I've definitely missed people, but hoping I've got everyone who's been active recently. Apologies if not!

Donimo · 27/06/2022 21:18

@LemonyT congratulations

I have had good news today. My twin girls maybe able to come home from neonatal at the end of the week. They are still having difficulty feeding and will come home with the out reach nursing team to help with tube feeding. But happy that they should be home soon

LemonyT · 27/06/2022 21:21

@Donimo amazing news!!! Safe and secure at home as a family. So pleased for you xxx

@CurbsideProphet I've not dared try the Gaviscon since the last time - took a teaspoon worth standing by kitchen counter and immedietly vomited the contents of my stomach all over the counter 😳

@Porridgeislife 😮I thought omeprazole was prescription only, never knew you could just buy the stuff! YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER. If it improves things I'm calling my child Porridge 😆 Also wow, can't believe you're little one will be here so soon! Good luckf ro next week mumma!

@LemonyT Congratulations! 🍾 Hope you're ok after the forceps x

@Donimo How lovely they should be coming home soon together!

TheSnufflet · 28/06/2022 19:29

@Donimo that's fantastic news - even if they need to go home with the tubes at least they will be home with you x

@Holskey @LemonyT congratulations to the both of you!! Isn't science wonderful ♥️

@2mumlife hope you're feeling better soon and fingers crossed the OTC omeprazole will do the trick 🤞

Well I've had a hell of a day, I went to my last routine midwives appointment at 9am and after lots of prodding am now on antenatal ward being treated for preeclampsia which turned up very suddenly today at 35+5 😬 looks like I'm very unlikely to make it to my planned section date at 37+0!

2mumlife · 29/06/2022 09:36

@TheSnufflet Oh no! Did you suspect yourself or was it a shock? I hope you're feeling ok and that you're able to get some rest despite being on the ward. Fingers crossed for making it to the 37 weeks.

CurbsideProphet · 01/07/2022 21:13

Hope you're getting on ok @TheSnufflet

Hi everyone

I spoke to a really nice lady yesterday, she's the midwife team leader and was responding to a complaint I made regarding my due date being put down as 3 weeks late because no one seems to know how to date IVF pregnancies. She was very understanding and said she was going to talk to the team so that they know a transfer date isn't an LMP! That's all I wanted, an acknowledgement that having to argue about a due date isn't what you want and that they'll try to be better for other people in a similar position.

All I need now is for January to hurry up and sod off so my scan date gets here. It'll be at 13 weeks which is mildly annoying but considering the due date cock up it could have been a lot worse!

Hi, newbie here. First ivf round abroad and after positive tests 10dp5dt I've been worried sick as my hcg has been low and slow to rise. I noticed your comment about dating ivf pregnancies and I know its more tricky but how are they dated? From online calculators they put me at 6 weeks last Saturday but when I went for an early scan the sonographer said I was no where near. I'm more worried as I don't think its viable and that's more likely why they couldn't see anything but I would like to understand how to date it so I know where I meant to be. Hope you can help

DaffodilSunshine · 02/07/2022 18:16

@ivfabroad if you had a 5 day transfer, count back 19 days from that and count that as the first day of your last period for dating purposes

Donimo · 02/07/2022 18:21

@ivfabroad I think on the day of embryo transfer you are just over 2 weeks pregnant (3 day embryo) 2 weeks, 3 days (5 day embryo) 2 weeks, 5 days. So add 2 weeks onto how many weeks you are post embryo transfer.

2mumlife · 03/07/2022 16:52

@ivfabroad There are lots of online ivf due date calculators as well which will do the counting for you. Best of luck 🤞

I hope everyone is getting on ok, especially with this heat 🥵 it's hot enough here in the NW so must be baking in the SE.

ToCaden · 11/07/2022 10:46

@CurbsideProphet 35 weeks pregnant here in south wales. Every time I peek at my phone, temperature has crept up another degree.

Looking forward to maternity leave.

CurbsideProphet · 11/07/2022 11:07

@ToCaden hopefully you don't have too long to go? 🤞🏻 I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and terrible with hot weather when I'm not pregnant. At least I WFH so don't have to get in a hot car or train. My hot house is bad enough 😬

aletterfromseneca · 11/07/2022 11:09

Going in to get prepared for first attempt at implantation tomorrow. Got six embryos from this first round of collection so fingers crossed

Jazz234 · 11/07/2022 11:28

@aletterfromseneca good luck for tomorrow! I will keep everything crossed for you. X

ToCaden · 11/07/2022 11:57

@CurbsideProphet three weeks of work including this one just started. Thankfully used annual leave to cut down my last work weeks, so at least they're short weeks.

@aletterfromseneca good luck!

2mumlife · 12/07/2022 08:49

@CurbsideProphet Lucky its not so bad up in Scotland lol but working from home makes a massive difference (though though downside to having all the windows open as wide as possible is I've already had to shoo a fledgling out that flew in the kitchen window this morning!). 32 weeks and I'm working full time up until 39 weeks so still awhile for me to go

CurbsideProphet · 12/07/2022 09:31

@2mumlife wow all the way to 39 weeks! I've got leave saved so I can finish at 34 weeks and then technically start mat leave at 38 weeks.
Scotland has had warm weather too hasn't it. I just keep thinking it's tough keeping me cool, but at least at home I can keep drinking water and then weeing every 30mins!

2mumlife · 12/07/2022 11:05

@CurbsideProphet I wfh too which is why I'm working up to 39 weeks. I'm not actually starting matleave until my NHS due date (but my actual due date off IVF dates is a bit later). I think I'd go a bit loopy just sat at home for weeks waiting to give birth lol so I'm stockpiling my annual leave to take at the end of SMP instead

CurbsideProphet · 12/07/2022 11:49

@2mumlife that makes sense. My leave year runs Jan-Dec so I can't carry over leave from 2022 to 2023. I'll be ready to finish as I listen to people's problems and it can be a strain.

I had a big breakthrough recently. I walked into a supermarket and randomly bought some baby grows and vests! We've only bought a few things as a "reward" after the 12 and 20 week scans. This was the first time I thought "oh these look useful, I'll buy them" 😯

2mumlife · 12/07/2022 15:17

@CurbsideProphet My leave year is off as runs from 1st August - 31st July, so I'm basically using nearly all the leave for next year to start getting money flowing again instead of unpaid mat leave, then I'll be doing a 6 weeks phased return using annual leave from 22-23 leave year a bit from 23-34 leave year. I had to make a spreadsheet to figure it all out! That's lovely you went and got yourself some bits! One thing I would say that people told me is how much STUFF people will give you - I didn't believe it and had started getting a few bits, but its completely true - a friend is moving and unloaded their attics worth of baby stuff onto us (going up to age 2!), my sister has been flinging bags of clothes at us as her son has grown out of things. It really is ridiculous. Only things we've had to buy new are a new mattress + mattress protector for a (not new) next2me crib, 2 pairs of maternity shorts for the summer and some reuseable nappies (and even some of them are second hand). My parents gifted us a new car seat, and a very close friend of mine who doesn't want children so will be like a special aunty wanted to gift us a new crib for when they move into own room. Other than that we've bought a few bits of clothes but really didn't need to, and I need to get myself some nursing bras. Its nice to choose a few bits yourself, but you really will be surprised how much stuff other people will try to give you!

CurbsideProphet · 12/07/2022 18:46

@2mumlife ah that's worked out well. I think I need a spreadsheet to work out my own annual leave / maternity leave / statutory maternity pay situation!
We don't have many people to give us stuff as friends / family are all past the baby stage. My sister has a couple of bags of clothes in her loft.
A few people have bought us clothes as presents in the past couple of weeks. My parents want to give us the money for car seat / pram. Apart from that we're buying everything. I'll prob have a look for local NCT second sales in the summer!
