@Capricorn8990 She said that all the theories are rubbish but indulged me anyways 😂

WotsitMum · 29/12/2021 19:00

Finally had contact from a midwife today (from the hospital) theres no available appointments at my local comunity midwife centre so ive got to go to the hospital (35 minute drive away) for booking appointment blood tests. Ive been booked an appointment with a temp at the comunity midwife centre when i will be 16 weeks but been told theres no current space for me to be assigned a midwife (last pregnancy i never actually met my assigned midwife so its no biggie to me) been prescribed asprin due to my previous pregnancy having slow growth and low birth weight, anyone else have to take asprin? I cant find any risks/negatives about it researching it online. This whole midwife shortage makes me more nervous! The only thing that has calmed me is that i am allowed to opt for an elective c-section if i would like to which i think i will!

UncomfortableBadger · 29/12/2021 20:01

Hope you’re all holding up ok?

I’ve had two days with no vomiting now (just dry heaving all day) so I have everything crossed that this might signal the easing off of the constant sickness. Pleeeeeeeease!

Also breathing a sigh of relief as we got the 12 week screening results back in the post today and everything seems to be low risk. I’d been sleeping terribly due to worrying about it for the past week.

UncomfortableBadger · 29/12/2021 20:04

@WotsitMum I’ve been told that I need to take aspirin too - like you, I’m struggling to balance the risks and benefits as the midwives couldn’t really explain anything in any great detail Confused

WotsitMum · 29/12/2021 20:12

@UncomfortableBadger and its so hard to even get an appointment at the doctors these days so i doubt the receptionist at the doctors will even give me an appointment with a doctor to discuss asprin in pregnancy! Its so hard, the midwife has sent a message to the doctors at the hospital to give me a call to discuss vaccinations as i had reactions in my previous pregnancy so hopefully that will be soon and ill be able to ask questions about the asprin too!

Glittergirl2 · 29/12/2021 20:46

@WotsitMum I had to take aspirin all through my last pregnancy, I was prescribed it due to a higher bmi which can increase the risk of blood clots. The midwife never mentioned it at my booking appointment this time so unsure if I’ll have to take it this pregnancy or not but it didn’t effect anything last time

Linkoln · 29/12/2021 22:00

Hello.

I posted weeks ago about how anxious I was, and terrified that things were going to go wrong due to multiple prior MC's. I had some lovely replies, but I was so overwhelmed, I just couldn't reply

Well update, had my 12 week scan today and it's all good. Needless to say, it was a like a massive weight vanished. 6 or so weeks of absolute panic melted in those first few moments. One very wriggly, healthy baby due mid July

Now to breathe a little easier and enjoy the journey to come

missv556 · 30/12/2021 06:27

@WotsitMum I've been prescribed aspirin as well. Been on it just over a week. Believe it's because of my blood pressure.

I'm a tad jealous of all of you ladies having your scans lol some really lovely photos. I'm still waiting for my rescan date. I'm 11+5 today so it's gotta be soon surely. Just wanna see how my alien is doing.

Maybepossibly22 · 30/12/2021 08:43

Morning! Lovely to see all your scans, how exciting! I have a scan today due to a bit of brown spotting over the last couple of days, I’m 10+2 by my dates so will be glad to find out if everything is ok in there. I’m so nervous, just keeping everything crossed

ellewildeireland · 30/12/2021 09:02

Hi everyone! I'm new here - first pregnancy and I'm just over 10 weeks now :) I've been finding this thread really helpful but was too nervous to post until I had my 10 week scan yesterday. Thankfully we saw a healthy active baba who we've nicknamed 'jelly bean'. My next scan is mid-Jan in Dublin. Any other Irish mamas-to-be on this thread? Hope everyone who has been having sickness is feeling a bit better! I've only been sick once but get random waves of intense nausea and serious food aversions. Anyone have any strange cravings yet?

JNGO21 · 30/12/2021 09:20

I asked the sonographer about nub theory and she said they’re not allowed to talk about it at all because some people would terminate at this stage due to the “wrong” gender and so they don’t indulge it.

JNGO21 · 30/12/2021 09:23

@Linkoln
That’s amazing! Congratulations!
I have been really anxious as well and seeing the little wrigglebean on the screen was so amazing. I immediately just blubbed (and I am NOT a cryer!) I managed to get out “it’s got a head!”

MittensForKittens123 · 30/12/2021 09:57

Congratulations to everyone who has had their 12 week scan already. It’s nice to see the scan pictures.

Mine isn’t until I’m 13+2, and I’m really starting to panic about the D.S./trisomy risk, I’m 36 with a BMI of 31, so I know we have an increased risk. I’m also worrying now that because it’s close to the end range for the nuchal translucency testing, if there is a problem it won’t get picked up. I have my booking in appointment on the 4th, so I will speak to the midwife then, but I did want to see if I’m the only one obsessively checking risk factors and percentages?

Have you considered the NIPT? A bit cheaper than Harmony which is essentially the NIPT with a scan to check measurements at the same time.

We paid £295 in London and I think it was worth every penny. I have a history of miscarriage so I was really concerned about trisomies causing a later loss or a tfmr (I have had lots of ladies in my support groups who experienced this). Was a relief to have everything come back low risk and to confirm that she is a little girl- makes it more real.

Suprima · 30/12/2021 10:07

Also my NIPT included a scan as well for viability and dating- it just wasn’t used as part of the screening process or to calculate risk factors. Makes it more affordable if you would have scanned anyway?

WotsitMum · 30/12/2021 10:26

Ive got my scan tomorow, will be 12 +1 hopefully all is good and fingers crossed its just the one! Twins run in my family and im allready going to have 2 under 2!

MittensForKittens123 · 30/12/2021 10:39

Thanks @Suprima, I think we probably will end up doing this, as I’m a worrier in general - I will speak to the midwife on the 4th first though. Which clinic did you use? We’re in London too.

purpleskyssssss · 30/12/2021 17:07

Hello ladies

Had my scan today, they put me forward by 4 days so I was measuring 13+2 today and they have given me a due date of 5th July, seems all the more real now!

Baby was moving around lots, sat up, face backwards and would put hands in awkward position when she was trying to take measurement, was in there ages, having to move around, fill bladder more, empty bladder haha.

All good and baby looking well and had bloods done, so I'm now in second trimester and I'm thankful I'm starting to want healthier food again, I have put on 7 pound since being pregnant! Will be more mindful of what I'm putting down me now I can face more foods :)

Maybepossibly22 · 30/12/2021 17:22

Hi all, I will be leaving this thread and my scan found a missed miscarriage today - I won’t scare anyone with the details and I wish you all a very very happy and healthy rest of your pregnancies x

sle0911 · 30/12/2021 18:49

@Maybepossibly22 so sorry to hear this. Take care of yourself xxx

Scan for me today too. measuring 12+4 with a due date of July 10th x

missv556 · 31/12/2021 07:26

Got my rescan date. Its the 7th January when I'll be 12+6. I just got a bit emotional thinking about my little alien, like how can I love this person so much already? I want to cry but happy tears you know. I also checked my blood work results on my badger notes app and everything is good. Found out I'm O+ blood type, never knew that before, always wondered what it was tbf.

What's everyone's plans for tonight? I'm going to spend it with my fiance and a friend. Go for a meal then chilling at hers and they are going to drink while I sip my non alcoholic cocktails my mum got for me 😑 genuinely worried I'm gonna fall asleep cos this need to nap in the evening is still very strong. I physically can't stay awake lol I just conk out. She only lives on the next road over so not far to go to my bed once midnight hits at least
