I’m getting rib pain too @strawberrysummer19, it reminds me of when baby has a foot jammed in your rib but like you say it’s too early for that!
I’m feeling all round uncomfortable and huge this week. With my first, I was still in normal clothes at 22 weeks (with button undone), but this time round I’ve put on so much weight and just getting up feels like effort. If I keep growing at this rate I’ll be a whale. Trying not to let it get me down but it’s not easy!

Mumof2tobe · 18/03/2022 09:40

@Purple1181 feeling similar to you in that I feel enormous already and don’t know how it’s possible to get any bigger or more uncomfortable. Doing anything is getting a bit exhausting! It’s quite stressful as I’m wanting to keep maternity leave for after baby is here and not have to use too much before.

On another stressful note have also been struck by covid! Sad 24 wks… anyone else at a similar time and covid positive and feeling dreadful?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 18/03/2022 11:11

Me @Mumof2tobe, came down +ve a few days ago

Told my midwife, they checked my pathway and said I was still low risk, just keep up fluids rest etc

Felt shattered a few days ago, literally spent 2 days asleep. Today, feel a lot more upright and sprightly, back working (from home - ahem, sofa!) just more like “just a cold”

Hang in there

NamelessBaby1 · 18/03/2022 12:56

Oh poor you @Mumof2tobe! There were a few of us in the same boat a couple of weeks back. I'm still coughing now and again but really been fine since last week now. As Hot Toddy says, plenty fluids and rest, although my midwife told me to try not to sit/ lie still too long because of slightly increased clot risks.

On the clothing subject, I've got maternity jeans on for the first time today, they are a little big yet but honestly so nice to be able to breath again haha.

Danani · 18/03/2022 14:39

I've also got maternity jeans and started wearing them a few weeks back - the belly bit is too big for me too @NamelessBaby1 but yes, the comfort. Oh the comfort!

I feel like my belly has doubled in size in just a week! And I decided to weigh myself and have already gained 2 kg, and I'm only halfway through this pregnancy! I was hoping I won't put on any weight for the first two trimesters, and I've heard you put a lot in the last one!
How is everyone else doing weight-wise?

everythingsnew · 18/03/2022 15:21

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for ages (only posted once actually! Haha)

On the sleepyhead / baby nest topic, I managed to get one on Facebook marketplace for £40 and it looks new so I thought it was worth it, I'll just wash the cover etc and if I don't end up using it much hopefully I'll be able to sell on again, so this is an option if you ladies are also unsure on it 😃

I have also gone into maternity jeans, ages ago actually haha I only really got a noticeable bump in the last week or 2, I'm tall and slim naturally and before the last couple of weeks I think I just filled out a lot around the middle and just looked bloated or like I had eaten a big lunch! I could notice a bump but with my clothes on it wasn't really noticeable to others.

I weighed myself this morning as well and I've put on a stone so far, which is about 7kg so doesn't sound like your 2kg is anything to worry about! I'm 24 weeks today and feeling very grateful 🥰

everythingsnew · 18/03/2022 15:24

I think it's average to put on about 1 pound per week once your halfway but I can't remember where I read that now, might have been in the app I have!

Infertilitywarrior · 18/03/2022 15:58

Hi everyone, I just found this thread whilst looking to see if I could find a topic related to my worries and looks as though there's loads of people who might be able to help. I'm currently 21 weeks with twins and had my cervix measured which was 20mm, consultant said this was fine but then I googled it 🙈 and it says that anything under 25mm is a concern for premature Labour and further intervention is needed.
Can anyone who has been through it ease my anxiety? Any experiences, should I be worried? Should I ask again for them to confirm its OK? Should I take the consultants word for it? Has anyone had a 20mm cervix and been told theyre ok or been told theyre not and had to have a cervical stitch?
Thanks so much ❤

missv556 · 19/03/2022 08:12

@Danani I've gained 2kg (4.5 lbs) as well so far but it's all in my belly so it's just baby, placenta and fluid. Based on my bmi I should only gain 11-20 lbs throughout so I'm right on track as I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow. I did worry about gaining weight at first, especially when my belly started growing. But then I just told myself I'm gaining weight for a reason and once that reason is here, the weight will be shed. Its temporary. I was never a skinny girl anyway 🤣 and despite only gaining 4.5 lbs, it feels so much heavier, like this bump feels bigger and harder to carry around every day

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 19/03/2022 08:27

Jeez Blush

I’ve done a stone and a half in 25 weeks (think I took the “sit on the sofa and eat whatever the hell you want”) too literally in the first 12 weeks when I wanted was entire batternburgs and mounds of cheesy pasta

SPea · 19/03/2022 08:59

I've been using this to track what's 'normal', as my BMI was over before I started so wasn't sure what healthy weight gain might look like..

Hi ladies! I'm going bowling this evening I'm 24+1 this is okay right as long as I use the lightest ball? Xx

NamelessBaby1 · 19/03/2022 17:07

I'm refusing to weigh myself haha, don't even want to know the damage so far!

I'm sure bowling would be fine as long as you don't over stretch or anything. Have fun!

AppleTree16 · 19/03/2022 17:13

I just used my normal weight when we went a few weeks ago. Didn’t know we were meant to do any different? 🤷🏼‍♀️

AppleTree16 · 19/03/2022 17:13

Sorry @Capricorn8990 didn’t tag you!

Capricorn8990 · 19/03/2022 17:35

@NamelessBaby1 thank you! I just don't want to over do it as I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and I was arching the next day from dancing!

@AppleTree16 I think just cos I worry so much I always want to check and get peoples views haha xx

Coco9910 · 19/03/2022 19:23

@Capricorn8990 I went bowling a few weeks ago and just use the lightest ball but it did make me feel a bit sick as it’s so much core strength trying to bowl. You won’t be shocked to learn I came last 😂

I keep forgetting to weigh myself! I’m going to set a reminder to weigh myself in the morning and see how I’m doing 😅 trying to make sure I go on more walks now the weathers getting nicer.

I’ve been at the Baby and Toddler show in Manchester today and we’ve ordered our pram! Our first big purchase so it’s getting more real now! We’ve gone for the Ickle Bubba Eclipse travel system and we thought it was a really good deal! Also got some little bits like a Ewan the sheep and also booked a newborn photo shoot for £45 which seems like a really good deal! I’m sure we will be caught out with the costs of the actual canvas and images 😅

Capricorn8990 · 20/03/2022 09:03

@Coco9910 haha well I went and used the lightest ball and I was last too 🤣! How exciting that you've ordered your pram!! Love ickle bubba stuff.

I was wondering with movements, is it normal to feel less one day to another and more active movements another day? I have an anterior placenta and usually feel kicks on my side or low down but haven't felt as much this morning but still feeling her x

Porridgeislife · 20/03/2022 18:15

@Capricorn8990 my baby has very busy days and very quiet days still. I read earlier that at this point they can still turn and face away from you, so you won’t feel kicks when they do that.

@strawberrysummer19 I’ve had rib pain (mostly left sided) since 16 ish weeks. Physio helps. I find standing up much better than sitting down.

We reach 24 weeks tomorrow which feels like a massive milestone! I’ve just started stalking Facebook marketplace for a few bits I want (mainly a Babybjorn bouncer) and picked up a Schnuggle bath from someone in my village this weekend.

Coco9910 · 20/03/2022 19:03

@Capricorn8990 oh well must be the lightest balls that make us lose 😂 I think that’s normal to not feel so much some days. The baby is still small enough to move without hitting stuff. Is it 28 weeks they used to recommend kick counting from?

missv556 · 21/03/2022 07:16

@Coco9910 yeah my midwife said 28 weeks when I asked her about it a few days ago

Coco9910 · 21/03/2022 08:58

@missv556 oh that’s good got a few more weeks to start seeing if there’s a pattern. I will ask my midwife to explain it more at my next appointment :)

KizboBaggins · 21/03/2022 10:49

I had my first unsolicited bump touch this morning 😂 so weird how it's deemed acceptable like in no other situation would you ever walk up to someone, especially just a colleague or acquaintance, and rub their belly... I'm not too bothered by it tbh but just such an odd scenario to find myself in! Has anyone else started getting bump pats and rubs from people other than family/close friends?!

AppleTree16 · 21/03/2022 11:38

@KizboBaggins I have but only when people have been directly invited to by me (I.e. siblings or close friends) or when they’ve asked me first rather than assuming they can. I’ve found lots of people rather reluctant in a “are you sure that’s okay way”, maybe as a hangover from covid and all the non touching 😂. It’s been really nice seeing siblings saying hello to future niece/nephew.

Mumof2tobe · 21/03/2022 12:09

@KizboBaggins have had it once . felt a bit odd at the time as was someone don’t see regularly ( but not a stranger- I don’t know how I’d feel if had been) but was also lovely as was also at the time when we were still only just telling everyone after our scans. It was very gentle and a tentative ‘and how is this little one?’ conversation starter Smile
