A cheeseburger chaser as my OH calls them @beansprout55 😂😂

unknownscot · 28/04/2022 22:22

Has anyone thought about perineal massage?

Prema112 · 28/04/2022 22:30

Also really breathless here! And baby is head down. My resting hr is now around 100 too

@PeeAche2 loved your update, what a special time for you all. I still can't quite believe you have an outside baby! Do you miss being pregnant in any way??

Just been out for dinner with my parents and siblings. Didn't feel baby move for about 3 hours so of course I spent the whole meal gradually worrying more and more. And now that I'm lying in bed what's he doing? Having a little party of course 🙄 So sick of the constant worry but I know you ladies will understand!

Yecats22 · 28/04/2022 22:31

Hi all, I have been following the post since thread 3/4 and love hearing all of your stories and comparing with myself.

I am a FTM due June 4th.

I am on blood thinning injections and had 3 episodes of reduced movement and eventually met my consultant today after various cancellations and I have surprisingly been booked in to be induced at exactly 37 weeks.

I don’t know why I decided to write this evening but I feel a whole mixture of emotions today.

Prema112 · 28/04/2022 22:31

@unknownscot I've thought about it, and then not done it! I don't like it it's such a pain...

t0nim92 · 28/04/2022 22:36

@Yecats22

Hey. Was the plan for you to always be induced? Doesn’t sound like you’ve had the best pregnancy.

How are you feeling about it? At least you have a set date to be ready and expect baby for x

Yecats22 · 28/04/2022 22:47

I had a bit of tough time but I still feel
physically that I have been really luck apart from sickness until about 17 weeks which wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

I haven’t been in much pain and I have still slept 8hours most nights until the last week so I don’t like to complain.

it was mentioned previously that I maybe induced but I thought it would be around 39 weeks not 37 weeks.

I am nervous, scared and excited all at once.. it’s nice to know I will have baby with me in the next couple of weeks but also a worry that my body may not be fully ready at 37 weeks x

AlbatrossSociety · 28/04/2022 23:03

Yes to the breathlessness! And @Vimto1991 what you describe definitely sounds familiar, certain positions I get palpitations or can end up feeling really nauseous or lightheaded.

Also went on a walk the other day and I think baby must have dropped as I suddenly couldn't lift my legs straight up and had to lift them out to the side! Ended up on a big staircase and must have looked so strange trying to go up them! But they seem to have shifted again now.

We have not found out baby's gender so far but I have an additional scan on Tuesday and I'm soooo tempted. I think it will end up with me back on consultant led care with big baby so I'd like some part of it to look forward to!

@Yecats22 welcome, must be quite overwhelming to actually know when baby is coming!! I don't think your body would be less ready at 37 weeks than it would at 42 weeks. So much of the body getting ready happens with the birth!!

Yecats22 · 28/04/2022 23:21

yes it is today has been a blur the full day. I wasn’t due to finish work until 20th May so have has to try and rearrange work.. and although I have most things organised I feel unorganised because it’s only 2 weeks away.
I hope so baby is in the right position and feels quite low my bump is a lot lower than it was this time last week so hoping it all goes smoothly. x

t0nim92 · 28/04/2022 23:43

@Yecats22

You’ll probably feel a bit better after you’ve had a few days to let it sink in. In 2 weeks is really soon. Do you have much to do/get?

@AlbatrossSociety
I’m sure you probably looked hilarious. I didn’t know it felt so different when baby dropped? If I ever get pains and have to do anything weird I always put my hand on my bump so people realise I’m pregnant. If I’m wearing a baggy tshirt or a big dress nobody seems to realise.

Hoping to pick up some spatone tomorrow becos whatever the doctor gives me, makes me feel broken from the waist below. Hoping my energy levels improve quickly after I start taking it.

Me and my son are off to butlins for our last ‘mummy and son’ holiday on Monday. We used to go away a lot before covid so thought I’d try and get a final one in before baby arrives. We’ve booked half board dining so looking forward to making the most of the all you can eat breakfast and dinner lol x

RoseValleyRambles · 28/04/2022 23:52

Is anyone else outgrowing their maternity gear? :D

Brightsmoke · 29/04/2022 04:12

@JAR1981, both measuring big and glucose in pee, so had a scan and glucose test. Find out today 🤞🏻

@C1ueless22 that's awful! No advice other than echoing what others have said re Pregnant then screwed.

Hope all went well @pregnancydiaries

I get it @PlodandPod because I'm the same but the opposite way. Need to practise what I preach, but it's more stressful than I imagined!

@fpeg glad you're going home, but how infuriating for you! Hopefully it's a smoother ride for you from now on. Thanks for the description of your contractions. Even 1 baby in I have no idea what to expect 😂

That sounds crap @BunBun221. I have considerably more discharge but not to that extent!

You're not wasting their time @GrowBabyGrow! Glad all was ok

I was thinking we haven't heard from @4thtimethecharm too @beansprout55. Also hoping all is ok

@unknownscot I've started perineal massage. Hoping it helps at least 🤞🏻

Welcome @Yecats22. You don't have to accept the induction if you don't feel ready, it's your baby your choice remember 😊

@t0nim92 sounds lovely, have a great break 😊

Yes, me too @RoseValleyRambles!! I've given up on mat jeans entirely, leggings are see through now, so stick to joggers and dresses now 😂

Sorry for my downer post yesterday. I'm feeling better now 😊

PlodandPod · 29/04/2022 06:32

RoseValleyRambles · 28/04/2022 23:52

Is anyone else outgrowing their maternity gear? :D

Yes! I'm usually a jeans over leggings person, but I don't remember the last time I wore my maternity jeans now 😢 Struggling with tops too but reluctant to buy anything else at this late stage!

PlodandPod · 29/04/2022 06:49

Does anyone have any tips/ideas for a going home outfit for mum please? I've sorted pretty much everything in the hospital bag, except knowing what to pack for myself to come home in. Unsure on loungewear as it (in theory) should be hot, but I'm under no illusion I'll be fitting straight back in to a pre-baby summer dress. A bit stuck!

fpeg · 29/04/2022 06:49

Morning all! I feel so much better after a night's sleep!

Welcome @Yecats22 hope you're feeling ok, big news to get your head around, don't forget induction likely to take a few days too so you may be closer to 38 weeks by the time LO makes an appearance xx

@Brightsmoke glad you're feeling better today, this pregnancy park really does make you have up and down days doesn't it?!

@PeeAche2 I have a question if you don't mind... after my recent experience one of the things that was on my mind is that there's no sign of milk yet in my boobs. Interestingly when the second lot of contractions kicked in they did start to go much more firm and got tender, but still nothing expressable. I saw on your post the other day that you are expressing and I know that you said at first you were on breast milk donations... hope long did it take your milk to come in after your wee one was born? Did you just hook up to the pump from day one to try and get things moving? I'm not doing anything to push it right now as I know nipple stimulation can help kick things off (last thing I need 🙄) but I was curious of the mechanics had LO actually put in an appearance, because I feel there was nothing there for her has she done so. Don't worry if you can't answer but thought I'd ask the question xxx (#shouldveaskedthemidwives)

I'm thinking high waist leggings/maternity leggings, vest top and a shirt over it.

Comfort!

RooSut25 · 29/04/2022 07:17

@RoseValleyRambles yes! I still have to look smart for work and it's get increasingly hard to find anything I can wear. Tops are the worst as none of them seem to be long enough to cover my belly! Still have 4 weeks of work left so I think I might have to buy more, but I'm not even sure where to look...

@unknownscot I was planning to start from 34 weeks (next week) but I'm not looking forward to it. But anything to try and avoid some tears!

@Yecats22 welcome! Totally understand your anxiety, I hope you feel a bit better once you've had some time to process and plan for it.

Prema112 · 29/04/2022 07:31

@fpeg I don't know what it's like with milk when your babe is prem but when I had my son I saw no sign of milk for 3 days, wasn't convinced he was getting any but he was, my colostrum was very elusive but he was satisfied on it and then milk came in day 3, it's like magic...

fpeg · 29/04/2022 07:33

@Prema112 this is good to know, thank you 🙏 this part of the whole pregnancy and giving birth but feels the most mystical to me 😂

PlodandPod · 29/04/2022 07:36

@unknownscot Yes good point, comfort will be the main thing!

@Prema112 Thanks for this. I was wondering how long it takes for milk to come in and what you do in the meantime. Did you harvest colostrum too?

Prema112 · 29/04/2022 07:39

@PlodandPod No I didn't to be honest I never really saw the colostrum it was a bit of a mystery to me!

Vimto1991 · 29/04/2022 07:40

Todays my last day of work and I’m not sure what to do with myself. I think I’m definitely harbouring guilt I’m leaving so soon, and part of me wants to cancel a week of annual leave so I can use it the other side as another four days next week doesn’t seem too bad.
I don’t get mat pay, but my annual leave works out pretty well. I’m taking 14 days before, and still have 20 on my return due to bank holidays and accrued holidays, so essentially plan to return end of June and be off 14 months, and my savings should cover it.
but what the heck do I do with myself the first five weeks before my due date!!

Prema112 · 29/04/2022 07:40

Ooo we're about to run out of room! Someone make a new group and post the link here? I'm not sure how...

PlodandPod · 29/04/2022 07:42

Will do a new thread now :)

Octoblockisadick · 29/04/2022 14:13

I can't keep up half the time anymore haha!
@DaimDillyDoo and @GrowBabyGrow glad everything OK with you 2!
@beansprout55 I felt like that at 31/32 weeks, but since I hit 33 weeks baby dropped a bit and my breathing is so much easier. As long as I have a pee often and don't let my bladder get too full I'm honestly finding this last week a million times easier than the previous 3 or so.
@Letsbekindplease I keep getting daggers too! It's so uncomfortable but hopefully means baby is nice and low so I'll take it haha.
@unknownscot hope the scan was good this morning! I keep debating perineal massage but don't actually know if I would be physically capable of reaching to do it at the moment 🤣. The newest evidence seems to say it doesn't really make any difference (evidence based birth did an article and podcast about it), but can't see that it would hurt trying.
@RoseValleyRambles me 🙋‍♀️! I've got about 3 things I can actually wear so I'm on a never ending cycle of washing haha.
@PlodandPod either maternity leggings or a stretchy summer dress in a bigger size for me I think to go home in.
@fpeg I've read that it's the hormones released by the placenta detaching from your womb that triggers milk production, so in theory being prem shouldn't matter. My midwife has okayed me starting harvesting colostrum even though I'm early, just said to stop if any signs of cramps. On an evening I'm sitting watching TV milking myself like a cow, it's ridiculous 🙈🤣.
