Welcome @Magik8ball 🙂

@Magik8ball Welcome! Congratulations on your upcoming little boy!

@Beth262 Oh I'm so sorry lovely, what a horrible shock :( At least you are in the right place and can get the steroids your baby needs. Do they think they'll be able to stop labour and prolong pregnancy? Keeping everything crossed for you and your little one xx

Thank you😊 I'm excited but also really impatient😤😂

madeleine85 · 26/05/2022 15:41

@Beth262 hope you are ok! You’re in the right place, hoping they can somehow postpone labour, even if just a few days. Give those steroids time to take effect. How many weeks are you now? Sending big hugs your way x

ToCaden · 26/05/2022 15:52

@Delight12 glad your little girl is doing ok despite her suprise appearance. I didn't expect the first of our group to come so soon.

Beth262 · 26/05/2022 16:21

@CoalCraft Thank you 😘 They've said if it starts they're just going to let it take its course and not try to stop...

@madeleine85 Thank you. I'm 29+3 today. Currently the plan is for the next lot of steroids in 24 hours but they have said they'll move to 12 hours if there is any change and also magnesium and antibiotics then too.

@Beth262 crikey so sorry for the stress this must be causing - but you’re definitely in the right place and they will look after you and little one if they do make an appearance! You’ve got this, you’ll be fine! Good luck, keep us posted xx

I hope all goes well and works out in the end :). I'm 29+2, when was your original due date?

PopGoesBang · 26/05/2022 16:59

Crikey, turning into a busy baby thread! @Beth262 I hope baby boy stays put long enough to benefit from the steroids etc. and that you are doing as well as you can.
We really are all being kept on our toes and truly reminded we are not in control of any of this!

Welcome @Magik8ball. Glad you've found us.

@CoalCraft don't know about you but I was quite happy to be told baby was 'average' I'm not sure I'm doing any thing else averagely so glad baby is 🤣

madeleine85 · 26/05/2022 18:10

I’m trying to remember who it was, but someone mentioned here that they thought they had contractions as part of stomach issues, and I felt the same after seriously sore contractions after eating ice cream (lactose issues). My doctor confirmed today at a check up if you eat something that really irritates your intestines they press on your uterus and cause contractions, coupled with dehydration from 💩, which also causes contractions. So mystery solved and I’m feeling a lot better! She also recommended 6-8 weeks post pardum to get a coil fitted and said she would induce at 39 weeks earliest for my age and health, unless something goes wrong medically, so august 23 may be the date. It’s getting a bit real now!

Mufflette · 26/05/2022 18:36

Good luck @Beth262

Mufflette · 26/05/2022 18:37

Oh that posted randomly, I meant to say more than good luck! It sounds like you're as prepared as you can be for an early appearance but I hope he stays put a little longer!

squatternutbosh12 · 26/05/2022 18:51

@Magik8ball welcome to the thread and congrats! I’m having a little boy too, and am 29 weeks tomorrow so v similar to you :) How’ve you been finding things, all going ok so far?

Beth262 · 26/05/2022 20:32

Thank you @squatternutbosh12 @Magik8ball @PopGoesBang and @Mufflette 😘

@Magik8ball my original due date is meant to be 8th of August and like you I am also expecting a little boy!

I'm bleeding a little more heavily now and had a few clots (sorry for the TMI!) so who knows what's going on. As you all say though, I'm in the right place x

OP posts:
CoalCraft · 26/05/2022 21:05

@PopGoesBang Oh yes I'm legit thrilled she's average. Proud even. She was literally right on the line. Exceptionally average, if you will!

@madeleine85 Oh, that was me! It's nice to hear my pet theory supported by someone who actually knows what they're talking about. In my case it was a tummy bug in this pregnancy and chronic severe constipation last time, but both things that cause the intestines to swell and inflame a bit I guess.

So glad you're feeling better, though sympathies of this means you have to be stricter about dairy!

CoalCraft · 26/05/2022 21:15

@Beth262 Strength to you, am really wishing you all the best. If a virtual handhold is any comfort at all, it's yours!

PopGoesBang · 26/05/2022 21:16

@Beth262 sending all the love your way. I hope you get some reassurances, and things calm down for the night for you. Has anyone said anything to give you an idea of what they are thinking will happen?

@CoalCraft exceptionally average is indeed a cause for celebrations! You can remind her of this when she's older 🤣

Are you all doing middle names? Dp doesn't have one, he doesn't see the point. I didn't really think I felt strongly on it, but kinda feel there should be one (I have two!) weirdly before we knew it was a girl we'd agreed on boys middle names. Dp has said I can pick whatever. But I'm not sure I want to if he doesn't feel strongly on having one - if that makes sense, don't want to feel like I forced it on him.

Oh awesome, when's your due date?☺️
Well, I'm delighted that I'm way out of the first trimester that's for sure 😄
Everything seems to be going well
So far I don't suffer from heartburn, any swelling well I don't suffer from anything really BUT I can't really walk or move around for long without pain thanks to what I believe is SPD
How has everything been for you?

madeleine85 · 26/05/2022 22:39

@Beth262 that sounds scary, but thankfully you're being properly monitored. Hoping whatever they can give you including IV fluids help slow down what your body is trying to do to get the little guy out. Really glad you are a little further along, almost 30 weeks is still statistically so much better than 24, especially with steroids for the lungs. Sending all the good luck your way x

@CoalCraft I thought it was you, and yes, my doctor has confirmed your theory! I know i'm not good with dairy, but being pregnant, occasionally like to test my limits with ice cream. I'll be sticking to ice lollies from now on :)

@Magik8ball do you have one of the belly bands to take the pressure off your back/bump? I think i've seen some people having some SPD relief success with that. I cannot wait till week 37-39 (hopefully) to take pressure off my body a bit!

I've been meaning to actually look into those! Thanks for the reminder as I can't even bend down at all some days

Mine was the 8th but changed to 9th so pretty much the same!
You are definitely in the right place and in good hands, you got this

squatternutbosh12 · 27/05/2022 07:02

@Magik8ball ugh SPD is the worst! I had it start suddenly around 17 weeks, then it thankfully disappeared after a couple of weeks. I learnt that there was much less pain if I kept both legs together as much as poss eg when turning in bed or getting into/out of chairs beds, using a ‘swivelling’ action swinging both legs together for any turning/moving, and weirdly I also found clenching my bum gently helped! I then had no spd pain for ages until a random recurrence a few weeks ago, but after implementing the previous measures ASAP it did go away again and it’s fine now- touch wood! Sympathies though because it really does bloody hurt doesn’t it 😱
Most hospitals have a women’s physio dept that can help as well so do give your midwife a ring if it isn’t settling.
Other than that I’ve had loads of vomiting and not able to eat much! But I do think there’s some improvement over the past couple of weeks, with the vomiting if not the eating, so fingers crossed. ☺️ My due date is the 12th really but having a section which is (provisionally) booked for the 4th!

squatternutbosh12 · 27/05/2022 07:10

@Beth262 will be thinking of you, hoping everything is ok! Sending virtual hugs!

Cakecakecheese · 27/05/2022 09:19

@PopGoesBang we're going to give baby a middle name because I want him to have my late dad's name but it's not a name I'd want to give a child as a first name!
