@DrPrincessFluffyToYou please don’t beat yourself up I caught it 3 weeks ago from a fully vaccinated friend with booster meeting up for a coffee we can’t put our lives on hold I was ill for 2 days had a scan done last week and baby is completely fine xxxx

JJ1992 · 12/12/2021 18:12

I had my first face to face appt with the midwife this week and got our scan date through.. 5/1/22 💖

However! My breast tenderness has completely gone this last week and ive generally felt more energetic and 'myself' which is now concerning me 😐 the worry is just never ending! Still feeling a little sicky after eating and tired later in the day thoough..
I found week 6 really challenging with nausea and fatigue then week 7 i felt okay again, originally i thought maybe i just had an infection that week but now the breast thing has me worried.
We are planning on telling wider family on christmas but now im really concerned that something has happened and just cant let myself be excited for baby right now. I have spoken with my parnter who is supportive but i feel like im getting him down.
I just hope i find something reassuring this week ( or if its not meant to be it can show) because this is so hard mentally!

I see a few of you guys are feeling the same too! ❤️

Lianna93 · 12/12/2021 18:36

@JJ1992 I get this feeling completely. My 9th week seemed to be my absolute worst, to the point I couldn't eat at all so was constantly crying. And then half way through my 10th week, the nausea just stopped. I'm now 11 weeks with no nausea at all, breasts are still a bit tender & the fatigue is still there but when the symptoms just suddenly stop, it can be very worrying - however, this could just mean that now the placenta has taken over and is giving your body a break 😊 Try not to worry too much 🥰

JJ1992 · 12/12/2021 19:11

@Lianna93 thanks for the reassurance I need it right now! Feel so silly stressing every single thing.. Suppose it gives a prep for parenthood! 😂

annie1994 · 13/12/2021 10:16

@JJ1992 I have heard that symptoms can just come and go! I had it earlier on in the pregnancy and emailed the midwife because I was worried and she said it’s normal and as long as there is no bleeding/ pain she wouldn’t worry. You worry because you feel so sick then you worry because to don’t feel sick - we will never win 😂

annie1994 · 13/12/2021 10:19

I also agree with @Lianna93 around week 10 your placenta takes over so symptoms can ease for a lot of women. It’s been a god send for me as I was so poorly up to then, in and out of hospital with the sickness. I’m still not great and need anti sickness tablets but I can manage food and drink most of the day. Thank god for the placenta taking over 😂

Effram · 13/12/2021 11:04

Same as above, the placenta takes over and hormones change around now so that is why often symptoms alleviate around the end of first trimester. Sounds completely normal!

Hope you all had good weekends. I was soooo tired and quite emotional but I think the nausea is finally alleviating ! (11+3 today!)

laurenGame · 13/12/2021 12:54

Checking in, I've been quiet for a while (plodding along, 11 week scan tomorrow!).

Sickness is still here which is annoying , I was hoping it'll be gone by now.

Still spotting some days but just keeping ticking off the weeks and telling myself I'm getting in a safer zone🤞 hope everyone's well and excited for their last Xmas before their new baby comes along x

AppleTree16 · 13/12/2021 13:05

First midwife appointment today. Got my notes and answered a million questions! Other news is that I’ve been signed off work until I break up for Christmas on the 22nd due to nausea / dizziness. Currently laid in bed after exhausting myself walking back from the GP surgery 🤪. I’m 9 weeks today so hopefully things start easing off in the next week or two.

Lostintranslatio · 13/12/2021 13:22

I'll be 12 weeks in 2 days and my nausea has not eased at all 😭

ShellUK09 · 13/12/2021 17:18

Had my first midwife appointment today, I was really nervous beforehand. It was fine though and I feel better now that I have talked everything through. Managed not to cause a scene with my blood test by asking to lie down straight away, I'm terrible for blood tests and feeling faint! But think I'll just have to get used to it as she mentioned there is a another blood test at the 12 week scan. My 12 week scan will be between 1st-14th Jan but will get a letter through the post soon. I was nervous about this appointment with it being the first and longest one, but I needn't have worried as she was lovely and put me at ease straight away, she even left my blood pressure until the end as she knew I was on edge and thankfully it was ok by then as I had calmed down once the blood test was done! I may still try to have an early private scan though as still feel like I have no real confirmation things are okay, I wish they would scan you at the booking appointment. Anyway off to google private scans!

Congrats on getting through it! I also lie down for bloods and im a nurse myself 😂 much better just to be safe than risk fainiting and hitting your head or something. Totally agree things start to feel real at the booking in appt but still no proper evidence of baby. Sounds like youll get your scan soon enough though!
Lianna93 · 13/12/2021 18:49

@ShellUK09 I'm the same with bloods - always ask to lie down & ask for the butterfly needle too 🙃😂

12 weeks scan bloods should be optional as they're the bloods that test for downs, edwards & pataus. This should have been explained to you 😊

I'd definitely recommend an early scan, if you don't feel like waiting until your 12 week. Gives you wonderful reassurance 🥰 I used Window to the Womb for mine & they were great 😊

ShellUK09 · 13/12/2021 19:28

@Lianna93 thank you, glad
I'm not the only one! It is hard at times to stay strong when you have a genuine fear but thankfully everyone is always very kind. No she didn't really explain that it was optional at the 12 week scan but I think I will go for it anyway. Yes seen somewhere local where they can do it on Friday so I'll probably go for that and hope for the best.

@JJ1992 thank you, enjoying relaxing tonight! Ah really, I always assume nurses aren't bothered by needles/blood tests etc, but everyone is human 🙂 It is definitely better to be safe. Yeah we were saying if someone had made up their pregnancy (not sure why you would!) they could get quite far through the system before it would be picked up, there's definitely a gap in the system for an extra check. I'm going to try to go for a scan this week!

Lianna93 · 13/12/2021 22:00

@ShellUK09 Not sure how 12 weeks scans & bloods are done everywhere but I'm in Scotland & my midwife had sent me out an information pack explaining about the blood tests & what to expect and what would happen if they came back with a high risk. Then at my booking appointment, she asked if I wanted the bloods done or not.
From what I read online on the nhs website, it seems pretty standard everywhere that the bloods are optional 🤔 Maybe ask your midwife to explain all this so you aren't going in to the scan blindly 🥰

aimeeeleanor · 14/12/2021 00:41

Hello all

Please may i join in :)

I’m 9 weeks pregnant today, due date 19th July.

I need some support in regards to sickness & nausea. Suffering so terribly. On Metoclopramide but doesn’t seem to be helping unfortunately

Anybody else suffering from constant nausea? It’s making me panic! I’ve lost almost 10lbs in the past 4 weeks xx

annie1994 · 14/12/2021 07:12

@aimeeeleanor hello, I feel your pain! I’ve had severe sickness this pregnancy and it’s been awful. Like you I’ve lost a lot of weight about a stone and a half I think. 9 weeks was by far the worst week (that’s the week I ended up in hospital twice as couldn’t keep water/ medication or anything down). I’m now 11 weeks and things are more manageable. I take metoclopramide and cyclizine which help now and afternoons/ evenings I can eat and drink. I’m sure it will ease up for you in a week or so - but getting to that point is hard!! Maybe call your GP and see if you can change anti-sickness/ have one added to the metoclopramide?

If you can’t even keep tiny sips of water down you need to go to A&E/ EPU. I really feel for you as these last few weeks have been the hardest, longest and sickest of my life!!

Take care x

AppleTree16 · 14/12/2021 08:33

@aimeeeleanor due date twin here. I’m having and nausea but nowhere near yours by the looks of things. Definitely try and speak to your GP about changing up the medication. Are you able to take some time off work?
Things I’ve tried that help marginally: taking it very slowly in the morning, having a glucose tablet and a banana in bed before starting to get up for the day. Constantly eating even through the nausea (like literally forcing myself to eat and I find it does help). Lying on my side and not moving.

I’m sure you’ve probably tried all of that….

Pickle0901 · 14/12/2021 10:28

Nice to see all your updates and hello to the newcomers.

I had my first face to face midwife appointment yesterday. She took my bloods, weight & height. Stated that the scan will be between 12-14 weeks. So first few weeks of Jan, as I'm 10 wks tomorrow (due 13th July)...

She said that the bloods at the 12wk are for optional and for testing the baby... I've said yes but she said if I change my mind on the day then I don't have to...

Unlike some of you, I'm not really getting many symptoms. I don't know what's worse, I think whichever way we get it, we worry... I'm guessing the scan will make it feel real & put my mind at ease. The only thing I've noticed, is in a morning j feel like myself and look like myself. By the evening I look massive and totally bloated.

Trying to think of nice ideas for sharing with nieces & nephews but without the scan the ideas aren't as fun...

Hope you are all doing well!

sleepyshiftworker · 14/12/2021 14:12

Hello all

Sorry to those suffering with nausea and sickness. I am really struggling with sleep / getting up with my toddler / needing a constant wee and exhaustion.

Got 7 x 12 hour shifts between now and Christmas Day, got to battle through.

Got my over the phone booking in appt tomorrow - then in person for bloods and stuff on Friday.

Debating booking a private scan but there's no where local with availability that DP and I can do due to his children arriving for Christmas holiday etc.

We haven't told any one else yet and part of me thinks it's all made up Hmm

Capricorn8990 · 14/12/2021 17:26

@Pickle0901 I totally agree with you regarding symptoms. I've had bad nausea and food aversions since around week 6 and I'm now 10+3 and I feel better so I'm worried if something has gone wrong, however I've also read that the placenta takes over around this time and you can start feeling better!

You could do a hangman with them saying I'm pregnant or something fun like that in a game? Xx

Capricorn8990 · 14/12/2021 17:27

@sleepyshiftworker sorry to hear about your exhaustion your shifts sound tough!

Have you looked at window to the womb for a private scan? Xx

sleepyshiftworker · 14/12/2021 17:59

@CaptainCarp yes think I've looked at them but little availability between them and us before I would have my 12 week one with hospital any hoo.

Maybepossibly22 · 14/12/2021 18:39

Hi all, had my booking appointment with midwife yesterday and blood test today - starting to feel real now. Scan not until 20th Jan which feels like a lifetime away but will hold out until then as once Christmas is over it will go quickly. Just spending my days tired and hungry Grin having a toddler and being pregnant is a totally different ball game! Sending love to all of you

sleepyshiftworker · 14/12/2021 18:58

@Maybepossibly22 how many weeks will you be at your scan?
