@YummyMummyXoX my braxton hicks have become very strong and my cervix is so painful it feel like I'm having a smear test done I think they may tell me tomorrow my cervix is dilating. X

Morning everyone. Been awake since 5am as the baby decided to have a dance and then quickly developed hiccups. So uncomfortable 😩

Thank you for hospital bag lists as well! I'm now having a small panic that I'm completely unprepared. I have a couple of nursing vests packed, and pjs etc. I still don't have a nursing bra - my bra size hasn't changed and I don't want to buy a bra in my current size, and then for my milk to come in and for it to no longer fit. I'm planning on relying vest tops with built in support - but again, wondering if this is the best plan 🤦🏼‍♀️

YummyMummyXoX · 19/04/2022 08:11

@Kittycaz @Kittycaz
Oh wow
I've had some this morning, cramping and very bloaty
On a morning I feel quite rubbishy now. I bet some of you ladies go to your midwife apps and have dilated a little eeek!
I'm not seeing community one again now haven't since 28 weeks. Been doctors or specialist midwives, they won't sweep me or interfere as I must not go into spontaneous labour until after my treatment if baby girl will listen 😂 Please keep me posted on how things go with you! 💕💐

Luckygreenduck · 19/04/2022 10:19

Morning everyone, havnt updated for awhile as it's been a stressful few weeks. Baby arrived at 33 weeks after a really trumatic time. I won't go into details but we both survived and are recovering well.
My beautiful boy is still in neonatal care at 10 days old and I am home which is heartbreaking. Spending a few hours a day with him is magically though. I am so impressed that I made him inside of me!
My main mum task while he is in hospital is expressing milk. Tied to a expressing machine every 3 hours! I was really struggling to hand express the colostrum at first but as soon as I went on the pump I have had loads. So if anyone is worrying about not getting a lot of colostrum I wouldn't say it directly links to milk production.
My top tip is take lots of bump photos in these last few weeks, none of us know which one will be our last!

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/04/2022 11:33

@Luckygreenduck congratulations sorry you've had a traumatic time :-( I hope your little one will be home with you soon x

JMill13 · 19/04/2022 12:54

Ah congratulations. Sorry it was so traumatic. Hopefully you get your boy home with you soon 💙

Kittycaz · 19/04/2022 12:55

@Luckygreenduck congratulations am so happy to hear your both fine and healthy Flowers

@Luckygreenduck congratulations on your baby glad you are both doing well hope he is soon back home thinking of you.

I got randomly called to come into triage today from bloods I had on Thursday my liver tests are 'deranged'. I've had to stop GD meds and the consultants want to make a new plan today so she may be here even earlier. I just hope I can continue to keep her safe now until delivery whenever that is x

GinnyBee · 19/04/2022 17:09

@Luckygreenduck Sorry to hear about your traumatic experience, and congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby boy! Glad you're recovering well.

Zibidee · 19/04/2022 17:33

I've kept an eye on this thread for months but now feel it's getting very close so thought I should join in! Due 16th May and have GD which has caused me high anxiety for the last 8weeks since diagnosis, on top of IVF anxiety early on.
Had a consultant appointment today and had been feeling more confident since my last, really helpful midwife appointment and a very positive growth scan last week, but now I feel anxious again, consultant just couldn't answer my questions around her recommendations for induction other than saying "you have GD". Felt very impersonal and unhelpful. She couldn't even answer my question about whether I could use decongestant nasal spray for rhinitis which has gradually got worse over the pregnancy. She was googling it on her phone!
Now I feel like I can't do this and don't know how I'm gonna get through labour and the tears have started again, haven't been tearful for a few weeks. Any positive, kind vibes would be appreciated!

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/04/2022 17:34

Are people feeling movements all day? Sometimes I haven't felt baby move for hours and then I feel the tiniest movement or hiccups then nothing for ages. Other days I can feel a larger "roll" or what I imagine it to be. I had a few days a couple of weeks ago where she was very active and could see her moving from the outside but not been like this for a couple of weeks. Sorry long rambly post just not sure what is normal as my daughter was much more active.

YfenniChristie · 19/04/2022 17:50

@Luckygreenduck Congratulations on the arrival of your little. I am so sorry to hear you've had a tough time of it. I hope your little one will be home with you soon!

@YummyMummyXoX Hope everything went well at triage. Do you have a new plan now?

Hey @Zibidee welcome to the thread! Do you have another consultant appointment coming up and will it be with the same one? I have moments of panic every so often when it occurs me that in going to have to get this baby out (someway or another). We can do this, and we'll get through it.

@Bubbasmama2017 I'm definitely noticing movements more throughout the day. I don't know if it's because I'm working from home now and generally taking things easier so I'm noticing them more or if it's just them? Very uncomfortable today - lots of movements pushing downwards and outwards. 😩

Zibidee · 19/04/2022 18:00

@yfennichristie I'll have another appointment in two weeks at wk 38 but I haven't seen the same person twice throughout all the IVF treatment or pregnancy at Kings so highly doubt it'll be the same.
I just didn't trust her, she clearly hadn't read my birth plan and didn't seem to have time to discuss it and every question was just met with "we don't know, we'll have to wait and see". I know that's what labour is like but she could've said something more reassuring!

Anyone with GD at this point too?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/04/2022 18:06

Hi @Zibidee, welcome!

I found that the unhelpful consultants really cast a shadow over everything. You're definitely not alone there. The good news I found from an overnight stay in L&D is that that when you're in L&D, it's the midwives that really look after you, even when you're under consultant-let care. The consultants just breeze in, say their piece, then let the midwives get in with whatever needs doing. I imagine they get more involved once the pushing stage nears, but I don't get the impression that they're around much before or after that.

Fingers crossed that the midwife you like is on duty while you're there!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/04/2022 18:13

@Zibidee, I have mild GD (diet controlled) and the GD consultant at my hospital (Chelsea & Westminster) says that with no other complications, they're typically happy to let mums with well-controlled GD go to 40+5. I would definitely push back to know what exactly about your specific situation necessitates induction and what are the risks of giving it more time? If they have good, solid reasons specific to you, it's probably s good idea to consider it. If they can't provide you with that, I'd ask for a second opinion.

I was hoping I'd be able to wait a bit longer and try for spontaneous labour; unfortunately, my blood pressure had other plans and I'm being induced at 38 weeks, which is tomorrow, at noon. 😳

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/04/2022 20:29

@aNewYorkerInLondon good luck for tomorrow! Do you feel ready for baby to come now? I still haven't packed my bags!

YummyMummyXoX · 19/04/2022 20:29

@aNewYorkerInLondon
Oh my gosh how are you feeling about your induction tomorrow? Crazy you could be holding your baby any day now. It was sprung on me that I may be admitted and induced TODAY. Glad that didn't need to be the case, just taking each day at a time can't plan ahead with this pregnancy whatsoever 🙈 x

Zibidee · 19/04/2022 20:47

@anewyorkerinlondon induction isn't until 40wks exactly so hoping my body will be ready, or he'll already be out and will avoid induction but I was a late baby, so was my mum so I doubt it!
But good luck for yours, I guess with blood pressure it's so important to just do what the docs say. And it also means meeting your little one sooner and not having the last two or more weeks of waddling around uncomfortably!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/04/2022 21:00

@Bubbasmama2017, @YummyMummyXoX, and @Zibidee, thank you! I have butterflies, but I think I'm mentally ready. I'm still getting may bag together. I hadn't purchased very many newborn sized clothes, but as he's very likely to be in newborn size (at 36 weeks he was only 33rd percentile, plus two weeks early), I had a couple packs of plain bodysuits and a half-dozen sleepers delivered from John Lewis this morning. (if needed, they have packs of plain white bodysuits at a very good price!) They're now washed and ready to go into the bag. This may sound odd, but I absolutely love folding baby's clothes! I find it to be calming. I wanted to take a grab bag of sweets for the midwives, then I forgot about it, so Amazon Fresh is delivering that by 10am tomorrow. So I guess all that's left is to finish putting things in the bags, shower, and try to get a good night's sleep.

I'm so excited to meet our baby boy - and figure out his name! - but I'm not at that hating-pregnancy stage quite yet, so its not quite the relief it might otherwise be. I hope that baby is ready to come out. I would have really liked to experience spontaneous labour, and the syntocinon makes me a bit nervous, but it is what it is and we'll see how it goes.

For everyone, I would definitely start packing your bags soon, as it is taking me longer than I would have thought so its best to just get it done.

I'll keep you all posted!

Zibidee · 19/04/2022 21:06

Wonderful positivity - well done you! Wishing you a good birth!

Sarah239 · 19/04/2022 21:16

@aNewYorkerInLondon good luck tomorrow! I will be thinking of you! Check in when you can but no pressure of course!

@Kittycaz that all sounds exciting, how many weeks are you if you don't mind me asking?

Hi @Zibidee! I don't have much to add but it sounds frustrating. It's definitely justified to ask for reasoning. If they just say "you have GD" then try and keep pushing for a more detailed explanation, I say! My EDD is also 16th May.

Currently silently praying that I don't go into early labour whilst I have Covid. I am 36+1 today. Spoke to a midwife today who was reassuring. Just have to hope for the best! Symptoms could still be much worse but I am a bit sick of feeling ill now... my blocked nose is so annoying and I get sharp bump pains when I cough which I think is round ligament pain.

fejkalove · 19/04/2022 21:47

Good luck tomorrow @aNewYorkerInLondon will be thinking of you!

I'm due to have a Doppler scan this week as baby had dropped centiles at the last 2 scans but there are no appointments...nor are there for my growth scan next week so I'm a bit stumped with what to do!

Glad you're feeling mostly better @Sarah239 apart from the nose! Has your husband remained negative? fingers crossed
I had it 5 weeks ago so really hoping I won't catch it again this side of baby especially as I've just discovered I've spent most of the weekend with someone who now has it. Hmm

Kittycaz · 20/04/2022 06:30

@Sarah239 I'm 37+5 today.
Off to hospital in couple of hours to find out what they're gonna do with the polyhydramnios. I couldn't sleep last night, my step nana was messaging before bed (ex nurse) and said they could just wheel me straight up to have LO then and there if its still high as I'm classed as term. So excited/nervous.
Welcome @Zibidee 💕

@YfenniChristie my bra size hasn't changed either though I did get some nursing bras because I figure I may need to wear breast pads once my milk comes in. If my breasts suddenly swell to being bigger then I'll have to get some new ones!

@Luckygreenduck congratulations on the arrival of your baby! It's getting so real now for the rest of us. I really hope you are together full time soon when he's well enough.

@Zibidee I'm sorry your consultant visit was so unhelpful. I find that some midwives and consultants seem to go out of their way to answer your questions and reassure you but others just go through the motions. You absolutely can do this - we are all in this together. You've got this far through the pregnancy and it's the last little bit now. Try to focus on all the things you can control and I hope you don't get the same consultant next time

@aNewYorkerInLondon oh my goodness! I hope everything goes smoothly for you today - thinking of you

@Kittycaz I hope everything goes well today

Can't believe there were so many posts to catch up on from one day of not checking! I feel like the baby has dropped yesterday because I was really struggling to walk. Had my last midwife check yesterday before my c-section next Tuesday. I'm praying baby doesn't come naturally before then whilst still breech. I strangely don't feel quite so uncomfortable today as I did yesterday so don't know what that's about really
