I'm glad your scan went well, you must be relieved to know that everything is progressing well?

Carebear99 · 27/04/2022 17:15

@SoOverThisCrap thank you. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! I'm so happy all was OK

Redapple21 · 27/04/2022 17:17

@Carebear99 great news, so glad the scan was all good x

@SoOverThisCrap thank you. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! I'm so happy all was OK

That's great news 😊

GlitteryGreen · 27/04/2022 17:32

@Carebear99 I have that line in my notes about the BMI too!! It's the exact same sentence as the one at 12 weeks so I'm guessing it's just an auto thing that goes in based on our recorded weights at booking. They never mentioned it to me and had no issues getting the images.

Carebear99 · 27/04/2022 17:48

@Redapple21 thank you

@GlitteryGreen great news on your scan too. I never had that sentence on my 12w scan but same, no issues with scan quality other than the baby not playing ball at first.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 27/04/2022 18:56

@Carebear99 and @GlitteryGreen I had a comment along the lines of "maternal habitual made scan unclear." Code wording for difficult to scan through whale blubber.

After nearly 5 months of not being able to face food, I now have a craving for carbs. I want tiger loaf bread and all of the pasta. I'm working on getting DH to take me out at the weekend to some of pasta restaurant.

My uti is pretty horrific still, I've purchased some tenor lady as every time I cough, I leak. I've never felt more attractive. I paid a small fortune today at a private ear clinic to have the wax micro suctioned out my ears, that's helped a bit. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Carebear99 · 27/04/2022 19:01

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher oh you poor thing, I hope you feel better soon.

HaresHoping · 27/04/2022 19:46

Oh &@TurquoiseDreamCatcher I'm sending you so many hugs, you poor thing. I think after all of this you deserve the easiest birth ever!

@stimpyyouidiot I think that's an excellent idea 😂

Congratulations @GlitteryGreen and @Carebear99 on your scans - fantastic news! 🥳

Butterflytulip · 27/04/2022 20:14

@Carebear99 & @GlitteryGreen fantastic news about your scans 🥰 it's a huge weight lifted when the 20 weeks scan is done. In a few weeks time we'll all be done 🤞

stimpyyouidiot · 27/04/2022 20:24

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher I made the most delicious garlic and Parmesan pasta tonight and now I absolutely stink. Worth it.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 27/04/2022 20:55

Thank you @Carebear99 and @HaresHoping.

@stimpyyouidiot can I come for tea at your house?

annlee3817 · 27/04/2022 21:15

So pleased your scans went well @GlitteryGreen and @Carebear99 :)

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher glad you're ears at least are feeling better!

My potential maternity covers have fallen through, one has moved to another role in the company and the other handed her notice in today 😬 at the moment I am the only one who can do my job, so we are on a mission to get someone in

stimpyyouidiot · 27/04/2022 21:43

You are more than welcome @TurquoiseDreamCatcher 🤣 there's lots left

YouPutTheScrewInTheTuna · 28/04/2022 06:35

Great news about all the scans so far! Have got a measurement scan Friday, then the 20 week scan 12th May. A bit unusual scan plans due to the identical twins as have to go every 2 weeks to check everything is OK. But also a very different (and super serious!) Experience as all with a specialist consultant rather than a sonographer. Nice to see then regularly for the reassurance, esp after last pregnancy. Also get the "high BMI" line in mine, but let's just say the consultant is not so tactile about it!

Belle2210 · 28/04/2022 08:26

Glad folks scans have all gone well! 😊 Had my second scan yesterday and STILL didn't get a proper view of the heart so back in again next week to be scanned by a doctor so they can go by what they can see to sign off whether they feel everything is fine. Nothing has been seen that causes any concern just Bean not getting into the correct position to see properly.... Scan round 3 it is 🙈.

Don't think people should be taking mention of BMI personally tbh. It's something that carries risk so has to be noted down.

Started pregnancy yoga on Monday and although being upside down at some points I thought I was gonna lose my reflux all over the place, it has helped with Pelvic pain 🙌.

Belle2210 · 28/04/2022 08:27

Oh and another anterior placenta here! Feel quite a bit of movement in the inside but haven't felt anything obvious from the outside as yet 🤔.

Carebear99 · 28/04/2022 09:22

@Belle2210 I have no issue with them mentioning bmi but it says they discussed the scan limitations with me which they didn't. There were no issues with the scan. I'm sure the scan wouldn't mention other health conditions, the reasons I'm overweight are my own but I have my struggles having been both under and now over weight

Belle2210 · 28/04/2022 09:39

@carebear99 if it says they discussed it with you and didn't then it would be worth asking about it if its worrying you. It is maybe standard to have that noted but wasn't actually discussed because there was no issue at the time if that makes sense?

I just meant that it would be mentioned as standard in the notes if it could cause issues with the scan.

petitlapin1 · 28/04/2022 11:55

Rant alert!
Just had my consultant appointment and it was literally 3 minutes! She started with "so this is your second pregnancy" Erm no, it's my 5th- 3 were losses which explains why I'm anxious and why my BP, HR and resp rate are high, if you'd looked at the obs your nurses have just done! But she didn't ask about mental health, just told me I need to be on fragmin from 28 weeks and here's a prescription. Stop if you bleed or go into labour. Nothing about why I need it, what the benefits are, what the risks of not taking it are. Nor that's it's an injection, so I couldn't tell her about my needle phobia. 18 weeks of injections? No way José, not a chance.
Argh!
(Rant over. Sorry, just needed to get my frustration out in a safe space. Will discuss it with my midwife in a few weeks.)

Good news on the scan @GlitteryGreen.
Hope everyone's having a better day, that you're feeling better @TurquoiseDreamCatcher , and that you're getting more movements @Em85kk

annlee3817 · 28/04/2022 12:13

Ah sorry @petitlapin1 , have you got a follow up? Or could you call your midwife and explain the above and see if she can get you in with a different consultant?

Belle2210 · 28/04/2022 12:58

@petitlapin1 that's shocking! Especially for someone who is already dealing with anxiety not to explain things thoroughly and have a chance to answer questions. Hope you get a better explanation and actual discussion with someone else.
