I've had my booster at approx 5 weeks @Capricorn8990 as work in healthcare, it's definitely recommended by the NHS at this time as vast majority of severe illness in pregnant women from Covid are in those who are unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated.

This information from the Royal College of Obs and Gynae is helpful, and I believe is the most up to date one: www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/2021-02-24-combined-info-sheet-and-decision-aid.pdf

MrsCtobe91 · 02/12/2021 11:22

I had my first back in june specifically to prevent losing my baby if i caught covid then ended up having a MMC in july. I could be wrong but i have the strongest feeling the two were related. Anyway i had my second dose in September but won't be having the booster.

Anywho how is everyone? I feel rubbish this morning. Think i have caught my daughters bug or whatever it is she's had as she was sent home yesterday and the day before for being sick in school but was fine for the rest of both of the days and this morning 🙄. But there is a sick bug going round so god knows. Xx

Misty84 · 02/12/2021 11:30

@Capricorn8990 I’ll be getting my booster and also booked in for the flu jab following my midwife’s advice.

JaffaCakeGal · 02/12/2021 11:42

Sorry, I've been AWOL but been reading through - sorry to those who have had bad news or worries Flowers. I'm 7 weeks today and twiddling my thumbs waiting to hear about my booking in appointment. I'm sure I had heard by this point with my first baby, but it's all changed to online notes now, but at least I have access to the app now after finding the email in my junk. Kind of annoying as I obviously need to know if I need to book time off work and need to do it without it looking suspect Grin

Effram · 02/12/2021 11:51

@HoneyPea and @Capricorn8990 I've also cracked out the maternity jeans, they feel soooooo good. Absolutely the world's best kept secret I'd say. First time I've timed it for a Christmas pregnancy too so can have the extra stretchy waist band for Christmas dinner! (as long as I've stopped feeling so queasy!)

I've managed to rearrange my scan from 24th when we will be away to 28th... I think I'll be about 14 weeks but we have harmony scan next week so I don't mind :)

I need to book my flu booster and will have the covid booster when offered too.

SamanthaVimes · 02/12/2021 11:56

@Capricorn8990 I’ve had my flu jab already and will get the covid booster when I’m offered it plus whooping cough if it turns out I need that one again

HoneyPea · 02/12/2021 15:58

@feliznavidad2 👋 I started showing at around 11 weeks with my first. Ive been wearing maternity clothes since 6weeks this time. It's just crazy but I'd rather be comfy rather than breaking my zips 🙊
@Capricorn8990 Unfortunately I'm not allowed the flu jab due to previously having an Anaphylactic reaction in the past. It meant getting my Covid Jabs was very difficult as I was refused by a number of places. I will be due my booster in Feb an can imagine it will be even more difficult to try and get someone to give it to me while pregnant.
I had Covid last Dec and ended up having to visit hospital so really don't want to have to go through that again with a lower immune system 😕

purpleskyssssss · 02/12/2021 16:07

Hey all been very quiet lately trying to keep myself occupied for today as was my first scan.

All went well I am 8 weeks 5 days as I expected as I know when I ovulated, baby in right place and heart beating away - although I didn't have any sound but could see it clapping together like 2 musical instruments 😁 feeling so much more real now! I'll be 12 weeks on Xmas day but don't have 12 week scan until 30th

Hope you are all doing ok

Capricorn8990 · 02/12/2021 16:59

Thank you to everyone who replied about the covid vaccine 😊! X

@purpleskyssssss I'm so glad your scan went well. Did you have your scan today? If so we're matching dates! I'm due 9th July xx

purpleskyssssss · 02/12/2021 19:34

Yes @Capricorn8990 I had it today, yay due date twins 😁 feels more real seeing it on the screen especially as I don't have any over the top symptoms!

My 12 week is scheduled for 30th so I'll be just a bit over when is yours?

Capricorn8990 · 02/12/2021 19:38

@purpleskyssssss Awhh how exciting!! It really does, doesn't it? So amazing! I've not had mine scheduled yet but got my first booking in appointment on Monday so hopefully find out shortly after that xx

HoneyPea · 02/12/2021 20:04

@purpleskyssssss and @Capricorn8990 I'm the 9th too. My scan isn't until the 4th of January, I'm so disappointed as it seems so far away 😕

emmatake2 · 02/12/2021 21:15

@MrsCtobe91 I had a similar experience with my covid 2nd jab. Had it at 8 weeks and had a miscarriage 3 weeks later. I can't help but think it was related but it was maybe just a coincidence. Really in two minds about the booster.

I have just booked a private scan for 8 weeks for some reassurance. I didn't have one before 12 weeks last time so excited to see what it looks like this early. I don't seem to have any symptoms at the moment

kelsn96 · 03/12/2021 07:19

Can someone please help! Last two mornings before I eat anything I suddenly get the urge to be sick, which I do, however due to an empty stomach is just bile and yellow (sorry tmi), is this actually morning sickness? I don't get it any other point in the day just first thing when I wake up!

purpleskyssssss · 03/12/2021 07:20

@HoneyPea yay another due date twin 😬 are you able to give them a call and see if you can push it forward even to end of jan? Worth asking and you would feel more comfortable as would be closer to 12 weeks?

I had fhis one booked for 3 weeks and I remember thinking will I be able to wait that long, it went very fast.

@Capricorn8990 yes I'm sure on Monday they will let you know your date for 12 weeks, I did want before Xmas but we have already told majority of our family anyway, couldn't keep it in hahah

purpleskyssssss · 03/12/2021 07:24

Also for the jab question I am double jabbed but won't be getting the booster while pregnant, I have had the flu jab and I will have the coughing jab - I haven't felt any urge either from the hospital to get my booster

@kelsn96 I believe it is my friend had this in her early pregnancy - I feel extremely sick if I don't eat but of yet haven't been sick. I know some people say they to have ginger biscuits or crackers next to your bed to keep your stomach a little full

kelsn96 · 03/12/2021 07:28

@purpleskyssssss that you for getting back! It's so strange, I don't wake up feeling sick, maybe hungry, but then all of a sudden i get this urge to retch, I go to the toilet then I just throw up! I had bad nausea a few weeks ago and now I just feel a little sick when hungry that's about it but this is new Smile

MrsCtobe91 · 03/12/2021 09:32

@emmatake2 its hard not to blame the vaccine isn't it when it happened so close to having it. A week after my vaccine i noticed my symptoms disappearing and then a couple of days later i started bleeding and because i had a private scan booked my parted called them and got it brought forward so i had my scan a couple of days later and measured around 6 weeks which was the week i had my jab. I should've been 8 weeks when i had the scan.

Aw how exciting, i hope all is well with your scan. And as for symptoms i don't have any either. Although last week my boobs seemed to be painful with constant achey pains in them but it seems to have stopped and i swear they have stopped growing 🙄

Anyone else's boobs stopped growing and hurting? Trying not to worry about it but my head is like 'nope!' Xx

missv556 · 03/12/2021 10:14

Just to put my 2 pennies in about vaccines, I have decided I won't be getting the flu jab. I was unsure what to do until I had a chat with my sister about it last week. She is a midwife but she said she personally wouldn't inject a live virus into her developing child. I trust her of course. Her last pregnancy was 15 years ago and she said the flu jab wasn't offered back then. My mum never had it with either of us. My friend who had a baby this year didn't, another friend who's son is 2 didn't get it. Its down to individual choice at the end of the day. I most likely won't be having the covid booster either tbh. I will have the whooping cough vaccine when I'm further along though

Lianna93 · 03/12/2021 10:34

Morning ladies - I've been lurking since of the start of the first thread, a wee bit too nervous to join incase I was jumping the gun 😬

I'm now coming into my 10th week, had an early scan and just awaiting my 12 week scan now 😁 So far, baby seems to be growing as should be - measuring a couple of days behind than predicted but that's okay 🥰

The 9th week has been absolutely awful for nausea & sickness - normally, I'm just badly dry heaving but last night I finally threw up 😩

Was holding off telling people until Christmas but due to having several dinners booked this month, I've had to fess up & tell family and friends since eating is non existent & I don't know how I long I can use my IBS as an excuse 😂

If it helps anyone at all, I got my booster & flu jag in my TWW and everything has turned about absolutely grand - normally with the vaccine, I get bad side effects but the booster I was fine, a wee sore arm & a little 'off' feeling that lasted maybe half an hour the day after the booster 😊

Hope you're all doing well 🥰
I'm awful at trying to keep up with threads, so I'll likely duck in & out from time to time 🙈😂

purpleskyssssss · 03/12/2021 10:59

@MrsCtobe91 yessss 2 the boob question! I was constantly checking my boobs after getting BFP and I think around 5 weeks they started to grow and was sore, but about 2 weeks ago they seemed less fuller and did not hurt, I would randomly every couple of days get a sharp pain in one of them - I really worried and was going to bring my scan forward but resisted and scan was all fine yesterday.

I do now get an odd sharp pain in my nipple and every so often they feel more sensitive but the size and fullness is exactly the same as before pregnancy

I have a lack of symptoms well the 'typical' symptoms, - I think my only symptoms is I am always hungry, I have constant gas 😖 & at times food aversions.

MrsCtobe91 · 03/12/2021 11:17

@purpleskyssssss oh it's so good to know im not the only one. Im glad you're scan went well, that must've been such a huge relief to see. These symptoms really don't give a damn about our feelings do they 😂. You sound exactly like me with the symptoms. How far along are you? Im 7+2 and still eagerly awaiting a call from the midwife 🙄. Xx

Mads96 · 03/12/2021 12:15

Hello! I've been watching this thread and has posted on the previous one. Hope everyone is okay 💗
I'm 8+2 and still not heard from the midwife and sure I had heard much earlier with my previous pregnancy! Rang the doctors around 5 weeks and they said to ring back at 7 weeks which I did and spoke to a doctor who asked me about family history and how I was- was this the booking in appointment?? 🤷🏼‍♀️
The doctor then told me I'd hear from the midwife anytime up to 14 weeks?! Surely I'd need blood tests and my scan arranged before this 😓 stressing me out a bit not knowing!
I had a private scan a week ago today so got to see little bean which was reassuring 🥰

Morning sickness is much worse this pregnancy, just bought some sickness bands that work through acupuncture pressure point so will let you all know if they help!!

ShellUK09 · 03/12/2021 14:46

@Mads96 I've also just bought some accupressure bands for sickness, got to try everything that can help! I've been to the GP today to ask for help with nausea and sickness, and he signed me off work until Christmas! Work won't be too happy but I'm just relieved I no longer have to act normal and struggle on anymore. I'm nearly 8 weeks and I'm struggling with the symptoms, and struggling to drink enough in the day so often feeling dehydrated. Trying lucozade sport out of desperation, even though I know I should just be having water, I can only manage the odd sip of water at a time nowadays. I have my first midwife appointment on 13th December, maybe you should chase your appointment up with the hospital? Lovely news about your scan, I'm tempted to have one as it's hard not knowing if things are okay x

purpleskyssssss · 03/12/2021 15:25

@MrsCtobe91 yes it really was, I am 8week 6 today - seems to go so slow but fast at the same time!
