I am currently 38+5 with my first and I am just curious really when your first finally got here!

Everyone keeps telling me, 'oh its your first, she will be really late', but just wondering how true that actually is?!

Been having the odd BH's and backache since about 37 and a half weeks, but other than that no signs so far! Baby has been 3/5 engaged since about week 35, and was still the same at my 38 week tuesday just gone.

I know baby will arrive when she is ready, but I am the most impatient person ever and this final wait to meet her is killing me haha!

40+2

DS1 arrived 40+1. Had the sweep at my 40 week appointment and he arrived within 20 hours (I had no signs before then).

DS2 arrived 41+1. Had the sweep and he arrived within 12 hours! Again, no signs before then!

I swear by sweeps😂 has the midwife spoken to you about getting one done at your 40 week appointment? Also, raspberry leaf tea was amazing with both DS, drank 4 cups a day from 34 weeks pregnant xx

37+5

40+3 but waters started to go three days before

PinkPlantCase · 21/01/2022 10:09

Baby arrived at 40+8 I had 1 sweep at 40+6 but I was already a bit dilated when they did it 🙂

One piece of advice OP, really read up about induction and what the evidence based reasons are to be induced (or not!) Dr Sarah Wickham has a really good book about it, outlining the process and explaining scenarios where it is and isn’t appropriate.

40+7 after a sweep. My cycle was very long though, and by my dates he was bang on time.

I'm 39+1 same with braxton hicks and backache from about 37 weeks. Niggles here and there but nothing else.

I am quite happy to wait I am a nanny whose just finished work and am around kids all the time and I'm enjoying (or trying to) the quiet before baby arrives. I am on the edge of a completely new life and I'm prepared to wait 😬

I am refusing sweeps for now. I'll reconsider past 41 weeks. It could be any day though.

winterbabyrose · 21/01/2022 10:49

So they are mostly overdue then!

I have been offered a sweep at 40+2 at my next midwife appointment if she isn't here by then.

Sorry if this seems naïve (FTM so this is all new to me), why do some people not take up the opportunity for a sweep? Is there any particular reason or just personal choice?

If your body isn’t ready a sweep can be really quite unpleasant.

Also I trusted that my body was doing its best to get baby in the best position for birth and still feeding baby up as needed. I didn’t really want to rush that process.

I was a week overdue when I consented to a sweep, I asked to start with if they could see if my cervix was favourable. As it turned out I was already a bit dilated and my body was already fairly close to going into labour so the sweep was very easy for them to perform and painless for me.

Minorissue · 21/01/2022 11:13

Also had two sweeps and will NEVER consent to them again. Baby wasn’t ready and it was agony

LonglegsMumtheBlacksmith · 21/01/2022 11:23

40+15
After 3 sweeps and a further three days of being induced my cervix hadn't budged a single mm - so it was caesarean time! If I were to have my time again I would refuse any intervention unless it was absolutely necessary x

Phrowzunn · 21/01/2022 11:37

Mine was 40+11
DSis was 40+12

WalkingOnSonshine · 21/01/2022 11:40

40+14.

I was induced on 40+12. He was pretty well cooked at 8lb 3.

I was convinced he would be early/on time as had BH from 37 weeks, my mum was early with all her children etc. DH is a first-born and was also 2 weeks late, so he’s obviously just like his dad!

WalkingOnSonshine · 21/01/2022 11:42

Re the sweep, I had one at 40 weeks and it was so painful, I refused a second at 41 weeks.

If I needed one with a second pregnancy, I’d refuse any.

And I have a high pain threshold - I was stitched without pain relief (didn’t need it as i was high on adrenaline).

CraftyGin · 21/01/2022 11:44

Mine came at 8 minutes past midnight on his due date.
