@MrsTwentyNine

Hi ladies Long time lurker on this group but never felt brave enough to post, had a m/c in July and now 11+3 today so very anxious. Had a scan at 9 weeks which went well so waiting for my 12 week scan on the 9th - EDD 16th June Congratulations to all of you. Your conversations have kept me sane (I sound like such a stalker!) I have read a few people mention weight gain in the first trimester and I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I already was a size 14 and now I have definitely gained a LOT of just fat I'm sure, so have invested in maternity trousers already And yes to the social media announcements making you feel sad/ scared - I'm still the same. *@clomid1* Or even seeing pregnant women in their 3rd trimester, I am still so anxious. I had spotting around 7 weeks like a lot of ladies here too Anyway lovely to finally be able to bring myself to post on here ladies x
Hi Im more of a lurker too, only post the odd comment. We're nearly identical in dates. I had a 9 week private scan and it put me at 15th June. My NHS scan is next Monday so nervous as I had a miscarriage last year. Xx
Journeylikenomother · 29/11/2021 09:53

@Turniptracker I'm for a scan today... I haven't slept a wink last night. 😰 Apparently scanxiety is expected after a previous loss so trying to tell myself to calm the f* down. Consultant lead care and she's already said, "come in every week if you need to"... Don't plan on doing that but it's comforting she's so supportive.

Olive60 · 29/11/2021 10:02

Good luck to everyone with scans this week! I'm 2 weeks today until mine!

Turniptracker · 29/11/2021 10:02

@Journeylikenomother wishing you lots of luck today, hope it all goes well. The anxiety is totally normal I think but hopefully you can feel a little more relax once you see little bean on camera

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 10:06

My scan is also on Thursday. Good luck to everyone - may we all stay sane until then Grin

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 10:22

Hi ladies, this is probably a daft question but I have my 12 week scan today and am wondering whether to get the combined screening (since it’s offered) even though I already had the Harmony NIPT test done?

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 10:35

@Rolledthedice I was told to still get the blood test because it tests for PAPP-A- if you have low levels of that you may need to take aspirin and have extra scans, as it can affect growth. Interestingly no one bothered to tell me about that in my first pregnancy!!

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 10:40

@EarlGreywithLemon - that’s interesting to hear, I didn’t see any mention of PAPP-A on the gov site that my letter sent me to. I thought it was just chromosome testing. They took bloods last week at my booking appt and that was screening for full blood count and infections.

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 10:45

The blood test the NHS does as part of the 12 week combined screening uses a number of predictors to give a likelihood of Downs and the other trisomies - one of them is the level of PAPP-A. Unlike the NIPT, it’s not chromosome testing, just a predictor. Let me see if I can find more detail.

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 10:49

Here: www.liverpoolwomens.nhs.uk/media/2600/the-combined-screening-test.pdf
And here’s about low PAPP-A , which also mentions that it’s one of the hormones they test for in the combined screening: www.hey.nhs.uk/patient-leaflet/low-papp-a/

Rolledthedice · 29/11/2021 10:51

@EarlGreywithLemon thank you! I’ve just had a google and see what you mean! I think I’ll have the combined test, I figure more information is usually a good thing. :)

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 10:53

That’s what I’m thinking! Interestingly the sonographer who did the NIPT blood test and scan this time specifically told me to have the test for PAPP-A. They didn’t tell me that last time!

Clomid1 · 29/11/2021 10:59

@EarlGreywithLemon snap so is mine

@MrsNT I was told to just keep taking it throughout the pregnancy as it doesn’t harm the baby. I have a consultant appointment in Jan so will confirm

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 11:26

@Clomid1 very best of luck! Mine is at mid-day but I have to hang around after to also have an ECG.

EarlGreywithLemon · 29/11/2021 11:27

Oh, and good luck today @Rolledthedice !!

rathernotshare · 29/11/2021 11:40

@Clomid1 @unknownscot we conceived naturally on cycle 24 (and we tracked ovulation the entire time), one more month and we'd be on the route to IVF. I still find pregnancy announcements upsetting and I'm really torn up over whether or not to do one. I've had my 12 week scan and I feel it's a right of passage, but I also want to be sensitive to those like me who cried every time they saw one! I certainly won't be oversharing on Facebook regardless x

Olive60 · 29/11/2021 11:58

Although not the same situation but I won't be doing any pregnancy announcement. I'm 30 and pregnant with my second child. I was 19 when I had my first and felt so judged by everyone around me. Especially by family members im not close to.. for example... my parents cousins because I didn't tell them directly! Also by the midwife at my dating scan who randomly came out with "do you know who the dad is because we have alot in like you" something that still haunts my mind 11 years later. I ended up feeling very alone in pregnancy and PND after giving birth but yet I raised the most amazing DD by myself (I had loving family around me like my parents & sister.) And this time around I feel content, comfortable and happy. I'll tell the closest people to me and that's it. My parents & sister already know as I work for them and needed to get to appointments. No one on my partners side knows yet. Maybe after the 12 week scan but I'm swaying more towards telling them around the 20 week mark just because I still feel scared of judgement and my happy bubble being burst, even though I know they'll be happy!

MrsTwentyNine · 29/11/2021 12:29

@HopefulJ2018 oh that's brilliant! We really are! Based on my LMP I thought I would be around June 21 but the 9 week scan adjusted it so it became a lot sooner. All the best for your scan on Monday! Mine will be a few days after you. Have you had any nausea? I had awful nausea with intermittent vomiting weeks 8-9. Now I just have regular nighttime nausea around 8pm - it's really bizarre.

@Prema112 thank you very much lovely! Have you had your 12 week scan? How do you feel? :)

RoseValleyRambles · 29/11/2021 12:55

My vinted parcel of maternity tights and leggings has just arrived.
So glad to be escaping my waistbands!
Think they're going to double up as pj bottoms too as there's no point spending too much on mat clothes.

DaimDillyDoo · 29/11/2021 13:58

NIPT results are back with a low chance (1 in 5255 for Downs and 1 36513 for Edwards and Plateu)

I'm SO grateful I could cry.

Good luck to everyone with their scans this week :)

I'm really not in a rush to tell people for some reason, i'm so laid back about it all. Is anyone else the same?!

CurryandSnuggle · 29/11/2021 14:10

Good luck everyone having scans today! Smile

Right this is going to sound crazy but I am totally convinced I can feel flutters from baby moving. I’m 13+3 so appreciate it’s super early but I am convinced I felt it in the bath yesterday, and then I’ve had it twice today. I don’t feel gassy, well aware it could just be gas but I am convinced it’s the baby.

I felt it from about 16 weeks in my first pregnancy. I’ve googled that it is possible to feel movement from 13 weeks but most people don’t feel it until 16-25 weeks!

RoseValleyRambles · 29/11/2021 14:27

@curryandsnuggle that's super exciting! Wouldn't be surprised if you feel it earlier in repeat pregnancies. So cool!

Vimto1991 · 29/11/2021 15:04

@CurryandSnuggle I felt flutters on Saturday! Felt like mini muscle spasms. Thought I was going crazy, wasn’t sure if it was wind or the baby since I’m 12 weeks tomorrow. :o

Olive60 · 29/11/2021 15:06

@CurryandSnuggle pretty sure I felt it around that time with my first! Exciting!!!!

MsBubbles85 · 29/11/2021 15:08

@DaimDillyDoo Amazing news!

I am the same about telling people or SM announcements, I though I was going to be more eager to announce it on Christmas day in SM but I really don't feel like it and will wait until the 20 week scan.
