@DaimDillyDoo my parents smoke, too. They want to give us the same Moses basket I had when I was a baby but it’s been sat in a smoke filled house for 31 years. I’m going to be googling how to get rid of smoke which may help you!! Clothes are easily washable atleast. I worry about them holding the baby with Smokey clothes. 😅

@destiEos it was thank you, I’m glad your trip went well, too!! 💐I’d like to say I’ll try and be less panicky but you’re right, they said if I have any doubt again come straight back, always best to get checked when we are this close to the end!

@PeeAche2 can’t believe we have our first mom still, I have been thinking of you all morning with a smile on my face. I bet you’re proper smitten and can’t wait to be home with her. On the bright side, atleast your maternity HAS to start now, so your employer can’t mess you around!! 😀

Flowerbug1994 · 21/04/2022 11:12

@Vimto1991 @JAR1981 this helps me a lot knowing it’s the frequency not the strength because I’ve had a lot of pushing and pressure today and little what feels like taps on my hip so this makes me feel so much better

mrkb · 21/04/2022 11:42

@Vimto1991 @Rolledthedice @PleaseSendNoodles @InvisibleDragon joining the anterior worry club! I also went into hospital yesterday evening concerned about reduced movements. I said on the phone that I can still feel her but they seem really faint/slight and the midwife said to come in anyway as that was different to before when they were much more pronounced!

Anyway, I had a strong heartbeat on Doppler and passed the Dawes redman after 12 minutes on the CTG. I did only feel one small kick in that time but the midwife said that was a normal amount for the time period and she was happy for me to go. Of course as soon as I get home I'm suddenly worried again and doubting her because I thought the guidance wasn't about quantity but about deviation from the norm? I've been toying with phoning back today because she's been quiet (as in, faint/small movements that seem different) again but at the same time it's at least a 4 hour visit because they're so busy and I don't know if I'm just overreacting! Reassuring to read that you're going all through something similar though!

Flowerbug1994 · 21/04/2022 12:07

@mrkb trust your gut and just give them a call and explain the situation. I know the 4 hours wait is off putting but needs must. Also mention to them that you are worried as you was told 1 kick in 12 minutes was fine but the guidelines state any changes.
it’s so hard getting as far in pregnancy as we are my nerves have been playing havoc with me. I feel like I don’t even know my babies pattern or if he even has a definitive pattern.
let us know how you get on

DaimDillyDoo · 21/04/2022 12:16

@Vimto1991 They just don't realise how gross it is do they? I also worry about the smoky clothes and my baby smelling of smoke!

I had my 35 week midwife appointment and I've been referred for a growth scan due to static growth... has anyone else had this before?

mrkb · 21/04/2022 12:17

Thanks @Flowerbug1994 you're right. I've had a busy morning so I'm going to drink some cold coke and see if that makes a difference in half an hour and if not I'll give them a ring!

One of the midwives yesterday asked if I had a pattern and I did say it's so hard to tell! When she's on one of my sides (I can tell usually because one side feels firmer than the other) then she definitely does have a pattern, but I had a scan a few weeks ago and she was having a proper little party but I couldn't feel a thing as she was right behind my placenta!

Vimto1991 · 21/04/2022 12:21

@mrkb welcome to the anxious placenta club! It’s so difficult when they say deviate from the norm, that’s exactly why I went in, because the movement was so different! I feel like I don’t know the pattern same as @Flowerbug1994 , and how can we know the pattern when the baby is constantly growing and changing! I think the pattern must be the times and how often the move rather than how strong the movement is - but if the placenta is acting as a padded wall it does make it so much harder to feel anything still!
go with you gut, Flower is right, 4 hours may seem like a lot but it will be a lot better than many hours of you worrying yourself to death. :( fingers crossed all is fine - especially after a reassuring Doppler. The midwife I had yesterday said a second trip they’d do an ultrasound for just to check, so hopefully they offer you this!

@DaimDillyDoo it’s so disgusting :( visiting has been difficult knowing stale smoke is in the air, and the SIDS part of my antenatal class has made me more anxious! My parents have survivors mentality that they raised me okay, but doesn’t mean I have to raise my kid around smoke! I almost don’t know how to tell them I will buy a new Moses basket, im not sure there’s any rescuing wicker! Atleast with the pram the fabric should be washable AND I have seen dedicated pram cleaning companies so may be worth a google? :)

mrkb · 21/04/2022 12:30

@Vimto1991 glad to join 😅 yes that's exactly my problem with this whole 'pattern' thing! This was actually my third visit for reduced movements since 28 weeks - they didn't offer me a scan which surprised me but they were incredibly busy yesterday (at least two women came in after me clearly in labour, and one poor woman accompanied by police who seemed to have been a victim of DV) so understandably they had a priority list. If I go back in again though I will insist on a scan as it will be my fourth (!!) time in with worries about reduced movements.

On the plus side I've just had about 2 sips of Diet Coke and, as I was typing this, I've began to get little rhythmic kicks up under my ribs. I worry when she's quiet and I'm uncomfortable when she's not 😅 I guess this is a preview of the rest of our lives as mothers...!

EarlGreywithLemon · 21/04/2022 12:52

@DaimDillyDoo yes, I had several growth scans in my previous pregnancy because of the bump measuring small/static. Always fine on scan. The first time I worried, but then I got used to it!

Try not to stress as much as possible (easier said than done). The tape measure is a very inaccurate method, and subject to human error. But I think they'd rather check out any "small" measurements rather than not. In my case I think our daughter was always in an awkward position.

Flowerbug1994 · 21/04/2022 12:53

@mrkb good to hear shes on the move. My little boy seems to just be rolling round the bottom of my stomach today ive had pretty consistent movement even though they have been light but he seems to have a few party days and then a couple of quite. Them quite does really do send my anxiety through the roof. I’ve been in twice since 27 for reduced movements the second time midwife was lovely she said we won’t shout if you come every day we see the other side when women don’t come and that put me at ease if I need to go back first time j went it was like j was wasting midwifes time.

destiEos · 21/04/2022 13:08

@mrkb - so that's what Dawes Redman is! They just told me to press the button and let them know if it turned green - I had no idea that the two were even related 🤣 Also, is agree with @Flowerbug1994 - if you're still worried then they sent you away with insufficient information to allay your anxiety, so go back and let them monitor and more importantly give you more explanations. The whole "changes in movement" is very vague!

@DaimDillyDoo do you have figures? I'm back next Wednesday to check on growth, as he's measuring small. Grown since last scan but smaller than he ought to be.. I've done a ton of reading and apparently growth spurts and stopping isn't unusual but always better that you're being monitored.

mrkb · 21/04/2022 13:35

@destiEos 😂 I don't really understand how it decides when you've passed because I was on one for nearly an hour, one for just under 30 minutes and then yesterday she was happy after 10 (though I did a quick Google when I got home and it said that they should really test for 20 even if it's gone green)! During my one yesterday baby's heartbeat was ranging from 118 up to around 170 and just one movement which seems to be quite a wide range to me but obviously something was working!

fpeg · 21/04/2022 13:49

@PeeAche2 delighted for you that baby is doing well, fingers crossed that she fights off the infection, sounds like they aren't concerned if they are happy to keep her at the hospital there though 💚

@Vimto1991 so glad you got checked out and that all is ok x

@DaimDillyDoo I would be very upset in your position, pram home with you and a wash and air down I agree.

@pregnancydiaries glad they know what the cause is now and you're on the right treatment. And yay! For your wee 😁😁

PeeAche2 · 21/04/2022 14:12

I haven't told my employer yet. I am currently off work anyway on annual leave so I haven't had to call in yet. I'm building up the courage!

Hospital are being amazing. I feel so bad about every time I doubted the NHS throughout my pregnancy.
I'm lucky because my hospital are "proper job". Biiiig hospital with lots of facilities and a dedicated neo natal unit (as long as the baby is 29 weeks>) And the midwives have been incredible.
Later today, Baby PeeAche and I will be on the ward together. I'm here now but I'm waiting for the consultant to sign her in.

There's one ward sister that I don't like because she said my "stomach type" will mean my stitches heal slowly. But I think I might just be being a bit sensitive. 😂

My husband is pacing a lot and doing pointless things like buying me magazines and randomly brushing my hair. 😂 My step kids are over the moon! My daughter is beautiful.... I love the bones of my family today.

My stitches DO hurt though!! 😵

Sorry I'm just rambling about myself. I just can't believe it!!

Octoblockisadick · 21/04/2022 14:40

Omg @PeeAche2 massive congratulations!!!! So glad you are both doing well and everything is OK now. I'm so so happy for you.

@DaimDillyDoo I agree with you, I'd feel a bit put out. Do they have a garage or something they can put the pram in if you can't take it home? A pram isn't as easy to clean all the little pieces as washing some clothes, so I would try and get it soon ish so you've got time to take it apart and put it back together when you are ready.

@Annabell1 I wasn't married when our daughter was born, all we had to do was my partner come with me to register the baby and then he had full parental rights from then. Not sure if there's anything you can do to get them parental rights before that though.

@JAR1981 I had an episode yesterday where all of a sudden my knickers felt damp and there was a small wet patch on the chair I had been sat on. I just monitored it and had nothing since so I've not done anything about it, maybe I should phone my midwife. I don't think I peed myself though because it was clear with no smell 😕.

@pregnancydiaries so glad you are feeling a bit better and they seem to have found the source of infection. Hopefully you get to go home soon.

GrowBabyGrow · 21/04/2022 14:51

@PeeAche2 oh brilliant that the two of you can be together on a ward, that's amazing💕haha bless your husband brushing your hair - is he completely in love with Baby PeeAche too?

I've also been part of the anxious about movements club recently. Went into triage last week for reduced movements and she passed the monitoring all fine but I could still barely feel her. The midwife said that when you hear a sort of woooshing sound on the monitor and their heartrate spikes that is a sign they are moving about which reassured me as I just couldn't understand how she could have passed when I still couldn't feel her!

Almost went in again today as I'd been having massive stomach moving rolls over the weekend and movements have been softer and lower down since but now she's having a party in there again. She punched my cervix earlier which really hurt!

My feet have started to swell over the course of sitting at my desk all day which is a fun new thing. My body must have decided it's not enough to have the heartburn and PGP - needed to add something else in!

fpeg · 21/04/2022 15:11

@PeeAche2 your latest update just made me cry at the thought of being so in love with your little one, pregnancy definitely sends your emotions into overdrive! Proper lump in the throat stuff 💚

EarlGreywithLemon · 21/04/2022 15:20

@PeeAche2 sounds like you're doing amazingly. A friend who had a C section said "the medicine trolley is your friend - take everything you're offered" - which sounds a good approach to me 😊
I had to insist on oramorph after my episiotomy/tear as they were trying to fob me off with paracetamol, so a bit of pushing might be needed too.

AlbatrossSociety · 21/04/2022 15:38

@PeeAche2 massive, massive congratulations and I'm so pleased you should be able to be with your little girl soon. How incredibly surreal!! I have been thinking of you both and so glad to read your updates. Also laughed at your husband brushing your hair bless him😂. I think also we are allowed to be a bit sensitive about comments about our bodies.

The midwife at my appointment told me I needed to cut down on carbs and sugars because of my baby's big tummy. I thought it was dumb because how on earth does she know how many carbs and sugars I eat? Also makes it out as though it's my fault? When my husband is 6ft 4 and I was 9lbs 6 as a baby so highly likely to be genetic.

Also in anterior placenta club and haven't identified a movement pattern. I also find it quite hard to remember when I last felt a movement but don't want to get caught up in actually trying to track. I got an absolute boot to the ribs earlier though so sometimes it's unmistakable!

annie1994 · 21/04/2022 15:43

Congratulations @PeeAche2 on the birth of your little girl! Sounds like you’ve gone through the mill a bit - wishing you and baby a speedy recovery!

@Annabell1 me and my partner aren’t married, for DS1 we just went to register his birth together and so his name is on the birth certificate which means he has parental rights I believe

MsBubbles85 · 21/04/2022 16:30

Congratulations @PeeAche2 !!! Such good news

Brightsmoke · 21/04/2022 16:42

@pregnancydiaries yay for peeing all by yourself! Glad they got to the bottom of what it was for you!

@PeeAche2 I’m so glad she’s doing so well! Hope you’re getting all the drugs.

@Vimto1991 glad everything was ok 😊

@mrkb, definitely go in if youre worried. When I went in, they said all is OK on the machine, but they trust my instinct and if I still wasn’t happy, to go back in. In fact, they even put me on the ‘yellow’ list so I had to call to say I wasn’t going in. So your midwife has definitely failed in not putting your mind at ease.

I’ve just been told about a new series, Yorkshire Midwives on call, BBC2 on Sundays. Not sure if anyone has seen it, but its all about homebirths, a bit like a modern call the midwife. Also, I know someone mentioned about the Reusable nappies in Aldi being on offer, but they also have some reusable wipes currently, £3.50 for 10 wipes and they feel pretty similar to Cheeky Wipes, so have added them to the collection for downstairs supplies.

Brightsmoke · 21/04/2022 16:42

Oh, and Aldi also have some big sized Cellular blankets in!

pregnancydiaries · 21/04/2022 17:42

@JAR1981 all ok?xx

pregnancydiaries · 21/04/2022 17:44

Thanks ladies ♥️ you da best.

@PeeAche2 loving the brushing the hair comment 😂 time to get only and ordering some tiny baby outfits, he can make himself useful by paying for those 🙄 so glad you and little precious are doing well xxx
