I got my 20 week scan appointment through on the day I had my dating scan. This is a level of efficiency I am not used to Grin

Isonthecase · 14/02/2022 14:52

Scan complete, 1 baby (thank goodness!!) and new due date is the 23rd August! They booked me in for the 20 week one today too, early April!

@Mufflette I think I'll be the same as had a colposcopy before I found out I was pregnant. They said potentially need a cervical measurement at the 20 week scan but seemed much more relaxed about it than I felt after having to sign the scary paperwork about risks!

seathistle · 14/02/2022 18:57

Hi everyone! I found the new thread 😅 so lovely to see everyone's scan news. Congrats to all.

DH has tested positive for covid. Feeling quite nervous about that. Kind of a bit like a sitting duck! Hopefully it won't be too bad?

20 week scan is on 17th March. The scanxiety is already creeping in and it's weeks away. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mufflette · 14/02/2022 19:47

Great news @netflixandnochill!

And to @Isonthecase too! I'm glad your cervical scan is 20 weeks too, I was starting to worry mine was late! Just another thing to worry about that in all likelihood will probably be fine Smile

Isonthecase · 14/02/2022 20:29

@Mufflette yep, I called them to ask and they were very vague but said I might need one then. Apparently a consultant would be involved.

squatternutbosh12 · 14/02/2022 22:47

Been catching up on your posts.. So pleased to hear those of you who’ve had scans have had good news and seen happy babies!! Really wishing to time passes quickly for those still waiting for scan day!
Had my first consultant appointment this morning which was really good, lots of stuff in place to make sure no hiccups- got to start taking aspirin now and have some extra growth scans then c section at 39 weeks!!
Feels good to have a plan and definitely feel well looked after! But feel so real now 😱 in a good way of course!!

squatternutbosh12 · 14/02/2022 22:48

…I ended my good day by being sick in the shower though so that wasn’t so fabulous 😂 👏

madeleine85 · 15/02/2022 00:02

@squatternutbosh12 that is gret about your appointment! Nice to know you will get a nice early birth! With morning sickness, the showers are the absolute pits. I remember throwing up in mine constantly with my DD. This one is better, but I have to really keep the heat low, and time it well. Pregnancy... what a joy!

squatternutbosh12 · 15/02/2022 00:33

@madeleine85 wow I thought it was just me!! I was thinking how on Earth can a hot shower make me feel more sick but it really, really does! 🤢 it’s annoying because a hot shower is the only thing that helps my horrendous headaches!
I’m currently sat upright in bed unable to lie flat to sleep without stomach contents finding their way into my mouth, what a time to be alive! 😂

netflixandnochill · 15/02/2022 07:47

Waking up this morning, I’m a little disheartened about my scan yesterday. Everything was fine (and I feel incredibly grateful and lucky) but I have a problem with the care/service.

I was told at my harmony to give my results to my gp. I haven’t quite got round to that but I added them to my file. Yesterday, at my 12 weeks scan (actually 13 weeks) the sonographer said they weren’t going to do bloods as I’d had a harmony? I thought harmony was above and beyond the nhs care (and totally unrelated as the systems don’t talk to each other) and think I would have felt more comfortable if they’d done bloods to double check everything was in line with harmony. Levels may have changed, results might be inaccurate etc.

Has anyone experienced this? Should I book an appointment asap for bloods? Advice massively appreciated! Bit annoyed with myself that I just said ok and that worries me for future appointments as I find them quite overwhelming/emotional.

mamaof2girls · 15/02/2022 08:09

I have now tested positive this morning so not good like! X

squatternutbosh12 · 15/02/2022 08:17

@netflixandnochill I had private harmony and my midwife was very clear with me that I was still entitled to ALL the usual NHS screening, including the scan and bloods, or could choose to have some or none of it. Personally I do think there is a value in having the usual nhs screening as well, as they test the hormone PAPP-A. If you have a low level of this - regardless of your downs screening risk - you usually get different management eg aspirin or extra growth scans. Not everyone chooses to have it if they have harmony, but the midwife mentioned it to me so I could choose. I chose to have them done.
If you want them done I would phone and request to come back ASAP and have them (as they’re not possible after a certain timeframe, maybe 14 weeks but don’t quote me on that). You are entitled to it and you can get PALS involved if you’re meeting resistance.

squatternutbosh12 · 15/02/2022 08:22

Just to clarify one point @netflixandnochill - they did say I couldn’t choose to JUST have the PAPP-A rather than the other blood test HCG, as they come as a package. Personally I wanted both so I could have the extra reassurance of low risk nhs downs screening as well, although there is an argument that this can lead to unnecessary anxiety if it comes back high risk when you’ve already had a low risk Harmony (as there are many more false positives with nhs screen). All just personal choice at the end of the day.

netflixandnochill · 15/02/2022 08:22

Thanks @squatternutbosh12 I definitely want all the tests and screening that is available, especially after a loss last year. Will call them today. Thank you!

netflixandnochill · 15/02/2022 08:23

Get well soon @mamaof2girls 💐

CoalCraft · 15/02/2022 09:10

@netflixandnochill Sorry you didn't have a great experience at your scan, it's not great at all that they fobbed you off more testing when you are entitled to it.

@mamaof2girls Oh no! How are you feeling? Most people I know barely notice covid these days so fingers crossed you won't have it too badly!

I'm 13 weeks today - hello 2nd trimester! Have my scan day after tomorrow... Have a feeling today and tomorrow are going to draaaag Grin

mamaof2girls · 15/02/2022 09:14

@CoalCraft well consider I had the booster 10 days ago. I have a pounding sore head barely ate and can't stop coughing! So not so good if am honest haha! X

LiMc1 · 15/02/2022 09:20

@mamaof2girls

I have now tested positive this morning so not good like! X
Oh no! I recovered from covid from last week. Spent 4 days feeling like absolute crap and then day 5 felt normal. I've had it before (last year) and hadn't had any vaccines- I suffered awfully then. This time round triple vax and it felt like a really bad case of flu. Midwife was very good and advice was helpful so I would say to ring them if worried. Hope you feel okay xx
CoalCraft · 15/02/2022 09:33

@mamaof2girls Oh dear, sorry to hear, hope it doesn't last too long!

squatternutbosh12 · 15/02/2022 10:22
