So annoyed as we've been so careful and trying not to read about pregnant women dying. I'm fully vaccinated so hopefully both of us will be ok.

NamelessBaby1 · 15/04/2022 14:29

@Mattieandmummy you'll see quite a few of us have had it in the last few months, and none of us were particularly unwell after being fully vacced and boostered, so fingers crossed you'll be ok too and that it will clear up quickly.

The advice my midwife gave was to keep well hydrated and to keep moving around to reduce any clot risk. Take the chance to relax and rest if you can though!

Mattieandmummy · 15/04/2022 20:09

@NamelessBaby1 thanks for the words of support and the reminder about quite a few people on here having covid and being ok. Hopefully this will pass soon as you say x

CaptainCarp · 16/04/2022 08:05

@Mattieandmummy my midwife mainly seemed concerned about unvaccinated pregnant ladies.
Fingers crossed you don't feel to unwell with it.

As others have said keep hydrated & try to keep gently moving.
Remember if you don't eat much baby is a leech so will get everything they need from you!

So I’m starting to consider having an elective c-section mainly due to a traumatic first birth but also a couple other reasons. Ladies that have had a c-section before, honestly how was the recovery? This is the only thing putting me off as I have a toddler (he’ll be 22 months when baby is due) 🤔

Effram · 16/04/2022 18:21

@Mattieandmummy hope you feel better soon - the scary stats about pregnant women with it are exclusively those who were unvaccinated/single jabbed (happen to have been sitting next to a research poster about it at the hospital last week). I had it at 20 weeks, it was a really bad cold but that was all. As others have said, keep hydrated, take regular paracetamol. my midwife recommended drinking warm water/herbal teas as body can absorb the fluids more easily, and lots of rest.

I had an elective Caesarean with my DD and it was very calm and controlled. Recovery wise for me I was up and walking around the block within a week, it's bearable if pain medication is kept on top of. I'm having another planned section with this baby and just plan on taking it easy. Do you have family nearby to help with DC1? The worst night was the night I went home but I recovered fairly quick 😊
paintfairy · 16/04/2022 22:06

@Mattieandmummy I had it 3 weeks ago. Wasn't even as bad as a cold (aside from one day I ached). I'm not vaccinated either. I've never had it before now and my bloody DH bought it in from work. But I'm fine now.

annie1994 · 17/04/2022 10:22

@Mads96

annie1994 · 17/04/2022 10:24

@Mads96 whoops sorry I tagged you and then clicked post by accident 😂 thank you for your message! That’s really useful to know, do they give you stronger pain relief to take home? Or just paracetamol/ ibuprofen?

My partner will have 2 weeks off and then my mum is a great help and will help a lot from then onwards. So I do have the help but I just feel bad for my mum!

SouthwestSis · 17/04/2022 10:33

@Mattieandmummy hope you're feeling OK. Don't forget covid really puts up your blood clot risk so make sure your midwife knows you have it so they can figure it in to your risk assessment, you may benefit from blood thinning injections to help prevent clots.
Hope you're not going too stir crazy isolating!

Mattieandmummy · 17/04/2022 12:45

@SouthwestSis @Effram @CaptainCarp thanks guys. I am actually feeling a lot better today and more like I just have an annoying cough. It has made me realise though that the cold I thought I had last week probably wasn't just a cold and the exhaustion I put down to pregnancy probably wasn't just down to pregnancy. 🤦 Still testing positive though, luckily we have a garden so I can mooch about in the sunshine out there. Am starting to wonder how I'm going to occupy our three year old only at home for the next few days! She's just finally tested negative and is bouncing around at full strength and full of Easter chocolate 🤣

Capricorn8990 · 17/04/2022 19:50

Ughh gosh felt so rough today. Was sick last night, so much so I brought up fresh red blood and burst some vessels in my face! Called the midwife and they weren't too worried as it only happened once but just wish the sickness would go altogether 😔

How is everyone else? Anyone have nice plans for the long weekend? Lovely weather 🌞 xx

Mads96 · 18/04/2022 13:36

@annie1994 At the hospital they can give you stronger stuff like oramorph and then recommend ibuprofen and paracetamol at home. They say to take the ibuprofen the. 2 hours later take the paracetamol then 2 hours later the ibuprofen and so on (I think the gap is 4 hours per ibuprofen) so you're always covered- I hope I've explained that clearly! So you're still following the 4 hours between each dose.
I also read online that you can ask your doctor to prescribe something stronger for home if needed.
If you need anymore advice just ask and I'll do my best! 😊 Like no one tells you that you can get wind pain after and to take peppermint tablets to help!

annie1994 · 18/04/2022 13:49

@Mads96 thank you very much! Good idea about the peppermint as that’s meant to help normal trapped wind!

strawberrysummer19 · 18/04/2022 20:17

Hi everyone

Does anyone get quiter days with movement ?

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and since last couple of weeks they have got stronger

Saturday was my most active day so far but yesterday not so much so today have wanted to feel lots more to make me reassured

I've felt her but just not as much - not sure if it's reduced movement as she has no pattern

Last time I felt movement was this afternoon

Does anyone else get this? Know I can call if I'm worried and as I say I have felt movement I guess because Saturday she was really going for it I guess I've just wanted it to continue

Been so busy family over, entertaining and maybe just been so busy

Finally relaxing for the evening after a nice bath and an ice cold drink so hoping I feel some good kicks 😀

CaptainCarp · 18/04/2022 20:37

@strawberrysummer19 I definitely had some days where movements weren't so strong.
Still felt something but assumed because of position they just weren't as "big".
Sometimes it seemed to be when baby was changing / settling into a pattern (or seemed to be).

I'm 29 weeks today & when baby is feet down it feels like they are trying to kick there way out of my uterus 😂 when sideways the movements feel different although getting stronger now.

strawberrysummer19 · 18/04/2022 20:55

@CaptainCarp would you suggest I call in? I'm wondering if I should? I'm thinking after my drinks I'd call if nothing, just not sure what to do we know it can be normal xx

kiwi17 · 18/04/2022 21:17

@strawberrysummer19 I would call them if you are worried - they will always be happy to give advice over the phone. I did last pregnancy and they were really good- everything was fine but def worth checking. I did have a quiet day the other day but felt little twitches here and there and it came to life at 10pm like it normally does (I'm 28+3) so I think you'll start to learn your own patterns..

CaptainCarp · 18/04/2022 21:29

@strawberrysummer19 I would call if you are worried. I am sure they would rather people call than not!
I didn't as I felt a bit then as Kiwi said baby gave a few strong movements in the evening.

Baby has pretty much settled into a routine now for the last couple of weeks. So although some movements are stronger I always feel them now.

Ok….

Just done all the washing and ironing of the clothes we’ve got so far…

0-3 months (basic clothing) we have:

20 baby vests (the short sleeved and short legged ones) - got quite a lot of these as it’ll be a summer baby and figure she’ll be warm? Confused

11 sleepsuits - for when it’s colder?

(Some “outfits” but not counting those as they’re not for practical everyday use if you see what I mean)

Is that enough?

SamanthaVimes · 18/04/2022 22:00

@HotToddyColdSauvignon sounds like plenty to me

Coco9910 · 18/04/2022 22:01

@strawberrysummer19 yes I had this last week! I’m 25+4 today so a couple of days behind you but I had a couple of days where the baby wasn’t as active..I was still feeling her but not as much. I had my 25 week appointment while I was feeling like this so spoke to my midwife and she said if I’m ever concerned to call triage. I’ve also found recently that if I just sit with my hands on my bump I feel the baby a lot on my hands that I don’t feel on the inside of that makes sense? Like little movements. If you still aren’t feeling them much now I’d definitely call for peace of mind! Hope you start feeling some stronger kicks soon 💕

Feeling So much better and so glad I went in
