I donโ€™t know when Iโ€™m due, Iโ€™ve not had a period since DS was born but I got 1-2 weeks on a Clearblue digi this morning which puts me sometime late October or early November (I think!)
Feels like Iโ€™m too far behind the October group but too early for a November oneโ€ฆ anyone due a similar time and want to join me? Would love to have some company ๐Ÿ˜Š

@Kat668 Itโ€™s almost worse than the last time I was pregnant :( I keep comparing everything to how it was with my son.

Kat668 · 25/02/2022 11:36

@TheBirdintheCave I bet! I read on the NHS site about not comparing your pregnancy to others to help your mental health, but it didn't say anything about not comparing it to your own previous pregnancies! ๐Ÿ˜น

Kat668 · 25/02/2022 11:38

I did my self referral today! Did a third test this morning to make sure the lines weren't getting lighter and as it was still ok thought I'd bite the bullet and do it ๐Ÿ˜‚ still not feeling any symptoms except weird twinges and feelings in my tummy!

TheBirdintheCave · 25/02/2022 11:46

@Kat668 It's so hard not to compare isn't it haha.

I'm too scared to do my self referral. I'm probably going to leave it until eight weeks when hopefully we'll have had a private scan and seen a heartbeat :/ I don't want to waste anyone's time if something goes wrong.

Foxella · 25/02/2022 14:03

Happy Friday! Thank goodness itโ€™s nearly the weekend and I donโ€™t have to fight the distraction to work! Although Iโ€™ll miss my Friday night wine, DP has promised me a pizza instead ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congratulations @Hope90x @ChocolateCupcake123 @PELOAM @theblueflowers ๐Ÿฅฐ lovely to have you all join!

@Hjklasdfg maybe a Facebook group in a few weeks time? for me Iโ€™d like to make it through the early weeks and know that things are looking ok before setting that up but youโ€™re right that it would be easier to chat. Iโ€™d like to keep this group going here as well because I know Facebook isnโ€™t for everyone and sometimes chatting on an anonymous forum is easierโ€ฆ what does everyone else think?

@Kat668 @TheBirdintheCave I am soooo comparing everything to my first pregnancy too ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Iโ€™m trying to figure out a due date based on symptoms but already I feel like this pregnancy isnโ€™t identical which is hardly a surprise ๐Ÿ˜‚ I feel quite nauseous this afternoon but that could really easily be from the Daim bar Dairy Milk I scoffed at lunch time!

Iโ€™m going to wait another week to book in with the midwives, thatโ€™ll be around 2 weeks since my positive test so if I get sent for an early scan it should show something. I can make a rough guess how far along I am but if they want me to give my last period date then Iโ€™m slightly overdue ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you ladies :) and so happy for you all and your BFP's :)

3rd November appears to be a popular date lol

I've noticed a few of you mention early scans? Are these private and how do you go about arranging?
Also what do the numbers mean i.e 5+2?

@GAAJ04 I have crazy bloating and an almost empty feeling in my stomach. Some minor aches and twinges in my lower abdomen but nothing major. I'm worried that I'm getting ahead of myself because technically I'm only 4 weeks and 1 day lol

Oh my gosh I'm so glad you asked out the 5+1 dates etc โ€ฆ I haven't got a clue what that means either hahaha
Hjklasdfg · 25/02/2022 14:56

@Foxella of course โ˜บ๏ธ Was just a suggestion. I know sometimes itโ€™s easier being anonymous too.

@Hope90x I have a early scan booked but itโ€™s private, me and my husband are both very anxious so wanted it for peace of mind as I know the wait for the NHS scan is so long sometimes. I have been given my midwife booking appointment though for 25th March but that also seems like ages away!

@GAAJ04 5+1 is 5 weeks 1 day. Donโ€™t worry I had to Google it when I started looking at forums! So the number of weeks plus the day.

Hi Everyone!

This is my first ever post on here... my hubby and I started trying for a baby since my last period which was 15th Jan, I used natural cycles which said I ovulated on 4th Feb, so tested 2 weeks later and came back with a strong positive line, I have tested everyday since (8 tests) with 4 different brands and various types to double triple confirm (not sure if this is weird or not) but it is my first time getting pregnant or doing a test or trying and I feel a bit lost now...

I don't understand the not telling your friends and family thing, I feel like this is the time I need the most support but can't talk to anyone!

Does anyone know next steps? It is impossible to get an appointment at my GP and I have self-referred to a maternity unit online but it says I will receive a letter in 2 weeks which looks like I won't get an appointment till 10+ weeks, is this normal? Do I just hold tight till then?

Appreciate your help!! Sorry for the essay, nice to see so many expecting mums out there!

Hey Amy, this is also my first pregnancy so I'm with you on trying to navigate! So far we have told our parents, I'll be telling my close friends next week when I see them! I want them there with me during this emotional rollercoaster (I've never understood waiting to tell close family etc but each to their own) Do what feels right for you Smile

@AmyEF itโ€™s my first pregnancy too! Congratulations โ˜บ๏ธ

I called the GP up and just told the receptionist Iโ€™ve just found out Iโ€™m pregnant and she put me on the call back list. Then the doctor went through all my medications/whatโ€™s safe to continue etc then told me to self refer via my local hospital. They emailed me saying theyโ€™ll be in touch about a letter for an appointment but it will be between 8-12 weeks of pregnancy but I believe itโ€™s quite normal. The NHS website has a load of info about what you should be doing etc so might be worth having a look on there โ˜บ๏ธ

And completely up to you when you tell people! I think you should still tell a few people as the support makes a world of difference. My mother in law knows and one of my close friends, will probably tell rest of family after early scan.

I agree with @GAAJ04 you have to do what feels right for you โ˜บ๏ธ

Congratulations to you as well! It is actually such a relief just to write these words on here and get these responses. I think I will tell my Mum and a friend now, so thanks for the encouragement!

I have been doing a lot of research online and hopefully feel in a good place to keep healthy during these first few months. I strangely feel fine just my boobs have tripled in size!

How are you feeling?

Hjklasdfg · 25/02/2022 16:40

@AmyEF thank you! Hope it goes well โ˜บ๏ธ I would love to tell my mum but she wonโ€™t keep quiet haha so I thought not just yet.

How far are you now? I hope we all have a good pregnancy โ˜บ๏ธ Iโ€™m okay, very tired keep waking up extremely early and canโ€™t get back to sleep, have very sore boobs and nausea here and there but luckily the rest has been quite calm. Will see how the next few weeks go though!

Haha yes I am worried to tell certain people in case they can't keep quiet!

Well weirdly I think I know the exact date when I ovulated (4th Feb) so that makes me 3 weeks since then, so I guess the way the docs calculate it, it would be 5 weeks (although I am 6 weeks since my last period). You? Were you 'trying'?

Very similar symptoms to me! Having night sweats quite a lot but I assume that is because basal body temperature is high when pregnant (I measure my temp every morning). Have you changed much day to day since you found out?

Jfb23 · 25/02/2022 19:13

Hi everyone, just checking in. Congratulations to all the new BFP's.

I'd be up for a Facebook group when other people are. I find it easier, people write a post and then you can interact with different 'topics' instead of trying to catch up on lots of different ones on here, if that makes any sense haha

I think waiting until 12 weeks is quite old fashioned ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธI believe in telling the people who's support you'd want should anything go wrong. Because I know if something did I'd tell them anyway.

My trust say they want to see you between 8 and 9 weeks, I think to do with the blood tests they do, so maybe worth referring in time to get an app. I got a letter through with my appt but its for a Friday and I work Fridays. I phoned to rearrange but they said they lefta voixemail to say they only do Fridays. I was always under the impression you could change midwives, so you don't have to see the one from your GP practise, does anyone know if that's correct?

Cegbee · 25/02/2022 21:10

I had my first baby in the UK but we've since moved to Canada, really interesting the difference in the way things are done here. The first scan is a dating scan at 8-10 weeks and then you then only have another scan at 12-14 weeks for genetic screening if you're high risk (I am because of my age), but it seems most pay privately here for the NIPT/Harmony test so only have scans at 8-10 weeks and 20 weeks. Last time I paid for a private early scan at 9ish weeks- it will be weird not having a 12 week scan with a nice picture to show people!

Londonaries · 25/02/2022 22:17

@Butterscotchbaby congratulations!! Iโ€™m due October 20th!
Sorry to hear about your MMC and all my very best wishes for you. I also have very sore boobs, little crampy and crazy hungry xx

Hjklasdfg · 26/02/2022 05:09

@AmyEF ah I love my parents but itโ€™s their first grandchild so theyโ€™ll be too excited so Iโ€™d rather tell them after the early scan so I have something to show them even if itโ€™s a tiny blob! Ah I think they say to go on your last period date? But they confirm at the first scan anyway. When are you due? 6 weeks tomorrow โ˜บ๏ธ Yeah weโ€™ve been trying for over two years but I wasnโ€™t ovulating because of PCOS so I was under the fertility team had to lose a ton of weight to go on Clomid and unfortunately didnโ€™t get pregnant and then was taking a break before needing to lose more weight to be eligible for IVF. But as soon as we stopped the Clomid we got pregnant, I couldnโ€™t believe it!

Yeah probably all the hormones! I havenโ€™t measured before I think I was so focussed on the ovulation sticks etc I didnโ€™t really check anything else. Only took the first test as I didnโ€™t have any PMS symptoms.

How did it go with telling the news?!

@Jfb23 Iโ€™m guessing it varies from county to county maybe? I was just told to self refer through my local hospitals website and they booked me in with one of the community midwives but they said it would be the same midwife who will see me every time.

AmyEF · 26/02/2022 06:11

@Hjklasdfg Oh I am so so happy for you after 2 years that is such fantastic news! Crazy that it happened during the break but maybe just your body telling you it could work by itself and great you didn't have to go down the IVF route, it is amazing what they can do these days but it must be so tough on the body! Having a call with my friend this morning eek I am excited.

Also I randomly got an email from the hospital with my 12 week scan appointment late yesterday! Is it common to have an appointment before this?

Hjklasdfg · 26/02/2022 06:37

@AmyEF thank you, I realised I wrote two years it had been almost three years! But itโ€™s been a very long journey and it is crazy how I came off the medication and it happened ๐Ÿฅฐ although I think part of that was us not stressing as we werenโ€™t tracking ovulation or focusing on dates etc. Iโ€™m so happy though.

Ahh hope it goes well! Let us know how it goes โ˜บ๏ธ

There should be a midwife appointment too near that time? I have a midwife appointment booked but not the 12 week scan yet. I imagine youโ€™ll get the midwife booking appointment soon โ˜บ๏ธ Think itโ€™s between 8-12 weeks

TheBirdintheCave · 26/02/2022 08:20

Has anyone had any spotting? I had a little brown in my CM when I got up and just now a few tiny specs of red. Todayโ€™s cheapie was even darker and I still have the same symptoms as so Iโ€™m hoping itโ€™s just from the bean embedding deeper :/ I didnโ€™t get any at all with my son.

Sorry you are having spotting - itโ€™s so scary. Its my first so had nothing to compare it with or know what was normal/ acceptable.

I had spotting for most of this last week - creamy pinky brown (sorry if TMI). Spoke to my GP and Early pregnancy unit and they said spotting was quite normal and not to worry unless it was filling pads etc. As I was only about 5 weeks they said they couldnโ€™t scan and I just had to see how it goes. I was told to do another pregnancy test a week after the spotting started (which I will do on Sunday). Thankfully itโ€™s stopped I think and so I might book in for an early private scan to settle my mind next week.

I think my booking in appointment at 8 weeks is by telephone (and they canโ€™t give me a time slot and in my job I canโ€™t just answer a phone at any time) so donโ€™t know if I want to wait for that for further information.
