@mrkb yep - my little one's heartrate was up at 170 when I arrived too - probably my stress, and dropped low enough to average somwhere they were happy after half an hour or so.

@PeeAche2 so glad to hear they're looking after you so well, especially hubby brushing hair 😂 I shall be mentioning that to mine later this evening and hoping he gets the hint!

I bought some teeny shoes yesterday, I couldn't help myself - they are SO SMALL! Photo with AA battery for scale.

Wowowowowo! One goes away on holidays for a week just to find out when back that there's a baby here already!! What happened there!!?? 😂😂😂
@PeeAche2 congratulations on your little baby girl ♥️ I'm delighted to read she is doing very good ☺️☺️

@destiEos my mam bought a bunch of socks and OMG, they're so tiny 😍😍😍😍

Anyone feeling discomfort around their belly button? Belly has popped out hugely in the last week and I can feel mild discomfort in the area (more like muscles and tissues, not worried about baby).

Vimto1991 · 21/04/2022 19:16

@Brightsmoke thanks for the recommendation! I just popped down and got some wipes, a blanket and a hooded towel. Gutted they had no reusable nappies as I’ve got some baby bare ones but need to add to my pile before we start trialling it around 3 months old. :)

@Lostintranslatio yeah around my belly button is super tight and sometimes feels like it’s burning. I have stretch marks on my lower stomach but id really expect them around my belly button, too lol. I’ve been neglecting my moisturiser which probably doesn’t help. My belly button is a full on outie sometimes. 🙈

beansprout55 · 21/04/2022 19:17

Such good news about baby peeache! Can't believe the first babe of the group is here, a precious little girl. So made up for you @PeeAche2 and that you're both going to be ok xxx

Thanks to all who gave me nappy advice!! Really really helpful.

@destiEos those are just the cutest things I've ever seen. I wasn't going to buy baby shoes but I absolutely am now. Can't deal with the cuteness!!!xx

To those of you who experience baby hiccups - how often do you get them? I only started noticing them a few weeks ago and it only happened every few days. I'm now 30+4 and for the past few days I've had them every single day, and sometimes several times a day. Is that OK? It's like a rhythmic pulsating/heartbeat like feeling, every 2/3 seconds and lasting about 10 mins each time. Baby is usually pretty active during these episodes too. Just want to know if that's similar to what you all experience xx

Lostintranslatio · 21/04/2022 19:21

@Vimto1991 Yes to the burning feeling too!! In my case it isnt the skin itself (I have my bump covered in creams and oils all day 😂) but more like the tissues under the skin. Weird to explain.

Vimto1991 · 21/04/2022 19:49

@beansprout55 I’m 33+1, get them daily around three times a day. Baby gets super active same as yours, almost like they get annoyed at the hiccups. 😅

@Lostintranslatio i would guess it’s how fast the baby grows at this rate, so maybe your tissue stretching, or your baby is facing against your back and super pressing on your muscles. Could always ask your midwife for advice!

Roxystar23 · 21/04/2022 19:51

@beansprout55 - Re: baby hiccups - yep - I get exactly how you have described - same frequency - it almost feels normal now to just say to my partner “the baby has hiccups again”. Poor little thing!

Rolledthedice · 21/04/2022 19:53

@Brightsmoke yes I watched the BBC2 midwife programme and enjoyed it! It’s nice to see genuine home births on TV without all the scaremongering you see sometimes.

@PeeAche2 so pleased you’re being looked after well and on the road to recovery!

@Lostintranslatio yes my belly feels like that too. It has done for a few weeks, it’s usually more on the right side but I think it’s muscle and I put it down to everything stretching. A cold flannel seems to help!

@beansprout55 I’m 32+3 and hiccups started being almost daily around the time you mention! I used to get them in the evening especially, when laying on my side trying to fall asleep. I find them comforting as I know it means they are practising breathing and developing their lungs. I think I still get some but not as frequently as the last couple weeks.

fpeg · 21/04/2022 20:34

@beansprout55 yep she gets hiccups most days exactly as you describe and often multiple bouts. My book said it's normal for hiccups to ramp up at about 32 weeks onwards I think (can't remember exactly when I read it now but I'm pretty sure it was in the last couple of weeks).

@Brightsmoke yes I watched it too (another thing to make me cry 😂)

CurryandSnuggle · 21/04/2022 20:47

Omg @PeeAche2 I can't believe you have a real life baby now, sooo many congratulations. Sorry to read that it sounded quite traumatic, but I'm so glad you trusted your instincts and got seen. Wonderful news that she's a healthy girl, even if she will need to be in hospital for a few weeks.

CurryandSnuggle · 21/04/2022 20:48

Guys, today I had my midwife appointment to find my bump is almost on the 97th percentile. I'm slightly scared I'm going to have to birth a big baby!! My son was only 7lbs 3oz.

Also, she's head down already and quite low in the pelvis. Explains why my bladder is now the size of a pea and rather uncomfortably squashed.

4thtimethecharm · 21/04/2022 21:00

@PeeAche2, Congratulations on your little girl!! I am so relieved for you! And happy to hear you are being supported well by the hospital and your DP.

On that note, folks, I need a peptalk. I started contracting yesterday evening, then ended up in hospital this morning at 30 weeks. They are trying to buy us some time, but that may likely be only 24 hours, judged by how things are going.

I am not ready for this in the slightest. I feel completely out of my depth and am internally panicking.

Gill1983 · 21/04/2022 21:14

Hi I'm currently new to this forum, actually never been on any forum to now, I'm late to the game. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and was wondering how much weight everyone has put on at this stage?

Prema112 · 21/04/2022 22:10

@4thtimethecharm Oh gosh! You're in the best place and they will take good care of you and baby if they come early. And 30 weeks is a lot better than anything in the 20's. Thinking of you! Keep us updated and praying baby can stay in for a while longer x

Prema112 · 21/04/2022 22:11

Welcome @Gill1983! I'm 34 weeks and have gained close to 2 stone, was the same with my son I gained just over 2 stone in total he was born at 39 weeks

Prema112 · 21/04/2022 22:13

@CurryandSnuggle my baby's head was also very low in pelvis at yesterdays scan, she told me off for emptying my bladder I didn't think it mattered at this stage. She kept saying how low the head was and I wish I'd asked her if she thought labour might be sooner than I think!

RoseValleyRambles · 21/04/2022 22:13

@4thtimethecharm Hang on in there. Add others have said, 30 weeks plus gives you good odds. You are in good hands, and we're all rooting for you and little one.

RooSut25 · 21/04/2022 22:35

@4thtimethecharm - you got this, lean on all the support you have around you and just take it a day at a time!

@Gill1983 I'm at 32+5 and I've gained about 11kg so far, although it feels like it's going exponential now! None of the midwives/doctors seem at all interested in weight gain though...

unknownscot · 21/04/2022 22:42

@Gill1983

Hi I'm currently new to this forum, actually never been on any forum to now, I'm late to the game. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and was wondering how much weight everyone has put on at this stage?
I'm 31 weeks and I've put on just under 10kg
beansprout55 · 21/04/2022 22:43

@fpeg @Rolledthedice @Roxystar23 @Vimto1991 - thank you! Totally reassured and not anxious about the hiccups anymore xx I love this group...

Welcome @Gill1983! I'm 30+4 and I've gained 23 pounds, so far! - I was aiming for 25 pounds by 40 weeks but that certainly doesn't look like it's going to happen. I don't over indulge either so not sure why I haven't been able to keep my weight down. It's important to me because I'm back at work part time 6 weeks after baby arrives, so I need to be as mobile and fit as possible.

@4thtimethecharm gosh! Praying all ok. Do they know why this is happening? Baby seem ok? Thinking of you xxx

AlbatrossSociety · 21/04/2022 22:47

@4thtimethecharm completely understandable to feel panicky and not ready, it must be a huge surprise to find yourself in this position. There are no right or wrong feelings at this point, you'll just need to be riding them out. You and little one are in the best place and will be well looked after and you've got well wishes and strength coming to you from all of us! You are already just the mummy that your baby needs and you can continue to be that mummy when they join us earth side, whenever that is! Will be thinking of you.

BunBun221 · 21/04/2022 22:50

@Gill1983 I'm 31 weeks and I've only put on 1kg so far in the pregnancy... I have quite a large bump and baby is measuring a bit small but noone seems to be very worried - I'm bringing it up every appointment!

Gill1983 · 21/04/2022 22:56

Thanks everyone, I've gained almost 19 lbs and was starting to panic, hoping to gain no more than 25 lbs before the baby arrives.

@4thtimethecharm your In the best place possible, hoping baby stays in for a wee while longer.

Gill1983 · 21/04/2022 22:59

@BunBun221 as long as baby is doing well that's the main thing. I'm just one of these people that look at food and I've weight on so just trying to be extra careful and watch my weight.

Vimto1991 · 21/04/2022 23:39

@4thtimethecharm crossing my fingers and toes baby stays put a bit longer, if not, you are both in the best place for care!!
