@slowrunningteacher ah this is really interesting to read - thank you! When I googled it - all the comments were that you couldn't get two cameras to work! I may have to look at getting a second one then as I want to keep an eye on my toddler still!! X

Octoblockisadick · 25/04/2022 07:49

@Vimto1991 I've been leaking too, it's strange isn't it haha.

@Letsbekindplease I don't have the line either. I don't remember having it with my daughter though. I think if it was going to appear it would've by now. I've just got a nice patch of stretch marks under my belly button instead lol.

@Flowerbug1994 I'm 33+2 and I've not packed mine yet. I did write a list the other day of what I need to put in it though so I've sort of made a start.

@beansprout55 I've got a couple of swaddle / sleeping bags (purflo), other than those I'll just use blankets at first I think. My daughter was swaddled with a blanket when she was a baby and it was easy enough.

JAR1981 · 25/04/2022 07:56

happy Monday ladies! 14 days of work for me and definitely on countdown mode.

Has anyone looked into more eco-friendly disposable nappies? We may get cloth later down the line but for the first few weeks I feel like disposable would be easier. There’s a lot of options out there though and it hurts my brain!

slowrunningteacher · 25/04/2022 08:40

@sunflower198
Just make sure that the serial number of the one you buy has the same starting digit (or 2, I can't remember) as the one you already have. There's no compatibility between slightly newer cameras and older ones. Then it's pretty easy to set up.

Prema112 · 25/04/2022 09:35

Woohoo I've finally bought some newborn nappies! 100 from Aldi, soooo cheap!

Brightsmoke · 25/04/2022 09:52

@Prema112 I'm planning on just getting a ring camera this time, I'll put it downstairs when baby has finished with it to spy on my dog 😅. It also means I can be in the garden and not concerned about distance of the monitor reaching

My husband is the same RE baby movements. He couldn't care less 😂

Any detergent that's non bio is fine for baby clothes, so personal preference as to brand :)

I've got my growth scan today, surprised at how quickly they're fitting me in. Then glucose test is Thursday. Hoping all will be ok and I can continue with my home birth 🤞🏻

fpeg · 25/04/2022 10:04

@Brightsmoke good luck 🤞

@JAR1981 I'm having a conversation with my boss today to see about using 3 days of annual leave to move my mat leave forwards, giving me 2 clear weeks before my induction. If it's approved then I've only got 8 working days left which is bloody wonderful as motivation definitely lacking now!

Prema112 · 25/04/2022 10:19

@Brightsmoke Thanks, that's an idea. Good luck with the scan today!

GrowBabyGrow · 25/04/2022 11:23

@fpeg I hope the conversation with your boss goes well! Definitely better to have two clear weeks to slow down and rest pre induction.

I have also had a chat with my boss about mat leave today! I was meant to be doing a phase out starting early June and then working up to 38 weeks but I'm already struggling so going to use some more annual leave to start going part time from mid May and then go at 37 weeks. I'd love to go even sooner but I think the stress of working out handover wouldn't be good for me. We still don't have someone in post for me to handover to 😩

I have a stinky, stinking cold. My ribs hurt when I sneeze, and when I blow my nose. And no decongestants for me.

I am very grumpy.

Apologies if that last post showed up weird (with a copy of the first thread post in it). Since the site refresh the app keeps having weird errors on me. :(

Vimto1991 · 25/04/2022 12:46

This is my last week at work for 14 months!! 😱😱 Re handover stress. Yeah I’m feeling it. They didn’t hire my replacement in time and they’re also not replacing every aspect of my job either! Some things I can’t even handover. Im still on projects and being led into calls - my whole week has been booked up with calls that I shouldn’t really be on but my replacement should be leading the projects now instead, which is exactly why I took three weeks annual leave and my mat leave two weeks earlier than planned.
I can’t be bothered to deal with the stress. They don’t care I’m supposed to be winding down!! 🤦‍♀️

I haven’t even thought of comparing models of cameras, shoved a bt one on my wish list but definitley taking all your comments on board, but probably won’t need one for six months anyway as I’m too scared of SIDS to let them out my sight. :(

it’s reusable nappy week so lots of good deals on FYI, just got nipper nappies for £8,99 rather than £16.99! I have 12 reusable nappies now. 🙈 not going to start until after the first few weeks, though.

has anyone seen this? Considering it but a mighty price!

I need something for baby that the cats can’t easily get to and plus I can roll baby around downstairs with me 🙈 and then I can nap on the sofa with them next to me if needs be? There’s a tiny love one that’s a crib 3 in 1 also that’s cheaper but not a make I’ve heard of before.

@Brightsmoke hope all goes well for you today!!

@RoseValleyRambles oh no! Hope you feel better soon :( mental how much stuff we CANT take when we feel ill, maybe a paracetamol can take the edge off for you?

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/04/2022 12:48

@JAR1981 we used Kit and Kin and Eco by Naty for our daughter (from Boots, Amazon and the Kit and Kin website). Both were good, but we found Eco by Naty are a better fit for our daughter so we slowly moved onto just using those. One advantage is that the more “eco” nappies tend to be more breathable. Our daughter never had any nappy rash (although it might just be luck and not related). They are more expensive than the usual ones though.

@vimto1991 paracetamol and Vicks are my friends. So splatted.

fpeg · 25/04/2022 15:56

Yay Mat leave being brought forward has been approved! Given that today is pretty much over that's 7 days of work left to go 😁😁😁

PleaseSendNoodles · 25/04/2022 16:07

@JAR1981 @EarlGreywithLemon Ive been looking at eco friendly disposables to use alongside cloth ones but they seem SO expensive. So I might just accept using pampers etc a bit at the beginning… 😬

MrsM29 · 25/04/2022 16:34

@PleaseSendNoodles we use Mama Bamboo eco nappies. The nappies and wipes are made from bamboo and are the softest nappies I have ever felt. They are also so much more breathable so don't give nappy rash. The are biodegradable and the wipes can go in your food waste bin. They also do 20% of when you subscribe so you get them delivered to your door which is great as we never run out

GrowBabyGrow · 25/04/2022 16:38

@fpeg wahooo that is brilliant!

I've just had a midwife appt and bump has gone from 75% centile to 25% centile so they are sending me for a growth scan. My iron levels have also crashed from being ok to borderline and they've tested again to check liver as still so itchy at night! Feeling pretty worried 😰

fpeg · 25/04/2022 17:07

@GrowBabyGrow thank you!

I hope the scan shows that everything is ok and that the liver results come back normal. A friend of mine had ICP and they gave her drugs to help and baby was lovely and healthy, so hope that can offer some comfort ❤️ are you on iron tablets already?

Vimto1991 · 25/04/2022 17:10

@PleaseSendNoodles I’ve seen My Pura, who do eco friendly biodegradable nappies, just not sure if this is expensive?

Subscribe & save (£16.90)
132 nappies / £2.82 per pack / 13p per nappy

mypura.com/products/eco-baby-nappies

otherwise I’ll be like you, using Tesco until I’m comfy enough to try the reusable nappies we have.

BunBun221 · 25/04/2022 17:11

Is anyone using shared parental leave? I'm finding it so confusing!

Vimto1991 · 25/04/2022 17:11

@GrowBabyGrow crossing my fingers all is okay and they are just a bit out! The tape measure method doesn’t seem perfect. I didn’t realise itchiness was a bad thing in pregnancy 😱

Lostintranslatio · 25/04/2022 17:20

@beansprout55 my baby does the same!! As soon as I asked my DP to put his hand on my belly or look at it, she stops moving 😂😂😂 Yesterday morning, when we woke up, I got his hand on my belly as she was dancing like crazy, and later on when I asked him what his thoughts were on the movements, he looked at me totally confused as apparently he had got asleep again 😂😂😂

Just back from my mw appointment and she was lovely. When I told her that I had been told twice that my bump is small, she explained to me that it's measuring a week behind, but not to worry as in the previous measurement it was also a week behind, so progression is OK. Anyway I have a growth scan next week, but I left the place very relieved.

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/04/2022 17:28

@BunBun221 we did with our daughter - I took 9 1/2 months and my husband took 2 1/2. HR were very good at laying it out very clearly for us. What are you planning?

Vimto1991 · 25/04/2022 17:56

@GrowBabyGrow googled itching and guess I need to speak to my useless midwife tomorrow. 😬
how bad is your itching? Was it ICP you were tested for?
