Good luck @fpeg! Glad things seem to be calming down a bit with the contractions!

Octoblockisadick · 26/04/2022 10:43

Try and get some rest if you can @fpeg, I bet you are shattered! Have they said what the plan would be if labour stops? Will you just carry on until labour starts again?

@Roxystar23 if I shine my phone torch at my belly I get a massive jump haha. Probably annoys him but I quite like it haha!

@PeeAche2 so glad to hear your daughter is doing well, is she still in nicu?
@4thtimethecharm hope your little boy is doing good too ❤

@Vimto1991 sorry you are feeling crap! I bet you never normally would wish for it to be a migraine! Hope the appointment goes well, do you think she will do bloods to check for pre-eclampsia just in case?

My daughter came to me this morning really confused as to why the baby was "back in my tummy". Apparently the dentist had taken him out and she got to see him and he was so tiny and so adorable 🤣. I had to explain that it must've been a dream because when he comes out he can't go back in haha.

EarlGreywithLemon · 26/04/2022 10:43

Ugh I see I’ve got the multiple posting thing too!

@fpeg thinking of you and good luck! I had no idea early contractions could just feel like period pains. Hope the meds do their job and put off labour a couple more weeks, even though as others have said you’re in a good position now.

@Brightsmoke good luck with your GTT. My baby was measuring in the 97 percentile at my 32 week scan and since been diagnosed with GD. It’s a lot to take in at this late stage! I’m only 8 stone and 5ft 5 so they are also talking of induction or ELCS for me. Like someone else said, I’m ok with the pessaries or balloon but I do not want a sweep or the drip, think I’d rather ELCS than the drip. Keep us updated with your GTT result.

@destiEos glad the water is working for you. My readings have been great for the past week but seem to have hit a hump. Last night had my first red after dinner (8.8) which made me cry which I know is silly but I so wanted a square of dark chocolate and a couple of almonds with my cup of tea before bed. I’d looked forward to that square of chocolate all day :(. This morning was also high at 5.2 (right on the cusp of target) so I’m not sure what’s going on, does GD get progressively worse until 36 weeks? Also not sure what the deal is with snacking and whether I should be doing it or not? The hospital have been useless in still not calling me back since they failed to ring me for my booked appointment with the GD nurse and dietician. I can’t get hold of anyone so will see if my midwife has any ideas at appointment later.

Joining the lack of movement pattern here. The one thing i always have is movement after dinner and when I get into bed on an eve, but through the day it’s anyone’s guess. Making me v anxious, so I have been pretty grumpy with hubs since he got back from Italy yesterday. Please can someone put me to sleep for the next 5.5 weeks and wake me up with a healthy baby?

JAR1981 · 26/04/2022 10:54

Sorry to hear you’re feeling rubbish @Vimto1991 hope it’s just a migraine but def get checked out.

Vimto1991 · 26/04/2022 11:04

@EarlGreywithLemon oh wow that’s really informative thanks! Weirdly my migraines went from horrid pain to just auras recently but would tend to last longer than half hour, my last ones with pain were around the crash last year but the doctor I saw said that tends to be from whiplash. Probably should count myself lucky if that’s all it was, but did leave me feeling drained! So strange it happened to both you and your friend at the same time. Hopefully will just be that but my health anxiety is so high right now as we get into the final weeks before baby is here!

@Octoblockisadick i think just blood pressure and urine test as standard. My feet and hands aren’t swollen, but I keep seeing these floaters that are bright, thought nothing of it as I thought pre clampsia flashes were literally flashes of light, but looking into it could be a sign so I’ll raise with the midwife anyway. Hopefully it’s just my stupid eyes 😂

@JAR1981 thank you! yeah luckily today is midwife check up day so hope to get some clarification and peace of mind!!

unknownscot · 26/04/2022 11:09

@JAR1981 I'm laughing away to myself. Can tell I'm not down the the GD chat - when I read you had red after dinner I thought you meant a red wine 😂😂

Flowerbug1994 · 26/04/2022 11:13

@JAR1981 how bad is the anxiety that comes with no pattern of movement it’s litterly had me in tears a couple of times these past couple of days am just so warn out with it all currently trying to book another weeks annual leave before maternity so I only have 3 weeks left cause I just am not coping well at the minute. Am petrified something bad is going to happen and have no need to be I have had the smoothest pregnancy possible. I litterly sobbed yesterday when hospital told me my growth scan that’s due for this weekend most likely isn’t going to be until 14th of May time 😭😭😭

JAR1981 · 26/04/2022 11:22

@unknownscot 🤣 I wish. With a rare steak then some nice stinky non pasteurised cheese. Followed my a chocolate fondant. I think I’m delirious!

@Flowerbug1994 know how you feel. Not long to go now though. My mum asked if I’d enjoyed pregnancy at the weekend and I think only weeks 17- 24. The rest I’ve been an anxious mess.

Flowerbug1994 · 26/04/2022 11:28

@JAR1981 i was great all the way through no sickness or anything only thing I got first few weeks was tiredness and constipation sorry if TMI. But I have found it so anxiety inducing since about 24 weeks when they say take notice of movements. I think maybe it’s because that’s when they stand a chance of survival. Hopefully if they book my section I only 5 weeks to go. Going to speak to midwife at my 34 week app Thursday and really push for her to get it booked so I feel a bit of control it will lessen my anxiety.

MrsNT · 26/04/2022 11:47

Hi ladies
Had my 32 week growth scan today and baby is in breech position. Feeling a bit down because of it :(
What can I do to fix it 😭

MrsNT · 26/04/2022 12:01

Also is there anyone else on here who has had a baby femur in 5th percentile at 32 weeks? Sonographer said all within normal range but im getting worried. Baby was around 8th percentile femur at 28 week scan

JAR1981 · 26/04/2022 12:23

@MrsNT loads of advice here: www.spinningbabies.com/pregnancy-birth/baby-position/breech/

Flowerbug1994 · 26/04/2022 12:25

@MrsNT my baby has been breech for around 5 weeks now. Well that’s when they spotted it I think he’s been that way since about 24 weeks. He’s not showing any signs of turning at the moment I spoke to consultant last week and she said at 37 weeks we can either have a conversation to birth vaginally as this is still your choice(I am not up for doing this), perform ECV ( manual turning) or book section. There is a website called spinning babies that really helps people but it hasn’t helped me am resigning myself to the fact am having a section at 39 weeks. What are you feelings on section ? Look in to ECV I looked and it’s really not for me but many people have it done.

Slanketeer · 26/04/2022 12:58

@MrsNT My baby was also breech on my 32w growth scan (now 32+3). He's been lying that way for about 6 weeks and seems very settled! From what I've read 7% of babies are breech at 32w and only 3-4% by term so there's still about a 50% chance of them turning. My midwife has said there's no real evidence to suggest anything we do influences whether they turn or not but I've been trying to sit and bounce on my yoga ball instead of a chair all day in the hope that and gravity might encourage them. Not personally going to bother with any other exercises though in the absence of any evidence as I know that will only make me more worried about it all.

Like @Flowerbug1994 says if they stay breech you should have a consultant appointment at 37 weeks where they'll go through options of ECV vs vaginal birth vs CS. Having sat in on lots of these conversations through work they're normally very good at going through it all with you. Personally I'll be opting for CS if they don't turn but hopefully they'll be good at helping you make the right decision for you.

Also my trust doesn't measure femur length at all on growth scans as apparently they're so unreliable and just cause a lot of unnecessary anxiety when they come back low in the absence of any other concerning features.

MrsNT · 26/04/2022 13:09

@Slanketeer thanks for sharing your experience. Gives me some reassurance.
At my 28 week scan baby was horizontal (transverse) and 32 weeks is breech . I understand ec is safe but still the thought of getting a surgery done does scare me.

@Flowerbug1994 @jar1981 thanks for sharing links.
I have midwife appt next week so lets see what she says /suggests.

EarlGreywithLemon · 26/04/2022 13:15

@fpeg very best of luck, thinking of you both!

Vimto1991 · 26/04/2022 15:24

spoke to midwife, my urine and blood pressure are both fine, no signs of edema in hands, feet or face, no blinding headaches, so the flashing lights can just be something else but to keep an eye on other symptoms of pre eclampsia.
then I got sent to the hospital for bloods to check my liver from my itchy legs and feet, so we shall see what comes of that.

out of six hours work I’ve done two today, on my last week before mat leave. 🙈🙈

fpeg · 26/04/2022 15:43

Thank you to everyone who has sent your well wishes! Sleep deprivation means I'm afraid to tag you all and miss someone out 😂 they've managed to all but stop the labour now, just occasional contractions, but if it starts up again they aren't giving me any more drugs to stop it as they only did that to get the steroids successfully on board (those injecting string a lot by the way - you have been warned 😂). Just being monitored now and once they are happy she's behaving they'll send me to the ward. So it's wait and see now! Contractions will either stop completely or they'll start up again and they'll progress to delivering her. Hospital not that busy at the moment which is nice, but obviously that could change any time!

Roxystar23 · 26/04/2022 15:47

@Vimto1991 Great news about the blood/urine tests. Fingers crossed for good news about your blood tests!
re: Baby wanting more space - I feel huge as it is - I was hoping to not get too much bigger so this baby is just gonna have to put up with the space they have already made for themselves! Haha!

@Letsbekindplease - I’m not sure what is going on with MN at the moment - it’s causing me all sorts of bother! Lol.

@Octoblockisadick - Ooh! I’ll have to try the torch trick!

I’ve just got back from my growth scan - Baby is measuring at 5.9lbs. Has put on 2.7lbs in the last 4 weeks. Currently measuring overall within 81st percentile. They’ve booked me in for another scan in 5 weeks (I’ll be almost 39 weeks then) but I’m starting to want the baby to come sooner if baby continues on the same trajectory.

Vimto1991 · 26/04/2022 16:01

@Roxystar23 thanks! I also have no idea how I can get much bigger. IM HUGE!! Baby isn’t even big they’re like 5lb by now so predicted around high 7lbs/low 8lbs, it’s not even fluid.
probably just McDonald’s 😂😂

Octoblockisadick · 26/04/2022 16:24

Oh @JAR1981 now you are talking! A nice rare steak, some brie or roquefort, and a starter of pate would be bliss right about now.

@MrsNT agreed with the recommendations for spinning babies. I don't think they are that bothered about breech until 36 weeks or so, but no harm in trying things to flip baby. Personally I would also go section over ecv, but if it comes to that get all the info and weigh up the pros and cons.

@Vimto1991 glad you are clear for pre-eclampsia, and hope the icp bloods are clear too!

@fpeg that's great news! And I had the steroids last time, you aren't wrong that they sting like hell haha!

fpeg · 26/04/2022 16:41

@Vimto1991 sorry I missed that your results had come back clear, that's fabulous news!

fpeg · 26/04/2022 16:44

@PeeAche2 so glad your baby girl is doing well!
@4thtimethecharm hope your little one is progressing well too ❤️
