I've definitely missed people, but hoping I've got everyone who's been active recently. Apologies if not!

@Donimo wow your girls are such a good weight for 33+6, congratulations! (and omg carrying the weight is insane isn't it? I literally look ridiculous at the moment)

That's good to hear that they only needed oxygen for a bit and you didn't even have the injections. I'm really lucky in that my local hospital is a Level 3 NICU and they can do the surgery there without having to transfer her somewhere else, but it's still all massively daunting, obviously (and I don't think they do the tours of NICU at the moment because of COVID so I am only basing what it will be like on YouTube videos). Have you been given a timeframe for when they might leave SCBU?

GodspeedJune · 16/06/2022 18:04

@LemonyT Ah what a pain! Hopefully you won’t be too poorly with it. Is your DH testing positive too?

@2mumlife I’m very envious of your week away! Sounds perfect. I’m starting to read up about birth and would be keen to avoid induction and sweeps too.

@Donimo Congratulations on your baby girls! It must be awful to not be with them but so pleased to hear that they’ve arrived safely and are doing well. The infection sounds nasty - I hope you aren’t too poorly with it.

@CurbsideProphet Was it a standard dipstick urine test with FMU? My midwife sent me home with an empty pot as she said even a bowl of cereal before the appt can skew the results, so to always bring a FMU sample in. Hopefully the next test is negative for you.

@TheSnufflet What a worrying time for you, all the tests and appointments sound really stressful. Must be incredibly daunting, sending you best wishes for when the twins arrive and hope you’ve got lots of lovely people around taking care of you too.

A little update from me, we had our 20 week scan on Friday. Can honestly say it was the first time I’ve felt excited - once the scan was done that is. Obviously the usual anxiety and stress beforehand. We also found out we’re having a baby girl - would have been happy with either as I’m sure most of us are on this thread. But I’m starting to finally believe this is happening and we may actually have a baby at the end of it all.

The sonographer was happy with all the measurements but when I got home I realised that baby’s tummy is on the 93rd percentile! I’m also gaining weight with gay abandon despite being slim all my life before. Going to speak to the midwife about it and try not to worry for now.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone out. Hope you’re all managing to enjoy the sunshine and not finding it too arduous!

CurbsideProphet · 16/06/2022 22:13

@GodspeedJune that's great news about your scan 💖 I know what you mean about getting passed the 20 weeks and finally thinking that you are actually going to have a baby. I'm 22 weeks and I've just started looking online at pram options, as it felt too much earlier on.
We went away last week and I kept seeing myself in the mirror and thinking "oh my christ I look massive!" We don't have a mirror in our bedroom at home so unless I go into the spare room I don't see myself. My bump has really popped out in the last 2 weeks and has caught me by surprise.

It was just a dipstick this afternoon as they keep checking me for UTI. I had actually eaten a bowl of coco pops an hour earlier for lunch (couldn't face making anything proper!). I've been asked to take FMU next week to be on the safe side, so hopefully that will be all clear 🤞🏻

GodspeedJune · 16/06/2022 22:38

Thanks CurbsideProphet and I know what you mean about feeling now is a good time to start looking at things. We haven’t got any equipment yet, have you seen any prams that take your fancy?

I’m sure you don’t look massive! It’s so funny seeing a different figure in the mirror isn’t it?

Will keep my fingers crossed that it was just the coco pops! Good luck x

Holskey · 17/06/2022 00:30

Wow, a lot of updates!

Firstly congratulations @Donimo! I'm so sorry you're not able to be with your babies right now. That must feel so unnatural and my heart goes out to you. I hope you are all doing well and that you get to be together very soon.

@TheSnufflet sounds like you've been through a lot of turmoil and worry. I'm glad some of those worries have been put to rest, and I wish the very best for your little girl's treatment when she's born.

@LemonyT sorry to hear you have covid. What poor timing. My fingers crossed for you that you recover quickly and are fully better in time for your baby's arrival.

@2mumlife Did you hear about your GTT results? My baby is big but I would decline induction for that. I'd also decline induction for well-managed GD. I'm being induced anyway for good reasons, but like you, I'd prefer to let baby come when ready if possible.

@CurbsideProphet and @GodspeedJune I'm glad it's feeling more real for you both. At 37+3 now I feel like I've never not been pregnant 😂 which is so weird when I reflect upon the years I feared I'd never get so much as a bfp. @curbside good luck in avoiding GD, @godspeed congratulations on your girl! My girl's tummy is over 95th centile according to last scan. I'm not hugely concerned as they can be very inaccurate.

Hope you're doing well @Cakecakecheese

I'll have had my baby by the time I come back here!

@LemonyT I'm so sorry you've now got covid. I've also avoided it for the past 2 years so you must be gutted to get it now. I hope you recover soon. My understanding is that if your DH doesn't have symptoms he's under no obligation to test or isolate. I don't think he is now even if he did have symptoms.
My hospital recently relaxed its rules around covid and doesn't require tests or masks in maternity. Might be worth checking if your maternity department has its own Facebook page (mine does) as that's an easy place to find up to date rules / regulations. I find it easier than the hospital's own website.

Donimo · 17/06/2022 09:33

@TheSnufflet they have said they may need to stay in till their due date. But they have also said there can be the possibility of me learning to tube feed and some other bits from home and support with the neonatal outreach team treat at home. But would obviously need to be out of the incubator and maintaining temperatures to consider that option.

@Holskey good luck with your birth hoping your and your baby are well post

GodspeedJune · 17/06/2022 13:04

Thank you @Holskey and how exciting that your baby girl will be here imminently! Sending you the best of luck for the birth and can’t wait to hear that she has arrived 🎀

2mumlife · 17/06/2022 14:47

@Donimo Firstly, congratulations! I'm so sorry to hear you're not able to see your wee ones but I'm sure they're taking excellent care of them on your behalf. Hope you're all home together soon x

@CurbsideProphet Don't understand how IVF can impact GD? going to need to look that one up! Hopefully the glucose in the urine was a once off. Hopefully you can avoid GD. I'm feeling lucky that my GTT came back normal this morning, though I'm iron deficient despite taking iron in a multivit, so being put on more iron supplements. I don't eat red meat and have had anaemia before so I'm not really that surprised to be honest. Might explain why I'm knackered, but I thought that was just pregnancy!

@TheSnufflet Oh geez, that will have been a worrying time getting all those tests done. At the end of the day, its better everyone knows about the blockage and can be prepared. Hopefully everything will go smoothly after birth and you'll get your babies home as soon as possible afterwards. Really not long for you to go! Keep everything crossed you make it to 37 weeks xx

Holskey · 20/06/2022 15:42

My baby girl was born healthy and happy yesterday 🥰I was 2 minutes pregnant when I first joined thread 1 of this convo and soo much has gone on since then, much of it stressful and unpleasant, so it feels like it's been a long road. But I've gone from totally infertile to a mum of two under two and I could not be more grateful.I'll still be catching updates and wishing the best for all of you ❤️ @Donimo I hope you're all doing well

CurbsideProphet · 20/06/2022 18:43

That's absolutely lovely news @Holskey 💖 Congratulations 💖

Porridgeislife · 20/06/2022 19:15

Congratulations @Donimo and @Holskey on your little girls! That’s such lovely news, the first of the IVF babies.

I’ve been a bit quiet as we moved house & I started a new job in my third trimester, but I’ve had an ok pregnancy and am booked in for an ELCS in 2 weeks. The consultant offered me a 39w induction or c-section and basically just said he would lean towards an ELCS due to my previous surgeries.

Since then baby has tracked huge for head circumference at 28w & 32w (>99%) and then last week at 36w her tummy had grown massively up the chart so I’ve been diagnosed very late with gestational diabetes & will find out tomorrow if I need to go on insulin.

I knew that frozen transfer babies were typically large for gestational age but she has really taken the biscuit! But glad to be finally near the finishing line.

Donimo · 20/06/2022 19:47

Congratulations @Holskey I hope you and your daughter are both doing well

GodspeedJune · 22/06/2022 08:04

Congratulations Holskey that’s wonderful news!

Cakecakecheese · 22/06/2022 16:32

@Holskey Congratulations!

CurbsideProphet · 23/06/2022 17:54

It's so lovely seeing baby news in the thread 🙂
I'm 23 weeks 2 days now. Finally started feeling proper kicks on Sunday which was just magical 💙 I was worried having an anterior placenta would mean another few weeks. I probably don't feel kicks as strongly as if I didn't have the anterior placenta, but I now I know it's definitely him not just wind!

DH and I are struggling a little bit as this time last year we had just been through 1 unsuccessful fresh transfer and were knee deep in egg collection time, heading towards a fresh transfer which ended in MMC at 6 weeks. It can be hard to put all that sadness aside and not fall off the worry cliff (as I call it).

On the positive side we have booked antenatal classes for August 😳

2mumlife · 24/06/2022 16:15

@Holskey Congratulations!!!! Hope you're both doing well x

@Porridgeislife Not long to go! Don't give my FET baby any ideas - they estimated me at the 90th centile last week at 28 weeks :(

@CurbsideProphet Just focus on the positives you have now. We're also doing antenatal classes in August :)

Unfortunately I tested positive for covid today - had been really tired last 2 days. First time I've had it and feeling a bit miserable as lying down brings on my heartburn, so spending the day semi-slumped. Called midwife but not heard anything back so not sure if there is anything in particular I need to be doing? Bit worrying I've caught it in third trimester as internet talks about it being the most likely time in pregnancy you'd have issues, and about preterm birth and things...

CurbsideProphet · 26/06/2022 10:10

@2mumlife I'm sorry you've got covid. Have you heard from your midwife? You could always call assessment/triage for advice as at least someone will definitely answer th

CurbsideProphet · 26/06/2022 10:15

Stupid tablet cutting me off. I meant that someone is always there to answer the phone so you will be able to talk to a midwife if you haven't heard from yours yet.

On the heartburn front, I've found the double pronged attack with omeprazole twice a day and gaviscon before bed is working better than just one or the other. Try to make sure you're in a gentle slope with your pillows. I've finally slept 2 nights on 2 pillows instead of 5 so hoping my heartburn is finally under control.... But of course now my lower back is in agony for no reason 🙄

2mumlife · 27/06/2022 14:22

@CurbsideProphet Never heard back from my midwifery team, but seem to be getting better so I've just left it. Gaviscon makes me vomit and I've still not been prescribed omeprazole despite having heartburn since the start of the second trimester.... I've just had to learn to live with it. Its normally not bad at night as I just make sure not to have anything hours before bed but last night was thirsty in middle of night so had a drink and that obviously set it off which wasn't fun.

CurbsideProphet · 27/06/2022 15:22

@2mumlife no one would prescribe omeprazole for you 😳😔 It's completely harmless for baby so how unfair for you. Gaviscon is just vile. I started being able to swallow it from 20 weeks, but only before bed. Once per day is my absolute limit!
I'm glad your covid symptoms are reducing. It's a shame no one gave you a courtesy call, but at least you're starting to feel better now.

Porridgeislife · 27/06/2022 16:14

@2mumlife you can buy 20mg omeprazole from Superdrug (called Pyrocalm) on the shelf. I was too lazy to get it prescribed so I’ve been taking this for the 3rd trimester as I had such bad post nasal drip from my reflux that it was making me vom.

I got through my c-section arrival time (a very early 7am) for next week - it’s feeling very very real now 😳The idea that I’ll have a baby by this time next week is a bit nuts.

LemonyT · 27/06/2022 16:18

Hi guys - just popping back here to say my baby boy was born on 22/06 weighing a weeny 6lb 13 oz despite the GD. Labour was really quick to progress- when I got to hospital I was already 8 cm dilated!!! Pushed for a while but in the end he wasn’t budging and heart rate dropped so had to have a bit of help with forceps. Got to hosp 6.30 and he was in my arms by 11.30!!!

@Holskey congrats on your baby girl!!!

Wishing everyone a healthy happy pregnancy- I can’t quite believe my baby is here!!! IVF is in my eyes, a miracle for some and I’ll always be grateful for it x

best to all

lemony xxxxxx

CurbsideProphet · 27/06/2022 17:14

@LemonyT that's lovely news 💐 💐congratulations 💐💐 hope you're enjoying your first week with your boy 🙂

GodspeedJune · 27/06/2022 17:14

That’s fantastic news LemonyT congratulations on your baby boy! He’s tiny, I bet he’s absolutely gorgeous.

Hear, hear. I still have a way to go but even now am so amazed that science has got us to this point. We were told natural conception was impossible. So very grateful to the pioneers of IVF.
