@EarlGreywithLemon my baby has been stubbornly sideways for weeks but at the scan he was amazingly head down! (34 weeks) Although his feet are still out to the right side and his spine is on my left side- doesn't sound very comfortable!

PeeAche2 · 27/04/2022 09:07

@Katiebaby13 I had heartburn and indigestion so bad that it made me weep.

It's called GERD and it's common in pregnancy but not something you should have to tolerate.

Call your GP and they will prescribe you either Omeprezole (effective) or Esomeprezole (even more effective)

Safe to take during pregnancy and a total game changer.

Please don't just "soldier on", it will vastly improve your quality of life and enjoyment of your pregnancy if you just get some of this stuff.

You can buy both of these off-the-shelf in the supermarkets too. (Next to the Gaviscon) but they're £10 a pack, so ask your GP.

Good news is that mine went away the very moment baby was born!

EarlGreywithLemon · 27/04/2022 09:47

@Prema112 that’s great news! My little one also has his spine to my left and legs to my right. Practising for a career as a contortionist?

Prema112 · 27/04/2022 10:13

@EarlGreywithLemon 😂😂

Right ladies, to the important question: Big Knickers. What did you go with? What would anyone recommend? I know some people posted about ones they liked but I didn't make notes!

Katiebaby13 · 27/04/2022 10:29

Thanks @PeeAche2 @Prema112

Definitely going to have to get in touch with the doctor's. Can't cope feeling like that again. I naively didn't know it could be that bad and make you phisically sick. I have a lot of empathy for people who regularly suffer with it. There was definitely tears last night.

I bought some big knickers from Asda and Primark but would be interested in what others recommend.

EarlGreywithLemon · 27/04/2022 10:34

I’m having an ELCS so a bit different, but I’ve got some Cantaloop C Section big knickers: www.johnlewis.com/cantaloop-caesarean-section-briefs-pack-of-2-white-black/p587769

They are pricey, but two friends who had C sections swear by them and say they were so comfy they wore them for months after 😊

Flowerbug1994 · 27/04/2022 10:56

@Prema112 can’t recommend these Asda maternity ones enough. I am wearing them now as knickers was slipping down and uncomfy so I bit the bullet and bought 10 pairs then bought another 10 for my hospital bag come right up to under my bra. Not attractive at all but comfort leaves is 10/10. And I feel like if they get ruined after birth and I have to throw them away for £1.50 a pair it won’t hurt 😂😂😂 direct.asda.com/george/women/lingerie/knickers/maternity-black-full-brief-knickers-5-pack/GEM929593,default,pd.html?cgid=D1M18G2C2&_gl=124yfxc_gaYW1wLVpCdTY1LXBVNDF6SWxETWRjY0FURDZJbU4wenByUzFLZjMza0hHeHVYdUNTQXhQcVFhWlMyNXRrMlQxcnVrUnk._gcl_dc*R0NMLjE2NTA4MTA4MTEuQ0ppT3JyWDFyUGNDRlFseEd3b2Q4U0VLNEE.

MrsNT · 27/04/2022 10:57

@Rolledthedice
Do you know what percentile your baby femur was ?
Also sonographer said while everything is in normal range baby is on small side which has me even more worried. I was underweight on BMI before this pregnancy and since then have gained about 13 14kg. And at my 1st midwife appt i was told due to being underweight I might have a small baby.

MrsNT · 27/04/2022 10:58

@Flowerbug1994 i saw these in store but wssnt sure what size to get
If I was a size 8/10 before pregnancy do I get same 8/10 in this mat knickers?

Flowerbug1994 · 27/04/2022 11:11

@MrsNT yes I got normal size and they are great. Honestly don’t know how I’ll go back to other knickers 😂😂

MrsNT · 27/04/2022 11:22

@Flowerbug1994 saw these when i went to buy some for hospital bag and ended up buying normal asda knickers in size 12 . That was about £5 for 5 so not bad. Will check these out again though. Thanks

fpeg · 27/04/2022 11:40

@Katiebaby13 that sounds like a horrendous night! Hope you're feeling better now! I also agree with @PeeAche2 omeprazole has been a game changer for me, I've gone from chugging the gaviscon to not needing it. Also delighted to hear that it goes away as soon as baby is born!!!

@PleaseSendNoodles that's quite a journey! Please look after yourself! Glad that you got to see your OH though ❤️

As for me, contractions appear to have totally stopped at the moment. They are keeping me in today as they want 24 hours clear of contractions, but if all stays this way they'll allow me home tomorrow, yay!!! Just had a shower and feel so human again! If contractions come back they'll progress the labour, so win-win really, either I go home or I meet my little girl ☺️ they've said that if contractions don't come back in 24 hours then very often they don't and baby carries on to term and they even need to induce them, so that sounds positive. At least I know what early labour feels like now!

PleaseSendNoodles · 27/04/2022 12:05

@fpeg thank you! Glad you’re doing okay and I think you’re right that it’s a win-win. If labour progresses despite the intervention, I guess it means she’s determined to make her arrival! Keep us updated. Sending love! 💕

EarlGreywithLemon · 27/04/2022 12:13

@fpeg you’re handling this so well! Thinking of you and keep us updated!

Roxystar23 · 27/04/2022 12:41

@fpeg - Great to hear!!

@Vimto1991 - I’m craving McDonalds now! Haha!

Thanks for all the knicker recommendations! I’m noting them all down. I’m really struggling to find a lightweight dressing gown that will cover my bum - has anyone found one? Also, I can’t find any button nightdresses - will I be okay to wear a standard nightie for labour (hopefully VBAC) and then I’d just whip it off for skin to skin?

Vimto1991 · 27/04/2022 12:48

@Prema112
i got these, sized up one and they looked massive but fit my fat ass perfectly and so comfy! No more tight elastic!!

@fpeg fantastic news you get to go home soon, but yeah really is a win/win regardless! Is there a part of you hoping they’ll kick back up again? 🙈 I know part of me would, but another part of me would scream I’m not ready! Even though it’s been 34 weeks I’m not ready at all 😂😂

@Roxystar23 I didn’t mention McDonald’s but now I want one 😂😂 now you got me craving it too!! Just a box of their pickles will do 😋

fpeg · 27/04/2022 12:50

@Vimto1991 I must be honest yes, I think because I had to get myself in the mindset she was likely on her way and I was about to meet her it's a bit sad (in the best possible way) to think I've still got to wait for that moment. What these babies do to us eh?!

Letsbekindplease · 27/04/2022 12:50

I bought big black briefs when I had my son and bought them in a bigger size. They were from Asda. I actually have worn them every day since haha. They’re so comfortable.

I had a call from the dr today and wondering if anyone in same situation. I’ve had issues with low ferritin in the past. They called me today to say that it’s still low. I’m on iron tablets and also taking the pregnancy vitamin and trying to eat more veg but it’s obviously doing nothing. It was mentioned about an iron transfusion? has anyone had one before ? Sounds a bit horrendous.

Also had appointment yesterday and they aren’t sure if baby is head or butt down. I think baby is head down because she was the other day and where they got heartbeat would indicate she is head down. They just want to check so I’m getting a presentation scan.

pregnancydiaries · 27/04/2022 13:28

@fpeg great news that little one is staying in, although i think im with you that I'd just want to meet them now. Im already like that and only 32weeks here.

@Letsbekindplease I'm getting an iron transfusion tomorrow - I'll report back and let you know how it is.

@4thtimethecharm @PeeAche2 update us on your little ones please!!💗💙

Prema112 · 27/04/2022 13:29

@Vimto1991 @Flowerbug1994 @Katiebaby13 thanks for the knicker recommendations! @EarlGreywithLemon I've saved your recommendation to be bought quickly if I have a CS!

@fpeg Such good news! I can imagine also a little disappointing, at least you'll get to bring your beautifully packed hospital bag next time!

pregnancydiaries · 27/04/2022 13:30

Also on the MacDonald's front, I had the new chicken Mcspicy for lunch today and it was delightful 😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 27/04/2022 13:48

@Roxystar23 I got a light dressing gown last time from Happy Mama and have used it ever since. I’m taking it with me this time too. Something like this www.happymama.co.uk/maternity-dressing-gown.html

Letsbekindplease · 27/04/2022 13:59

@pregnancydiaries please do. Good luck tomorrow. I searched some old mumsnet threads and it doesn’t seem too bad at all. Maybe just the cabin going in but I didn’t mind that after birth of my son. Let me know and hope it goes well. Apparently take snacks and a book or something to keep you occupied

annie1994 · 27/04/2022 14:03

@Letsbekindplease I had an iron transfusion with my first labour and it’s absolutely fine! Just like you’re having a bag of IV fluids (looks like coca cola though). If you’re finding iron tablets affecting your bowels, you’ll probably find this makes it 10 x worse (constipation or diarrhoea) but other than that it was just like an other IV. Hopefully it’ll help you feel better!

MrsNT · 27/04/2022 14:06

@Roxystar23 i bought a light summery dressing gown from matalan a few weeks ago. Was less than £15 .do check it out in store
