@DaimDillyDoo that’s brilliant news, so pleased you got a low probability result! :) I’m also being very laid back and not really thinking about it too much tbh, we’ll probably tell friends after 20 weeks - part of me would just never tell anyone haha!

Thank you @EarlGreywithLemon - just got back from scan and all good, although it was really uncomfortable when pressing to get Doppler blood flow (plus I’m squeamish about veins/blood stuff). Does anyone else get a bit of cramping after these scans?

We told my mum today as I felt bad keeping it from her any longer, she is thrilled bless her.

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 15:32

@Rolledthedice I last went private and it really started to hurt with how much digging in they do. I have definitely cramped both times after an ultrasound. Always makes me worried they were too harsh on my insides!

Prema112 · 29/11/2021 15:33

@CurryandSnuggle Yes I think it's definitely possible!! I keep trying feel mine but haven't yet, I felt my son at 14+5 so I thought I might feel this one earlier. How exciting!! I can't wait to start feeling him/her. I did however manage to hear the baby's heartbeat on my home doppler today Smile I'm 13+5 and wouldn't have tried much earlier and as I have a scan tmw I knew I wouldn't have long to panic if I couldn't find it! So lovey to hear Smile

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 15:33

We told parents and DH’s sibling at around 7 weeks. We will probably tell everyone else on Wednesday as we have the 12 week scan tomorrow. We are just excited, happy and nervous, but we would rather tell people! :)

Prema112 · 29/11/2021 15:35

@MrsTwentyNine yes I've had 12 week scan and got another tmw as they couldn't do the measurements last time baby kept hiding!

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 15:46

@Vimto1991 This is my first pregnancy so I was surprised at how much it digs in! I’m
Normal weight etc, not sure if that effects it! I agree it feels like they are messing with your insides.

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 15:50

@Rolledthedice my first, too! I’m a bit overweight, tend to carry the weight around that part of my belly and thought they dug in cause of that 🙈 maybe they just need to dig deep to find baby regardless! Didn’t expect it to be so uncomfortable after a while haha!

pregnancydiaries · 29/11/2021 16:39

Ladies just on the subject of pressure during scans, I had a scan today (11+2) and now I have quite a lot of cramp from it. Has anyone else had this? Just need some reassurance that it’s normal as can’t help but panic xx

ALHCTPS · 29/11/2021 16:43

Re anxiety during pregnancy, l remember being really twitchy for the first few months as that's when so many miscarriages happen, and then there was a certain sense of relief around 35 weeks, where the baby is theoretically fully 'cooked', should you go into birth early (I was 4 weeks premature), so ever week you manage after that is a bonus. But then I just wanted the baby out safe, and I didn't care how, as long as we were both okay. To loose your baby at 38 weeks or at full term must be absolutely excruciating/devastating. I know people who've lost babies post twenty weeks and you have to actually give birth, which I hadn't appreciated. Anyone who comes out the other side of that has every ounce of compassion I possess. I couldn't give a shit if I have a water birth or use pain relief or anything like that - all that matters is a healthy baby.

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 16:53

@pregnancydiaries yep!! I’m kinda relieved it’s not just me!

pregnancydiaries · 29/11/2021 16:56

@Vimto1991 just scrolled up and realised you and @Rolledthedice both mentioned cramps! Feel so much better it’s not just me.

I had it after my 8 week scan but that was internal so thought that was why so I worried when it happened today after an external one. What are we like ladies!!!

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 17:03

Congratulations @Rolledthedice and anyone else who had scans today! Definitely found past scans uncomfortable and did get a bit of cramping afterwards in the past. I’m a bit concerned about turning up with a full bladder, given things are … ahem … not quite as in control as they were in that department after one baby! Grin

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 17:04

@DaimDillyDoo brilliant news about the NIPT! Such a relief.

@ALHCTPS very well put!

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 17:27

@pregnancydiaries and @Vimto1991 my theory is that the pressure aggravates ligaments and muscles at a time when they are more sensitive anyway. I had a warm shower when I got home and put on loose trousers which helped!

pregnancydiaries · 29/11/2021 17:31

@Rolledthedice I’ve just done the exact same and now in bed watching Paddington (who am I?!) and having a cuppa T with a crunchie xx

caz198917 · 29/11/2021 17:32

Scan went well, 13 weeks 4 days. Any guesses on sex? Xx

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 17:33

Ooooh good idea! @Rolledthedice I’ll do that tomorrow after mine. :)

Currently regretting have a crisp sandwich for lunch. Sat here feeling so sick, wretching and have bad heart burn. 🥺 should learn by now to eat more!!

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 17:38

Lol Paddington @pregnancydiaries. To be fair I’m watching Selling Sunset! Cuppa tea and a crunchie sounds perfect to me! I might just do the same 😉

pregnancydiaries · 29/11/2021 17:41

@Vimto1991 on the hour every hour with snacks is a must! I’m like that all day or else the sickness doesn’t stop. Realise that doesn’t help you right now. You’ve put me in the mood for a crisp sandwich now…

@Rolledthedice haha well I watched the whole of selling sunset over the course of Saturday and Sunday so now I’m at a loose end until Chelsea tonight 😂

HopefulJ2018 · 29/11/2021 17:46

@MrsTwentyNine I've been really sick for 6 weeks with hyperemisis but it's eased off abit this week so now I'm freaking out there's something wrong lol.

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 17:48

@caz198917 I only briefly looked into nub theory but I’d say girl!! Congratulations on the lovely ultrasound ☺️

@pregnancydiaries ooooh what do you tend to snack on hourly? I need inspo as I have food aversion to most things 😂

pregnancydiaries · 29/11/2021 17:53

@caz198917 I also only started looking into the nub theory today and don’t really understand it but I’m also saying girl!!

@Vimto1991 so I’ve been in and out of hospital with HG and honestly the only thing that helps the nausea is constant snacking every hour even when you have to force it, doesn’t have to be much:

  • carrot/cucumber sticks with humous
  • pickled onion monster munch
  • quavers
  • crisps and dip
  • toast but sometimes that’s a struggle
  • mini chocolate bars (crunchies and milky ways are good as not too chocolatey)
  • olives
  • pickles and pickled onions
  • have now taken to cauliflower and broccoli cheese to try get calories up
  • a hella lot of cereal
  • cream of tomato soup
  • custard creams and digestive biscuits

That’s about it for now every day. I don’t eat meals at all now just constant grazing. hope you get some inspo 😂 xx

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 17:55

@pregnancydiaries amazing! Thank you so much! Most of those I’ve been able to eat fine through this pregnancy so think I need to get a snack shop on asap!
