@strawberrysummer19 yep they just asked me which ones I wanted. Probably also depends what they have in stock.

paintfairy · 12/03/2022 19:04

My local boots didn't have any of the Emma's diary packs. 🙄

Coco9910 · 13/03/2022 08:31

@SPea yes that’s the one I don’t think I have as I remember reading about getting nappies in it but I’ve not had any..will ask next time I’m in boots!

@paintfairy how annoying! Do you have an Argos near you? They are available there too!

Does anyone know anywhere for nursery inspo in terms of decorating? I really want to make a start on it so it’s done well ahead of time and we aren’t rushing, but no idea how to decorate. We currently have white walls and grey curtains and carpet (will be keeping the carpet and curtains as they are new). Was going for a grey and white theme before we knew the sex, but I’d like to add touches of pink now too.

strawberrysummer19 · 13/03/2022 08:33

@paintfairy I went to my local boots also yesterday and it was closed!

Today I'm going to a retail park with a boots and an Argos

Does anyone know if there is a kick counter that you can add kicks on from previous days? My one is only for the present time

I'm going to start tracking movement now I'm getting little bits - I had morning afternoon and evening yesterday and some now but I didn't open the app at all each time as each time I wasn't with my phone then forgot! So now it looks like there was none yesterday when that was my most active day so far - also I know we aren't supposed to count 'kicks' mine also is sometimes just little sensations too so any better apps than I have ? I have kicks count

Both yesterday and today been woken up by her movements which I must say is really lovely

Any recommendations on apps please ?

X

@Coco9910 Pinterest is the go to for nursery inspiration- be prepared to get lost looking for hours tho Blush

What has everyone bought so far for their expected little ones?

Not a single thing. Currently doing inventory from our first and throwing out things we won't use as we're moving in 8 weeks, 17 weeks before I'm due. We've chosen our pram and have a lot of stuff still from DC1 so looking forward to when we can procure the rest! Not worried though, still lots of time Smile

ChinChilly · 13/03/2022 15:54

Every times I've been into a boots or argos it's been really busy so I haven't bothered with them yet.

The nursery to be in our house is grey and white already so I'll probably just add some pink touches.

@Mumof2tobe we've brought our pushchair just because it was a decent deal and I didn't want to miss it, its currently boxed up in the corner of the dining room, we've also got some odds and sods clothing wise mainly stuff I've picked up in the sales, also got some super cute sleepsuits from next, warning ladies next baby clothes may leave you bankrupt 🤣
OH is really into his trainers and has a ridiculous collection so he's picked up a couple of pairs of daddy daughter matching trainers, I don't think they'll even fit until she's about 1 but its kinda sweet.

I have been exhausted the last few weeks so I'm still waiting for this second trimester energy boost.. starting to think its all a lie 😅

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 13/03/2022 16:13

@Mumof2tobe so far I have got my buggy, a few sleep suits and vests in newborn and 0-3 months, some bibs and muslin squares, a few blankets etc as wont know the gender till birth haven’t gone overboard and didn’t want to buy too many plain things lol. I’ve got a changing mat and bath seat thing. My cousin had a baby in December so she will be giving me a next to me, Moses basket, baby swing and bits like that so just need to get a new mattress for them and some bedding. Still got a bit to get but still plenty of time x

Mattieandmummy · 13/03/2022 16:47

We've bought nothing so far but kept everything from our first so reuse as much as possible. Plus I think I'm slightly in denial there's going to be a baby in 17 weeks.

Me too! Although there was a lovely kick session to Bruce Springsteen music last night. DC1 used to have that reaction to Michael Bublé so that was a relief Grin
Coco9910 · 13/03/2022 18:07

@Mumof2tobe yes got my Pinterest board on the go! There’s so many nice ones..wish I had the skill set to recreate them 😂

We haven’t got much so far! Bought an Angelcare bath seat ages ago when they were in Aldi for half price, and have a Next To Me crib we are borrowing from my sister, so just need to get a mattress for that. Also borrowing her poddle pod so have that too. Other than that we just have a load of little clothes we have been gifted from our families..we haven’t bought any clothes yet (except did get a pack of baby grows with zips when we were in New York as a celebratory thing as we had just had our 8 week private scan 😂). Once we have been to the baby and toddler event in Manchester next weekend we will probably start buying the bigger bits.

I’ve had like a complete break down today over the baby’s movements. I’m 20+3 so I know it’s still early days in regards to her movements, and I do feel some bits. But I have an anterior placenta and I think it’s just that I feel like I don’t have any guidance on when I should start to worry if I’m not feeling more consistent movements. My next midwife appointment is still 4 weeks away and it seems a long time to wait to ask these questions if I still haven’t felt much movement. I know I’m in my head and my hormones / emotions are all over the place and it’s normal to not feel much yet, especially a pattern of movements, but I think the worry overtook my brain 😩

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 13/03/2022 18:25

@Coco9910 is this your first baby? When did you start feeling movement? It probably is the position of the placenta and it’s probably because baby is still small. At first I could any feel movement at night when laying down and was like that for a while but then could start to feel them when standing up etc. I’m 23+2 now and can see movement from the outside but only just recently. You can always call your midwife or hospital if you are really concerned. Every babys movement patterns different and soon you will have a pattern that you know is normal for you. It is a worrying time being pregnant xx

Coco9910 · 13/03/2022 18:42

@Fizzybubblegumbottles yes my first pregnancy, so I guess that also makes it a bit more difficult to feel movements. I feel like I’ve been feeling some movement in the evenings for the past couple of weeks, but since finding out I have an anterior placenta I feel like I don’t feel it as much. Whether that’s just my brain telling me I won’t feel anything yet and I’ve stopped picking up on it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had a scan on Friday and she was fine and chilling so I don’t know why I’m worried! I think I’m a couple of weeks if I’m still unsure I will contact my midwife, as I feel like they would just say it’s still early at the minute. It is worrying..the anxiety just doesn’t stop!

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 13/03/2022 18:50

@Coco9910 I know it’s normal to feel first movements any time from 16-24 weeks and they only get stronger as baby gets bigger. Maybe it is your brain playing tricks but then maybe it’s not so it’s best to check if you are worried. I’m sure in a few weeks you will be posting that she is very active 🙂 This is my 3rd but with my first baby I had a start of a placenta abruption due to eclampsia so I was extra worried with my 2nd pregnancy all was well though but still worried for this one as my blood flow in one artery wasn’t the best at my 20 week scan. It doesn’t stop when they are here either! Try relax and just know there is help there if you need it.

Coco9910 · 13/03/2022 20:46

@Fizzybubblegumbottles yeah that’s true, it’s still early, my placenta is blocking most of the kicks / movements and she’s still quite small in comparison to how big she’s gonna get! I could see her on our scan on Friday moving and stretching and couldn’t feel it so I don’t know why I’ve suddenly got worried. I’ve felt her moving a little bit today so I will keep monitoring and if I’m still thinking about it in a couple of days I will contact my midwife. Thank you for your words of encouragement 🥰

missv556 · 14/03/2022 07:10

So far I've brought clothing, a changing mat, wipes, a bouncer, muslins, Bibs, a blanket, a little comforter thing and a Nappy bin. My mum has gotten some toiletries and bits and bobs like thermometer, Grooming kit and a baby bath and some clothing but the clothing is 3-6 months which is good as I've gotten mostly 0-3. My dad is gonna get the next to me when I'm ready for it. Yet to buy the pushchair. I feel like I still need to buy loads! But when I've typed it all out I've gotten a bit already
@ChinChilly next clothes are so cute. Been in twice so far but not actually brought anything there yet lol

ChinChilly · 14/03/2022 09:18

@missv556 you have got quite abit but seriously why does this tiny person need so much stuff 🤣

Off for a vet trip this morning, dog has managed to cut one of his pads on his walk last night but it's quite nasty 🙄 I have the worlds most accident prone doggo! Then I've got the second attempt at our 20 week scan this afternoon

KizboBaggins · 14/03/2022 10:23

@missv556 oh man now I feel really unprepared 😂 I've bought one single baby grow thing....

My mum went to Morrisons this weekend and went mad on clothes I think. She bought some adorable Peter Rabbit outfits, but I could see the price tags in pictures she sent and some were £9 each which I think is mental considering he's going to fit in stuff for a few months at the most. But I'm not complaining if she wants to spoil him lol.

@ChinChilly i feel as though I've been living at the vets the past month... one scratched eye (£70), one swollen paw that magically disappeared the next day (£70) and one neutering (£217) ... good job I adore the hairy little bugger 🙄

KizboBaggins · 14/03/2022 10:24

@ChinChilly oh and good luck for your scan!! Let us know how it goes Smile

Danani · 14/03/2022 11:25

Does anyone know: can round ligament pain feel like period cramping and go on for a few hours?

I had the weirdest experience yesterday (sorry it’s TMI!)- after breakfast I got this cramp that feels like when you really have to go to the bathroom, I went, did my thing, but the cramping continued for another 2-3 hours! It felt very much like period pains and it was uncomfortable, I had to curl up in bed. I rang the maternity helpline and they told me if I’m worried to go get it checked out. So I went in, the triage nurse was frankly pissed off about why I’m even there. She got the doppler out, we heard baby’s heartbeat, then did my urine, temp and blood pressure- all was normal. She was quite rude tbh, like I get it - maybe I shouldn’t have been even there but it’s my first pregnancy! I don’t know what’s normal! She told me to take a paracetamol. I did when I got home and the pain went away (not sure if it was the paracetamol or it had just ran its course) and haven’t had it since. But I’m just like wondering what it was and could it have been things stretching ? Would that feel like period cramps? And could it go on for hours?
I think I felt round ligament pains before but I was when I stood up suddenly and felt like a sharp stitch that went away in seconds.
I’m 20 weeks today and going for my scan tomorrow, so can mention it there though not sure how much the sonographer will know to advise me.

ChinChilly · 14/03/2022 12:09

@KizboBaggins yikes, yours sounds as bad as mine lol.. had to leave my boy there, broke my heart. He's gotta have a GA and have it cleaned and stiched back up poor little guy! Also poor bank balance good job He's insured.

@Danani I get period like cramps every now and again, I assumed it was just stretching but you did the right thing getting checked out, ignore the arsey mare! I'd mention it at your scan unless ur sonographer is like the one i had last week... even to just put your mind at rest.

missv556 · 14/03/2022 13:46

Feeling fed up. Just been informed that I have low vitamin d levels so I'm being prescribed yet another set of medication to take in addition to the aspirin and blood pressure medication I'm already taking. And then I googled what can happen if you have low vitamin d in pregnancy and now I'm worried my baby will be affected negatively

SPea · 14/03/2022 13:49

I haven't bought anything yet! Got tickets to the baby & toddler show in a couple of weeks and thinking of booking appointments at John Lewis and Mamas and Papas to try things out and get some advice before settling on any of the bigger purchases. I have literally no clue where to start!

SPea · 14/03/2022 13:54

@missv556 are you still taking pregnancy vitamins? I was taking the asda one, but my Midwife recommended I have an extra vitD on top, as they don't contain the recommended 10ug that you need, whereas ones like pregnacare do.

missv556 · 14/03/2022 13:57

@SPea I take pregnacare daily
