@destiEos they are lovely, thank you! We already have the ones our daughter had though, so sadly no excuse to buy more. On the bright side, I just checked and they’re suitable from 5lbs (2.3kg) so fingers crossed and all going well, they should work from the start.

needarainbow · 18/04/2022 21:02

@unknownscot I've had a week of that since starting the iron tablets and it is awful! Haven't had a solid movement since I started them.

Brightsmoke · 18/04/2022 21:05

@Vimto1991, it really sucks doesn't it! This is one of the major reasons that I decided to try for a home birth, I cannot go through what I did last time without my husband there. On the tankini front, what about just a normal nursing strap top that you can whip off when needed, and either bikini bottoms or normal pants?

I'm doing my birth preference chat at my 34 week app @Flowerbug1994. Midwife told me last time I saw her that it would be then, and to start thinking about what I wanted

Hope you're feeling better now @pregnancydiaries, and you can get some answers tomorrow.

@JAR1981 happy birthday! I hope you've had a lovely day :) I've still got 5 weeks at work, 23 shifts left 😬

@PeeAche2 they don't recommend counting kicks anymore, they now call it kicks count (if I remember correctly from my son). As long as you know the general pattern, and baby sticks to it, everything is all fine 😊

I've got a pedicure booked for Thursday and I'm so excited! I just want short toe nails again 😅. Walked my dog earlier, and baby is so low I had to turn around after 10 mins as was so uncomfortable :(

Hope everyone is ok and had a good long weekend

Flowerbug1994 · 18/04/2022 21:08

@Brightsmoke I’ll bear thag in mind as am 32+3 now and my 34 app is next Thursday at 33+6. I more or less know what I would like to happen in certain situations and I’ve got a phone app with my consultant tomorrow so I’ll ask her some questions but I feel like she may say we’ll discuss this after I have my second scan at 34 weeks to see if he’s still breech.

destiEos · 18/04/2022 21:19

@Vimto1991 that one's lovely, I did like their stripey one too. I'm sure there'll be some extra wear post-birth as well. Very good luck for tomorrow, hope everything goes smoothly 💕

@EarlGreywithLemon I'm trying very hard not to buy them myself!

@Brightsmoke I feel you, the lady asked me how short I wanted them and I was worried she thought I usually wore them as long as they are. I had to explain that I couldn't actually reach them anymore and in fact the paint was optional, just please trim them! Since remembered that you need to remove polish before surgery so pretty very translucent pink will have to be removed in a couple of weeks anyway 😢

Vimto1991 · 18/04/2022 21:22

@Brightsmoke yeah I did consider a home birth as they can’t make DH leave, we will be extra careful and cross fingers!!

@destiEos yeah I’m hoping to get plenty of use, I want to go swimming to help with my PGP and have nothing that fits anyway!!

I just had the baby kick my ribs so hard I… heard it… not sure how I feel about that 😅🙈 I love feeling kicks but hearing it 😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 18/04/2022 21:35

@destiEos I didn’t have to remove my polish last time I had surgery (2018). The machines have now got better although gel still needs to be removed. Some places still require it, hopefully yours won’t be one of them.

PeeAche2 · 19/04/2022 07:36

Should I call my midwife or go to hospital? Last night at 3.30am, the baby woke me with a series of hard and jerky movements. They were incredibly strong, I could literally feel her feet through my skin. She was kicking them out 1-2-1-2 like bicycling.

I thought she seemed "panicked" and I know that sounds silly.

This morning she's deadly quiet but she's often v quiet at this time. Should I wait until later and see if she's normal again at her normal times? I feel really worried by this nighttime episode.

pregnancydiaries · 19/04/2022 07:46

@PeeAche2 maybe try the cold water/left hand side method see if she gets moving and if not and you're still concerned go and get checked out. There's no point in panicking xxx

MrsTwentyNine · 19/04/2022 07:57

Hi @PeeAche2 I think anything you feel instinctually isn't right warrants a phone call to the MW. It is most likely nothing at all but at least you will feel reassured. Stress at this time is probably worse than anything!

Sorry been AWOL ladies and thank you to all those who replied to my question a while ago (there has been so much chat since I forget what I even asked 🤣)

I read that someone is worried their bubba is >95th centile and no GD, that's me too. He was well over the 110th with my second MW tape measurement - measuring 35cm at 31 weeks as opposed to the average "31cm". Booked ourselves a private scan. They scanned me after the first time and he was in the 80th centile and MW wanted to wait till 34 to see if any options need discussing...weirdly I'm not worried though? Big babies sleep better right ?? Ha! Let's not think of the logistics around their entrance though... Confused

Letsbekindplease · 19/04/2022 07:57

Yeah have a big drink of cold water and lay on your side. Wait to see how movements are but if you are concerned call them. They are there to support and help and they will be more than happy to see you. Even if it is just for reassurance

PeeAche2 · 19/04/2022 08:13

I think I do instinctively feel that something wasn't normal about last night. The midwives will never believe me but I'm going to phone anyway.

Vimto1991 · 19/04/2022 08:30

@PeeAche2
Mines had odd really active movements, I got worried maybe they have the umbilical cord around their neck and their choking, then I remembered they can’t even breath yet, and maybe we’re just struggling to get comfy or hyper after I ate something sugary.
I’d say if your baby doesn’t seem right on the next pattern you’d expect to phone triage for advice - or your midwife if their useful. Mine would just tell me to go to triage, not that I have a current midwife. But also, if your instinct is saying somethings off - just go for it and ask, better safe than sorry. Triage is 24/7 so don’t need to wait on your midwife either.

Prema112 · 19/04/2022 08:43

@pregnancydiaries Thinking of you and hope progress is made today

@PeeAche2 best to ring if you're worried, they can advise you

Anyone else felt an increase in Braxton Hicks? I was woken up a lot last night by them with mild period pain. I think they generally do increase, they're quite uncomfortable though!

FINALLY brought all our newborn stuff home and have washed it and made space in a drawer for it. Don't remember it all being this tiny 🥰 So if he's early at least I can dress him (he'll have no nappy on or place to sleep yet though!)

PeeAche2 · 19/04/2022 09:21

Midwife says it's probably nothing. Maybe she was turning all the way around. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Vimto1991 · 19/04/2022 10:04

@Prema112 I’ve not had any yet that I’m aware of 🙈 slightly worryingly. Same with any nipple leaks!

@PeeAche2 that’s good to hear! I think general consensus is any movement is good movement?

Prema112 · 19/04/2022 10:06

@Vimto1991 Don't worry at all I had absolutely none with my first, had no idea what people were going on about! My uterus seems very keen for some practise this time round though 😂

Prema112 · 19/04/2022 10:08

@PeeAche2 Good to hear, hope she's moving around a bit more now to give you some reassurance x

Flowerbug1994 · 19/04/2022 10:17

@Prema112 I thought I was getting BH until o googled that you don’t get them in your back and this was like period pain in my back on off the past few days hoping it’s just back ache.

@PeeAche2 a couple of weeks ago I had about 10 seconds of jogging movements one night that scared the absolute shit out of me it was honestly like he was trying to get out through my skin but all has been in since I’ve had scans and stuff and all fine. If you still don’t feel right after a couple more hours just go to triage always trust your gut no one knows your body or your baby like you xxx

EarlGreywithLemon · 19/04/2022 11:19

@Vimto1991 I never had Braxton Hicks in my first pregnancy, and haven’t had them so far (32 weeks). I don’t think everyone gets them!

Flowerbug1994 · 19/04/2022 11:36

@EarlGreywithLemon I’ve been getting asked from quite early on if I have been having bract on hicks and people seem surprised when I haven’t. My mum also said she never got them. I think your right certain people get certain things that others don’t.

JAR1981 · 19/04/2022 11:54

Thanks for all the birthday love ladies! I had a nice day, the weather was still soooo good. Although having to watch my husband eat rare steak and chips with a glass of red, followed by cheesecake with drunken cherries whilst I had a GD and pregnancy-friendly superfood salad was actual torture. We may not go out for dinner again until this baby is born! 🤣

@PeeAche2 good to hear the midwife gave you some reassurance. I tend to get something like this every 3-4 days now. It literally feels like the baby is trying to break out of there, takes my breath away.

@pregnancydiaries hope you make progress today.

I’m having fun trying to get hold of the hospital or my midwife today. I was told when I got diagnosed with GD that I would pass to the specialist team and all my ANC appointments and growth scans were cancelled. They booked me in for this Thursday which I was told would take 3 hours, I’d see the OB, dietician, diabetes doctor and midwife, and have a scan. However just before the bank Hol weekend I got a text from the hospital saying it has been switched to a telephone appointment. And of course now I can’t get hold of them. Ugh.

Vimto1991 · 19/04/2022 12:00

Just had my growth scan and all looks normal which is a relief! My thyroid is perfect for third trimester, too so not having to change that dose. :)
My baby is measuring a 8% femur, everything else is so mismatched 41% head, 83% belly! Consultant wasn’t phased. I asked about the small femur and she said they are the hardest part to measure as baby can be all squished, and she wouldn’t worry that it’s so low compared to everything else, it’s reassuring but also still wondering why it’s so low. The person scanning seem to get a good measurement of the femur (they struggled with their head as they were right in my pelvis head facing away which is the right position so yay!!)

@JAR1981
That’s just awful, how can they all be telephone based? Is there a way to get in contact with the midwives at the hospital or the antenatal clinic themselves?

Rolledthedice · 19/04/2022 12:06

@pregnancydiaries I hope you are doing ok and you are getting the consultant support you need. x

For those on iron supplements - I swear by milled flaxseed on porridge in the morning! It’s like magic, always gets things moving for me. That and plenty of water throughout the day.

@Brightsmoke I’m also still planning a home birth (although as a FTM). I was wondering what to wear during labour, I guess the tankini options work well if we have a birth pool. I feel like I should be doing hypnobirthing practice every day to prepare myself, but instead I’m enjoying doing non-baby stuff while I still can! 😅

@Vimto1991 good luck with your growth scan today!

Rolledthedice · 19/04/2022 12:13

Also happy belated birthday @JAR1981!! 🥳What beautiful weather you had!

Oh @Vimto1991 I didn’t see your post, but glad everything is ok! Your measurements sound a bit like mine tbh. I have a scan today as the femur was very small on a private scan a couple weeks ago. It does sound like overall combined measurements are the thing they look at the most. Plus scanning isn’t an exact science.
