Hi all, is there any apps that people could suggest to stay calm throughout pregnancy? I've got severe OCD and I cannot stop worrying about things going wrong. In my mind if I worry about things going wrong, then I'll be prepared for when it does. I'm very pessimistic but cannot easily change my thinking.

It's worse when I'm not working. Luckily I have work tomorrow through to Wednesday but I then have 4 days off which is torturous.

I have my midwife app on Monday and I'm going to explain my anxiety for which I am medicated and ask if I can be scanned before Christmas Day otherwise I won't be able to enjoy the day.

I have struggled with those throughout my entire childhood and rest of my life and it's horrendous 😞. I know anxiety is normal during pregnancy regardless of having an anxiety disorder but my diagnosis just makes things 10000% harder.

Love to all x

@ShellUK09 I’ve been in hospital twice because of Hyperemesis Gravidiam and trust me if all you can tolerate is lucozade… have it!! Fluid is fluid at the end of the day. I just try and have as much ‘watery’ food as possible like ice lollies, jelly etc then any fluid I can take whether that’s lucozade, milkshake, flat lemonade. Hope you feel better soon x

Weredone · 03/12/2021 17:40

@missv556 the flu jab isn’t a live virus though.

SamanthaVimes · 03/12/2021 19:22

Just in case anyone was wondering about the flu vaccine the government have this to say. Obviously it’s each individual persons choice whether to have it or not.

“adults aged 18 to 64 are offered an injectable vaccine. It is an inactivated vaccine that does not contain any live viruses and cannot give you flu. There are different types available depending on how they were manufactured”

ShellUK09 · 03/12/2021 21:51

@annie1994 aww thank you and thanks for your advice 💕 I will give jelly a go to help with my fluids, that's a great tip. It's hard doing the weekly food shop when you feel like this! The best foods for me right now are toast, mini cheddars, and bananas. It's a whole new world. Sorry you have been through this twice x

Effram · 04/12/2021 09:05

hi @Capricorn8990, sorry you're feeling so anxious. I swear by the Headspace app both in and out of pregnancy, but it has a pregnancy pack that is lovely to follow. Are you anxious specifically about pregnancy or just in general? I feel like hypnobirthing may also be really helpful as that is lots of relaxation and learning information to empower you as well.

@ShellUK09 my friend also had terrible sickness, and she was reassured to learn that the baby takes all the stuff it needs before you so definitely just eat the mini cheddars or whatever else you can stomach and don't worry about anything. hopefully you'll have some relief in a few weeks...

As other have said, the flu vaccine isn't live. TBH I've had flu only once in my life, pre kids, but I can't imagine having it and trying to look after my kids with it let alone doing that with pregnancy symptoms on top, and fevers in pregnancy can be dangerous for baby, so I will be having it next week. I had the vaccine in my previous two pregnancies but nearer the end as they were autumn babies so had the new season's one to be covered for the winter they were born in. I had no side effects.

I wondered whether anyone wanted to start a little list of our dates for 12 week scans so we know when ours are? I just got my letter through, it's on 29th December when I should be 12 weeks exactly. (If nobody wants a list too, that's fine also! 😆)

MrsCtobe91 · 04/12/2021 10:50

@purpleskyssssss seriously, the days are slow but the weeks are fast. I can't believe it's Saturday again and we're 3 weeks away from Christmas day!!

@feliznavidad2 i like your idea and id love to join but at present im still waiting to hear from a midwife 🙄. Hate waiting.

ChrissyAero · 04/12/2021 10:52

Hey everyone - hope you're doing okay.

I had another scan this morning and they confirmed a very large cyst on my ovary - I think they want to remove it, but they're waiting till the second trimester. I'm super scared! Has anyone else had this?

My 12w scan is meant to be the 23rd Dec but I'm not sure I'll need it now with all these extra scans I'm having.

Lostintranslatio · 04/12/2021 11:14

Mine is on the 21st December. Can't wait and at the same time I'm terrified 😂😂

Told my partner's parents and they were delighted ❤️

Capricorn8990 · 04/12/2021 11:32

@Effram thank you for your kind reply. I didn't know they had a pregnancy pack, I'll take a look at that. I'm scared of MC specifically. I'm not allowing myself to be happy in case that happens.. I enquired with a counsellor last night about therapy but some of the fees are crazy! £80-£100 per session.. found someone that's reasonable hopefully they reply xx

purpleskyssssss · 04/12/2021 12:31

@Capricorn8990 sorry you are struggling, hopefully when you have your midwife appointment you can let them know that you are struggling, I know at mine she asked and I mentioned I do have OCD (although not medicated atm and have been able to manage with it myself over last couple of years) she told me if I feel I need any support to contact them as they is support there, I think they will be aware anxiety/ ocd and other mental health issues rising during a time such as pregnancy!

Maybe an early scan will help reduce some anxieties, I know it did me, I'm not sure how long these reduced anxieties will last but I'm feeling much more positive now.

Also allowing yourself to feel this way, it is a very anxious time, sorry to hear you are really struggling ❤️

Lianna93 · 04/12/2021 13:35

@Capricorn8990 Sorry to hear you're struggling with your anxiety :( I hope it gets better for you!
Like others are saying, an early scan may help put your mind at ease.
I caught a really bad viral at the start of my pregnancy & had the worst cough - everytime I coughed, I got the worst cramping & naturally panicked so booked an early scan with window to the womb for reassurance.
They were absolutely fantastic & it was a huge relief seeing my little baby with its flickering heart for the first time 🥰

Waiting for my 12 week scan appointment coming through but that should be just before Christmas as I'll be 12 weeks on the 18th 😁

annie1994 · 04/12/2021 13:52

@Lostintranslatio my 12 week scan is on 21st December too 😀 I will be 12+4 I think x

Lostintranslatio · 04/12/2021 13:57

@annie1994 Ah! 😊😊 I'm sure we'll have good news 🤞I will be 12+6, although I've been told in the two scans I've had that I might be a few days ahead (which I doubt as I'm pretty sure of my dates😂)

Sorry to hear that @ChrissyAero do you have lots of support around you? Hope you're as ok as you can be. Maybe worth posting a separate thread in pregnancy topic as I'm sure I've read about others with similar cyst situations in pregnancy.

missv556 · 04/12/2021 17:38

My scan is 20 December

Effram · 04/12/2021 18:23

My scan is 28th and I think I'll be 13+2 :)

Thanks Feliz! I appreciate that.

Yes, I've done looooooads of research today haha. The outcome seems pretty positive for the type of cyst I have so I'm feeling a bit better.

I'm really having to force myself to eat recently, just not hungry at all. And I'm going to need bigger bras soon 😲

laurenGame · 04/12/2021 21:06

'Hi all, is there any apps that people could suggest to stay calm throughout pregnancy? '

@Capricorn8990 I'm also wondering about this if anyone can recommend? I'm struggling with my high risk pregnancy to the point where I'm getting quite low and some days struggle to even shower.

I listened to 'high risk pregnancy' podcast but that's just full of horror stories.
I do listen to the calm app but it's more maybe like a podcast from a psychologist or something? Any other ideas would be welcome Smile thank you x

HoneyPea · 04/12/2021 21:30

My scan is the 4th Jan
