@JNGO21 heya! I have had quite bad symptoms but I know lots of people including my MIL who didn't have any at all! Wednesday isn't far off at all, I have everything crossed for you and the early scan is positive xx

missv556 · 27/12/2021 06:28

@JNGO21 hi I haven't had any major symptoms either. Just fatigue really but my pregnancy is ticking along nicely.

I've seen my baby 3 times now. I did a private scan at 6 weeks, had a small bleed at just under 9 weeks so ended up at the early pregnancy unit for a scan to check everything OK and then I had my dating scan last Monday at 10+2 which was too early 😅 baby was doing great but I'm still a little bit apprehensive to buy stuff because I haven't reached that magic 12 weeks just yet. I'm waiting for my rescan date and then I'll probably feel safe to buy. I know its a silly superstition really but can't help but feel a bit nervous lol

Has anyone started buying maternity clothes yet? I thought I'd try to get some in the sales when I went shopping yesterday and found exactly nothing because no shop seemed to have a maternity section 🙃 apparently pregnant women don't need clothes anymore 😑 grinds my gears that there's barely anywhere to buy baby stuff and now this ffs

Misty84 · 27/12/2021 07:50

Hi @JNGO21 I’ve only had sore boobs, no other symptoms at all.
Best of luck for your scan on Weds, let us know how you get on!!

Lianna93 · 27/12/2021 08:04

Good morning ladies, hope you're all doing well?

This 13th week is kicking my butt 😭 Constant headaches & feeling ridiculously hot all the time - keep taking my temperature & it's fine. My lifesaver has been cool n soothes 😂 Swear, when I take one off it's like someone's replaced it with a heat pack on my head 🤢
Still super nauseous too 🙄
So much for the second trimester being easier 😂 July can't come soon enough 😬😂

ShellUK09 · 27/12/2021 09:00

@Lianna93 yes same here, feel like I have had every symptom under the sun lately. I'm on week 11 now and although my sickness has faded a lot, I still feel nauseous/bloated most of the time and need to eat crackers as soon as I wake up, got them by my bed! Had been suffering diarrhoea in the early stages, now it is constipation... Also seen an increase in headaches and feel hot and bothered a lot, I struggle to even swallow tablets now without being sick so I tend to have the 4head cool stick on my head most of the day! I'll have to buy cool and soothe! I would have paracetamol if desperate but I usually throw up straight away if I try to take them 🤢 I did manage to enjoy a Christmas dinner even if it was a smaller portion than I would usually have, so was thankful for that. A few weeks ago when I was being sick I thought Christmas wasn't going to be much fun this year but it was a nice day. Also my dreams are like films at the moment so that is keeping me entertained anyway!

Hope you all managed to enjoy Christmas and are doing okay 🙂

Hi! Been watching this thread for a while now so thought id say hello! Im due mid july with my seccond, my lo will be 20 months when baby arrives😬 ive had no contact from a midwife yet, my doctors made me self refer online, i got a call last week saying ive got my 12 week scan on the 31st. With my first i had a booking in appointment (on the phone as we had just gone into lockdown) where they asked lots of questions about mine and my partners health background, do they not do this with seccond pregnancy? Im just a little concerned as my first pregnancy wasant plain sailing and alot could have been prevented/picked up sooner if i was seen as much as i should have been (alot of appointments skipped due to the pandemic so barley saw a midwife) and if my midwife actualy listened to my concerns and ended in an emergency c-section at 37 weeks with my lo weighing just 4lbs 5oz. Im on edge thinking that i could be given the same midwife that never listened to anything i had to say, dismissed my concerns for my baby measuring small at a private scan telling me that private scans are just for fun, didnt do any investogations/monitoring when i had protein in my urine (which i read on the nhs website is a big concern) and meausured my bump wrong after a student midwife measured me small, i allways felt like she wanted me in and out.

SamanthaVimes · 27/12/2021 09:08

@WotsitMum yes you should still have a booking appointment (although mine was much faster second time around)
You might not get the same midwife, I’ve got a different one this time and my first is only a little bit older than yours. If you did end up with the same I’ve I’m sure you could ask to change, it’s so important that you get on with them.

annie1994 · 27/12/2021 11:32

@WotsitMum you should definitely still have a booking appointment. My boy is couple months older than yours and I’m due my second on 29th June. I still had a booking appointment. You could be on different medications, new diagnoses, weigh more/ less etc so they still need to see you again. Like you I had complications in first labour so am higher risk this time because of that so we spoke about that.

I’m also sure you can ask for a different midwife, just may have to travel further to see them 😊

Misty84 · 27/12/2021 11:59

Gosh @WotsitMum so sorry to hear about your first experience, that sounds awful!

nadgersbadgers · 27/12/2021 11:59

Morrrrrning

11+1 here
We didn't tell any one over Christmas. I'm just getting fat and nothing feels comfortable.
Hope you're all ok

HopefulBeth · 27/12/2021 13:34

Hi Ladies, just wondering if anyone has lost weight so far? I've lost nearly a stone due to feeling nauseous and food aversions - I never feel hungry so feel like I'm eating enough to keep me and baby healthy but worrying a bit as I've read you shouldn't lose weight during pregnancy? I'm 12+6 and I've only vomited twice all pregnancy so far (once was today, think I overdid it a bit over Christmas Xmas Hmm ) so it's not due to morning sickness! My BMI is 31 anyway so I feel like it's no bad thing really as long as baby is healthy?

I've also got to have the gestational diabetes test going back to what someone said earlier, mines 29/3, not really looked up what it involves...anyone had it before?

annie1994 · 27/12/2021 13:49

@HopefulBeth I lost about a stone and a half between 6 and 10 weeks because of hyperemesis. Tbh no one seemed that bothered about my weight loss so I assume it’s not that important? My BMI is 33 so a bit bigger than you. I was worried but baby is doing well and I’m starting to put the weight I lost back on now I’m 13+5 and sickness much more under control. Hope you feel better soon x

UncomfortableBadger · 27/12/2021 15:48

In case useful for anybody else, ASOS is doing an extra 25% off sale items including their maternity range using the code NEWYOU - I’ve just ordered a few bits, although am very aware that both sizing and quality can be variable.

WotsitMum · 27/12/2021 16:02

@SamanthaVimes @annie1994 if i dont hear anything after new year ill try find a number to ring and chase it up then!

@HopefulBeth i lost weight with my first and im sure i have this time too but as long as bump is growing (later on when bump is more visable) and baby is showing the right growth at scans then there is no concern! Its hard not to worry i know!

For pregnancy clothing... in my last pregnancy i found boohoo aughful but found new look was the best for jeans so ill be checking out the new look sales for maternity jeans!

Misty84 · 27/12/2021 16:04

Thanks @UncomfortableBadger I’m going to have a look now!

nadgersbadgers · 27/12/2021 17:59

@Misty84 re the prep machine - I had the cheaper original version last time and will buy again if breast feeding doesn't work.

Lianna93 · 27/12/2021 18:11

@ShellUK09 Definitely recommend cool n soothes! Try getting the ones designed for migraine relief rather than fever - they last longer :)
Everyone keeps telling me that 'it'll get better' & 'I'll enjoy being pregnant' but honestly, I am absolutely hating it so far and I definitely don't think it's getting better 😩
I had a few days where it definitely did get better but since the headaches & the higher body temperature, I feel like I'm constantly hungover. Genuinely can't wait for it all to be over 😬😂

@WotsitMum Im having my first, so can't really give any advice but do you have a number you could contact the midwife?
For me, I contacted my local maternity ward, where they took my details then set up a phone call with my community midwife. I heard back within the week - she took a lot of my family history etc over the phone them brought me in to see when I was around the 9/10 week mark where she took blood samples & did more of my family history.
That's then when she referred me for my scan & has set up another phone appointment with me for next month when I'll be coming up for about 16 weeks.

Lianna93 · 27/12/2021 18:21

@HopefulBeth I just went & weighed myself after reading your post 😂 I've lost 2kg since my booking appointment- despite my stomach being larger now 😂
Will be interesting to see how much my weight changes over the coming months because that's me just been able to start eating again 😬😂

SamanthaVimes · 27/12/2021 19:15

@WotsitMum agree with you about new look being good for clothes.

Side note, if anyone spots any maternity clothes with decent pockets (I.e will fit a phone in) then please let me know!

I’ve been online shopping for clothes today and I am full of rage about how few practical options there are! Ordered a pair of dungarees to try as they were the only thing I could find that looked like they had sensible pockets

(My normal sporty leggings that I live in have a pocket on the side and I can’t go back to not having a pocket for my phone but they’re already a bit tight Blush)

Glittergirl2 · 27/12/2021 19:40

I hope everyone’s had a lovely Christmas, I am so ready to sit on the sofa tonight and do nothing.
I’ve also given in and booked a private scan for this Thursday, the 19th Jan (my nhs scan) just seems way to far away.
@SamanthaVimes there’s some leggings called Flexars, I have a couple of pairs that I ride in but they’re also marketed as really good maternity sports leggings and have a nice wide supportive waist band. They did me well through my last pregnancy.

HopefulBeth · 27/12/2021 20:03

@Lianna93 I'm the same, despite how much weight I've lost all my clothes are too tight and jeans are an absolute no go! After @UncomfortableBadger post I'm going to start looking for some maternity clothes for a bit of stretch!

Elsols93 · 27/12/2021 20:13

Iv lost just over half a stone my bmis 24 but no worry from them when I mentioned @HopefulBeth xx

@UncomfortableBadger thanks just been on adding a few bits to basket I feel like I live in leggings atm xx

Also ladies I just bought today electric tommee tippee all black bundle on mamas & papas for 65£ saved myself £95 so take a look I also have a £30 off if you spend over £150 for refer a friend - click on that part at payment and write my name Elle keating if that helps any of you xxx

Capricorn8990 · 27/12/2021 20:19

@UncomfortableBadger amazing thank you so much, I've been having a browse.

@Elsols93 oh that's so good, thank you for the recommendation. I have no idea what to buy as a first time mum!! Xx

Lianna93 · 27/12/2021 20:32

@HopefulBeth I've been living in leggings since the earlier weeks & I literally never wear leggings 😬
Gonna have to bite the bullet & look into maternity clothes - have a wedding in February too so will need to look at getting a nice dress for that.

HopefulBeth · 27/12/2021 20:38

@lianna93 it's my brother in law's wedding in March and I'd already bought a dress before I knew I was pregnant! I'm waiting until closer to the time to get a replacement as no idea what sort of size I'll be!
