I'll give them a call tomorrow and get booked in. Do you feel like crap afterwards? Blush

ChildOfFriday · 25/01/2022 18:59

My 20 week scan went well- the sonographer was happy with all the measurements but our little one was comfy all curled up so I had to wiggle my bum around to try to encourage him to move! She managed to get all of the measurements eventually Smile

@DaimDillyDoo I also didn't get the whooping cough vaccine today at my 20 week scan as there wasn't a vaccinator there, but they said to book it in with the GP. I think you can have it up to 32 weeks though.

rathernotshare · 25/01/2022 19:01

@DaimDillyDoo HR have triggered an absence review based on the absence length and I've said to my manager hold on , they aren't allowed to trigger it because it's pregnancy related. He said well as far as I'm concerned pregnancy sick is the same as any other and will be treated as such. HR are refusing to change anything. The union are going to love this one!

Ps, feel fine after my jab but let's see tomorrow. Hoping I don't feel rough as darent take any sick now!

DaimDillyDoo · 25/01/2022 19:30

@ChildOfFriday ah thank you, I wasn't even offered mine at my 20 week scan so probably the same situation as yours. I'll book in tomorrow :)

@rathernotshare it absolutely shouldn't be treated as such (apart from sickness reporting etc) It makes me cringe that there are organisations in this day and age who aren't clued up on this stuff, and subsequently say stuff like that to staff 🤯

GrowBabyGrow · 25/01/2022 19:33

I was absolutely fine after my whooping cough jab! I was a bit worried because its also got tetanus, in it and I've felt a bit grim after tetanus boosters before but I wasn't affected at all this time.

@rathernotshare, that is so rubbish that work is treating you like that and I'm surprised HR aren't sticking up for you. They're going to have a big old shock when they refresh themselves on what the law says

rathernotshare · 25/01/2022 20:28

It's just causing me stress, it's not like I'm a mick taker, it's my first instance of sick in 3 years and I was in hospital having an operation to potentially save my babies life! Only found out 2 days ago it wasn't cancer. Feels so unnecessary to drag me down this route.

czycoup · 25/01/2022 20:33

@DaimDillyDoo the whooping cough is any time after 16 weeks up to birth I believe. I think it's something you have to book yourself rather than get an appointment for.

czycoup · 25/01/2022 20:34

@rathernotshare absolute fuckers. As easy as it is for me to say but try not to stress because you know you are in the right. I'm glad you have a union, I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that convo!

ChildOfFriday · 25/01/2022 20:36

Sending love @rathernotshare. They are truly dreadful Thanks

AlbatrossSociety · 25/01/2022 20:41

@rathernotshare that is outrageous and absolutely no way you should 'take it on the chin'. They're about to learn not to mess with a pregnant woman, I hope you've got some good people fighting your corner! So sorry you're having to deal with that stress

Rolledthedice · 25/01/2022 20:56

@rathernotshare that is dreadful! So sorry your work are putting extra pressure on you at a time like this. I hope the union can help you or your manager sees sense!

Prema112 · 25/01/2022 21:46

Anyone else getting numb thighs?!

AlbatrossSociety · 25/01/2022 22:10

@Prema112 I did earlier but only because the dog was lying on me 😂 sorry, not much help

3yearstrying · 25/01/2022 22:32

Sorry if already discussed, im catching up!!
Has anyone got recommendations for pregnancy pillows? Theres so many! My issue at the moment is hip pain in the night going from a front sleeper to now side. Thanks in advance!

Matilda30 · 26/01/2022 06:52

Re pregnancy pillows, I've just ended up using a normal pillow between my legs as suggested by my chiro (for pgp). I bought a huge pregnancy pillow from Asda but it just gets in the way when I switch sides. Maybe if I can used to staying on one side it'll be helpful.

Also ordered a mattress topper as our mattress is really firm, my poor hips!

I use the U shaped Kolbray one and it's been great.

Lostintranslatio · 26/01/2022 07:02

@rathernotshare I'm very sorry they're giving you a hard time in work. It is not fair 😣

Olive60 · 26/01/2022 07:43

My nipples are so so sensitive and painful!!! To the point its making me feel sick. Does anyone know anything to sooth them!?

CurryandSnuggle · 26/01/2022 07:49

@rathernotshare I’d take that to citizens advice! They’re seriously breaching discrimination laws. You were signed off with a doctors note too - how can they give you a formal warning got something you were formally signed off for?!

pregnancydiaries · 26/01/2022 07:50

On the sleeping issue, my hip is also becoming so sore in the night from lying on my side...I'm still struggling to see how a pregnancy pillow will help with that specifically, do you put it under your hip? Does anyone else have any recommendations for that pain?xxx @3yearstrying

PurpleMoon12 · 26/01/2022 07:52

@pregnancydiaries a soft mattress topper is working for me - Tescos forever full one seemed the thickest

Turniptracker · 26/01/2022 07:53

I ended up propping myself completely upright in a bed of pillows last night so I could get some sleep "on my back", rather than constantly lying on my sides. It was a nice change although I'm not sure if it's even allowed?!

MrsTwentyNine · 26/01/2022 07:59

@rathernotshare they really can't get away with this! I work for the NHS and it's the complete opposite! Sorry you're having to go through this!

20 week scan tomorrow and very anxious as I haven't felt definite movements till now. Just muscle stretching type of feelings. Worst things going through my mind 😩

I cannot remember who else said they hadn't felt movements apart from @Clomid1 ? Hope it's all good news for us all!

In other positive news, my hospital has reinstated having 2 birth partners!

pregnancydiaries · 26/01/2022 08:04

@PurpleMoon12 great I will try a topper!!

@Turniptracker this is how I "sit" every day from about 4pm and constantly asking DP if he would class that as lying or sitting 😂 his thinking is that lying on your back means totally lying flat 🤞🏼 xx

ChildOfFriday · 26/01/2022 08:05

@MrsTwentyNine I had my scan yesterday and still haven't felt movements that I could say were definitely the baby and all was fine. He was comfy curled up and needed some encouragement to move and get the measurements, which the sonographer said could be related to the position of my placenta. I really don't think lack of feeling movement is anything to worry about at this stage Smile Best of luck with your scan!
