@stimpyyouidiot I have a Doppler and get nothing from it, except stress 🤦‍♀️. My doctor instantly gets a heartbeat. Hang on in there for some movements!

HaresHoping · 04/04/2022 06:36

Congratulations @BlueSky57 💕 that is fantastic news! Xx

SoOverThisCrap · 04/04/2022 08:39

Morning ladies, how are we all today? I've woken up suffering with my sinuses. They've been playing up off and off since I first found out I was pregnant. In fact it was one of the first symptoms that made me take a test.

My head and nostrils feel like they're about to explode. I'm going to put my head over a bowl of steam in a bit to try and alleviate the congestion. Is anyone else suffering from this? I'm also a migraine sufferer and I had to come off all my daily prescribed meds for it as soon as I found out I was expecting.

I'm also in so much pain with my lower back, especially on the left side and all down my left butt cheek (I'm so sexy! 🤣)

I have my midwife appointment at 3pm so I'm hoping to feel better by then (I don't drive so it'll be a 30 mins walk) and that she'll have some advice. Oh, and I had my usual first thing bout of throwing up as well.

I'm falling apart, lol! I feel like I'm always moaning 😂🤣🤦‍♀️

SoOverThisCrap · 04/04/2022 08:41

@stimpyyouidiot I used a Doppler when I was pregnant with my DD and I found it to be quite anxiety inducing. It always took ages to find it (and sometimes I couldn't) and then I could never be sure if it was my own heartbeat that I was hearing 😂

Carebear99 · 04/04/2022 08:47

@SoOverThisCrap
@stimpyyouidiot

I can easily find the heartbeat on the doppler, it helps with my anxiety. I'm still convinced I am not going to have a successful pregnancy and healthy baby.

I kept having scans which was costing me a fortune. When I feel the baby move I don't intend to use it

Celyn22 · 04/04/2022 08:48

@SoOverThisCrap I also have tight sinuses and I have had a bit of difficulty being able to inhale fully. Dr Internet said that 40% of pregnant women experience rhinitis, so I feel I fall into this category. I am also prone to headaches but I haven’t had any for a couple of weeks not but they were quite bad at the beginning. I’m struggling to hydrate enough each day and finding my hands and lips are getting dry - although I do work outside mostly so that also plays into it.

Thanks to the few of you sharing your experiences with the Doppler... I was wondering about getting one but seeing that a lot of you have had troubles with it has put me off and put my mind at ease!

TotoAnnihiliation · 04/04/2022 09:29

@SoOverThisCrap I have pain my back and butt too!

Another night of horrendous sleep, that makes 4 in a row. Couldn't get to sleep and couldn't get comfortable. Now I have a banging headache. I've been reluctant to take paracetamol so far but I think I need it today.

EverydayIsPJday · 04/04/2022 09:41

Morning all..sorry to hear of sinus nightmares. I'm still full of head cold today so DH did the nursery run..I'm feeling totally useless.

Also didn't get any sleep last night which was a mistake as I ended up down the Vinted rabbit hole again and fell in love with a little bundle of girl clothes for sale at a great price..I've had two nub specialists review my 12 wk scan and both said >90% certain we are having a girl...I'm so tempted to buy it (I'm fussy about colours for a girl as I don't like 'pink pink') but I'm starting to think 3 days of mucus in my head is making me go doo-lally. These nub specialists can still be wrong, right?

stimpyyouidiot · 04/04/2022 09:51

I kept having SUCH weird dreams last night! Proper nightmare situation type ones - must have woken 3 times last night. I remember having really vivid dreams with dd so I'm taking this as a good sign to ease my anxiety :)

annlee3817 · 04/04/2022 09:52

Also a rubbish night's sleep with lower back pain, shattered today, but back to work, thankfully just two days then holiday on Wednesday and Friday.

Can recommend menthol crystals for sinus pain, they reduce any swelling that might be there, I had them when I had a sinus infection and they provided a lot of relief, I've got sinus pain at the moment, but think it's the tail end of covid rather than pregnancy.

@EverydayIsPJday I'm obsessed with Vinted, can't leave it alone 🤣 got loads of maternity clothes

Celyn22 · 04/04/2022 09:55

@stimpyyouidiot me too! My dreams are quite intense at the moment. Last night they were challenging and I was offering sanctuary to someone I hold dear to my heart, who was being persecuted because he was a threat to the ‘powers that be’! It was quite scary at times.

stimpyyouidiot · 04/04/2022 10:00

So bizarre isn't it!! @Celyn22 they just appear so real, I must have woken up 4-5 times last night with a gasp!

Peauela · 04/04/2022 11:28

Hi all,

I also use a Doppler at home and find the heartbeat with ease now even though initially it was hard (I started at 10 weeks).

I had my GP appointment today and unfortunately I have mastitis and need to be on antibiotics for a week 🥺 I'm going back for blood tests and glucose test tomorrow morning. We also did a smear test just to make sure all is good down there.

TotoAnnihiliation · 04/04/2022 11:37

@EverydayIsPJday your vinted rabbit hole made me smile. I did exactly the same and fell in love with some newborn babygrows that have sheep on them. Fortunately, sheep are fairly gender neutral 🤣 I'm finding out what we are having on Thursday.

EverydayIsPJday · 04/04/2022 11:48

It's terrible isn't it @TotoAnnihiliation I've become abit addicted 🤦 I must have looked at this bundle 10x now. The logical side of me obviously says no...that and the fact my DH will be like 🤨 when a huge bag of clothes arrives 🤣 but I'm going to be annoyed in five weeks when it's inevitably gone. Sigh. First world problems and all that ☺️

I love it! I've bought a fair amount of maternity/nursing clothes from there. I plan to buy a nice posh maternity frock on there later this year when I go to a wedding. I'm resisting the temptation for now as I don't know how big I'll be in June.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a little while. It’s been a really rough few days. I’ll spare you the details, but my 11-year-old boxer-bloodhound mix started showing signs of not feeling well on Friday morning and then deteriorated extremely quickly and passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. There was nothing we could do to help her (we took her to the vet on Friday and they gave us some pain pills and said to touch base on Monday—I don’t think anyone expected that things would get so bad so fast). It was brutal.
For context, she and I were extremely close. She slept between my husband and me every night (she was really big, so she shared my pillow and she spooned me), was incredibly protective of me (especially since I’ve become pregnant), and has been with me through the hardest moments of my life.
I know this might seem ridiculous if you’re not a pet person or haven’t experienced an incredibly close bond with a pet, but my husband and I are both grieving pretty hard. Our house feels empty without her, we feel broken, and our other dog (who is 10 and has never had a day without her) is very confused and keeps walking around looking for her and howling. It’s heartbreaking and I'm constantly fighting to not burst into tears.
On one hand I know I need to be able to process this and let it out, but on the other hand I’m scared to really let myself go there because I worry what that will do to my baby. The extreme stress leading up to it and the emotional distress of now can’t be good for her. So on top of all of that, I feel guilty to both of them. Guilty to my lost pup for feeling like I’m trying to block her out when she meant the absolute world to me and guilty that I might be causing my baby harm when I do let myself go there.
I know it’ll get easier in time, but it’s just really difficult right now.

@IzzyLeigh oh no I am SO sorry to hear that 😩😞!! We've got 3 dogs - a nearly 11, a 9 and nearly 7 year old and I can't even bear the thought of when the time comes as we've had them since babies and they've all grown up together and are like a little gang (we lost my mum's cat just before Christmas very suddenly, sounds similar time frame to your beautiful dog) and it's just beyond devastating. There aren't any words any of us can say to make this any better, just know we're thinking of you and you can message me anytime you need if you want to chat about it - more than happy to look at pics and reminisce if it helps! Sending lots of love xxx

TotoAnnihiliation · 04/04/2022 14:09

@IzzyLeigh I am so sorry. I understand the loss of a beloved pet. My cat was my first born and she died only aged 7 from a genetic condition that we didn't know about. We took comfort from her death being quick and most importantly that we gave he the best life for 7 years. Take time to grieve. Your feelings are valid.

stimpyyouidiot · 04/04/2022 14:43

@IzzyLeigh I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my frenchie when I was pregnant with dd and I was broken hearted. It is truly awful. We got a lovely portrait of him done and put it up in our house so I see him every day 💜

Em85kk · 04/04/2022 15:58

@IzzyLeigh so sorry for you, they’re a part of the family and it’s a massive loss. Hope you’re ok x

@SoOverThisCrap are we the same person?! My sinuses were hurting this morning too, constantly feel stuffy and my nose and head is sore. Feels like someone has punched me in the face! I get migraines too and they’ve been so bad this pregnancy. I get pain in the top of my back (I think from big boobs!) which brings on a migraine, so I rest which brings on the sciatica on my right side. That started when I had bad PGP/SPD last time. It’s all fun and games!

madeleine85 · 04/04/2022 16:14

After another night of cramps/back pain/more weird dreams I think i've realised that my bump is just suddenly growing massive amounts each night. Terrifying! Up till now i've been able to SQUEEZE into my pre maternity clothes, but I think that will be stopping very soon (aka today). I have one in person meeting a week, and I was set on keeping in non pregnancy clothes till week 20, but at week 19-1 I think I have been beaten. I just ordered the bellaband thing on amazon to see if I can keep my regular jeans going a bit longer.

Re. the doppler, I thought I could find the heartbeat easily with one last pregnancy, but I wrote emails to the "bump" during pregnancy and after them to send to her one day, and had a wee look earlier and I was bemoaning the fact that I could only find it some of the time. This one definitely seems harder to find though. I did love writing emails to my DD, especially when she was little and I was on mat leave. I plan to set up an email address and send them all so she can have them one day. I should start doing the same for this boy now! Just a little tip of something that kind of made me feel connected to the baby when they are just "there" and driving you insane both inside and outside as a newborn :).

@SoOverThisCrap i've also had sciatica for weeks now (assuming that is what you've got rn). In a weird twist, it got really bad as my body was just getting bigger, but now that the weight seems to be going on a bump rather than just me, it seems to be easing a bit. I guess i've also been running less and walking more. I am thinking of starting pregnancy yoga to keep helping it. For nose issues, i'm taking hayfever pills a fair bit as for me, it is the season. Hope something can help make you feel better.

@IzzyLeigh sending all the hugs your way. I joke that my dog is my first born/fur child, but he really is my everything. That is a huge void, and you are understandably grieving. Please take some time and be kind to yourself. I'm so sorry for your loss x

MedbN · 04/04/2022 17:23

@BlueSky57 my due date is also September 18th! But my 20 week scan isn't until May 3rd which feels so much further away because it starts with May rather than April which I know is silly.

HaresHoping · 04/04/2022 17:36

@IzzyLeigh I am so so sorry for your loss 😭 it must be heartbreaking for you. Sending massive squishy hugs xxxxx

BlueSky57 · 04/04/2022 17:41

Oo first person I’ve found with same due date @MedbN Grin Yes I get what you mean but it’ll just be a few days and at mine I won’t quite be 20 weeks so don’t know if that would affect their findings? Confused

I hate to be such a worrier but after our lovely day at the 16 week gender scan yesterday I’m now worried we’ve told people but the sonographer might have made a mistake Blush Either sex was fine with us but now we’ve told people it’s a girl I hope they weren’t wrong! We got a picture of between the baby’s legs & I couldn’t see a visible penis but who knows?? Hmm I hate how I always find something to stress about. It’s just my personality too, nothing to do with pregnancy!
