I am currently 38+5 with my first and I am just curious really when your first finally got here!

Everyone keeps telling me, 'oh its your first, she will be really late', but just wondering how true that actually is?!

Been having the odd BH's and backache since about 37 and a half weeks, but other than that no signs so far! Baby has been 3/5 engaged since about week 35, and was still the same at my 38 week tuesday just gone.

41 weeks exactly.
In reference to what other pps have said about sweeps, I had one at 40 weeks and it was so painful. My body definitely wasn’t ready.

The ones I had later weren’t so bad but I’ll be refusing them this time. I don’t think they helped anything along.

BobbleWobble1 · 22/01/2022 11:52

DS1 40+6
DS2 40+4
Both spontaneous labours.

I never had any expectations that I was going to go before due date either time. I've never known a baby come early in my family and I do think genetics plays a part (in the absence of any medical issues of course).

Re sweeps - declined in my first pregnancy. Wasn't offered this time but still would have declined. I've always been of the view that babies come when they're ready so I've never really seen the point.

How did you all feel before you went into labour?

Feeling so off today, don't know how to explain it. Like really on edge and anxious, emotional and not quite right. Don't know if this is some sort of sign of impending labour, or I'm either coming down with a cold or something or the lack of sleep is getting to me!

41+2 at 9lb 5oz, just thankful she didn't decide to stay in any longer and get any bigger!

Copasetic · 22/01/2022 20:39

41+ 3

BlueOysterCult · 22/01/2022 20:41

39 weeks exactly. I expected him to be about 42 weeks based on everyone saying your first baby is always late so I hadn't even finished packing my hospital bags!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 22/01/2022 20:42

They arrive ten years ago tonight...🥰

After a 26 hour labour, mind!

Primrosefields · 22/01/2022 20:44

On due date

Etherealhedgehog · 22/01/2022 20:44

40-1. I have a theory that you just tend to hear more about the late ones but plenty come before or around their due date as well

Workinghardeveryday · 22/01/2022 21:18

Due the 5th, arrived 18th

oneconcernedmama · 22/01/2022 21:21

40+8

I had a sweep at 40 weeks and it was so painful, it did absolutely nothing, I went home and was sore and uncomfortable for the rest of the day was sick and felt horrendous.
It could be a sign your body's preparing op, a friend of mine felt similar to you and went into labour the next day. I didn't really have any idea that I was going to go into labour other than a bit of an upset belly the day before, I went to bed as normal and woke up at 2.30am with intense contractions.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 22/01/2022 21:32

1 day early. Swear by raspberry leaf extract at max dose for the last 4 weeks. Get some pronto!

UnicornsReal · 22/01/2022 21:34

Waters broke the day before my due date.

weegiemum · 22/01/2022 21:52

Dd1 arrived at 39+3. I was really surprised! I went into labour early on Saturday morning and she was born 6pm Sunday evening so it was a long haul, she was back to back and weighed in at 9lb12oz so huuuuuge! Was a ventouse in the end.

They got earlier and smaller! Ds was 10 days early and 9lb3. Dd2 was 3 weeks early and 7lb15

fuckyourpronouns · 22/01/2022 22:03

40*4

fuckyourpronouns · 22/01/2022 22:06

@winterbabyrose

So they are mostly overdue then!

I have been offered a sweep at 40+2 at my next midwife appointment if she isn't here by then.

Sorry if this seems naïve (FTM so this is all new to me), why do some people not take up the opportunity for a sweep? Is there any particular reason or just personal choice?

I was offered this and to be induced. I refused because I absolutely believe that 99% of the time a baby will come when it's ready. Manipulating the process isn't great for the mums and often makes childbirth a much worse experience (not for everyone, but a significant majority based on my experience of friends and people I know who have had children)

Obv caveat there that there are some situations where it's needed however, try asking the medical team if they are telling you that you have to be induced for the safety of your baby and is it likely that baby would not survive if you weren't induced at that point. When I asked that question I was told no. That was very unlikely.

Just my experience of course!

How did you all feel before you went into labour?

Feeling so off today, don't know how to explain it. Like really on edge and anxious, emotional and not quite right. Don't know if this is some sort of sign of impending labour, or I'm either coming down with a cold or something or the lack of sleep is getting to me!

With my first I felt very similar to how you're feeling the day before I gave birth.

I also found I was quite loose with my bowels and just couldn't get comfortable.

My plug came away in the morning and contractions started relatively quickly afterwards. They weren't bad and I went out. Within a few hours they'd increased to every 4 mins. I was fully dilated when I got to hospital.

If you haven't already, get your bag and notes ready @winterbabyrose I know it's easier said that done, esp when it's your first, but try not to overthink anything. Every woman has a different pregnancy experience. No 2 are the same. If you can, try and tell yourself that your due date is at 42 weeks rather than 40. It'll help you not get so fed up! Download a contraction timer too once you start getting some pains - when they're every 6 mins call the hospital and let them know. If they're every 4 mins then go in xx

Aspidistra1 · 22/01/2022 22:25

Woke up in labour on my due date.
Walked lots over the weekend and went swimming. Ate my weight in pineapple. Went out for Indian the night before. DH asked for something mild and the waiter said “for you too?” And I said no and indicated my predicament. He winked and said he understood and would bring something special.

Obviously probably coincidence but have been thinking through whether to go for lunch there, get childcare or get takeaway when I’m at that stage with DC2. Currently only 8 weeks!

ricketybeauty · 22/01/2022 22:36

40+5 after being induced at 40+3. They tried to do a sweep and they couldn’t reach to do it. Baby was going nowhere on her own, I think she was signalling to me she was too big to come out the main exit as she was 11b 7. She ended up coming out of the sunroof.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 22/01/2022 22:43

38+4 after constant HG. Vomiting 5-16 times a day from 6 weeks, including 5 times during the birth and on the operating table during emergency c section. Happiest day of my life to be a mother and the sickness stopped in an instant.

NewYearNewMinty · 22/01/2022 22:47

Two weeks late, following 24 hours of induced labour, and epidural and an EMCS as she was trying to come out back to back and looking where she was going instead of having her head tucked in!

She's an only child...was worth it though Grin.

sjxoxo · 22/01/2022 22:52

39+2.
My due date was today 😬
He came a few days before a planned induction xo

MummyOfBoys2022 · 23/01/2022 02:06

41 weeks I had my sweep at 12pm and gave birth at 1.28am next morning and didn't have no signs until after my sweep

redandwhite1 · 23/01/2022 06:24

40+5, was due a sweep the next day which I didn't want so was glad it started naturally!!

mintich · 23/01/2022 06:27

42+1 started induction methods on the Monday, put on drip on Weds, baby arrived on Thurs
