Hiya all, lovely to see we're all having our 20 week scans!

I wondered if anyone suffered from intrusive thoughts/ OCD? I have had OCD since I was 2/3 but diagnosed at 11. I'm having CBT and have to do exposure response therapy. I have to write down my thought and read it out loud until my anxiety decreases by 50%. I have to do this everyday. I'm so nervous to start. My intrusive thought is around death and loss of baby.. 😞 hoping to get some encouragement to start the ERT! It's gonna be tough but I know it'll be worth it x

ChinChilly · 05/03/2022 18:20

@KizboBaggins generally I think I've been alot mellower during pregnancy but occasionally i do get a massive rage, like coming home from the hospital on Thursday the traffic was horrendous and people kept cutting in the queues and I was absolutely raging I felt like I could of ripped someones head off 🤣

@paintfairy thanks for the reassurance, I've looked at the stuff again with calmer eyes and it's not actually that bad measurements wise, legs are a little behind her abdominal and head circumstance but not as much as I thought, so you saying its normal at this stage has helped!!

As for movements my plates is anterior and high so I've felt one or 2 kicks and a little bit of a rolling round sensation and I'm 21 weeks definitely not consistent pattern yet.

I've been looking at pushchairs and omg I'm so confused I've narrowed it down to two, the silver cross coast and icandy peach found some pretty good deals on both so about the same price but I'm just torn! OH has given my free range because in his words he hasn't got a clue what he's looking at 🤣

paintfairy · 05/03/2022 18:51

@ChinChilly I actually had the legs measured the other week, and belly. The legs were quite behind percentile wise. Yesterday they were actually ahead of the belly! 🤣 So a lot can change in a short time. Also remember the measurements aren't exact and can be slightly out when they take them.

KizboBaggins · 05/03/2022 18:59

@ChinChilly same! That's what's weird, I've been living life through rose tinted glasses since about 10 weeks (before that there was too much nausea to even have emotions). But this week I've turned into a walking talking arsehole. Hoping to get back some of that pregnancy chill next week after the scan.

@Capricorn8990 i have no experience with this but just wanted to say that that sounds really really tough and I hope you get the oomph you need to start the ERT, and that it helps. It sounds very intense and a little scary. You're one brave person!

ChinChilly · 05/03/2022 20:18

@paintfairy ahh that's good to hear! I'm going back a week monday so hopefully get a clearer picture. I feel abit bad because I wrote an angry email to PALS, I've had a response from them but now I feel abit guilty🤦🏻‍♀️

@KizboBaggins you've hit the nail on the head there 🤣🤣 I feel conned by all those people who said the second trimester was amazing and as for pregnancy glow.. what's that? I look like a permanent fat out of breath zombie

Coco9910 · 05/03/2022 21:30

I had a private scan today and found out we are expecting a girl! We are over the moon and so excited! We only decided last week to find out so it was a big surprise to us but we’re made up 🥰 they told me I have an anterior placenta and it is low lying. I’ve made the mistake of googling that and worried myself, but I’m just going to see what they say at my 20 week scan next week and just take it from there and try not to worry about it!

@Capricorn8990 yes I have ocd! Was diagnosed with it about 10 years ago but I never had any treatment for it and kinda learnt to handle it myself but it does flare up when I’m anxious and worried. It sounds really tough what you are doing, but will be so worth it! You should be really proud of yourself for taking that step! 💕

KizboBaggins · 05/03/2022 21:46

@Coco9910 congratulations! There's sooo many girls due on this thread! I'm convinced ours is a boy but we'll find out on Monday - cannot wait.

I think I read somewhere that 90% of low lying placentas move later in pregnancy, but I'm sure that stat doesn't help you right now! I'd be exactly the same as you if I'd had that news; Google-induced panicking! When is your 20 week scan?

Coco9910 · 05/03/2022 23:06

@KizboBaggins yes very girl heavy! 😂 I felt like I was having a girl but told myself boy as everyone I know has had a boy 😂 how exciting for Monday!! Yeah I’ve read that 90% of the time it moves upwards so hopefully that is what happens! My 20 week scan is on Friday so I don’t have too long to wait thankfully. I’m glad I found out about it today as it’s given me time to think about it and go to my scan with any questions I might have!

CaptainCarp · 06/03/2022 00:01

Glad people have managed to find this new thread!

DP is convinced we are having a girl as my belly is "all front & not hips" according to him. For some reason I think are having a boy.
In our case only time (4 months Wink) will tell Grin

Actually its quite scary to think that, by due date, in 4 months I'll have a baby!

Im starting to feel more definite kicks now & DP managed to feel 1 last night but apparently it was a little bump for him. I felt like baby was practicing kickboxing 😂

Anyone picked out any names yet?
I've tried flicking through a couple of lists but nothings jumping out at me.

OP posts:
missv556 · 06/03/2022 07:05

@CaptainCarp 4 months sounds like nothing doesn't it?! I'm 21 weeks so there's now officially less time left than I've completed and that's scary to me.
I had 2 names picked for a boy and once I found out at 16 weeks I was having a boy I started using the one name so pretty much its locked in. The other name will be his middle name. I find boy names much harder, literally looked through hundreds and it was really only that one that grabbed me so I know what you mean

KizboBaggins · 06/03/2022 07:36

@missv556 I actually find boys names easier than girls! That doesn't mean we've been able to decide on any though 🙄 feels like such a huge responsibility picking a name! Have you told anyone the name yet? I'm nervous because every time I mention a name at least one person is like "Oh I knew a XX, they were a right idiot" or something similar lol. Maybe my social circle just know too many idiots...

@CaptainCarp you're so strong not finding out the sex haha I'm a little envious because I think it's a lot of fun waiting until the end, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Is this your first DC? It's my first and the thought of actually having a real life baby in 4.5 months still doesn't compute in my brain lol

It's exciting isn't it when your partner feels the kicks! DH felt his first on Wednesday and he was surprised how strong they are. Sometimes they feel to me like when you go over a bump in a car and your stomach goes into your mouth lol.

ShellUK09 · 06/03/2022 08:30

It is so tough deciding on a name, we had more ideas about boy names but then found out we are having a girl. We keep going back to one so for now we have one front runner. I can't believe how quick the time is going either, 4 months to go! I look visibly pregnant now and it all feels much more real. Been on annual leave this week and we had aimed to have started shopping for practical baby stuff but all we have done is browse and feel overwhelmed at the choice of prams and car seats! If anyone has any recommendations for a lightweight pram that will fold down small and fit in a small car boot I'd be grateful! I keep looking at online4baby and comparing the different travel systems but it feels hard to decide when you can't see them in the flesh. We did look in John Lewis but I think we will buy somewhere else online as it is less pricey. Going to spend a long time writing lists and looking at reviews to try to figure it all out.

annie1994 · 06/03/2022 08:34

We have another little boy due (one of the few boys from this thread it seems!)

We struggle soooo much with boys name as the only one we really loved we’ve used for DS1 - he is Freddie. The only other boy name we’ve agreed on this time is George so we think we will use that.

I know this will be my last child so slightly sad I won’t have a little girl and especially as I won’t be carrying on the family name (all the females on my mums side have the same name and it’s my middle name). Probably a bit trivial but it does upset me!! Hopefully one of my brothers will have a girl and carry on the name. I find girls names so much easier 😂

AppleTree16 · 06/03/2022 08:42

@annie1994 have you prepared yourself for the constant Harry Potter references with Fred and George? I’d love a Ginny (if we had a girl) but my OH said no 😭

Coco9910 · 06/03/2022 08:50

@ShellUK09 I saw the below pram, a Babyzen Yoyo, in John Lewis and it looks ideal if you need a pram that will fold up small! I have a Toyota Aygo and the boot on that is tiny so we had written off finding a pram for that car but this one would easily fit in! We haven’t decided on a pram yet but this looks good!

annie1994 · 06/03/2022 08:53

@AppleTree16 haha! The annoying thing is I absolutely love Harry Potter and everyone knows that. But I’m really not choosing those names on purpose 😂 it’s the only thing that puts me off using the name George!!

KizboBaggins · 06/03/2022 09:21

@annie1994 I think Freddie and George are absolutely adorable names! And let's be honest, people are going to make references no matter what names we choose, and there are a lot worse characters to be referred to than Fred and George Weasley. Everybody loves them!

ShellUK09 · 06/03/2022 09:58

@Coco9910 thanks, next time I am in John Lewis I will have a look at that one! This is the one I've been looking at online, I quite like the idea of having two car seats included so it's all sorted for a good few years: www.online4baby.com/joie-versatrax-i-snug-every-stage-travel-system-with-carrycot-bundle-deep-sea

paintfairy · 06/03/2022 10:05

@annie1994 the Harry Potter thing will eventually fizzle out though. I am not that familiar with it and would have had no idea! 🤣

I thought boys names were harder. Not many I like. But in a way that might have made it easier. I've no clue on girls names and so many don't even work with our surname. She might be nameless for a while! 🤣

ChinChilly · 06/03/2022 10:30

@ShellUK09 I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the whole pushchair thing confusing, i do exactly the same go onto the laptop with intentions of deciding get totally overwhelmed and confused and give up! Online4baby do some great bundles though and baby planet have some good deals on atm with the emmas diary discount.

As for fitting pushchairs in car boots, I'm sure the boots on cars are getting smaller.. we've got an 8 year old fiesta and a new focus and the boot on the fiesta is way bigger even though the car is smaller 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think we're 90% sure on a name, i find girls names easier than boys

Lollyh88 · 06/03/2022 12:05

Hi All,

Just joining on thread, I am due 20th July and found out on Friday were having a boy. This is my second baby with a 16 year age gap. 🙈🤣

Honeypie21 · 06/03/2022 20:08

@Lollyh88 Congrats! This is my first and we found out we're expecting a girl. Our due date is 14th July!

I've been told I have low papp-a and just wondered if anyone had been told the same or had any experience of this?x

DayToNight · 06/03/2022 20:40

@Honeypie21 I had low Papp-A at my 12 week bloods. I'm on aspirin now. Had a scan last week and by was on the average growth, but they said we wouldn't be able to see any issues until the later extra scans.

Honeypie21 · 06/03/2022 20:58

@DayToNight Thanks for the reply, pretty much same as us then. She is measuring up fine on the growth charts atm but I guess time will tell! Then again, it could also mean nothing at all and we both pull through with gorgeous healthy babies! Fingers crossed x

Capricorn8990 · 06/03/2022 21:49

@KizboBaggins thank you so much for the encouragement ❤️ I'm getting myself revved up to do it!

@Coco9910 it's nice to meet someone else with OCD! Thank you for sharing. I'm proud of how far I've come so far so just gonna keep going. Also congrats on finding out on the sex of your baby! Also my sister had a low lying anterior placenta so please don't worry too much and step away from Google - all will be okay xxx
