@ChinChilly Oh no that's such a shame! Sorry you have had an awful scan experience. You should be made to feel special at the scan and not an inconvenience, and he definitely shouldn't have left you feeling confused. Praying the next one is better for you. Is there no way you could be seen sooner by someone else if you rang to complain about him?

Purple1181 · 03/03/2022 22:54

@strawberrysummer19 just to warn you, it might be worth checking with the sonography dept about your scan going ahead on Tues. Mine was cancelled last week as I tested positive - I still haven’t had a negative test a week later and they said I’ll need one before I can go in :(

strawberrysummer19 · 03/03/2022 23:00

@Purple1181 I tested positive on Wednesday so I will need a negative Monday and Tuesday won't I. Fingers crossed but if not my midwife did say to rearrange which will be soooo annoying having to wait, bearing in mind it's nice and on time 20wks exactly.

I don't many people that get negatives say 5
My finance was day 7 when he had it a month or so ago and everyone I know is more 8-10

X

strawberrysummer19 · 03/03/2022 23:05

@ChinChilly oh what a horrible experience! You poor thing. My friend had one similar and she cried when she left. I was really hoping I didn't get him !
He didn't talk to her when he was scanning, when he did talk the life he did, she struggled to understand him so she didn't ask any questions no scan pic etc
I didn't get him and got a lovely lady. She was brilliant.
The ones before my 12 wks scan were all private but sooooo friendly professional and made a fuss, exactly what I think should happen
The only one that wasn't was window to
The womb - wasn't a bad experience just very clinical and quiet but still ok. X

Purple1181 · 03/03/2022 23:33

@strawberrysummer19 so frustrating isn’t it! My day 5 was an instant black line. I’m day 7 now and it’s not as heavy anymore but still definitely positive!
It’s looking like a 2 week delay on my scan because they’re so busy but they did say they’d PPE up and do it if I was close to the ‘cut off’. I’m just gutted it moved as I had childcare arranged for the last one and now it looks like I’m going alone

ChinChilly · 04/03/2022 07:39

@ShellUK09 I did that about calling and having a moan but it took me an hour and half to get through to the radiology department a few weeks ago to chase the date for yesterdays scan.

@strawberrysummer19 the two sentances he did mutter to me I had to get him to repeat I think the combination of masks and looking at the wall instead of me when he was talking probably didn't help. My 12 weeks scan there was lovely I'm hoping it was just a case of bad staffing yesterday and next time will be different 😬

paintfairy · 04/03/2022 08:44

Congratulations to everyone with their 20 week scans so far. 🎉 Can I ask whether you need a full bladder? No one has said? 🤔

@ChinChilly that's awful! Definitely complain. Like it's not stressful enough? It is fairly common for the legs to be behind at this stage though. I guess you'll find out more next time but that's really not helpful for now. I hope you don't get him!
@strawberrysummer19 sorry to hear about covid. How frustrating. @Fizzybubblegumbottles oh no, not you too.
@missv556 I originally bought some jeggings as maternity jeans fall down. But yes they are tight now! 🤦‍♀️

AppleTree16 · 04/03/2022 09:35

@paintfairy I didn’t and letter specifically said not to. I wouldn’t worry too much as if you do need a full bladder they will give you some water and tell you sit in reception for a bit (you actually only need about 200ml not a pint for it to work).

@ChinChilly I would definitely raise a complaint. The antenatal clinic I was at had all the stats from Jan on the wall (how many patients, good, bad etc, number of complaints, so they do track this kind of thing).

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 09:56

Just had a call from the midwife re having covid
Daily calls for 2 weeks
Anyway - she said I should be feeling movement
Said I have little bits but she said even with anterior placenta I should be able to feel them with my gestation (19+3) when I've looked it up and on here some people don't feel anything until later so just a bit worrying
It has been bothering me as thought irks be having more obvious ones but really trying to be be so worried ! X roll on to my 20wk scan if I can go x

paintfairy · 04/03/2022 12:45

@AppleTree16 I didn't get a letter as it was just booked at my 12 week scan. But I did think it shouldn't matter by now. However I didn't want to assume!

Coco9910 · 04/03/2022 13:10

@strawberrysummer19 is it your first pregnancy? I’m 19+1 and I think I’ve felt a couple of little movements but nothing I’m sure on. Strange that they said that as I’m sure they usually say not to worry until later on.

I’ve had a stitch type pain in my side all morning. Feels like a stitch / trapped wind but nothing is helping and a stressful morning at work has had my in tears. So thankful I have next week off and got a scan tomorrow, just hope everything’s okay with baby!

annie1994 · 04/03/2022 13:43

I had covid a couple weeks ago and never told my midwife… didn’t know they’d give you blood thinning injections and daily calls!? I assumed she wouldn’t really care 😂 hope all those who have it don’t get too poorly with it.

@Coco9910 I always find round ligament pain feels like a really bad stitch so could be that? It should go when you rest so maybe keep an eye

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 14:37

@Coco9910 it's my 2nd but she is almost 11 so some time ago now and feels like it's all new again !! I do remember what movements feel like with that said - I don't remember when but I do remember being certain it was movement unlike now

I know I was a bit miffed she made it sound like it could be a problem when I have read that it isn't!

I have had ligament pain and sometimes does feel like a stitch

I haven't ever heard of anything else with daily calls and injections - must be my area ?! Also given an oxygen metre too! X

Coco9910 · 04/03/2022 15:37

@annie1994 yes perhaps it’s that! If it’s the baby having a growth spurt I will embrace it and stop moaning 😅

@strawberrysummer19 oh yes bet it’s hard to remember how things felt then in your first pregnancy! I was going to ask at my 20 week scan about it but not sure if sonographers are the right people to ask? Might text my midwife if I’m still not sure if I’ve feeling much by 22 weeks.

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 15:45

@Coco9910 my sonographer at the private scan told me that I may not be feeling many movements due to my placenta so it's always worth an ask. I'm sure by then you will have movement - for me too. I have my 20wks scan on Tuesday so I'll also ask there and update you x

annie1994 · 04/03/2022 17:26

@Coco9910 @strawberrysummer19 for my first pregnancy I had a low anterior placenta and I can’t remember exactly when it was but it was around 21 or even 22 weeks when I started feeling his kicks!

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 18:22

@annie1994 oh wow really? That's reassuring to know x

NamelessBaby1 · 04/03/2022 18:22

Lol @annie1994, I thought I was being a bit blasé but you beat even me re COVID! Only reason I contacted my midwife is she made a point of telling me to do that at my booking appointment if I tested positive; wouldn't have occurred to me otherwise! Did you have many symptoms and did it last long?

annie1994 · 04/03/2022 20:24

@strawberrysummer19 yeh it was definitely after my 20 week scan, that was my first as well so I didn’t really know what I was feeling for!

@NamelessBaby1 haha telling the midwife genuinely never crossed my mind! They never said anything about Covid to me previously. If I had I been really poorly, I would have but it was just like a mild flu for 2 or 3 days (slight fever, body aches, bit of a cough etc). I didn't get a negative result till day 10 though which was annoying!

paintfairy · 04/03/2022 22:17

I had my 20 week scan today (19+5). Never been so nervous in my life! But they said all was OK. 🥳 They also confirmed girl (we had a private gender scan at 17 weeks, but I wasn't sure if to believe it 🤣).

And I can confirm I didn't need a full bladder. They never mentioned it.

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 22:17

@paintfairy yay congratulations! Wonderful news and confirmation of a girl yay xx

strawberrysummer19 · 04/03/2022 22:20

@annie1994 that's good to know
Hopefully I'll be feeling lots more soon

My midwife really drummed it into me that I needed to call if I got covid

So tonight, 1st time for me - I've been having slight little shooting pains feels around my groin area ?! Bump feels achey and stitch like feelings but it this little pulls/little bursts of a sting type sensations is the only way I can describe it?!

paintfairy · 05/03/2022 09:24

@strawberrysummer19 ligament pain i think? My thighs also weirdly hurt these days. And my hips. I feel like I have walked miles or something all the time. 🤣

strawberrysummer19 · 05/03/2022 09:43

@paintfairy I thought that it just felt very achey but we have moved house so maybe it's that!
No aches today - just full of covid 😷so feel rotten.
Those shooting pains were really low down x

KizboBaggins · 05/03/2022 12:54

I managed to lose the new thread but glad to be back! Thought it seemed very quiet 😂

@paintfairy I have random thigh pain too!

Congratulations to everyone who has had their 20 week scan! Mine is on Monday and I'm so excited! It will be DHs first scan too so he's also very excited.

I have however been an absolute raging monster this week. For no discernible reason I have been agitated, angry, irritable and frankly haven't been able to trust myself to be nice to anyone. If poor DH even looks at me vaguely weirdly I'm fuming. Anyone else experienced this or am I just a horrible person? 😞
