Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in while, I've been so busy with work and general life as soon as I sit down I just fall asleep 🤣 glad to see everyone is getting on ok though!

@JJ1992 I was thinking the same about the sleepyheads I think I'm going to steer clear of them but i remember working in childcare years ago and they were sooo popular back then.

@HotToddyColdSauvignon I believe our silvercross is the same, carrycot doesn't flattern as others have said I think I'll use the car seat for quick trips to the shops then the carry cot for longer trips out. I'm so unorganised I haven't even checked our pushchair fits in the boots of our cars 😫🤣

We had a 4d scan yesterday, I only paid £35 for ours.. she was not playing ball to begin with arms crossed over her face, so went for a walk and she briefly moved her arms so we could see her face then up came a foot into her eye 😂 we got a couple of nice pictures but they were so lovely at the scan place they're having us back for a rescan next week to try get a better view.

My movements are mainly low and on the sides but I've got a anterior placenta so don't feel a massive amount at the front. I wouldn't say my movements are regular pattern either anybody else the same? I'm sure it says they should be in a pattern by 28 weeks 🤔

strawberrysummer19 · 24/04/2022 17:06

@ChinChilly that's a good price, my clinic starts at £45 but at this gestation goes up but I don't really mind as after this one I won't pay out for anymore - I'm having a couple of growth scans on nhs so that's me done.

I'm 26+5 and there's definitely no pattern, so random. And I have anterior placenta too.

I like the look of the ikkle bubba pram but going pram shopping on Sunday to decide.

I bought a nest pillow today! Found one for a fab price and really lovely too, I bought the xl
One as figured can use it for daytime napping and on the move. And not to pricey if I don't use it that much - I also invested in a swaddle blanket - something I did with my first initially - she loved it but I know they are not for everyone it certainly helped in the early weeks so I feel happy for buying two purchases today.

I'll post a link.

I won't buy any more swaddle blankets incase baby doesn't get on with it. I just uses cellular blankets before - but they were so fiddly and always kicked loose

X

ChinChilly · 24/04/2022 17:19

@strawberrysummer19 Tbf that scan was on a half price deal and photo's are charged extra so it probably all works out about the same price. Love the colours of your two purchases 😍

strawberrysummer19 · 24/04/2022 17:23

@ChinChilly ah I see, that's a great deal. Yeah I thought so - love the colours even though I'm having a girl I've got a mixture of different colours rather than just pink - some greys and whites I love too x have only bought a few outfits ! Will enjoy buying some bits over the next few weeks I think - just bits here and there x

annie1994 · 24/04/2022 17:35

@ChinChilly I think they do say around 28 weeks we should feel a kind of pattern. I’m 30+4 and can’t really say he has much of a pattern, just like when I’ve eaten he normally kicks and when I’m lying in bed in the evening he kicks. I did mention to my midwife and she didn’t seem too concerned but it all just makes me paranoid about if he is alright in there!!

ChinChilly · 24/04/2022 17:36

@strawberrysummer19 I really like all the gender neutral colours, I really don't want all pink everything although some of all pink bits are super cute! I love newborns in just white.

ChinChilly · 24/04/2022 17:38

@annie1994 I'm exactly the same, after food and when I'm lying down. I'm glad you said that I was starting to feel paranoid especially as a FTM I don't really know how much movement I should be expecting

annie1994 · 24/04/2022 17:45

@ChinChilly I guess that some babies are lazier than other so you just get to know your own baby. When I feel like I haven’t felt him for a while I normally eat something and/or lie down and that normally reassures me. But it’s so hard knowing isn’t it! I’m not even a FTM as I have a toddler but I can’t really remember what his routine was like - just that he went crazy after anything sweet 😂

ChinChilly · 24/04/2022 17:53

@annie1994 I think I might have abit of a lazy baby, at most of our scans she's always just chilling with her hands over her head and refuses to move position. Yeah lying on my left side always gets her kicking about. Oh gosh it doesn't get any easier then haha how old is your little boy?

SoMuch2Say · 24/04/2022 18:09

Does anyone else have painful ribs? I’ve been trying to sleep mainly on my left side and think it’s caused baby to kick over and over in the same spot and now have a very sore left lower rib.

Confusion101 · 24/04/2022 19:06

@JJ1992 I had a class with a midwife yesterday and she couldn't be more against them! As others have said, she said perhaps for day time naps when you can watch them but absolutely not for night time or if you are planning to try catch some Zzzs while baby sleeps 🙈

strawberrysummer19 · 24/04/2022 20:02

@Confusion101 ah that makes perfect sense
I shan't be using mine at all in the cot

@SoMuch2Say yes me!! So bloody painful like an annoying ache - have had it for ages so worried the bigger I get! I remember having it with my first also
It's like a burning sensation

@ChinChilly hahaha my baby too !! X

SoMuch2Say · 24/04/2022 21:53

How are pelvic floor exercises going for everyone?
I had my physio examine mine and she seemed a little disappointed with my strength or lack of… told me I should be doing at least one set of exercises standing up but I find it so hard when standing!

KizboBaggins · 25/04/2022 06:45

@SoMuch2Say how do you measure pelvic floor strength...? I have done exactly zero exercises so far...

@Confusion101 my midwife said the same, so I'm going to hold off on getting one for sure

I had a few firsts yesterday - went swimming for the first time (first time pregnant, I have been swimming before 😅) which was amazing to feel so light for an hour!

I also had a stranger comment on my pregnancy for the first time. In Burger King waiting for food, he looked at DH and said "How long left?" and we literally had no idea what he was talking about... he eventually pointed at my bump and DH, like a rabbit in the headlights, looked at me and was like "uhhh like 8 weeks?!" ...so either he panicked, hasn't been paying attention to how far along I am, or forgot basic maths 🙄 (I'm just 27 weeks today lol)

ChinChilly · 25/04/2022 07:38

@KizboBaggins so glad you said that about doing zero pelvic floor exercises because I've done none and was thinking oh shit should I have been doing them 🤣

Coco9910 · 25/04/2022 09:58

@strawberrysummer19 which Ickle Bubba pram are you looking at? We looked at the Stomp but the handle didn’t seem very sturdy, so we went with the Ickle Bubba Eclipse one which we loved!

Ive been using the NHS Squeezy app for pelvic floor exercises but no idea if it’s making a difference 😅

KizboBaggins · 25/04/2022 10:02

@ChinChilly I've decided that because I can still sleep through the night without having to pee that my pelvic floor is fine. Absolutely no medical reasoning for that, but I'm happy living in ignorance for now

I also can't stop wondering how pelvic floor strength is being measured... I have some disturbing images in my mind 😬 @SoMuch2Say please put my mind at ease 😅

strawberrysummer19 · 25/04/2022 10:14

@Coco9910 ohh I'm not sure which one it was
It was the only one in smyths
I will bear that in mind thank you! X

NamelessBaby1 · 25/04/2022 11:01

@KizboBaggins haha, now I have images of them making us clench various objects in place with our nethers to test it 🤣

I sometimes remember to do like 10 squeezes a day but that's about it, haha. Haven't been doing much in the way of exercise in any case so have probably had it by now!

That's funny about your partner not having a clue, mines wouldn't either to be fair lol. Think he's still in complete denial at actually having a baby on the way at this point!

SoMuch2Say · 25/04/2022 12:10

Hahaha yes I had to pop a grape using my pelvic floor muscles alone in under 20 seconds 👏😂

basically she had two fingers inside and asked me to do a number of pulse clenches and then a few holding for ten seconds, laying down and standing.

ShellUK09 · 25/04/2022 12:18

@SoMuch2Say ah god that sounds horrendous! I must make a start on these exercises too... So far no midwife has mentioned the exercises to me, but will try to remember to do some at least as it's easy enough. I do get up every night to pee at 1-2am so think I need this!

ChinChilly · 25/04/2022 13:48

@SoMuch2Say nooooo that sounds horrendous 😳
I do get up to pee atleast once in the night for a pee, didn't need to pre pregnancy and I think this baby thinks my bladder is a trampoline but i think i need to make more of an effort to do some exercises

KizboBaggins · 25/04/2022 14:08

@SoMuch2Say that would be a hard pass from me! It sounds horrifying 😂

@ChinChilly @ShellUK09 I think whether you get up in the night must be linked to the baby's position too, not just pelvic floor strength!

I have tried to do a few today just after SoMuch's reminder, but I have no idea if I'm doing it right... I'm just tensing everything down there and hoping the right muscles are working. But sometimes I'm like wait no that's my butt muscle not my lady bits 😂

ChinChilly · 25/04/2022 17:50

@KizboBaggins I think you're right about babies position and toilet trips.. also tried to do some pelvic floor exercises this afternoon no idea if I'm doing them right.

I have been exhausted all day today and baby has not stopped wriggling all day, actually woke me this morning with what felt like she was trying to fight her way out of my side. Today is definitely the most active she has been just as I called her lazy 🤣
