@ALHCTPS second class citizens in our own bodies... yes! 😅

2 things about my relationship with my body that my husband doesn't understand but that I have tried to explain to him:

  1. How weird and confusing it feels that my body doesn't feel like it's my own anymore. It's primary purpose has gone from being my worldly vessel, to being an incubator for someone else.
  2. That I can throw myself wholeheartedly into point 1, and still feel weird and even a bit grossed out by it. At the same time.
Vimto1991 · 25/02/2022 07:57

To the guys with round ligament pain - I head you, rolling in bed, laughing, sneezing, all come with a loud OW!

@PeeAche gosh that’s horrible, are you able to complain to anyone and show them that photo? Can you move trusts at all?

To the guys with bad cravings, yeah I hear you, too. Got the DH to buy a big pack of pickled onion monster munch yesterday. So that’s my lunch sorted. 😂

Has anyone experienced this - it’s quite weird. I lie on my left side in bed as long as my hip can manage. When I move to my right baby kicks SO hard. I wonder if I am squishing them or something and they’re trying to let me know. 🙈 makes me feel so guilty I go back to my left side and deal with the hip pain. They have already got me under their thumb!!

Annabell1 · 25/02/2022 10:11

@PleaseSendNoodles I will start with disposables as well. Agree, we will have other things to worry about.
The ones I got are birth to potty, but most people say they start to fit properly at 10-12 pounds. No idea how quickly they'll reach that weight?

@Vimto1991 I'm still kinda trying to lie half on my stomach in bed, poor baby gets squashed I think he kicks a lot when I lie like that 😂

Anyone else desperately trying to avoid buying a maternity coat and so eking out their now too small regular winter coat?! I now can't zip mine up, so really hoping it's gonna get warmer soon!

pregnancydiaries · 25/02/2022 10:46

@Vimto1991 I feel you so much with feeling guilty for sleeping positions. This little one does the exact same except when I'm sort of "lounging" on my back (propped up against pillows) watching tv. I find myself talking to him "oh sorry son mummy will sit up properly" and then trying to sit upright for as long as possible 😂 we've lost it I'd say...

@PeeAche how's the burns today?xx

fpeg · 25/02/2022 11:47

@Prema112 that was the wrong link 🤦‍♀️ it's more maternity jackets in that link. I was looking more at a panel to expand my coat like this:

PeeAche · 25/02/2022 12:07

Burns are fine thanks, @pregnancydiaries

Annoying because (and I know this is gross) they are predominately at the bottom of my stomach. And due to stomach expansion, now press against my thighs when I sit down. 😅 Causing chafing. And, when in my night dress, a bit of sweating too. 😅

How is everyone today? I'm so glad it's Friday!!xxx

RoseValleyRambles · 25/02/2022 12:19

Ligament pain has finally eased up after 3 long days, and I'm so glad!

I also get lots of kicks when slouching in front of the TV. I wonder if it's just that things are more stretched so I feel him more?

Lostintranslatio · 25/02/2022 12:46

When did you all start feeling round ligament pain? I'm 22 weeks and Ive felt few times. Wondering if there's a point where I'll have it more often.

Vimto1991 · 25/02/2022 13:02

@Lostintranslatio for a while now, I’m 25 weeks but I’m sure I felt it before 20 if I stood up too quick or had a big sneeze. It’s not been too bad the past few days but I’ve definitely grown… because my belly button is starting to look freaky!!

fpeg · 25/02/2022 13:16

@Lostintranslatio I've had it intermittently since early on, usually that I've sat up too quickly, sneezed/coughed without preparing myself. I'm 25 weeks now and have occasionally had it in the last week if she's nestled herself into an uncomfortable position, but luckily for me still nothing that is consistent. Someone I work with said they had it the whole way through the pregnancy as a constant companion, so I think some people do just suffer and others not so much ☺️

fpeg · 25/02/2022 13:17

Sorry baby brain out in force today... I'm 26 not 25 weeks 😂

PleaseSendNoodles · 25/02/2022 14:06

Thanks @ALHCTPS your post cheered me up this morning.

@Annabell1 that sounds like a reasonable time to switch to cloth. I guess it depends on how big they are to begin with…

destiEos · 25/02/2022 14:07

@RoseValleyRambles also overbought, probably anyway - everything is still in boxes/bags until we get around to tidying up the study/nursery. I don't actually know what we have 😂

@PleaseSendNoodles @Lostintranslatio yeah, I think it might all be a bit much to start with, so disposables for me too until I figure it all out. I'm still no 1 laundry person here, DH is going to get a rude awakening when I'm too pregnant to do those sort of bending tasks anymore! He's been warned but...

@PeeAche re: my body, I think my husband does understand and is slightly wary himself. Also, I am dying to have my body back. As amazing as it is doing this extraordinary thing of growing a human, it is indeed also weird, gross and just terrifying sometimes 🥺

@Prema112 my coat didn't do up before I got pregnant 😢 I was going to buy a new one, but haven't got around to it - heading to Canada tomorrow though, so might see if I can find something there. I'm guessing they're good at winter coats 😬 Will probably did of hypothermia in the meantime, I think it's -15 there at the moment 🥶

PeeAche · 25/02/2022 14:54

@Lostintranslatio My RLP started early, at around 16 weeks. It's eased off a little this week but I still get shooting pains if I cough a lot or especially if I stand up too fast.

PeeAche · 25/02/2022 14:56

@RoseValleyRambles I also get kicked more when I'm lying down / slouched in an almost lying position. I'm sure it's the way the walls of my uterus arrange themselves in that position.

My kicks are so strong now. I love it. Mostly. Except for the cervix kicks.

PeeAche · 25/02/2022 15:01

@pregnancydiaries

Did you have a Kit Kat for breakfast??

Asking the real questions.

Prema112 · 25/02/2022 15:58

@fpeg Oo that looks quite good thanks! @destiEos Wow Canada! Have an amazing freezing time!

InvisibleDragon · 25/02/2022 16:46

@Prema112 I'm wearing my husband's coat - hoping it keeps going for a few more weeks at least!

@PeeAche I think my husband definitely does not understand how stressful it is to be carrying another human being around inside you! He's extremely laid back - the baby is fine, he'll be here in June, we'll meet him then ... Whilst I'm stressing around because I haven't felt him kick for 3 hours and what if he died? And is it my fault because I ate too many mini eggs?

Back to channelling Winnie the Pooh for me: And what if he didn't?

destiEos · 25/02/2022 16:53

@Prema112 thanks, looking forward to being away from it all :D And snow!

@InvisibleDragon also stealing hubby's padded jacket whenever I get nippy :D

@pregnancydiaries I managed a half pack of hobnobs for breakfast yesterday (chocolate, of course) and somehow finished all but one during the rest of the day. In fact, now I think about it - who leaves one poor, solitary choccy-hob-nob all on it's own?! I'd better go find it.

Veggie lasagne for dinner tonight, use up some of the veg drawer and try and throw something semi-healthy into my body for the little one..

pregnancydiaries · 25/02/2022 19:25

@PeeAche the fact I even had to ask how the burns were is shocking...but I am glad they are ok, minus the chaffing.

I didn't just have one Kit Kat for breakfast, I had 2. And they were the four finger ones too. Then I had a bacon roll smothered in tomato ketchup, to wear off the sugar, all about balance!

Just back from an afternoon with our little 5 month old niece. Crazy how much they've already outgrown the baby stage by then!xx

rathernotshare · 25/02/2022 20:47

Hope you ladies are all doing well Thanks been a bit swept away with life but still bobbing along somewhere between 25 and 26 weeks (losing track now 😳)! Starting to find it a bit hard emotionally, under the perinatal health team and been advised to self refer for MH services. Last time I did that I was 'urgent' and it took 2 years to be seen, so not sure how much good that will do! Just want to lock my bedroom door and lay there for a week or two ☹️

Lostintranslatio · 25/02/2022 21:23

@rathernotshare I'm very sorry to hear you are not feeling well. It is ridiculous there is such long waiting list for an important issue like MH 😤

RoseValleyRambles · 25/02/2022 21:44

@rathernotshare I'm sorry you're feeling down. Do you have anyone you can talk to in case the NHS puts you in another zillion year list? We're here if you have anxieties or worries you want to share. X
