@stimpyyouidiot I'm so pleased your result came back ok in the end 😊

@Carebear99 I'm 15 weeks 1 day today and my 20week scan isn't until 6th May. It feels too long to wait so I've gone ahead and booked a private one for next Sunday. I'll be just over 16 weeks by then so should also find out the gender. The place I'd go to has stopped doing pregnancy scans since covid so I have to travel a bit further to the private clinic where I'm getting it done.

madeleine85 · 01/04/2022 19:05

@TotoAnnihiliation my DD came at 35 weeks, but labour started 31/32 weeks. I just had a checkup and we caught it in time to delay it a bit. I think that is why they are closely monitoring this time. Though this time I plan not to do a bootcamp and a hike in 40c weather when in my third trimester lol.

@annlee3817 I feel like a new person today after not taking the progesterone last night. I think i'm going to hold off for 2 weeks, until my next cervical measurement, which is also the 20 week scan, so my husband gets to join and we can both talk to the consultant and decide how to go forward with this. Fortunately he is really supportive of my wishes, and i'm lucky we can talk about it all. Ultimately I wouldn't do anything to endanger a pregnancy, but I really would like to avoid hormone changes if possible, as apparently they really screw with me.

@SoOverThisCrap i'm sorry that is the worst. Feels like school exam results all over again. Just got to your update. Yesss for low risk. Sorry it took so long though!! Nice Friday update for you though!

TotoAnnihiliation · 01/04/2022 19:42

I'm feeling a bit deflated today. I was overweight when starting the pregnancy and made the mistake of weighing myself. I've put on a stone since my booking appointment - this is despite barely eating for 3 months and no longer liking chocolate.

Em85kk · 01/04/2022 19:58

@TotoAnnihiliation good insulation for baby? Ah I know it’s rubbish, you’ve just got to go with it. I’m still holding on to the 3 stone I gained with my first (4 years ago!!). Starting this pregnancy being so overweight was a worry, you’ve just got to think it’ll all be worth it in the end. Im planning to lose it all after this one, I hope….if I can keep motivated. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

madeleine85 · 01/04/2022 20:05

@TotoAnnihiliation oh no, that is a rotten feeling. I am 10lbs up starting this pregnancy from my last. Had a checkup yesterday and the nurse announced my weight which honestly I didn't want to know. Wasn't as bad as I thought, but wasn't far off. I'm asking them to not tell me unless it is a health risk bad level and i'll avert my eyes to the scale going forward. Plenty of time to get healthy post pregnancy, and for those who choose to breastfeed, thats an extra easy way to lose a bit extra weight. I found with my DD, no matter how little I ate, I still gained. That is just pregnancy. 5 more months to treat yourself and focus on some self care (I understand that feeling though) x

ShiningStarz · 01/04/2022 20:08

Fab @SoOverThisCrap no more waiting for The post and I hope now you can have a restful weekend

ShiningStarz · 01/04/2022 20:11

I have one like this that I got for the last pregnancy. It's big but brilliant!! Used in different ways and also used when feeding or folding baby (breast and bottle fed). I got it off Amazon and can't remember how much I paid. It's fab. The cover comes off and can be washed etc

TotoAnnihiliation · 01/04/2022 20:27

Thank you @Em85kk and @madeleine85 - I'm going to try getting out and walking a bit more. I don't want to lose weight but think I need to stay fit.

stimpyyouidiot · 01/04/2022 20:55

Honestly @TotoAnnihiliation I'm already struggling with my body image because I'm getting so thick around the middle and my legs and double chin are growing rapidly! I was obese before and I'm trying to go with it but it is really hard. I'm covered in stretch marks from my thighs up to my stomach/lower back so at least that can't get much worse I guess.

TotoAnnihiliation · 01/04/2022 21:01

I'm sorry that you are struggling too @stimpyyouidiot - I'm struggled with my body image pre pregnancy too.

Poppypip1 · 01/04/2022 21:19

@SoOverThisCrap sorry you've had a stressful wait for your results, I'm pleased you finally got them and that it was good news!

@TotoAnnihiliation I know how you feel, I started off overweight too and seem to be piling it on despite trying to "be good" I don't think you can really control it when pregnant. Body needs to gain weight, a lot of that will be baby, placenta and fluid remember.

I've been for my 16 week appointment today and had the glucose test, got to listen in to the heartbeat ❤️ that was so lovely, I had that moment at first where she couldn't find it but then it came on so loud and strong and I was flooded with relief.
I think I've been feeling the faintest of flutters now and then, so that's really exciting. I can't wait until I'm at the stage where you can feel the baby every day!

stimpyyouidiot · 01/04/2022 21:20

Me too. I look at pictures of lovely pregnant women on Instagram and when looking for clothes on clothes websites and I look like a blob and I'm just embarrassed haha. I couldn't take photos of myself like they all do looking lovely.

HaresHoping · 02/04/2022 06:08

Now @stimpyyouidiot I am certain you don't look like a blob! I'm obese too (BMI is 43 but frankly I think BMI is BS anyway) and I've certainly struggled with body image all my life as I've done every diet going and always put the weight and more back on afterwards. I'm determined now that I know baby is ok to take as many pics of my bump as I like, even if I don't look like one of the models in the photos.

I totally get you, it's hard because the world wants to make women feel bad about themselves so that they buy more stuff, and it's a powerful force! But I would gently encourage you to take one or two bump snaps in an outfit you like every now and then. You might be really glad you did one day and plus, you should celebrate the beautiful and fabulous woman you are right now! Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Does anyone follow @fatpositivefertility on Instagram? They celebrate bigger mums to be and it always makes me feel a bit more seen and like I'm not the only pregnant person who isn't a size 10 😂♥️

TotoAnnihiliation · 02/04/2022 07:56

Thank you @HaresHoping you have started my day on a positive note. I will have a look at the Instagram account you have recommended.

I have no bump pictures yet, one I feel too fat and two, I'm still scared of something going wrong with this pregnancy.

Has anyone else got pregnancy insomnia? I'm so tired all the time!

HaresHoping · 02/04/2022 08:31

I'm so pleased @TotoAnnihiliation ☺️ let's start the weekend off right! 💕

I totally understand that, it can sort of feel like jinxing it if we take pics can't it? I only started a couple of weeks ago to take the odd picture, it was before we knew that our test results were okay but by that point I had realised I wanted to remember this pregnancy either way. But it's a hugely personal thing and I changed my mind with it even from day to day on what was best to do. God it's hard work being pregnant!

I am tired all the time but seem to be getting a fairly decent amount of sleep. I was really struggling with sleep earlier on but lately I've been so tired I feel like I could sleep on a clothes line! That said last night was my first night with my pregnancy pillow and it will take a bit of getting used to, I had to change position a few times in the night but did manage to get to sleep again fairly quickly.

I can't remember now who was asking about bbhugme but I would recommend - it's really adaptable and feels lovely to cuddle! Made it much easier for me to sleep on my side. I am yet to master putting it into a doughnut shape so I can sleep on my front, but I might play around with it a bit more today...

Is your insomnia due to physical symptoms or more worry do you think @TotoAnnihiliation?

BlueSky57 · 02/04/2022 08:59

Hi everyone, haven’t been here for ages. After being giving new tablets for my hyperemesis I was finally able to go back to work, so have been really busy.

Tomorrow I’ll be 16 weeks so I have my private gender scan booked for the afternoon. As the sickness has stopped (except for odd morning), I’m really anxious though that something has gone wrong. Has anyone else felt like this?

I’m paranoid as I don’t have a bump at all so feel as though what if the baby stopped growing?

SoOverThisCrap · 02/04/2022 09:06

I'm knackered pretty much all the time. I work from home and pretty much every afternoon I have a two hour nap. I slept pretty well last night, it was my turn to get up with DD this morning and she didn't wake up until 7.45 and I already feel knackered! 🤪

I'm still feeling queasy every day and throw up first thing most mornings so I guess that doesn't help.

My pregnancy pillow arrives today from Amazon so I'll be interested to see how I get on with that tonight.

TotoAnnihiliation · 02/04/2022 09:31

@HaresHoping I never considered that my insomnia might be anxiety related - it makes sense though. I seem to sleep for half an hour then my eyes ping open and I'm awake, tossing and turning.

I'm not getting on too well with my pregnancy pillow yet. I've yet to find out my perfect position. I guess it would be easier if I was getting a good chunk of sleep.

I'm at work this morning and wishing I could drink coffee. I haven't drank a single cup since suspecting I was pregnant at the end of December. I think it would have a negative effect on me if I introduced it now.

HaresHoping · 02/04/2022 10:48

@TotoAnnihiliation I've been pretty much the same with coffee too and when I have had the odd cup I've felt totally wired 😂 probably best to leave it alone like you say. It's so tough not getting sleep, I feel for you. I wonder if it's something your midwife could help to advise on a bit?

I'm definitely sticking with afternoon naps as much as I can, I'm lucky in that I WFH and have no other kids to look after so can indulge a little bit!

HaresHoping · 02/04/2022 10:51

I felt just as worried before the 12 week scan because I'd been lucky enough to have very few symptoms which by that point had completely gone, and was so worried there would be something wrong. I think it's totally normal to worry but also totally normal for symptoms to die down in the second trimester, it's so tricky. Hope you can get scanned soon and that it helps to put your mind at rest 💕
HaresHoping · 02/04/2022 10:52

Sorry just reread that your scan is this afternoon - hope it goes really well ☺️

BlueSky57 · 02/04/2022 11:35

Thanks @HaresHoping. My scan is tomorrow when I’ll be 16 weeks exactly Smile My 12 week scan was a blur & I couldn’t really enjoy it as I was so unwell but I know I was anxious beforehand. I know that after this 16 week scan I’ll probably keep worrying until the 20 week one too Confused! I don’t think I’ll be happy until baby is in my arms in all honesty!

Poppypip1 · 02/04/2022 11:35

I've just had a call from the hospital, I have gestational diabetes. I had it in my last pregnancy but that was almost 20 years ago so I've forgotten all the rules. Feel a bit flat, although I was expecting it, to have it confirmed.

stimpyyouidiot · 02/04/2022 11:58

Thank you @HaresHoping ! I'm trying to enjoy it but just ignore the feelings I have about the way I look! I have a bmi of 33 - I'll have to work hard after to lose some and just sort myself out. I know now isn't the time to diet so just trying to live with it :)

TotoAnnihiliation · 02/04/2022 12:02

@HaresHoping good shout on talking to the midwife. I'll mention it at my next appointment.

@Poppypip1 did you have any symptoms for your GD? I've got a glucose test booked in but not until June. I'm concerned as I'm overweight and my dad has diabetes.
