@Goodgoodthings thank you for that!
Oh I can definitely sympathise with the bloating 😅
I've seen some other posts suggest the belly bands are helpful too but got no idea how to wear these? 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 do they just hold stuff up? I'm such a noob with pregnancy stuff 😂

Goodgoodthings · 01/03/2022 15:44

@KatBee121 I think bands can definitely help later in pregnancy with posture and just generally supporting your belly but I can't say I tried them as my first pregnancy was 2020 so I was in a big T-shirt and shorts stuck at home 😅 very interested to hear other people's take on this though.

I did use support bands afterwards as I had an EMCS and they were great for holding me in and just generally made me feel more confident standing etc while my core was weaker.

stimpyyouidiot · 01/03/2022 16:36

Well I'm freaking out.

Did the combined screening and it came back as well 1/130. Midwife just called. Offered me 2 invasive tests which I was like automatic no about. Then offered me NIPT which isn't diagnostic but would give me better idea of risk.

Just had enough already and am really upset. I'm sure it's because of my age and the fact that im fat. My first daughters NT measurement was 3mm. She doesn't have it. This one had 1.8mm and im just like how ? How is it that high? Im sure my daughters result was quite high too but I can't remember or find my notes from last time. Going to have to get h to go in to the loft to check.

stimpyyouidiot · 01/03/2022 16:37

Also what really cracks me up is NOT ONCE did they weigh me in my last pregnancy. Not once. And I don't think I started all that differently.

Carebear99 · 01/03/2022 17:32

@stimpyyouidiot please try not to worry. I had the NIPT before the combined test I only get the combined to get my papp a result. My risk of downs and Edwards was high due to my age and bmi.

Downs risk 1 in 80
Edwards risk 1 in 166

I got normal results for all.

I know it's not the same but that's the reason I had the nipt first, it's much not reliable

Carebear99 · 01/03/2022 17:34

Also I thought 1.8mm NT is in the normal range?

stimpyyouidiot · 01/03/2022 17:35

It is. That's why I'm shocked. DD's was 3mm and I worried about her and she's fine. 1.8 is well within the limit.

Carebear99 · 01/03/2022 17:52

Oh OK sorry I see what you mean. Sorry.

This is why I didn't have the combined test to tell me my risk and just for papp a, are you going to have the nipt?

stimpyyouidiot · 01/03/2022 18:03

Yes they're offering me either CVS, amino or NIPT so I'm going to do the NIPT as the others are invasive

Carebear99 · 01/03/2022 19:02

The pancakes I had tonight did not agree with me, I've got diarrhea now. Anyone else react badly to certain foods?

madeleine85 · 01/03/2022 19:17

@110APiccadilly I have my checkup for 14 weeks with my doctor on Thursday this week which I am dreading. I wasn't in a mentally good space with my last pregnancy, with eating issues and over exercising, and my baby came very early. I am now in a very different mental space, I go to therapy, got help through my own choice etc. I felt as ready as I could be for this pregnancy. So far though I have seen two doctors who I did not know, and it was easier to discuss with a stranger/not feel judged. This checkup this time is with the doctor who oversaw my last pregnancy and runs the practice. I know my paranoia is probably unfounded and she will be a professional, but I am very anxious about it. It doesn't help that she is no nonsense and Dutch so things get lost in translation. 2 more days and I guess it will be done at least. Sorry that yours was so stressful, but hoping that it is a case of the plaster has been ripped off and the worst is done?

@TotoAnnihiliation now you have me craving tangfastics! So glad you found a food that works for you. Re. sickness, I liken it to training a baby to sleep all night, you get a few good days, and a few bad days, and then the good starts happening more and more, then you just have them occasionally. At least it sounds like you might be on the up and up! I am all about the gummy sweets right now. If i eat any chocolate it makes me feel so sick and then it puts me to sleep. Damn child hates what I love the most in this world!!

TotoAnnihiliation · 01/03/2022 19:20

@madeleine85 get the tangtastics, you know you won't regret it 😉

@stimpyyouidiot I am sorry to hear that the hospital have worried you. I've got everything crossed for you!

ShiningStarz · 01/03/2022 19:39

@KatBee121 I never tried under the bump but I'd recommend over the bump definitely! I got mine in H&M. The over the bump waistband was brilliant for after too as I had an unplanned c section.

@110APiccadilly glad scan well well. Sorry about the stress of the appt. It's awful replaying it but I guess that keeps it from happening again if staff are well up to speed with your history.

@stimpyyouidiot definitely get the NiPT, it's much more accurate. Hope your ok.

annlee3817 · 01/03/2022 20:24

@110APiccadilly sorry to hear you're appointment bought back the emotions from last time.

@KatBee121 I've got some over bump ones that I fold down

@TotoAnnihiliation they're even better when you get a super fresh pack, they're not as soft and sooo good lol

@ShiningStarz the wait is agonising isn't it? Fingers crossed you hear back tomorrow, mine took 9 working days.

@Tinadecember that's around the time the tiredness really hit for me, still feeling it at 14 weeks

annlee3817 · 01/03/2022 20:28

@Goodgoodthings I tried bump supports last time, but found them too tight, so gave up, am sure there are good ones around though

@madeleine85 sorry to hear you had a tough time with mental health last time, hope the consultant is better this time around, at least you kind of know what to expect with her. If not happy can you change?

@stimpyyouidiot hope you manage to speak to the midwife again tomorrow to get some further clarification.

mummysept22 · 01/03/2022 20:53

I know this is probably a common one but it's freaking me out. Short sharp pains around womb/hip area. Almost 11 weeks. Other then sore boobs and tiredness I have been symptom free. Had two scans already last one a week ago. Normal? X

madeleine85 · 01/03/2022 21:49

@annlee3817 thanks ❤️. I think it will be fine, I’m just neurotic about meeting her as she’s very stern and blunt. Ultimately she was a great OB to have for delivery so on that front I really trust/like her.

110APiccadilly · 01/03/2022 22:15

Thanks all for the kind words. I'm not sure why it hit me so hard - definitely harder than I was expecting it to. I'm feeling more on an even emotional keel now though. Best wishes and Flowers to everyone else who has to relive their experiences in their appointments.

stimpyyouidiot · 01/03/2022 22:23

Thanks everyone. I have the NIPT booked for Friday. Just so anxious about it all. I have been massively calm about it all until now. No worry about early scans or anything and just telling myself my body is doing the work. But now I'm like well fuck :(

My arm is so bruised from last time and I only have one good place to get blood from so I'll either be stuck loads of times or have to go where the bruise is :( this photo is from 4 days after. Worst phlebotomist ever.

Oh bum not sure why it did that twice

ShiningStarz · 02/03/2022 06:50

Morning my NiPT have come back low risk. Scan today.
@stimpyyouidiot glad you are booked in for fri, you should have your results back for end of following week. So much more accurate and reliable than what the scans show. Hope your ok

ShiningStarz · 02/03/2022 06:51

Ps for bruised arms! Drink lots of water before getting bloods done!

annlee3817 · 02/03/2022 07:08

@ShiningStarz great news!

Nannylp · 02/03/2022 08:07

@stimpyyouidiot I'm sorry you had worrying results from the combined screening. I'm in much the same boat here and awaiting results from the NIPT (I also have impressively bruised arms from a vicious blood draw!).
Try to remember that although your results are classed as high risk 1in130 is the same as a 0.7% chance of there being something wrong, so 99.3% chance that all is fine 🙂
My nuchal reading was 3mm so I've taken comfort from reading that your DD had the same and was fine.
I'm mostly really really annoyed that I didn't take the NIPT at 10 weeks, I knew my combined screen would likely be high due to my age.
Hoping you can keep your mind occupied until the results come back xx
