@needarainbow Rib burn is the absolute worst. I get it at night if I don't switch sides every couple of hours. And when I walk for more than 3 minutes.

Anyone found any fixes?

PeeAche2 · 13/04/2022 11:24

@Vimto1991 I have a similar issue. I notified HR in December, February, March and again last week that I intend to take maternity leave but they have ignored all of my correspondence.

I go on annual leave in 2 weeks and then on May 23rd, I expect to begin receiving maternity pay. But I have not had any written confirmation of my pay or entitlement and it's been almost 5 months. (They have had my MATB1 months ago too)

I don't know what to do. It's stressing me out!

needarainbow · 13/04/2022 11:36

@RoseValleyRambles no fixes that I've found but moaning about it every 15mins so DH knows I'm suffering seems to take the edge off 😂

Vimto1991 · 13/04/2022 12:23

@PeeAche2 are you able to schedule a call with your HR? I haven’t had anything written but they have entered a years worth of maternity leave in my calendar so presume they have sorted it, but it’s on the old date of June 8th rather than the new May 23rd. Do you get paid maternity leave from your company or just SMP? If it’s just SMP I wonder if there’s a way to claim or check through the government website as there must be someone to contact outside your organisation (almost like you are self employed or no longer work, as you only need to do 25 weeks work to be entitled to SMP).

PeeAche2 · 13/04/2022 13:23

@Vimto1991 I get extra maternity from my company. Although this issue is just the tip of the iceberg. They have been treating me terribly since I announced my pregnancy.

I have a horrible feeling that they're trying to make me quit rather than pay me my mat, which is why they haven't approved my request or confirmed my entitlement.

PeeAche2 · 13/04/2022 13:24

I've tried calling and I've emailed 6 times. Yesterday I sent a printed letter to our HR Director via recorded post. It gave a timeline of events and an indication that I plan to raise a grievance if he doesn't reply within 1 week. It's such a nightmare.

Vimto1991 · 13/04/2022 13:29

@PeeAche2 I honestly can’t believe what you are being put through and think of men were to get pregnant the world would be so so different. 🤦‍♀️ It’s just stress not needed at all, I hope they actually consider the grievance knowing they will 100% lose in a tribunal and actually acknowledge you.
My HR are just ditzy, although my department is under staffed and nothing has been done to help so all my colleagues keep telling me how stressed they are going to be when I leave. Shouldn’t made to feel guilty, should be happy I’m pregnant!!

PeeAche2 · 13/04/2022 14:04

I'm sick to death of obsessing over the work thing. I'm trying to lose myself in baby stuff but it's all I can think about. It's so stressful.

I have a copy of the Emma's Diary mini mag that came in a bag of swag from the midwives office. It suggests having more than one hospital bag - a labour bag and an after birth bag.

What does everyone think to this?

EarlGreywithLemon · 13/04/2022 14:30

@PeeAche2 I had a separate bag for me plus husband (cabin size wheely bag) and the changing bag with clothes for the baby. I also had a small shoulder bag with snacks, a bottle of water, ipad, charger, etc. It worked well.
I had the baby’s hat and the baby grow and vest I wanted her to wear first in a sandwich bag and told husband where to find it. That was helpful as he was asked to grab the hat as we were being taken to theatre. It was the first time it felt real that she was coming. She was in a (hospital) towel and her hat for a bit, and we didn’t put her in her clothes until we’d been taken to recovery.

destiEos · 13/04/2022 16:45

32 week scan today and although he looks fine and weighs in healthy, he's measuring just below 5th percentile for humerus and femur :( Worrying enough that I get another scan in 2 weeks to check in and see how he's doing, and now scaring the living shit out of me as they kindly told me that he has no other markers for dwarfism (thanks for mentioning it though, that's put me right at ease!) and Google throws up Down's, Patau and those things..Sad also abdominal circumference is a bit high, but below 97th percentile.

Ugh, what a shit day at the hospital :'(

GD apparently is fine and they're very happy with how I'm managing my blood glucose, looks like I may stay off meds for that at least.

Booked in for elective on the 25th May, but due to all the above, subject to change - feeling rubbish now..

4thtimethecharm · 13/04/2022 17:00

This may seem silly, but I was getting really confused about all the clothes terminology (romper, baby gro, onesie, sleep suit, etc.) as a FTM. Then I found this helpful website: themummybubble.co.uk/types-of-baby-clothes/

So if you are similarly looking at these hospital bag instructions with an 'what on earth is this item?' feeling, perhaps it helps.

Prema112 · 13/04/2022 17:01

@Vimto1991 Did baby start moving more? I can't tell if mine is moving less or it's just that last week I was off work doing nothing so noticed him more! He's definitely still moving but the movements aren't as big, I think. Ergh. Don't know whether to call. I'm worried they will say come in then I'll be there for hours... Of course as I write this he's decided to start moving lots and has hiccups. Does anyone else's baby have hiccups like 3x plus a day?! I'm sure my son didn't have so many!

Prema112 · 13/04/2022 17:03

@destiEos So sorry to hear your scan has got you a bit worried. I know it's super hard but try not to google, if they had been really concerned I hope they would have told you

Vimto1991 · 13/04/2022 17:08

@Prema112 yeah was a lot quieter in movements this morning - moving but reduced. By lunch they were rolling and kicking, I’ve also had hiccups this afternoon. I genuinely think they get annoyed with hiccups as it makes them wriggle around.
Yesterday they had three lots of hiccups in one day! I read online that’s a really good developmental sign, also I get hiccups lots so maybe they take after me!
Since they are moving throughout the day I’m not worried enough to call in yet, if you do feel like somethings up call them up for peace of mind, but it may just be their bum is against your belly and you can’t feel as many kicks at the moment? Hiccuping is a good sign! But, always pop to the hospital if you’re concerned. :)

fpeg · 13/04/2022 17:10

@destiEos it's possible that they've just measured them on a bit of an angle as well which would shorten them. Easy to say but try not to stress, you'll have a gorgeous baby very soon 💚

@Prema112 we had 5 episodes in one day the other day, some days I don't notice any and some days I notice loads!

I definitely agree re: noticing more when you're off work!

@4thtimethecharm really useful thanks ☺️

fpeg · 13/04/2022 17:13

@Prema112 and no sooner have I replied to you on that than she's started up with another round of hiccups 😂

PeeAche2 · 13/04/2022 17:13

Oh @destiEos ❤️ I'm thinking of you and your little baby. Try not to get too worried. It's very very difficult to get accurate measurements in utero, as they get bigger and bigger. I know this isn't going to be of much comfort but if there aren't other markers, that's a good sign. And I agree with Prema... step away from the Google.Xxx

Prema112 · 13/04/2022 18:26

@fpeg & @Vimto1991 I'm glad I'm not the only one with a madly hiccuping baby!

JAR1981 · 13/04/2022 22:03

@destiEos sorry to hear you’ve had a crappy scan. It’s so hard not to worry and Google but the good thing is that they’ve booked you in for another check in two weeks to monitor closely. My friend had this last year with her hard-fought ivf baby and was referred to a Fetal medicine specialist at Oxford. All was fine however, he felt that too many scans had been done too close together to get a true reflection of growth. She now has a gorgeous little boy who will turn one on Friday.

And thank you so much for all the GD advice. I’d seen the GD uk website and joined the Facebook group so started a lot of the diet advice over the weekend. The only thing I’m finding hard at the min is pairing snacks that are not too fatty. I’m eating a lot of nuts, yogurt and cream cheese!

For those that were chatting a page or so back about movements, mine have definitely changed in the past week or so (so around 32 weeks). It’s like the baby has all of a sudden run out of space to kick etc so I am just getting loads of squirming and pushing now. Fine by me but the ones in the ribs or groin can proper hurt!

Rolledthedice · 14/04/2022 01:46

@destiEos try not to worry and definitely step away from Dr Google! I got myself in a right tizzy over short femur measurements recently - completely understand how the panic sets in. I also found some threads on mumsnet that were very reassuring! Plenty of women with a similar predicament who went on to have healthy, in-proportion babies. Apparently it’s hard to measure those lengths accurately and if you and your partner are slim builds or not overly tall then that can obviously influence baby’s size.

Rolledthedice · 14/04/2022 01:48

@Prema112 yes to hiccuping babies! Mine seems to do it mostly as night when I’m trying to fall asleep.

Brightsmoke · 14/04/2022 05:38

@4thtimethecharm I call what they call a onesie, a vest, of which you can get long and short sleeve versions. Then a onesie is a baby grow. Just to throw another thing into the equation, sorry 🙈

@destiEos sorry to hear about your scan. Hopefully you'll find out in a couple of weeks that it's nothing 🤞🏻

I'm planning on working up until the week of my due date. I'm now working from home twice a week, I only work 4 day weeks currently anyway. But I will up WFH to 3 or 4 if I need to closer to the time. I had a month of AL before my son last time, then he was 15 days late, and 6 weeks off with nothing to do, I was bored 😂

No hiccups here at all, or at least not that I've felt. I don't think my son had many/any either

Prema112 · 14/04/2022 07:52

Dreamed I had the baby! She was a girl not a boy and within a day she was crawling and talking 😂 I remember thinking 'I must update the mumsnet group!'
