Oh @Lostintranslatio I hope you got some rest, love! If not, can you call in sick? If you absolutely must go in, try not to overdo it if possible and remember - you’ll get through it. You’ll be exhausted but you’ll survive.

@PeeAche glad everything is okay! Super scary though.

@nikita22 I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone through but it sounds like the right decision. Your babe is lucky to have such a strong mama. Hope you have some ‘real life’ support, too. It might not feel like it but it’s good to express what’s happened out loud. I was a victim of domestic abuse as a 19 year old (feels like a lifetime ago) and it took me a long time to admit the extent of it. Sending all the love and strength and always happy to lend an ear.

To think I was worried about baby not moving much yesterday. Now I’m awake as they pummel my insides 🥴🤣💕

RoseValleyRambles · 01/03/2022 07:16

@peeache that sounds terrifying and but being in hospital for it would have been awful. Hope it's a one off.

fpeg · 01/03/2022 07:39

@PeeAche glad to hear it's all ok and that baby girl is safe!

@nikita22 have you reported it to police? If he's being violent and you best to start having a file built up as apparently it helps a lot when it comes to any parenting battles x hope you are ok xx

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/03/2022 08:24

@nikita22 I’m so sorry, he sounds awful! It might be worth posting about it in the relationships section too, as many there will have had experience and can advise on practicalities of whether to put him on the birth certificate, co-parenting, child maintenance etc.

CurryandSnuggle · 01/03/2022 08:53

@nikita22 sorry you’re going through this. I can’t give loads of practical advice but I would not put him on the birth certificate as that gives him parental responsibility automatically. I agree about posting in relationships. Also maybe you could call Women’s Aid for advice. Xx

CurryandSnuggle · 01/03/2022 09:04

I’ve caught up on 20 pages 😂 excuse me for being late to the party this thread. Life is just ridiculously busy lately… on the plus my pregnancy is going super quick, I feel like I’ll blink and she’ll be here 😍

@PeeAche congratulations on your baby girl ❤️

@InvisibleDragon thanks for all the birth stats. It’s so hard to make a decision about elective section or VBAC, it does help to be armed with knowledge.

@mrkb I also watched this is going to hurt 😂 strangely it didn’t scare me but I think that’s because I’ve still got a few months until birth. If I watched it right before birth I’d have been pooping myself 😂💩

@Vimto1991 sorry you have overbearing in laws. My MIL isn’t pushy but when I had DS we moved house 5 days later and so they came down to help with the move. MIL ended up cuddling my DS so much I feel it’s a significant reason we struggled to bond. (Alongside problems with breastfeeding and birth). I think ut contributed to my PND. I don’t blame her as she was trying to help but I realised after how important those early weeks are. You can’t have someone hogging your space and baby as it may hinder your bond with your baby. It doesn’t matter what is convenient for her. You and baby are priority, and it is important.

@Roxystar23 I feel your pain! I keep waking up constantly with sore hips. I have to flip to the other side at least 10 times a night, if not more 😂

Prema112 · 01/03/2022 09:11

Gosh @PeeAche I've never had BH, I didn't know they could be so painful! So glad everything is ok and you did the right thing going in.

Anyone else's baby having daily hiccups?? I hadn't felt any until about 2 weeks ago and now he's hiccuping so much!

@nikita22 So good that you got out of that relationship, well done, you've done the best thing for you and your baby

Littlemilomoo · 01/03/2022 10:54

Congrats on you baby girl @PeeAche and so so glad everything is ok.

Ladies!! Online4baby is having a huge sale at the moment! I’ve spent a fortune this morning but for some really good bargains inc 40% off snuzpouch sleeping bags we plan to use, crib sheets etc and our cot bed was on offer too.

Prema112 · 01/03/2022 11:41

Anyone changed their deodorant since being pregnant and have a recommendation? I didn't realise mine has parabens in it which we are meant to avoid! The world of natural deodorants is new to me so any tips appreciated!

PeeAche · 01/03/2022 12:06

Absolutely awful nights sleep but pleased to be still full of healthy (very active) baby. Still reeling from the events of last night. 😳

Had my 24 week appointment this morning and baby has finally moved from transverse position which is such a relief because my stomach suddenly looks pregnant and not just "wide" 😅

Has anyone else started to actually think about... gulp... the birth now?

I'm still hoping for a vaginal delivery although my placenta is still covering my cervix. Think I may buy myself a hypnobirthing book too. I've heard nothing but good things about hypnobirthing!

Is anyone here going for antenatal classes? My only local one is £250!

@Prema112 I don't use deodorant 😳 I don't smell! I've just never really needed it so I don't bother. I'm one of those virtue-signalling, free love, planet hugging types with the henna and the bar soaps and the menstrual cups. So.. y'know. I'm a bit gross, maybe.

Octoblockisadick · 01/03/2022 12:44

@PeeAche I've been thinking about birth, but I'm not actually scared. There are lots of good hypnobirthing podcasts and Instagram pages, worth having a look at. So glad everything is OK too, I didn't realise braxton hicks could be painful!

@Prema112 not sure about hiccups, but every night when I get in bed my baby shimmy haha. Its hard to describe, but I imagine them doing the work dance inside my stomach, it kind of feels like that haha!

@nikita22 you are so brave leaving, well done! I would post in relationships about practicalities, the people there are so knowledgeable. I agree about not putting him on the birth cert though, but unless you were married I don't actually think you can without him being there?

yellowpinkbluegreen · 01/03/2022 13:46

@PeeAche I bought the digital course froM the positive birth company for hypnobirthing and I'm about 75% of the way through and have learnt so much. It's honestly awesome and you can do it at your own pace. Plus you can involve birthing partners for all or certain videos. Feel like I knew literally nothing beforehand so it's been great to learn about what to expect etc! It's not expensive either - think it's £39!

pregnancydiaries · 01/03/2022 14:05

@PeeAche so glad to hear everything is ok, although BH are meant to be baaaad so sorry it's started for you.

We've signed up to NCT courses. I heard they are birth focused and unfortunately I am elective section but my partner wanted me to use it to meet other mums. So essentially we've paid £250 for me to make friends 😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/03/2022 14:14

@pregnancydiaries I did NCT in my first pregnancy. I wasn’t interested in the birth part (I knew what I wanted and it wasn’t what the NCT encourage!) but we were lucky that our group were brilliant support. It was amazing to have that community as a new mother and I’m really glad I did it.
As an aside, a girl in our group did have an elective and the teacher adapted the course to cover that.

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/03/2022 14:17

@Prema112 I’m still using my Dove solid deodorant. I might be short sighted here, but the way I see it, we are exposed to so many chemicals as part of every day life (especially through food!) that I’m not sure some deodorant will move the needle. But I may be naive!

Flowerbug1994 · 01/03/2022 16:38

Afternoon Girls, anyone working from home majority to the time and struggling to stay active and also starting to feel a bit of lower back pain due to sitting on chair all day.
Anyone bought and lower back aids or anything that are working ?
Thanks

pregnancydiaries · 01/03/2022 17:01

@EarlGreywithLemon great! It's really mainly support from others I need as a FTM so good to hear it was helpful for you xx

CurryandSnuggle · 01/03/2022 17:08

@Prema112 I didn't realise we shouldn't use normal deodrant. I've still been using my usual one as well lol.

pregnancydiaries · 01/03/2022 17:10

Another one who hasn't changed from usual Nivea deodorant...and sometimes stealing DPs lynx because it just smells so good 😇

CurryandSnuggle · 01/03/2022 17:12

@PeeAche I've been thinking about it lots and opting for a VBAC, would like to try water birth with gas & air. I do get emotional when I think about how exhilarating it would be if I manage to give birth naturally, lol I keep daydreaming about it. Just really hoping for a positive birth experience. I definitely think I'll give hypnobirthing a go!

The real struggle is going to be DH getting DS to our parents (2 hours drive away) day or night, so I will need to get myself to the hospital if labour progresses quickly. I think he might meet the in laws half way, but would still be 1 hour half way and 1 hour back. Slightly worrying, not going to lie. But we've not really got anyone else local that we would rely on for something like that.

aus12 · 01/03/2022 17:57

@Prema112 I use Wild deodorant but not because I was worried about the chemicals. I got it because it’s refillable & the part you refill is compostable so better for the environment. I just get it from Sainsbury’s but you can subscribe online & get the refills sent out to you. I find a refill lasts me about 7 weeks.

@PeeAche NCT near me was £320!! I’ve signed up for bump and baby which was £250 but includes a baby first aid course. Is that an option in your area?

sunflower198 · 01/03/2022 18:21

I did NCT and they did cover c sections and what to expect along with roughly how many people would be in there and their roles.
I ended up with having an emergency c section and always remember feeling calmer in theatre because I knew why there were so many people in there!
Maybe let the leader know and hopefully they include it x

Prema112 · 01/03/2022 18:45

@EarlGreywithLemon I see your point, I'm wondering if I'm going a bit over board with changing deodorant... It's probably a bit late now anyway! @PeeAche wish I could get away with no deodorant!!

EarlGreywithLemon · 01/03/2022 19:33

@Prema112 I think no harm in trying, and it could be more environmentally friendly! Just as long as you don’t stress over it, as I think it’s very unlikely you’ve done any harm.

GrowBabyGrow · 01/03/2022 20:00

I've just started the birth uprising hypnobirthing course as one of my friend's shared her log in. Literally just started as in watched the intro video but it seems like it will be good.

We're doing bump to baby as well. From what friends with kids have said, if you're already doing your own reading/ hypnobirthing etc then antenatal classes are mostly a brill way to meet other expecting parents and anything you learn is a bonus. I guess hopefully it'll cement some learning and increase confidence too! It's so hard to get out there and meet new people that I think having the opportunity to get to know others in the area is (hopefully) worth it even if I do feel weird paying to make friends.

Is anyone starting to feel emotional about going on mat leave? I had a full on meltdown in a chat with my manager today about feeling (my own internal) pressure to be in the 'right' place come June so my career doesn't take a hit.
