Does anyone know how long you should leave between scans/ what's advised? Xx

Maybepossibly22 · 14/12/2021 19:46

@sleepyshiftworker I’ll be 13+2 at my scan. Not sure why it’s so late, I expected it to be the week before

Lianna93 · 14/12/2021 19:50

@Capricorn8990 I'm sure the advice on window to the wombs website is 2 weeks :)

purpleskyssssss · 14/12/2021 21:06

@Pickle0901 Pinterest is great for ideas for pregnancy announcements

I am 10week 3 days today and my lower abdominal feels very heavy, not cramps or in any pain as such just uncomfy and aware of it, I also pre pregnancy suffered with a bad back and since yesterday this has kicked in!

Is anyone else feeling extremely heavy in the abdominal area- not sure if this is classed as 'pressure' from uterus expanding or something I should be concerned about

sleepyshiftworker · 14/12/2021 21:29

@purpleskyssssss yes! Also bloated, constipation and hate any thing tight around my tummy

Glittergirl2 · 14/12/2021 22:34

@Maybepossibly22 I’m hearing you on being pregnant and running around after a toddler. My little boy will be two at the end of Jan and I definitely took for granted being able to sit down whenever I wanted when I was pregnant with him 😬

Lianna93 · 14/12/2021 23:08

@purpleskyssssss Funny you should mention that - I keep saying to DH that my abdomen feels 'weird'. My male cat loves to cuddle at bedtime & he's always slept on my chest, but as of recent, he's been sleeping on abdomen/stomach area and it's been the weirdest sensation every-time he steps on my abdo but I don't know how to describe the sensation 😂

My clothes are definitely getting a lot tighter. Had to change my pjs twice last night because they were so tight around me.
When is it acceptable to wear maternity clothes? 🤔😂

missv556 · 15/12/2021 07:05

@purpleskyssssss I felt a weird feeling in my abdomen last night and I was trying to describe it to my fiance and couldn't quite figure out how to. But it did feel heavy and uncomfortable.

purpleskyssssss · 15/12/2021 07:12

@sleepyshiftworker @Lianna93 @missv556 seems we are all experiencing the same then! Mine is also defiantly in the evening aswell, don't notice it in the morning!

I know what your saying about clothes being tight! I love PJ and requested some of my sister for Xmas and she is getting maternity ones for me 😁, I hate tight PJ anyway and at the moment mine are also getting tighter! I am very bloated in evenings

Capricorn8990 · 15/12/2021 07:57

@Lianna93 thank you hun!

I too have had weird feelings in my stomach! Keep having vivid dreams too..

Lianna93 · 15/12/2021 10:36

Anyone ever bought anything from Shein? I was looking at their maternity range this morning & everything looks so nice! But skeptic because I've never used them before 😬

feliznavidad2 · 15/12/2021 12:03

@Lianna93 I have but non-maternity stuff, the material all feels very cheap and nylon-y to me x

Pickle0901 · 15/12/2021 12:14

Thanks for some of the ideas @Capricorn8990 and @purpleskyssssss I'll have a look.

I'm 10 weeks today & have just decided (like a lot of you have), to book in for an early pregnancy scan this week. I'm super nervous about it, but I feel given Christmas and all the get togethers (and the fact I'll be close to the 12wk mark), it makes sense to be telling people around then. And I'd feel far more comfortable knowing we have some reassurance that everything is okay.

I also think it will make things more real. I know someone mentioned thinking it's not real & I'm very much "pinching myself", so to speak, in disbelief that it's happening.

Plus I think it would be a nice way to break the news to close family, with a picture of the scan.

Just felt like sharing as I don't think anyone will understand the nerves like you guys do.

naemates · 15/12/2021 12:20

Hi pickle, I'm 10 weeks today too and I have my private scan booked for Monday - also so we can tell family over Christmas.

I also have the not real feeling - I still have my positive pregnancy tests dotted around the house as a reminder! Finally have my booking in appointment tomorrow, which I'm hoping will help, when a professional agrees that I'm not just being dramatic!

HatHatHat · 15/12/2021 12:22

Hello!

Just jointing this as I’m due on 23/07. I’m new to Mumsnet so hello 👋🏻

So reassuring to see your posts about things getting better at week 10, I’m 8+4 and the constant tiredness, nausea and headaches is getting quite overwhelming now.

Is anyone else experiencing insomnia? I’ve not had a good sleep in months. I’ve got terrible back pain and PGP which isn’t helping but I just can’t stay asleep. I know insomnia is a symptom in the first trimester but no one I know has suffered with it…

Effram · 15/12/2021 12:43

@laurenGame how was your scan?

@Lianna93 I've been in maternity clothes since about 9 weeks, so much more comfortable. Don't put it off is my advice, enjoy the maximum comfort for as long as possible!

I am 12 weeks on Friday and I am now feeling a bit less nauseous after an absolute peak on Monday when I couldn't even go near the kitchen, or give my toddler dinner, had to tap my husband in to feed him and clear up. I had just soldiered through wiping the toddler's bum all the while gagging so I then had to lie down!

@hathathat I struggling a bit with sleep but mainly because one or t'other of my boys often wakes around 4 and then it's really hard to get back to sleep. I keep accidentally reading for ages and then just as I do drift off one of them wakes up for good! I'm about to go and have a little power nap before a 2pm meeting! Making the most of still having childcare before 2 weeks of having both boys off for Christmas, really hoping family will do lots of the entertaining next week!

@Pickle0901 good luck with the scan, if you've got a while to wait it really is reassuring esp now when it will be kicking around!

Effram · 15/12/2021 12:44

@Maybepossibly22 I'll be 13+4 at mine - when I rang my hospital they just said they are so so busy, they're scanning Saturdays and Sundays and mine is on 28th which is actually a bank holiday just trying to fit everyone in so maybe that's why!

Pickle0901 · 15/12/2021 13:16

@naemates I definitely don't think you are being dramatic at all. When I had my first check in on Monday, I told the midwife that I was half expecting her to tell me I've got it all wrong.... haha.

You will feel good about that first meeting as it is very reassuring to know all the tests they are doing, urine, blood and carbon monoxide and really ensuring they understand you, your partner and any family history.

I have Raynauds and they are putting me under a medical team to specifically assess me further because apparently it's a risk (which I never expected) and also because I have had a couple of loop colposcopy's previously - she was waiting to find out which is classed as higher priority. So I am not worried about either, instead I feel I am in safe hands, which is good.

@Effram thank you - will it really be moving around by now.... wow, I don't know what to expect. I have just booked in and have the scan this evening at 5:30pm, so it is all about to get real.... excited beyond belief and incredibly anxious but, all natural emotions I guess so just have to go with it....

I actually want to get a pregnancy journal as the emotions and conversations about names etc are ever changing and so funny, I think it would be nice to show him/her in the future. I remember my mum showing me one she had done while pregnant with me and it's nice to see.

SamanthaVimes · 15/12/2021 13:44

@HatHatHat I had dreadful insomnia with my first pregnancy. Hasn’t been too bad this time but I’m up 3 or 4 times a night with dd instead so it’s not really any better 😅

AppleTree16 · 15/12/2021 15:00

Having an absolutely crap day here. Tested positive for covid (after two days of awful flu symptoms) and now have some light brown/yellow discharge. I assume they are related but now worrying about miscarriage on top of everything else 😢

Lianna93 · 15/12/2021 15:57

@Effram I'm definitely considering next pay day buying a bunch. I've been living in leggings & oversized shirts for the past month but I want nicer clothes now 😂

@feliznavidad2 That's what I was concerned about. Feel like their clothes may rip really easy 😬

@HatHatHat Insomnia was actually one of my earliest symptoms during the TWW, now I'm the complete opposite & I spend the majority of the day (when I'm not working) sleeping 😂

@Pickle0901 Good luck with your scan! 🥰

@AppleTree16 Sorry to hear you've gotten Covid - hopefully it's a speedy recovery 🤞🏻 I have no advice in terms of spotting/discharge as I've not experienced anything like that so far but keep an eye on it & if it's still of concern, phone your midwife? 🥰

AppleTree16 · 15/12/2021 16:14

Thanks @Lianna93 I’ve got her number and the EPU number so hopefully it’s just because I’m ill. It’s so crap because I can’t do anything outside to take my mind off things.

LaurenGame · 15/12/2021 17:25

I did have a scan @Effram and we are having a baby BOY! 💙 can't believe I'm going to have a son 🙈😀

NIPT scan is also good (low risk), what a nice break from my spotting/bleeding and freaking out that something will go wrong.
12 week mark next week so hoping for more reassurance before Xmas .. when is your next one?

Pickle0901 · 15/12/2021 19:05

I'm in all kind of upset and despair....
I went for my early pregnancy scan and they picked up a sac and there doesn't seem to be anything inside...

They weren't medically trained so I don't know what to think....

I'm 10wks today according to my dates of last period. They told me the sac is 6wks and 2 days but that they can't see the foetus... I have read some things online stating it means I'll have a miscarriage and then I've read some blogs where people have had the same and then gone on to have a healthy baby. My worry is why is it looking like 6 weeks if it's supposed to be 10.

I need an internal scan but I just feel so disappointed and sad and awful about it.
My OH is trying to be positive. He's been looking online at scan pics and thinks it looks healthy cos there is a tiny dot but that's only visible on one and it does look pretty empty. I just don't know what to think. I don't even know what I expect anyone to say but just don't know who to talk to!!

feliznavidad2 · 15/12/2021 19:31

@Pickle0901 didn't want to read and run, you need to get hold of your local Early Pregnancy Unit first thing tomorrow, they'll be able to support you with this and arrange appropriate scans/investigations.

I'm sorry you're going through this. x
