I still have 4 more weeks to my 20week scan 😭😭😭😭

BTW, is anyone feeling exhausted? I thought I would be getting an energy boost at the second trimester, but not at all. Today feeling particularly bad, I had to lie down since lunch until now (thank goodness nobody in work noticed 😂).

PeeAche · 17/01/2022 17:28

@Lostintranslatio still 3 full weeks until mine too. I don't mind. The later it is, the less likely they are to spend 5 minutes insulting my weight and then send me home with nothing. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Had my quad test today. Let 3 days of nail biting commence.

3yearstrying · 17/01/2022 17:39

Can i ask also when/how i'll get my 20 week Mat certificate thingy so i can formally tell work? So confused as they want the forms but im not sure how to get them! I'll ask my midwife but just incase anyone here knows Grin

PeeAche · 17/01/2022 17:42

@3yearstrying my maternity policy at work says that the cert (MAT B1) is usually issued "between weeks 20 and 26 of pregnancy". It's issued by a GP or midwife - I think you can ask either! If your work are hassling you for it, give your GP a call and ask for a telephone appointment.xxx

Rolledthedice · 17/01/2022 18:05

@3yearstrying I asked my GP for the form and she said I can have it after 20 weeks. Your GP should be able to get you one, which might be easier than chasing it down at a midwife hospital appt. I also need to ask a midwife for the one that lets you get free NHS dentistry!

Littlemilomoo · 17/01/2022 18:11

Tesco have baby event in now until 6th Feb if anyone wants to start picking up a few bits. Providing our 20week scan goes ok on Thursday we are going to swing in afterwards and start stocking up on things while they are on offer I think!

rathernotshare · 17/01/2022 18:24

@3yearstrying I was told I'd get it at my 28 week midwife appointment!

MrsNT · 17/01/2022 18:27

@3yearstrying u need to get it from gp. U get it after ur 20 weeks.

@mrkb Thank you!!

Ok I'm gonna go with bladder half full so I can fill or empty as required 😂

destiEos · 17/01/2022 19:12

@PlodandPod I know - there are loads of them second hand! But then I worry if they'll be grotty and you can't really tell until you see it, can you? I'm watching loads on eBay 😂

@mrkb and @3yearstrying congrats on your scans! And good luck to the rest who are having theirs this week... I'm not til Friday, so will be checking all yours out to see what to expect!

@Littlemilomoo I feel like my company's policy says the same thing about taking all my years leave before I go on maternity leave - and was wondering the same thing? @fpeg just got to your post, thanks for the clarification. I'm actually surprised they're allowed to insist you take it beforehand. And that caveat is really out of order...hmm...I asked for the maternity policy over a year ago, and although I've told my manager weeks ago HR haven't been in touch, so...

@Lostintranslatio I had a 3 hour nap this afternoon 😬 so I just finished work..

Ohmygod we're going to have babies!!

P.S. A ball! I think if it were me I might be more excited about that than the baby 😂

Roxystar23 · 17/01/2022 19:17

@Littlemilomoo - Ooh yay! A scan buddy! Mine is at 8am so nice and early - I think I will definitely need a nap afterwards because I don’t think I will sleep Wednesday night! Haha! What time is yours?

Littlemilomoo · 17/01/2022 19:25

@Roxystar23 mine is at 9:30 so not long after you !! Same I don’t think I’ll get much sleep Wednesday night either .. or leading up to it to be honest although I am getting the occasional movement from little bean 😊 almost like they are telling me not to stress aha!

Rolledthedice · 17/01/2022 19:31

Nearly jumped out of my seat this afternoon when I felt my lower belly pluse! 19 weeks today and getting some movements for the first time. It feels so weird though!! Takes me by surprise everytime 😂 She seems to like hot chocolates and the cat purring on my lap.

Does anyone else find it makes them go “oh?!” in surprise? 😅

Annabell1 · 17/01/2022 20:22

Hey ladies, it's so good to slowly hear about the results of everyone's 20 week scan. ❤️ Honestly can't believe we have made it this far. I have my scan next week. Can't wait.
I'm a bit behind and it took me a while to catch up. Thanks for the bladder comments, good to know it's not just me. 😄 I'm definitely in the same boat. My bladder feels so tiny now, I have to go for a wee all the time and not much is coming. Must really be the pressure.
I have also told work last week and luckily my manager was super lovely. Also have tons of questions that I would like to discuss with HR so hopefully I will get the Matb1 form sooner rather than later.
We are also trying not to buy anything for the baby before 32 weeks, see how that will work. 😜

fpeg · 17/01/2022 20:23

@Rolledthedice all the time! I just don't seem to be getting used to it 😂

PlodandPod · 17/01/2022 20:35

@destiEos If you buy from eBay and it's described as perfect/like new etc and it isn't when it arrives you're covered by opening a return and saying it's not as described. Seller has to foot the bill for the return even if they said they don't accept returns. (Bit of an eBay geek here, part of my job!)

FB - If you turn up to see it and it's grubby just say thanks but no thanks.

The covers are washable but I still know what you mean!

Vimto1991 · 17/01/2022 21:56

I’m feeling the baby loads this week, DH even got to feel them kick on Saturday! Today they seem to be kicking really low down, like pelvis/cervix wise which just feels awkward. I also feel generally achey and somewhat… full? I don’t know how to describe it. Maybe it’s from organs being battered by this tiny dancer… 😂

Vimto1991 · 17/01/2022 21:58

When I say full I also mean like bladder and that area in general! I pee so often and teeny amounts. 🥲

CurryandSnuggle · 17/01/2022 22:18

@3yearstrying you can get it from 20 weeks. I phoned midwife clinic up and they had it ready for me to collect a couple of hours later Smile

CurryandSnuggle · 17/01/2022 22:22

@Rolledthedice it made me jump but I’m getting used to it now. How exciting! ❤️

On the subject of movement.. DH got to feel baby moving by putting his hand to my belly for the first time this evening. He was mildly freaked out but quite enjoyed the experience. (I’m 20+3, but have a posterior placenta so hence I think this is quite early to feel external movements) I am appreciating the reassurance of feeling her move 🙂

laurenGame · 17/01/2022 23:25

@Rolledthedice my 12 week scan took over an hour and sonographer was pressing the whoooole time, it was awful. She said I came too early 🤔 I was 12 weeks exactly and baby is 52% percentile.

I see my OB fortnightly, just to chat and listen to heartbeat etc (I'm private) and he does a quick scan but with no pressing and he does it so nicely with no cramps afterwards! So I wonder if sonographer just wants to rush things 🤷‍♀️

I'm contemplating ask sonographer at 20 weeks to go easy on me Grin

Rolledthedice · 18/01/2022 00:10

@laurenGame that sounds like we had the same sonographer! 😉 Yes, pressing down the whole time and I couldn’t wait for it to end. I think mine is also bang in the middle in terms of size.

Your OB sounds excellent, I’m glad you have someone with a good bedside manner. 😊

Roxystar23 · 18/01/2022 07:10

@Littlemilomoo Thank goodness for early morning appointments - I think I would burst if I had to wait all day! I’ve been awake since 5am today (I did try to fall back asleep but it just wasn’t happening). I think I was about to drop off but then the baby decided that was the perfect time to start kicking, Poking and enjoying the jungle gym that is in my belly! Haha!

Slanketeer · 18/01/2022 07:48

Hello! Just joining this thread late as I've been too nervous up to now. Have been following along since the beginning though and really appreciated all the support from the sidelines so thank you! I'm 18+3 at the moment and due on the 18th June. We've had a bumpy week with a couple of trips to maternity triage but all looking good and wriggling away in there, just very disconcerting not having an explanation for the bleeding and still having lots of issues with pain. Really looking forward to the 20 week scan and seeing them again, congratulations on all the lovely scans, how exciting!
