I have a slightly low Papp-a I have to have another scan at 23 weeks to check growth and make sure blood flow between placenta and baby is ok. Unless you have the blood test to check for downs they never know about the papp-a as it doesn't give any definite conclusions about an issue can just highlight a potential risk. I am taking 150g of aspirin every night as advised by midwife but baby is growing fine so far, he is on 50th percentile for height, weight and head.

MollyRover · 07/03/2022 05:09

Just had a positive COVID test at 22 weeks. What do I do? Double vaccinated and boosted thankfully but I'm worried about consequences for baby and there's very little information available.

NamelessBaby1 · 07/03/2022 05:24

@MollyRover there are a few of us in the same boat at the moment. My midwife had told me to contact her if that happened, so I'd suggest that as a first point of call and they will keep you right as to whether you need to be doing anything (I was just told to keep hydrated and keep moving, others have been given blood thinning injections). Hope you don't get it too badly x

Thanks for the reassurance x. I'll contact midwives, asap. Really hope it's just hydration and movement, not bloodthinners. Sharing a bed with DC who is also positive as DH is negative so far and want to keep it that way if possible, but DC is a world class snorer and is partial to a night light so between that and pregnancy not sure how much rest I'm getting Confused

missv556 · 07/03/2022 07:59

@KizboBaggins I have told my mum, sister and 2 friends. Sister hates it, mum not so keen, friends love it. It bothered me at first that it wasn't liked but now I give zero fucks to be quite honest. My uterus, my child, I'll name him what I want! Only 2 people get a say at the end of the day and we both like the name so that's his name. If anyone has a problem tough shit 🙃 get used to it or do one. Rant over lol just find it annoying when people think they have any kind of input, you didn't make the kid so why do you think your opinion matters even one bit.

ChinChilly · 07/03/2022 08:21

@missv556 I don't think you'll ever please everyone when it comes to names, everyone seems to have an opinion 🙄 why can't people just say 'that's a lovely name' even if they don't mean it.

I bit the bullet and preordered our pushchair last night, I ordered this one in the end for anybody remotely interested, i thought it was a pretty good deal.

KizboBaggins · 07/03/2022 08:29

@missv556 love that 😂 I find it weird that people give their opinion, if someone told me their chosen name of their unborn child regardless of what I thought of it I would say that it's lovely. Cause like you said it's absolutely no business of anyone else!

@ChinChilly that looks like an amazing pram set. Is it one of those that does everything from newborn carrier to car travel to toddler buggy etc.? My mum has got us a silver cross second hand pram but I don't think it has a travel bit so I'm guessing I'll have to get a separate one. Man it's so complicated I bet we end up wasting money on stuff...

I have my 20 week scan this afternoon. I haven't really been anxious about it but last night I felt as though the baby was barely kicking at all. Usually late evening they love a good kick but didn't real feel much last night... just hoping I'm overthinking it! At least I'll be seeing someone today and can't wait to find out what we're having

NamelessBaby1 · 07/03/2022 09:07

@MollyRover yeah it's the lack of sleep more than anything causing me to take some time off work for it; I was up coughing a bit, but now last night (hence the 5.30am post) was due to heartburn - the joys of pregnancy haha.

@KizboBaggins hope your scan goes well. I was really nervous for mine as I didn't think I'd been feeling much, but my husband saw baby moving on screen when I thought I could feel a wee bit of something so that was very reassuring and now I know exactly what to be feeling!

ChinChilly · 07/03/2022 09:49

@KizboBaggins yeah birth to 4 years old apparently it can also be converted into a double if we end up with a small age gap between babies. It is all really complicated.. definitely going to end up wasting money on stuff 🤣 I've been trying not to buy all the cute clothes in tiny size and spread it out abit but it's all so cute in newborn size.
Good luck with your scan... sure everything will be fine. I'm finding movements are still sporadic she was going mad while I was in the bath yesterday morning then I didn't feel much for the rest of the day

MollyRover · 07/03/2022 10:03

@NamelessBaby1 yes definitely taking some days off work- I've been joking for 2 years that I'd love the break, be careful what you wish for!! They'll have to get used to me being gone from June so they might as well have a taster now Grin. I think quite a few are out of action with COVID now so I'm not the only unlucky one.

Get well soon and fingers crossed for both of us and our bumps xx

Danani · 07/03/2022 10:58

Morning all! :)

@KizboBaggins good luck with the scan today! It will be wonderful, and so exciting you get to find out the baby's gender!

How is everyone else feeling at the start of this week? Hope those of you with COVID are not too poorly and you feel back to normal in no time!

I'm exactly 19 weeks today! It feels SO odd! It feels kinda ahead...but also not really. Don't know if that makes any sense whatsoever!

I've been experiencing these...very light tiny twitches in my belly for about a week now. They're not regular by no means, more like every other day or every 2 days that I notice them, and I mainly feel them when I lay down on my back. I'm still not super convinced it's baby, but...it probably is, right? Definitely not kicks, and they're so tiny, like if I'm not paying attention I might not notice. I really want this to be baby girl. My belly has also grown in the past couple of weeks but is still fairly small and not obvious. Anyone else in kind of the same boat as me?

strawberrysummer19 · 07/03/2022 11:46

@Danani how exciting - it's nice to get to this stage isn't it!!
I have my 20wk scan tomorrow and I honestly cannot wait! I always get nervous and desperate for reassurance but this one I feel is a huge milestone and after having covid I just want to make sure she is ok! I still don't feel well
But the hospital said they will still see me - so that's good.
I had nice little movements last night but it was so gentle still - but then nothing obvious this morning.
Xx

strawberrysummer19 · 07/03/2022 11:54

@KizboBaggins yay to this afternoons scan
Mine is tomorrow and i can't wait for some reassurance!
Looking forward to your update xx

NamelessBaby1 · 07/03/2022 13:42

@Danani that definitely sounds like you're feeling your baby now, it always seems to be when I like down I feel it more too! It's picked up a lot in the last couple of weeks too which is lovely. I'm a bit overweight in the first place, but my belly is definitely way more pronounced now (at 21 weeks), the last few weeks have really started to make a big difference I think.

All the best for the scan @strawberrysummer19 , hope little one behaves and you see everything you need to .

Coco9910 · 07/03/2022 14:30

@missv556 are you going with the name you shared on the last thread that your sister didn’t like? I loved that name! My mum asked me if we would be keeping the name a secret and I said we probably won’t decide for definite until we meet her, but I do a still think I wouldn’t tell anyone if we did pick just 1 name as people are so keen to share their opinions!! I’ve noticed that with a lot of stuff through my pregnancy 😅

@Danani I reckon it will be your little girl! Did they tell you where your placenta is at your last scan? I’ve just found out I have an anterior placenta so I might not feel much movement until a bit later on, but I do feel her a bit when I’m lay back / lay down.

I’m quite excited for my 20 week scan, I’m usually so nervous, but seeing the baby over the weekend happily wriggling around has reassured me! I just hope everything is growing okay with her. I’m quite keen to find out how she’s measuring!

strawberrysummer19 · 07/03/2022 14:37

Can anyone help with something?

I've ran out of vitd I usually take these but have just realised the pregnancy vits I have also have vit d in

When we were doing ivf I was advised to take the higher amount and have just carried on

What does everyone else take vitamin wise at this stage ?

strawberrysummer19 · 07/03/2022 14:39

Pics won't attach
Vit d 1000ui
I normally take

But Tesco pregnancy vits have 10ug in them

X

Danani · 07/03/2022 15:42

@strawberrysummer19 I had to take the higher dose vit D about 2 years ago when a routine blood test showed I was deficient! They were prescribed by my GP, so I couldn't have just bought them over the counter and were for a course of...don't remember...maybe a month? After that she said to just buy some over the counter and take them daily.
However, with pregnancy, I've been taking pregnancy supplements throughout and they do contain the Vit D, so I basically just take that and nothing else. Mine are called Proceive - I took them pre-conception, and first trimester, and now I'm on the second trimester packs. No clue if they're doing anything but I have been religious with them. And they're also not cheap, so I really bloody hope they do!! LOL.

@Coco9910 they did! Posterior, so should be feeling stuff as nothing is muffling the movements, but they are still very subtle. I hope she's OK in there. I am so anxious to see her next week. Very excited, but also sh*tting myself! Grin

@NamelessBaby1 awww I hope so too! I definitely see a lot more of a bump this past week or so, I hope in another week or two everyhting gets more pronounced - the bump, the kicks, all of it!

ChinChilly · 07/03/2022 15:43

@strawberrysummer19 i was taking the same amount and whatever was in my pregnancy multivitamin, the midwife told me to stop taking the extra 1000ui one so it might be worth checking with your midwife

KizboBaggins · 08/03/2022 07:14

@strawberrysummer19 good luck for your scan today!

Mine went swimmingly yesterday. We're having a little boy! And thankfully all his measurements were spot on and we're feeling so grateful and excited to meet him ❤️

Just got to prepare myself to live in a house full of boys... already got DH, DSS (who is almost a teenager) and DDog - although he's recently been relieved of his manhood, poor thing 😂

MittensForKittens123 · 08/03/2022 07:44

I’ve got my 20 week scan at lunchtime today - I’m quite nervous!
I had a panic last night that I hadn’t felt the baby move all day, but I felt a few kicks later on, so I was clearly being neurotic Blush

Get well soon to those with covid, and make sure you get as much rest as possible. I had it three and half weeks ago and I’m still exhausted- I think I’d be feeling better if I’d taken a bit more time off work, so listen to your bodies.

missv556 · 08/03/2022 08:03

@Coco9910 yes I'll be calling my boy Malakai or kai for short.

In terms of movement, it's still sporadic for me too. Not really found much of a pattern to it. He moves when he wants to move or I just don't always feel it cos during my scan last week I could see him moving on the screen but couldn't feel all of it. He does move about a bit when I eat though lol so that's a guaranteed way to get him active. Sometimes it's a small amount and others it's full on woah calm down son 🤣 not felt anything on the outside yet though so looking forward to that still. My placenta is posterior

strawberrysummer19 · 08/03/2022 08:09

@KizboBaggins yay that's great to hear that - and congrats ! We have a household of girls - had a gender scan a couple of weeks ago so it will be nice to confirm that today

@MittensForKittens123 how exciting. Mine is this afternoon - look forward to your update

Still very little movements for me so far
Still expecting more for 20wks but after todays scan it will be a big weight off

X

KizboBaggins · 08/03/2022 08:12

@missv556 I absolutely love that name!

@MittensForKittens123 I was the same before my scan yesterday, thought he hadn't been moving about a lot for 24hrs but it was definitely all in my head lol. Good luck for your scan! Are you finding out what you're having?

Coco9910 · 08/03/2022 09:01

@missv556 yes I love that! And if you are your partner love it, that’s all that matters!

Good luck to everyone having scans over the next couple of days! I’m excited for mine on Friday, but just hope she is measuring as she should! And I’m going to ask more about when to expect to feel more movements with an anterior placenta. It’s probably in my head but I feel like I have felt her less since finding out my placenta location.
